PORTABLE GENERATOR STOLEN

(Otonabee South Monaghan Township, ON) – On Sunday May 11, members of the Peterborough County OPP were called to investigate a report of a theft from a residence that occurred on County Road 28.

Unknown suspect(s) attended a residence on County Road 28 and made their way to the rear yard. In the rear yard they entered a garden shed and stole a Gas Generator and 5 gallons of gas. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction.

Stolen is a Honda Gas Generator model 1500 and 5 gallons of Gasoline. Value of theft $2000

OPP INVESTIGATE TWO VEHICLE PERSONAL INJURY COLLISION IN ESSA

(Essa Township, ON) -At 6:11 a.m. May 12,2014 Nottawasaga OPP were dispatched to a two vehicle personal injury collision at intersection of King’s Highway 89 and Kindlers road in Essa Township.

Upon arrival police two vehicles in south ditch near guardrails and 2 involved parties were taken to Stevenson Memorial Hospital with non-life threatening minor injuries by Simcoe County EMS.

Investigation is continuing with no charges laid at this time. If any persons witnessed this collision they are asked to contact Provincial Constable Rotar of the Nottawasaga OPP at (705)-939-1939.

GUNS RECOVERED

(HUNTSVILLE, ON) On Friday May 9, 2014 just after 8:00pm Huntsville Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was made aware of a break in that occurred on Brunel Rd., in the town of Huntsville.

The victim came home from work to find that his back door to the inside of his residence had been left open. He went into his bedroom to find that the wooden closet door was off its hinges and his gun vault was missing from inside the closet.

On Sunday May 11, 2014 the investigation led to the recovery of all the firearms. Still outstanding are the PS3 video games, cash, the bottle of alcohol and the hunting knife. As a result of the investigation an 18 year old male from Huntsville has been arrested and charged with Possession of a Firearm, contrary to prohibition order, Break and Enter, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Break and Enter to steal a firearm and Fail to Comply with Probation order. The accused was held for a bail hearing and will appear in Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 12, 2014 to answer to his charges.

Huntsville OPP is continuing their investigation into this break and enter.

Napanee – Mischief, and Break and Enter, Theft – Adult Male Charged

(NAPANEE), On Saturday the 10th of May 2014, the Napanee detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a mischief that took place on West St., Napanee to a residence. They also received a report of a break and enter, and a theft from residence that took place on Dundas St., Napanee.

Investigation revealed that on the 10th of May a window screen and frame was damaged at an apartment on West St., a break and enter, and theft of various antique and vintage coins were stolen from the residence on Dundas St West., Napanee.

On the 11th of May 2014, Adam SWEET, a 32 year old male of Napanee, Ontario was arrested and charged 2 counts of break and enter, 2 counts of mischief under $5000.00 and one count of theft under $5000.00, contrary to the Criminal Code.

SWEET was held in custody for a Bail Hearing on the 12nd of May, 2014

MISCHIEF ON REID’S LANE

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Sunday May 11th 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the report of a mischief on Reid’s Lane in Tudor-Cashel Township. Investigation revealed that sometime between April 12th and May 10th a door was damaged on a boathouse and a window was damaged on a cabin.

Road Rage

(North Dundas) – On 10May14, at approximately 10:30pm, SD&G OPP officers responded to a report of a domestic incident on County Road 3, North Dundas Township.

The investigation revealed that a 24yr old male (from South Dundas) had run his vehicle into another vehicle on County Road 3, North Dundas in attempt to get the male driver to stop. The vehicle ended up going off the road and sustained minor damage.

The 24yr old male later turned himself into police and faces charges of:

– Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
– Assault
– Mischief Endangering Life
– Utter Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm

He was held in custody pending an appearance in Cornwall court.

DRINKING DRIVER NABBED TRYING TO AVOID RIDE CHECK

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Region Highway Enforcement Team officers were conducting a RIDE check on Brant Road 22 at Sawmill Road in the County of Brant.

At approximately 2:21 p.m. Saturday May 10th, 2014, officers were conducting a RIDE check when they observed a vehicle attempt to avoid the check. Officers stopped an Oldsmobile a short distance away from the RIDE check. While the officer was talking to the driver he could smell the odour of alcohol. The male driver was given the Roadside Screening Test. As a result of the test the driver was taken to the County of Brant OPP Detachment for Intoxilyzer tests.

Peter SOLSKI 57 years of age from Hamilton Region is facing the following criminal charge

Drive over 80 milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content

The accused is scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on June 6th, 2014 to answer to the charge.

