Repeat Offender Arrested In Blyth – Forcible Confinement, Breach, etc

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Blyth resident with a number of criminal charges following a domestic disturbance call that took place in Blyth yesterday.

Shortly after 3:00 p.m. Huron OPP members responded to a residence in Blyth after receiving a call from a concerned neighbour about a disturbance taking place next door. Upon arrival officers located a couple within the residence.

Officers subsequently formed grounds to arrest the accused however the accused initially failed to comply with demands and resisted arrest. Officers ultimately gained control of the accused and he was taken into custody.

A 44-year-old from Blyth has been charged with Domestic Assault, Forcible Confinement, Resist Arrest and three counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order.

Grocery Store Employee Assaulted After Advising Customer Of Physical Distancing

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members were called to attend a grocery store in Paris in the County of Brant in response to an employee being assaulted by a customer.

County of Brant OPP members attended Sobeys Grocery on April 5, 2020 at approximately 2:45 p.m. and found that a customer was being advised of the store rules regarding social distancing and an altercation occurred between the customer and the teenage employee.

The customer then entered the grocery store and a second altercation took place with a manager of the store.

Police have charged George RUTHERFORD 77-years-old of the County of Brant with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada:

Assault contrary to Section 266

Uttering threats contrary to Section 254.1(1)(a)

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date to answer to the charge.

Sedan Vs Motorcycle Collision – One Airlifted To Hospital

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On April 6, 2020, at approximately 1:50 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and the Wellesley Fire Department responded to a serious motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle and a sedan on Wellington Road 12 at the Fourth Line of Mapleton Township.

Preliminary investigation revealed that an eastbound sedan and a westbound motorcycle collided when the driver of the sedan attempted to make a left hand turn in front of the motorcycle which lead to the collision.

The Wellington County OPP along with OPP Technical Collision Investigators (TCI) continue to investigate the collision.

The driver of the motorcycle, Patrick BURKE, 57-years-old of Hillsburgh was transported by air ambulance to a trauma centre with serious injuries.

The driver of the sedan, Phoumy HOMSOMBATH, 65-years-old of Kitchener was uninjured and has been charged with Careless Driving – Causing Bodily Harm contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. They will appear in the Ontario Provincial Court on July 15, 2020 to answer to the charge.

Winghamite Arrested For Assault & Coughing On Police

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A Wingham resident is facing a charge of Assault a Peace Officer and domestic assault related charges following an incident that took place in Wingham last week.

On Thursday, April 2, 2020 at approximately 8:23 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to a residence in Wingham to investigate a mental health act occurrence. The subsequent investigation revealed the accused threw an object at his partner. The object missed however a window was damaged in the process.

During the arrest of the accused he became assaultive and actively resisted arrest. The accused also purposely began to cough at the arresting officer in an attempt to harm the officer.

The accused was charged with the following offences:

Domestic Assault

Domestic Mischief

Assault a Peace Officer

He has since been released from custody with a court date to take place later this summer.

Suspended Driver Arrested In Seaforth

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a St. Thomas resident with a number of charges following a traffic stop that took place in Seaforth last week.

Shortly before 9:00 a.m. on April 3, 2020 a Huron OPP officer stopped a cross-over utility vehicle on Main Street North in Seaforth. The officer spoke with the driver and learned the driver currently held a suspended driver’s licence. As such the driver was placed under arrest and search was conducted.

The investigating officer located open alcohol inside the vehicle, as well, the driver was found to be in possession of a suspected opioid.

Megan BECKON, 35 years of age from St. Thomas has been charged with the following offences:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid

Driving While Under Suspension

Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with an Open Container of Liquor

She has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 24, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Break And Enters To Trailers Near Clifford

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking tips from the public to help catch the person(s) responsible for some recent break, enter and thefts that took place at a trailer park west of Clifford.

Sometime between April 1st and April 6, 2020 those responsible attended the trailer park located on Driftwood Beach Road. Once inside the trailer park the thieves broke into two trailers and a shed.

