YOUNG DRIVER ARRESTED IN POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON)- On Monday May 19, 2014 at 02:37 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Wellington Road at Bradley Avenue located in the City of London. At the time of the stop police discovered a quantity of marijuana within the vehicle.

As a result of an investigation police have charged a 17 year old female driver of London, ON with Possession of a Schedule II substance- Cannabis Marihuana – under 30grams as per Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act.

The accused was released from police custody by way of an Appearance Notice (AN) and is scheduled to appear in a London court room at a later date to speak to the charges.

Every day, four more Canadians are killed and 175 more are injured due to crashes related to alcohol and/ or drugs. Liquor Charges At Lucknow RIDE

(LUCKNOW, ON) – On May 16, 2014 at 9:49 pm, members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Ross Street in Lucknow when a Red Buick stopped. Officers found a quantity of open alcohol in the vehicle. 20 year old Alexander HOGAN of Ashfield-Colborne Wawanosh Township and 20 year old Ryan SHOULDICE of Huron East are each facing a charge of Open liquor other than residence, licenced premise or private place.

Joseph CZERNAI – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX COUNTY, ON)- On Monday May 19, 2014 at 02:41 a.m. members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on HWY 402 at Hickory Drive located in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc. At the time of the stop police confirmed that the driver had been drinking. A roadside screening test was administered and the driver registered a “FAIL”. The driver was placed under arrest at the scene and transported to the Strathroy OPP detachment for further tests.

As a result of an investigation police have charged Joseph CZERNAI, age 47 of Strathroy, ON with Driving with More than 80 mgs. of Alcohol in Blood as per Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was released from police custody by way of a Promise to Appear (PTA) and is scheduled to appear in a London court room on June 24, 2014 to speak to the charges.

RESIDENTIAL BREAK-IN – FOOD AND CHANGE STOLEN

(MUNICIPALITY OF MEAFORD, ON) – On Friday, May 16, 2014, at approximately 8:12 a.m., Grey County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a break-in to a residence on Aiken Street in the Municipality of Meaford. The incident occurred sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 15th.

Unknown person(s) entered the residence through an unlocked door. Some food items, dish soap and a jar of coins containing approximately $500 were taken.

John ROBSON – Drunk Driving

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – On Sunday May 18, 2014 Quinte West OPP responded to County Rd 40 at approximately 7:15am for the report of a single motor vehicle rollover collision.

When police arrived on scene they were met by the driver of the vehicle. After a short investigation police determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been drinking and was subsequently arrested.

22 year old John ROBSON of Belleville has been charged with Impaired Operation as well as Driving with More than 80mgs of Alcohol in Blood. The accused is to appear in court in June.

The male was also transported to hospital where he was treated for minor injuries.

Law Enforcement Torch Run Comes To Picton

Members of the OPP, Correctional Services of Canada and other law enforcement agencies will bring the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics to Picton on Thursday, May 22nd.

The event will commence at 9:30 am at the Crystal palace (375 main Street) and loop through the downtown area. From Picton, the Torch Run will move to Napanee.

Officers and volunteers will have their buckets out, seeking donations to support Special Olympics Ontario.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is a running event in which officers and athletes run with the “Flame of Hope”. Funds raised through the Torch Run assist programs which directly impact all local community-based Special Olympics activities.

It is through the dedication, commitment and passion of the people in Law Enforcement that enables the Ontario program to continue to be not only the #1 fundraising arm for Special Olympics Ontario, but a world-class program recognized Internationally for raising in excess of $1,000,000 each and every year!

Dillon HUNT – 130 in an 80, Drunk Driving

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On May 17, 2014 at 1:22 am, a South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 19 in Brant Township saw a Yellow Jeep moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle speed was displayed on radar at 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. The officer stopped the vehicle and found that the driver had been drinking alcohol. 22 year old Dillon HUNT of Brant Township has been charged with Operate over 80 milligrams and Speeding. He is scheduled to appear in court on June 9, 2014 to answer to the charges.

POLICE SEEK ASSISTANCE IN SERIOUS ASSAULT ON M’CHIGEENG ELDER

(M’CHIGEENG FIRST NATION, ON) – The UCCM Anishnaabe Police and the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) North East Region Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, Detective Inspector Tracy DOBBIN continue to investigate a serious assault in M’Chigeeng First Nation, Ontario.

On Sunday, May 11, 2014, between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m., an M’Chigeeng First Nation elder was assaulted inside his residence on Back Street. The 70 year old male victim was discovered later that night by a neighbour who contacted paramedics. As a result the victim was transported to hospital where he remains in critical but stable condition.

