Hand Gun Seized In Kitchener Drug Bust

On Friday, November 20, 2020, members of the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Drugs and Firearms Team with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team conducted a Criminal Code search warrant at a Motel in Kitchener. Officers searched a unit and recovered a loaded handgun with ammunition. They also seized suspected cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin, cannabis marihuana and pills. As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old adult male and a 34-year-old adult female both from Kitchener now face several criminal code and drugs and firearms-related charges. On November 17, 2020, at approximately 4:15 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police arrested a 23-year-old Kitchener male on Holborn Drive in Kitchener, in connection to the shooting that occurred on Westwood Drive in Kitchener on November 12, 2020. The male has been held for a bail hearing and faces several charges including Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm, and Discharging a Firearm from a Motor Vehicle. The Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate a shooting incident that occurred on Westwood Drive in Kitchener on November 12, 2020, at approximately 5:25 a.m. Investigators are looking to identify and speak with the male captured in these images. On Thursday, November 11, 2020, at approximately 5:25 a.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Westwood Drive in Kitchener for reports of shots fired. There was an extensive police presence in the area for most of the day. Police have located evidence confirming a shooting occurred and believe it is a targeted incident between individuals known to each other. Costy DESSOURCES – Drug Trafficking

(NIPIGON, ON) On November 22, 2020 at 8:37pm officers from the Nipigon detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 11-17 in Lyon Township (west of Nipigon) for a Highway Traffic Act offence.

Further investigation lead to officers locating and seizing a quantity of Oxycodone pills. The driver was also found to have an outstanding arrest warrant.

Costy DESSOURCES age 50 of Toronto, ON is charged with.

Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remanded into custody on November 23, 2020.

Shooting – Description of vehicle and person of interest released

(KILLALOE, ON) – Members of the Killaloe OPP Detachment continue to investigate the incident involving a 20 year old woman from Etobicoke, who was airlifted to hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Shortly after 2:00 p.m., on Friday October 2, 2020, members of the Killaloe OPP detachment responded to a 911 call at a residence on Silas Lane, in the Township of Madawaska Valley. Investigation has revealed the victim received the gunshot wound while walking off trail in the area of John Watson Road and Silas Lane.

Police information suggests that a vehicle seen in the area was an older model dark green GMC or Chevrolet pickup truck. The driver has been described as a white male, 40-60 years of age with light brown hair and a beard. The passenger has been described as a white male 30-40 years of age. The OPP would like to speak to these individuals.

Rafal EWERTOWSKI – 140 in an 80

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On November 15, 2020 at 3:05 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a (red) car for excessive speeding on Highway 6, near Grey Road 17, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

This motor vehicle was travelling over 140 kilometres per hour (km/h) in the posted 80 km/h speed limit.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged the driver, Rafal EWERTOWSKI, 24 years-of-age, from Toronto, ON with stunt driving – 50km/h or more over posted speed limit, contrary to section 172(1) Highway Traffic Act.

This driver was issued a Provincial Summons, a seven day drivers licence suspension and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.

Jonathan HALEY – Drive While Suspended & Impaired Driving

(TILLSONBURG, ON) – On November 18, 2020, at approximately 2:50 p.m., the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a traffic complaint on Highway 3, heading into Tillsonburg.

Officers located the vehicle and driver at a residence soon after. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent to police, that the driver was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was transported to the detachment where a Drug Recognition Evaluation (DRE) test was conducted.

As a result, 26-year-old Jonathan HALEY of Tillsonburg was charged with the following offences:

More Impaired Drivers – MARCANO, HERTEL & HUIGEN

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment have charged three individuals over the weekend with impaired driving in Haldimand County.

On Friday November 20, 2020 at 9:51 p.m., OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 3 in Cayuga.

During the interaction with the driver, it was determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

Officers administered an Approved Screening Device test which the driver had failed.

OPP has charged 66-year-old Simeon MARCANO of Jarvis, Haldimand County, ON with:

Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

On Saturday November 21, 2020 at 9:22 a.m., OPP responded to Indian Line Road in Hagersville after a passer-by noticed a person behind the wheel of a vehicle that appeared to be asleep.

When officers spoke with the driver, signs of impairment were detected.

A Drug Recognition Evaluator administered tests and investigation determined the driver was impaired by drug.

A search of the vehicle also located a quantity of illicit drugs.

OPP has charged 33-year-old Jordan HERTEL of Hagersville, Haldimand County, ON with:

On Sunday November 22, 2020 at 4:44 p.m., OPP responded to Haldimand Road 50 in Dunnville for a vehicle that had collided into the ditch.

Haldimand County paramedics attended and confirmed the driver was not injured.

While speaking with the driver, signs of impairment were detected.

A Drug Recognition Evaluator administered tests and investigation determined the driver was impaired by drug.

OPP has charged 37-year-old John HUIGEN of Dunnville, Haldimand County, ON with:

Impaired operation of a motor vehicle

All of the accused individuals had their drivers licences suspended for a minimum of 90 days and vehicles were impounded.

