(CENTRE WELLINGTON TOWNSHIP, ON) -On April 29, 2014 at approximately 11:02 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting a R.I.D.E. Program on Tower Street South, Centre Wellington Township. A female driver of a 2000 Buick entered the check point and showed signs of alcohol consumption. A roadside screening device test was administered which resulted in a fail. She was brought to the South Wellington Operations Centre in Rockwood for further testing.

The Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and his motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Ruth SPITZER age 50 of Fergus has been charged with Over 80 mgs contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. She is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on May 16, 2014 to answer to the charge.

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at approximately 5:40 am, Officers from the Armstrong and Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a road wash out on Highway 527, approximately 1 kilometre (km) south of Kab River Bridge. Officers also responded to a serious motor vehicle collision that occurred on Highway 527 at the site of the wash out.

A vehicle was north bound on Highway 527 when a section of Highway 527 gave way as the driver drove over / past the area. Shortly after, a second north bound vehicle approached the wash out. That driver did not observe the section of road had washed away, subsequently drove into the section of road that had washed away, and the vehicle became engulfed in flames. The driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

The driver of the initial vehicle was transported by ambulance to Armstrong Nursing Station with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers from Armstrong and Thunder Bay OPP as well as an OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigator remain on scene.

Highway 527 is closed approximately 20 kms south of Gull Bay First Nation, as well as closed at Highway 811 approximately 160 kms north of Highway 11/17 until further notice.

The investigation is continuing.

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is identifying the operator of a motorcycle, who was involved in a single vehicle collision on April 27, 2014 which took place on St. Clair Parkway.

Robert BLAKE, 50 years of age from Wallaceburg, ON suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision and was airlifted to hospital where he remains.

The Lambton OPP investigation into the collision is continuing.

(ZORRA TOWNSHIP, ON.) – The Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision at approximately 04:51 a.m. this morning on Road 68, west of 31st Line in Zorra Township.

The collision involving a car and a tractor trailer occurred when the car travelling westbound crossed the centre line into the path of the tractor trailer travelling eastbound.

The male driver of the car was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The deceased male has been identified as 31 year old Justin VAN ASSELT of Thamesford.

The collision remains under investigation.

The roads have all now re-opened.

(CALEDON, ON)- On April 28, 2014, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to 2 break and enter investigations which occurred overnight in sheds on Heart Lake Road properties.

Preliminary investigation on both occurrences has revealed that the suspect(s) entered the shed and shop through insecure doors and stole numerous tools and pieces of equipment including a Dewalt drill, Makita angle grinder, Stihl chainsaw, Stihl gas blower, Snap-On impact driver and Makita tool kit

Police are reminding residents to contact the OPP Communications Centre immediately at 1-888-310-1122 to report any suspicious activity or suspicious vehicles in the area. Information such as suspect physical descriptions, suspect vehicles and direction of travel are useful tools for investigators.

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON.) – Members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision on Lisgar Avenue in Tillsonburg on April 25, 2014.

The collision that occurred was between a recycling truck and an e-bike both of which had been traveling southbound on Lisgar Avenue at the time of the collision.

The 39 year old male driver of the recycling truck, Michael SULLIVAN of Brantford has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving.

(Cavan Monaghan Township, ON) – On Monday April 28, members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a Credit Card Fraud from a resident of occurred on King Street..

The victim reported that unknown persons had gained access to her Credit Card information and had made $568.00 worth of purchases in Australia.

(WAWA, ON) – On April 29, 2014 at 11:47, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Superior East Wawa Detachment were on general patrol on Highway 17 in the Township of Rabazo. Officers had occasion to stop a south bound motor vehicle bearing an Alberta license plate.

Investigation by the OPP officers led to the arrest of the driver, 21-year-old Christopher D’ALESSIO of London, Ontario.

The accused stands charged with the following offences:
Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Cannabis Marihuana as per s. 4(1) of the Drug Controlled and Substance Act (CDSA) and with

Possession of a Schedule III Substance – Psilocybin as per s. 4(1) of the CDSA.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in Wawa, Ontario at the Court of Justice.

(CALEDON, ON) – On April 24, 2014 shortly after 12 pm, officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a break and enter in progress on The Gore Road. Investigation revealed that the homeowner returned to her residence and located a male and female outside the home rummaging through an unlocked vehicle. The suspects were alarmed by the homeowner’s arrival and abruptly left the residence in a silver minivan. The victim was behind the motor vehicle at that time and was pushed by the vehicle while they attempted to get out of the driveway.

The driver is described as caucasian, 6’ tall with short dark hair. The female suspect is described as 5’8”, very thin, wearing blue jeans and a black shirt. The vehicle is described as an early 2000’s model minivan, gray or silver, with a damaged rear wiper.

Composite images are being released in the hopes of identifying the two suspects in this investigation.

(TOWN OF NEW TECUMSETH)- On April 29, 2014 at 12:40 a.m., the Nottawasaga Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call indicating there was a fire in a dumpster at a Dufferin Street business in the Town of New Tecumseth.

Police arrived on scene to find two dumpsters on fire. The Town of New Tecumseth Fire Department attended and extinguished the fire; an adjacent building incurred minor smoke damage. This investigation is currently ongoing.

(CALEDON, ON) – On April 28th, 2014 at 11:30 pm, an officer from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol in the vicinity of the Belfountain Conservation area located at 10 Credit Road. The officer located an unattended black Honda Civic and while in the vicinity, observed 2 males walking out of the Conservation area on foot. The males approached the marked cruiser and the officer warned them about trespassing in the Conservation area. While the officer was engaged in conversation with the 2 males, the driver of the vehicle left the area at a high rate of speed. Subsequently, the officer pursued the vehicle as he was evading police. The officer conducted a vehicle stop on Bush Street.

Upon speaking with the male driver, the officer detected a strong odour of drugs, believed to be marijuana coming from the inside of the motor vehicle. Further, the officers located drug paraphernalia at the driver’s feet. The male was arrested and a search uncovered a quantity of drugs, believed to be marijuana, inside the leg of the accused’s pants and inside the motor vehicle.

In conclusion, Richard MacKenzie DOMJAN, 20, of Erin was arrested and charged with Possession of a Schedule II substance and is facing a charge under the Trespass to Property Act.

He was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on June 9th, 2014