TWO MORE CHARGED WITH ALCOHOL RELATED DRIVING OFFENCES

(ESSEX COUNTY, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged two more people this weekend for alcohol related driving offences.

Both offences occurred Sunday, May 18, 2014. The first one occurred in Leamington on Highway 77 just after midnight. Officers were dispatched to a report of a vehicle in the ditch. They located a female still behind the wheel of the vehicle exhibiting signs of impairment.

Allison INGHELBRECHT, age 23 of Wheatley was charged with Care or Control While Impaired and Care or Control Over 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content. She will appear in a Leamington court on June 5, 2014.

Later that day, officers located a male driving a pickup truck on Manning Road just south of Baseline Road in Tecumseh, who exhibited signs of impairment.

David WHITFIELD, age 33 of Tecumseh, was charged with Impaired Driving and Exceed 80 Milligrams Blood Alcohol Content. He will appear in a Windsor court on July 3, 2014.

Karley HAMELIN – Drinking and Driving

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On May 18th, 2014 at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police were eastbound on Mosley Street near 13th Street when a motor vehicle passed them at a high rate of speed.

Police followed this motor vehicle an observed it showed signs of impairment as a result it was stopped near First Street. A further Police investigation confirmed that the driver was operating this motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.

Charged with “Impaired Operation” is Karley HAMELIN 25 years old from Essa Twp., Ontario. First appearance is June 10th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

THERE ARE SOMETHINGS YOU DON’T BRING TO AN OPP DETACHMENT

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On May 19th, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m. a male attended the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police to see an individual we had in our cells. When a member of the Huronia West OPP spoke to this person he quickly determined he was intoxicated and was subsequently apprehend under the Liquor Licence Act. A further Police check of this individual revealed that besides being intoxicated and attending an OPP Detachment he was also in possession of a quantity of Cannabis Marihuana.

Charged with “Possession Schedule II – Cannabis Marihuana” is Ravi SITARAM 21 years old from Scarborough, Ontario. First appearance is July 8th, 2014 in Collinwood court.

Kirsten COX – Assault Peace Officer

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On May 18th, 2014 at approximately 4:00 p.m., a member of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police who was monitoring the entrance line to the Electric Element Event on Beach Drive observed a female who showed signs of intoxication. This female was apprehended under the Liquor Licence Act of Ontario for her safety.

A further OPP investigation into this individual’s level of intoxication resulted in her first being transported to the onsite medical tent for the above event. Once there she became impatient and aggressive kicking a second Officer who came to assist the first. This second OPP Officer was kicked several times in the lower body area, but fortunately did not need medical attention.

Charged with “Assault Peace Officer” is Kirsten COX 18 years old from Wasaga Beach. First appearance is July 15th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

CAUSE DISTURBANCE

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On May 18th, 2014 at approximately 1:30 a.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report that 7 to 10 males fighting on in front of a business on Mosley Street and First Street and one of them had a knife.

Upon arrival Police deescalated the situation and located and arrested the male with the above weapon.

Charged with “Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose” is Tristan O. BONNICK 22 years old from St. Catharines, Ontario. First appearance is July 15th, 2014 in Collingwood court.

PARAGLIDER AIRLIFTED TO HOSPITAL

A 47 year old Aylmer, ON man was airlifted to hospital yesterday afternoon May 18, 2014 after the paraglider he was flying crashed into a cliff just east of Port Bruce along the shores of Lake Erie. The crash occurred just after 2pm, just south of Dexter Line, when the experienced paraglider pilot lost control of the aircraft (parachute with seat) and stuck the side the cliff. Malahide Fire Services performed a steep angle rescue of the pilot who was then airlifted to hospital in serious condition.

Elgin County OPP continued to investigate the incident. Transport Canada is not investigating.

POSSESSION OF COCAINE

(WASAGA BEACH, ON.) – On May 18th, 2014 at approximately 2:45 p.m., members of the Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a request from a Wasaga Beach Ontario Parks Warden for assistance with an intoxicated female that was at the gate to Beach Area #1.

Upon arrival a further Police investigation into this female revealed she was in possession of a quantity of Cocaine.

Charged with “Possession for the Purpose Schedule I – Cocaine” and “Possession Schedule I – Cocaine” is Erika L. MAIORANO 22 years old from Brampton, Ontario. First appearance is July 8th, 2014 in Collingwood court.