They are all to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

Huron Perth Now In Orange-Restrict

Effective Monday, November 23 at 12:01 a.m., the Province of Ontario is moving the region of Huron Perth Public Health into the Orange-Restrict level of the Keeping Ontario Safe & Open Framework.

“As the number of cases rises across the province and in our area, we must all follow public health measures,” says Dr. Miriam Klassen, Medical Officer of Health. “To protect our most vulnerable members and our healthcare capacity, it’s critical that we stop the community spread across Huron and Perth. Things can change quickly, so we need to be vigilant now to flatten the curve of this second wave.”

Huron-Perth Update (20Nov)

Huron Perth data that was reported today includes 10 new confirmed community cases, for a cumulative total of 264. Ten cases were resolved, therefore there continues to be 48 active cases in Huron Perth. As reported today with regards to the outbreak at Cedarcroft Place, there are 43 confirmed cases in residents (30 active) and 19 positive staff (1 active). A fourth round of prevalence testing is happening today and Monday.

There is a cluster of cases HPPH continues to investigate involving numerous households connected by social interactions in Perth and Huron.

Homicide – Suspect Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – On November 19, 2020, approximately 8:22 p.m., a member of the public located a male with serious injuries laying on Coldwater Road, near Emily Street, Orillia. Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS) attended to find the male suffering from serious trauma. The 34 year old male, from Orillia, was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

As a result, a homicide investigation is being conducted by the Orillia OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). The deceased has been identified as Derek SIMMERSON, age 34, from Orillia.

On November 22, 2020, shortly after 11:00 a.m., members of the Orillia detachment of the OPP arrested a male, age 19, from Severn Township, in relation to this investigation. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released when available.

Drug Bust – TYSON & MCLENNAN

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – In the early hours of the 22nd of November, 2020 members of the Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were conducted speed enforcement on Highway 11 in Gravenhurst. A vehicle was stopped for speeding, and as a result of their investigation, three parties, two adults and one young person, were arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.

With the assistance of the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Central Region Canine, a search of the vehicle was conducted at the Bracebridge OPP Detachment. As a result, officers seized the following items:

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – On November 21, 2020 at approximately 11:59p.m. Officers from the Rainy River District Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 11/71, in Alberton Township.

A motor vehicle (pickup truck), travelling westbound lost control, rolled over and came to rest in the ditch. The passenger of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene and the driver was transported to the Fort Frances Hospital for medical treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Matthew PARISE, age 27 of Rainy River, ON.

Officers conducted an investigation with the assistance of the OPP Traffic Collision Investigation (TCI) unit. Upon speaking with the female driver officers determined she was impaired by alcohol. The female was arrested and an officer attended the Fort Frances Hospital for breath testing.

As a result Kendra MORRISON, age 27, of Chapple has been charged with;

Operation causing death, contrary to section 320.14(3) of the Criminal Code.

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code.

Dangerous operation causing death, contrary to section 320.13(3) of the Criminal Code.

MORRISON is being held in custody and will appear in Bail court Monday November 23, in Fort Frances.

Highway 11/71 has now re-opened.

Double Fatal Collision – Names Of Deceased Released

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – Members of the County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to attend a multiple vehicle collision on Vanessa Road West of Simcoe Street in the County of Brant at approximately 7:45 pm. November 21, 2018.

OPP members along with County of Brant Fire and County of Brant Ambulance service attended the scene of the collision.

Police have determined that two vehicles collided on Vanessa Road west of Simcoe Street the driver of the first vehicle was Michael KOVACEVIC 25-years old from Stoney Creek. The driver of the second vehicle was Dillon HENRY 29-years-old from Norfolk County. Both of these drivers were pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in one of the vehicles a 29-year-old from Norfolk County was also taken to local hospital via ground ambulance with serious injuries.

After the initial collision a third vehicle struck one of the cars involved in the initial collision and the driver of that third vehicle was not injured.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators (TTCI) have were deployed to the scene to continue the investigation. Vanessa Road has reopened.

Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – On November 21, 2020, at approximately 12:15 a.m. East Algoma Provincial Police (OPP) and the Algoma Paramedic Services responded to a single motor vehicle collision at Hillside Drive South and Highway 108 in Elliot Lake.

Robert MACCOLLUM, 61 years of age from Elliot Lake was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

The investigation is ongoing under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OCC-OFPS). A post mortem examination is expected to take place in Sault Ste. Marie.

5 Churches Vandalized

On Sunday November 22nd, 2020, during the morning hours police responded to the report of mischief being done to St George’s Anglican Church and soon had calls for similar vandalism being done to the Church of Nazarene, Georgian Shores United Church, and First Baptist Church.

As part of the investigation police attended the Beth Ezekiel Synagogue and located similar mischief there also. Police collected evidence during the investigation and will be collecting further evidence in the near future, as this matter remains under investigation.
