OPP Warn Of Door-to-Door Sales Slime #StandYourGround

(PLYMPTON-WYOMING, ON) – On February 17, 2020 at approximately 11:00 a.m. the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to several calls in relation to a suspicious vehicle in the Town of Plympton-Wyoming.

Initial investigation revealed the occupants of the vehicle were approaching residences and attempting to sell their asphalt services.

The Lambton OPP is urging all homeowners to be very skeptical when someone arrives at your door wanting to inspect your home or inquiring about any personal information about you or your residence.

Here are some tips to protect yourself from a potential door-to-door scam.

Don’t feel pressured to make a quick decision – take time to do some research on a seller and the products first

Ask for photo ID, get the name of the person and of the company or charity they represent

Ask for the charity’s breakdown of where the funds are allocated. Be sure to get this in writing.

Never share any personal information or copies of any bills or financial statements

Only allow access to your property to people you trust

Research before you invest. Don’t sign anything and always read the fine print

Know your rights. Contact your local consumer affairs office- most provinces and territories have guidelines under their consumer protection act.

Reputable companies comply with the law. If you believe the business or salesperson made a false, misleading or deceptive statement you may have further remedies under the Consumer Protection Act. Wingham Is Revolting & Proud Of It – All Wingham Businesses And Entrepreneurs MUST Attend Meeting 7PM Liberation-Eve 20Feb2020 #OneTreadTooMany #EndTheBiaTax #OCanada

Taxation without Representation should never be tolerated, forgiven or forgotten.

7:00pm Liberation Eve (Thursday, 20Feb) there is a special meeting at the Community Complex in Wingham that all Wingham businesses must attend.

Wingham Liberation Day is celebrated on 21Feb every year to commemorate Wingham’s liberation from Timmy & The Timbits (Wingham Police). Despite Hall Of Shamers bernie bailey, neil vincent and doug kuyvenhoven’s efforts to bash the OPP, their lies about costs and the Blyth and East Wawanosh councillors forcing the status-quo, the WFP, Wingham Police & the Public won.

Very few stood with the Wingham Police Officers and their choice to disband. Reeve bernie bailey, doug kuyvenhoven and the “mac clan” were not among them. Cowards and hapless bullies do what they did. Blyth and East-Wawanosh owe Winghamites millions for their corrupt behaviour. Pro-rating Howson Dam repairs to those wards would be a first step toward reparations since they voted down continued maintenance of the Dam in the first place. We do not forgive or forget.

The Wingham Wakening may be gaining an even firmer foothold. If you are disgusted by this regime’s behaviour, there is absolutely no shame in revolting, in fact it is your Duty. Revolting is the new black.

UPDATE: Poor Weather Hampers Recovery Efforts For Missing 9 Year Old

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment along with the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) are searching for a 9-year-old boy who had fallen into the waters of Lake Erie off the shoreline of Peacock Point in Nanticoke, Haldimand County, Ontario.

On Saturday February 15, 2020 at 4:35 p.m., OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County paramedics responded to Peacock Point where it was reported two children had fallen into Lake Erie.

OPP learned that an 8-year-old male and a 9-year-old male were on the ice edge when a wave swept them into the lake.

A 10-year-old female who was with the boys, ran up to the roadway and flagged down a vehicle for help. A man and woman from the vehicle went out onto the ice to the water’s edge and were able to rescue the 8-year-old male.

The 9-year-old male did not resurface.

OPP were assisted by the U.S. Coast Guard who flew a helicopter in the area searching the area

The Joint Rescue and Co-ordination Centre also attended to assist with the search.

OPP Emergency Response Team members searched the shoreline with negative results.

The OPP USRU attended but the deteriorating and dangerous conditions kept them from entering into the water.

Search efforts were discontinued late Saturday and the status was changed to a recovery to resume the morning of Sunday February 16, 2020.

On Sunday February 16, 2020 at 8:30 a.m., the OPP USRU returned to the scene to assess the conditions of the area. Due to the incoming ice and build up, conditions were too dangerous to enter into the water.

Conditions continue to be assessed at this time.

OPP is utilizing their helicopter to search the area and the Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre is also returning to search the area.

On Monday February 17, 2020 at approximately 9:00 a.m., the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit continued recovery efforts off Peacock Point.

Conditions improved with calmer winds and less ice build up, allowing for closer access to the ice edge from the shoreline.

At approximately 6:30 p.m., recovery efforts were suspended for the day and will be resuming the morning of Tuesday February 18, 2020.

On Tuesday February 18, 2020 at approximately 9:00 a.m., the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit determined the conditions were too poor due to rough waters and high winds to enter the water. A shoreline search of the area is underway.

Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

Local Hero Stands Up To Council & Wingham BIA #StandYourGround #WinghamWakening

I wonder sometimes, when we live in small communities like Wingham, Blyth, and Belgrave, how the rumour mill can stray so far from the truth? However, it appears that some people do not give their due diligence and investigate the facts. For example, quoting Neil Vincent who stated that the Howson Dam has been a non issue for years when, in fact, during his last term in office, the North Huron Strategic Plan indicated that money was to be put aside yearly to repair the dam in 2020, if needed. (zero dollars were put into that account.) Also, a previous mayor, Don Carter, had earmarked $200,000 for repairs to the dam as needed. (Which were never used for actual repairs.) Either Mr. Vincent forgot these facts or ignored them. These facts could have easily been found through responsible journalism!

Sharon Chambers, former CAO for North Huron, stated that it would cost one million dollars to decommission the dam or $500,000 to repair it. Obviously, she must have done some of her research on behalf of the Township.

Interestingly enough, B.M. Ross and Associates, (engineers) stated in March 2015 that “they could remove the old worn concrete and apply new reinforced concrete for the piers and aprons for $458,200 plus HST”. Mr. Ross prepared construction drawings for the work that would be required. He stated that, “Repairs do not lead to instability” and “All of the repairs detailed on the drawings will either be neutral to stability or improve stability.” On January 26,2020, Mr. Ross reiterated that the dam could still be repaired although there will be some inflation in the price and some further deterioration of the structure, which is to be expected. Given the face lift, Mr. Ross felt that “the structure would last for many, many years.”

I have not seen or heard of any other schematic plans for repairs to the dam, from any other engineering firm.

I understand that, with ever tightening budgets, some journalists might not be able to get out into the field and talk to any of the 59 people that recently sent in letters of support to have the dam repaired while there were only 3 letters from Wingham (2 from the Wingham BIA and one from the manager of MVCA) to have the dam decommissioned. Rather than just talking to “the old boys club” journalists need to get out and see if there is more that one side to a story and give both sides.

Anyone that has followed the Howson Dam and Pond Citizens Committee over the last 6 years knows that the Committee is ready and willing to raise the money for the repairs to the Howson Dam but has NEVER EVER asked for municipal tax money.

Most good journalists would look into the high costs of decommissioning a dam before suggesting this avenue.

For information on decommissioning a dam, check out the MNR guidelines. 1. Dam Decommissioning and removal

Table of contents, MNR 2011

2. Technical Bulletin for Dam Decommissioning and Removal

page 2, MNR 2011.

As a North Huron community, we need to work together. Blyth recently received $500,000 to upgrade the theatre. We all invested in that project and applaud them. Also, there was funding for walking trails, playground equipment, and the Hospital. This is what makes a community! Let the Citizens committee continue to make “our community” the best it can be.

Thank you,

Rennie Alexander,

Howson Dam & Pond Citizens Committee