BREAK AND ENTER TO SHED ON HIGHWAY 28

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Saturday May 10th 2014, an Officer from the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was dispatched to the report of a break and enter on Highway 28 south in the Municipality of Highlands East. Investigation revealed that sometime between April 02nd and May 10th a shed was forcibly entered. Property reported stolen included an electric drill and battery charger.

BREAK AND ENTER TO GARAGE ON LEWIS ROAD

(Bancroft, Ontario) – On Saturday the 10th of May 2014, the Bancroft detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received the report of a break and enter on Lewis Road in the Municipality of Highlands East. Investigation revealed that sometime between April 19th and May 10th, a garage was forcibly entered. Property reported stolen included a generator, wake boards, life jackets, an air compressor, boat props and ice augers.

OPP INVESTIGATING THEFT OF BICYCLE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police, Norfolk County Detachment is investigating the theft of a bicycle from an Auty Street, Waterford, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Sunday, May 11, 2014 at approximately 4:45 p.m., unknowns attended the address and removed an unlocked bicycle from the front of the residence.

The bicycle can be described as a purple 20 inch BMX bicycle with whitewall tires.

The theft is valued at approximately $700 dollars.

ALERT OFFICER AVOIDS COLLISION – IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment has charged a 37 year old male after police stopped a vehicle at a Main Street, Courtland, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 10, 2014, at approximately 12:58 a.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of Talbot Street and Main Street, when the patrolling officer had to act quickly in order to avoid a collision with another vehicle on the roadway. The vehicle was subsequently stopped and investigated.

As a result of investigation, police arrested and charged 37 year old James Christopher KLEIN of Norfolk County, Ontario with impaired driving and driving over the legal limit.

He is to appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

VEHICLE FAILS TO STOP FOR POLICE – MALE ARRESTED

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment have charged a 26 year old male after a vehicle failed to stop for police at a Windham Road 14, Windham, Norfolk County, Ontario, address.

On Saturday, May 12, 2014 at approximately 12:22 p.m., police were conducting patrols in the area of Windham Road 14 and Windham East Quarter Line Road when a vehicle attracted an officer’s attention.

Officers activated the cruisers emergency equipment and attempted to stop the vehicle which was travelling east bound on Windham Road 14 however the vehicle failed to stop for police. The vehicle and driver were subsequently located at an address on Windham Road 14 at which time the driver was taken into custody without further incident.

Charged with the following offences is 26 year old David Daniel MINER of Norfolk County, Ontario.

Fail to stop for police
Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
Possession of Methamphetamine
Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
Flight while pursued by peace officer
Driving while under suspension

He will appear in Provincial Court, Simcoe at a later date to answer to the charges.

STOLEN VEHICLE

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment received a report of a stolen vehicle from a North Walsingham Townline Road, North Walsingham, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Saturday, May 10, 2014 between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., unknowns attended the address and proceeded to remove a vehicle that was parked in driveway of the residence.

The vehicle is described as a black 2010, Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck.

The Norfolk County OPP Detachment is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

THUNDER BAY OPP INVESTIGATE FATAL COLLISION ON HIGHWAY 527

(THUNDER BAY, ON) On Saturday, May 10, 2014 at approximately 6:00 pm, officers from Armstrong and Thunder Bay Detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), as well as Shuniah Fire Department and Ambulance responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 527 approximately 80 kms north of Highway 11/17.

The driver of a 2008 Ford truck was northbound on Highway 527 when the driver left the roadway, struck a large rock in the south bound ditch with the vehicle coming to rest on the passenger side in the south bound lane of Highway 527.

The driver of the vehicle, Dustin PASCOE, 24 years of age, from Marathon, Ont was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The investigation is continuing.

CITIZEN ALERTS POLICE TO DRINKING DRIVER

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), a West Region Highway Enforcement Team officer stopped a vehicle that had been called in by an alert citizen on the 403 Highway.

At approximately 11:35 p.m. Saturday May 10th, 2014, the officer was advised that a citizen had observed a Hyundai SUV being driven in an erratic manner, west bound on the 403 Highway. The officer stopped the vehicle a short time later and while talking to the female driver, he observed all the usual signs of impairment by alcohol. The driver was taken to the County of Brant OPP Detachment for Intoxilyzer tests.

Connie BEACH 44 years of age from the City of Brantford is facing the following criminal charges

Impaired Driving
Drive over 80 milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content

The accused is scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on June 20th, 2014 to answer to the charges.
