Drinking Driver Caught Doing 136 in an 80

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – A 43 year old driver will be without a driver’s licence for a week after he was stopped for speeding on May 6, 2014. At 10:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was travelling westbound on Amberley Road east of Lucknow when he observed a Toyota Solara travelling eastbound at a high rate of speed. The officer confirmed the driver’s speed with a RADAR device and a high speed of 136 km/h was registered; 56 km/h over the 80 km/h speed limit.

Upon stopping the driver the officer detected the driver had been consuming alcohol. A roadside screening test was performed and the driver registered a warn range suspension.

The 43 year old male from North Huron was charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle. He will have to Provincial Offences Court – Goderich on June 3, 2014 to answer to the charge. He was also served with a seven day driver’s licence suspension for the racing offence and a three day suspension for the warn range violation. His motor vehicle was towed from the scene and will now be impounded for seven days.

ALPR Helps Get Disqualified Driver Jeffrey DeJONG Off The Road

(HURON EAST, ON) – A 55 year old male is facing charges of Drive While Disqualified and Refuse to Provide Roadside Breath Sample following a traffic stop on May 4, 2014. At approximately 10:30 p.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic at the intersection of Adam Street and Goderich Street West in Seaforth. His cruiser was equipped with an automatic license plate reader (ALPR) computer device. As he was monitoring traffic, a GMC Sierra pickup approached the stop sign on Adam Street and the ALPR immediately sounded an audible alert. The ALPR identified the attached license plate as being registered to a suspended driver.

The officer followed the driver a short distance and was able to stop the driver at a residence on Harpurhey Road. Officers spoke with the driver and while doing so they detected the driver had been drinking alcohol. The officer demanded the driver provide a sample of his breath into a roadside screening device however the driver refused to provide a sample.

Further checks confirmed the driver’s identity and the fact he was currently prohibited from driving due to a previous conviction. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Exeter OPP Detachment.

Jeffrey DeJONG, 55 years of age, from Huron East has been charged with Driving While Disqualified and Fail to Provide Breath Sample. He has been released from custody with a court date scheduled for May 26, 2014 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. His motor vehicle was towed from the scene and will be impounded for 45 days.

Huron OPP Recover Burnt Out Stolen Vehicle

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Shortly before 10:00 a.m. on May 7, 2014 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to Crediton Road near McTaggart Line to recover a stolen vehicle. Police received information from a passerby that there was a burnt out vehicle in the drainage ditch.

The 2001 Dodge Caravan had been completely destroyed by fire. Officers further determined the vehicle had been earlier reported stolen from Main Street in Lucan on May 6, 2014 sometime between 6:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.

THEFT FROM CONSTRUCTION SITE

(COLLINGWOOD, ONTARIO) Officers from the Collingwood and The Blue Mountains detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are currently investigating a theft from a construction site in the Town of Collingwood and are asking for the public’s help in solving this crime.

The theft took place sometime overnight from the 5th of May at 6:00am to the 6th of May at 6:30am where culprit(s) entered a house under construction on Third Street in Collingwood. Once on the property the culprit(s) stole a generator, acetylene torch with a large tank, several spools of copper wire and copper tubing.

Break, Enter and Theft – Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are currently investigating a break, enter and theft at a residence located on John Street in Clinton. The crime took place sometime between 7:00 p.m. on May 2, 2014 and 8:00 p.m. on May 7, 2014.

Those responsible forced entry into the garage through a rear door and once inside they gained entry into the residence through an unlocked door. The thieves stole several items including:

A Sharp 40 inch LCD television
A Sharp DVD/VCR combo player
Two Chinese ceramic vases
Twenty wind up music boxes
Assorted bottles of liquor

The value of the stolen goods is estimated at $10,000.

Theft Of Golf Clubs From Unlocked Garage

(MUNICIPALITY OF NORTH PERTH, ON) The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating the theft of golf clubs from a garage on Walton Ave, North in Listowel.

Investigation revealed that sometime between 5 p.m. on Monday May 05, and 7 a.m. on Tuesday May 06, 2014, an unknown suspect entered the home’s attached garage by means of an unlocked man-door. The suspect searched through the garage and opened the back door of the motor vehicle parked in the garage. A golf bag with all its contents was removed from the back of the vehicle.

The stolen items are described as follows:

– PING #5 wood

Eric HECTOR – Drunk Driving

(ARRAN TWP, ON) – On May 3, 2014 at 7:06 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver in a Bronze colored car driving through Arran Township. Officers located a Bronze colored vehicle near Chesley and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. 24 year old Eric HECTOR of Chatham was charged with Care or control while impaired and Care or control while over 80 milligrams. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 9, 2014 to answer to the charges.

Police Investigating Break In At Car Wash

(WALKERTON, ON) – On May 7, 2014 at 10:38 am, the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an overnight break in at the Walkerton Coin Wash located along Colborne Street North in Walkerton. Sometime between 5:00 pm on May 6, 2014 and 9:00 am on May 7, 2014, the office area was forcibly entered and the computer hard drive was taken. There is no estimate on the value of the hard drive at this time.