The only items that have been reported as stolen at this time are four wheels from a power golf cart.

The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to be around $1,000.

Theft Of Dump Trailer

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of a dump trailer from an address on West Street in Mitchell at approximately 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 2020. The trailer is a black Action 6 x 12 foot dump trailer, with an approximate value of $8700.

Police believe a Uhaul moving truck may have been involved in the theft. Members of the Perth County OPP are continuing to investigate and are seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. CAT Excavator Stolen From Near Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The North Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a theft of a transport truck, trailer, and mini excavator from a business just north of Listowel. Sometime overnight of April 2 2020, suspects attended the business and stole the three pieces of equipment, which have a combined value in excess of $95000.

The truck and trailer have since been recovered, but the mini excavator is still outstanding. The excavator is described as a 2013 yellow CAT 305E hydraulic excavator. On the side of the excavator there is a red business logo, which is a red circle with the name Donegan’s” in white writing.

Repeat Offender Arrested In Listowel

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A diligent Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer located a wanted male in Listowel on April 6 2020. Shortly after 4:30 p.m., officers were dealing with the male on an unrelated matter, and the officer was aware that he had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. The officer confirmed the information, and then arrested him on the strength of the warrant.

A search of the male revealed that he was in possession of methamphetamine, and he is now facing additional charges.

Jordan HILL, 21, of the Municipality of North Perth, has been charged with:

Possession of a Schedule I Substance

Fail to Comply with Recognizance

Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused has been released on the Perth County charges, and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford, at a later date, to answer to the charges.

Blyth Repeat Offender Arrested In Clinton – REID

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Blyth resident will be making a trip to court later this year following his arrest and subsequent charges in relation to an incident that took place in Clinton last week.

Shortly before midnight on Wednesday, April 1st, 2020 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers observed the accused operating a minivan on Albert Street in Clinton. Officers stopped the vehicle and while police were confirming the licence status of the driver he left his vehicle and went into a nearby apartment building. Moments later police received confirmation the driver was in fact prohibited from driving and was also currently serving a probation sentence in the community officers.

Shortly thereafter police located the male inside the apartment complex and he was arrested and released without incident. Gerald REID, 41 years of age, from Blyth has been charged with Prohibited Driving and Fail to Comply with a Probation Order. He has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for June 8, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Another ATV Stolen

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers continue to investigate a recent theft of an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that was stolen from a rural property located east of Exeter.

Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2, 2020 and 10 a.m. on Friday, April 3, 2020 those responsible attended the Elimville Line property where they gained access into a shed. Once inside the shed they located the ATV and managed to drive off undetected.

The keys to the ATV had been left with the machine.

The Stolen ATV is described as a red 2007 Honda TRX 4-wheel drive model valued at approximately $1,500.

Water Softeners, Pumps & Batteries Stolen From Seaforth Construction Site

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a break, enter and theft that took place at a construction site located on Huron Street in Seaforth.

The break-in and theft occurred sometime between 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 2nd and the morning of Friday, April 3, 2020. Those responsible entered into the home under construction and once inside they searched for items to steal.

The following items were reported as stolen:

A Milwaukee charger and two sets of batteries

Two Eco-soft brand 2-in-1 water softener units

Two Liberty brand hydromatic submersible sump pumps

The value of the stolen items is estimated to be around $2,000.

Fishing Equipment Stolen From Boat

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are investigating a recent theft of fishing equipment that took place just north of Bayfield.

On March 28, 2020 between 10:00 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. someone attended a property located at Waters Edge Drive and gained access into a fishing boat. Once inside the thief stole three fishing rods and two depth finders.

The total value of the stolen goods is estimated to be close to $3,000.

Methamphetamine Bust In Listowel – Police Withhold Name

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – At around 10:30 a.m. on April 4 2020, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a male on Livingstone Ave North in Listowel, and knew that he was currently wanted.