19 Year Old Caught Doing 141 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF PERTH EAST, ON) On Wednesday May 07, 2014, shortly after 11 p.m. a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was conducting patrols along Line 29 near road 109 (east of Stratford) when a fast moving vehicle was observed.

The officer activated the police radar and locked the lone west bound vehicle in at a speed of 141 km/h. This is 61 km/h above the posted 80 km/h zone. The vehicle was pulled over and the 19 year old male, a Zorra Twp resident was issued a summons for “race a motor vehicle”. The male is to appear at Stratford Court on May 27, 2014, to answer to this charge. His driver’s licence was suspended for seven days and his 2011 Dodge Pickup Truck has been impounded for a week.

21 Apr 14,

12:32 pm a car versus deer collision from the previous evening was reported to police. The collision occurred on Concession 6 near 18/19 Sideroad.

Police responded to an incident where several kids were playing with a bb gun in an inappropriate manner. Two of the kids had reportedly been struck with a bb but did not receive any injuries. The involved kids and parents had discussion with police about the dangers involved in these actions.

22 April 14,

2:27 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Waterloo St and Elgin St. Port Elgin. A vehicle was north on Waterloo and was struck by a vehicle that was east on Elgin, stopped for the stop sign then proceeded before the way was safe striking the northbound vehicle. No injuries but soreness was reported.

23 April 14,

1:43 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Goderich and Tomlinson St Port Elgin. A vehicle was north on Goderich St turning left into the grocery store when it was rear ended by another northbound vehicle making the same turn. Damage was extensive to both vehicles and the driver of the offending vehicle was charged with following too closely.

1:57 pm Saugeen Shores arrested a 22 year old Saugeen Shores male on a warrant held by Waterloo Regional Police Service for breaching conditions of a previous release.

4:43 pm police observed an intoxicated male in the downtown core of Port Elgin. He was staggering along the side of the road. He was arrested for public intoxication and escorted to the care of a relative.

25 April 14,

9:16 pm police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Goderich St Port Elgin. Two vehicles were travelling north on Goderich St and the vehicle in the center lane changed lanes to go to the curb lane sideswiping the vehicle in the curb lane. The driver of the offending vehicle was charged with changing lanes not in safety.

10:31 pm police stopped a vehicle for speeding and other traffic violations. The driver had been drinking and registered “warn” on the roadside breath test. As a result of this investigation a 41 year old Kincardine female was charged with possession of marihuana under 30 grams, breaching an undertaking and her licence was suspended for three days and she was further charged with speeding.

26 April 14,

1:50 am a vehicle was stopped as being operated by a potential impaired driver. The driver registered a fail on the roadside breath test and was brought to the station. At the police office she refused to provide samples of her breath to do a breath test. A 30 year old Saugeen Shores woman faces charges of refusing to provide a breath sample. The penalties for refusing to provide a sample are the same as impaired driving.

12:37 pm, police responded to a motor vehicle collision at Goderich St and Tomlinson Drive Port Elgin. A vehicle was north on Goderich St and was struck by another vehicle south on Goderich St making a left turn onto Tomlinson. The driver of the turning vehicle was charged. No injuries, both vehicles received moderate damage.

27 April 14,

2:49 am police stopped a vehicle in Port Elgin for driving offences. The driver had an odour of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A roadside test indicated an “Alert“ and his drivers licence was suspended for 3 days. Further investigation revealed alcohol and marihuana in the vehicle and the 27 year old Toronto male was charged with possession of marihuana for the purpose of trafficking and having alcohol readily available.

3:46 pm, sometime overnight someone stole a real estate sign from a house on Bruce St and threw it into a fenced compound across the street. No damage, no suspects.

1:28 am, police began an investigation into a male person carrying what was believed to be a handgun in the waistband of his pants. On the 1st of May this person was arrested by the Halton Regional Police Service in Burlington. A search warrant was conducted on his home in Saugeen Shores and an imitation handgun was seized. A 28 year old Saugeen Shores man faces charges of Carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The Waterloo Regional Police Service are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 53 year-old female from the area of downtown Kitchener. Margaret LEGRAND was last seen downtown on April 25th, 2014. She suffers from a number of health issues that affect her ability to fully care for herself and there is a general concern for her well-being. Anybody who sees Legrand is asked to contact the police at 519-653-7700. Legrand is a white female, 155cm in height, heavy build, brown hair, green eyes, and can often be found wearing black or purple clothing.

On May 7, 2014 at 9:51pm police received a report of two males breaking into a Westminster Dr. Cambridge residence. Police located one suspect who fled on foot after a brief altercation with officers. South Division officers set up a perimeter and a Police canine team was brought in. Within an hour the suspect was located in a backyard shed of a home on Argyle St. A 20 yr old Cambridge male was taken into police custody and has been charged with Break/Enter with intent, Assault Police with intent to resist, and Weapons Dangerous.
