HIGHWAY #15 CLOSED – MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION

(MONTAGUE TOWNSHIP, ON) – On May 21, 2014 at approximately 8:05 am the Lanark County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a serious motor vehicle collision on Highway # 15 between Ford Road and MacPherson Road north of Smiths Falls.

The collision involves three vehicles. Highway #15 is closed while police continue the investigation. Detours are in place at Ford Road for northbound traffic and MacPherson Road for southbound traffic.

Highway # 15 is expected to be closed until later this afternoon. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

FEMALE CHARGED FOR THEFT OVER $5000.00

(MARATHON ON) -In September of 2013 a representative for the Marathon Minor Hockey Association reported to police that between the period of October 2012 and July 2013 in excess of $15,000 in cash money was unaccounted for in the Marathon Minor Hockey Association (MMHA) bank account. An investigation began into the missing funds and MMHA financial ledgers were obtained.

On May 15, 2014 a statement was obtained from a female involved in regards to the misappropriation of the funds that had been reported by MMHA.

The female, Trixie GULLIFORD, age 36, from Marathon, ON. was arrested and charged with:

Theft over $5000

She was released from on a Promise to Appear with a court date of July 24, 2014 in Marathon.

LOCAL MALE ARRESTED AFTER COLLISION

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On May 17, 2014 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was contacted by a motorist in regards to a vehicle being operated in an erratic manner on Kawartha Lakes Road 49. Prior to police arrival the vehicle entered the ditch and the driver, who was the lone occupant, exited the vehicle.

The driver then walked away from the vehicle and hitched a ride a short time after the collision. However, OPP officers were able to locate the accused and subsequently arrested Adam PATTERSON, 25 years of age, of Bobcaygeon.

The accused has been charged with driving while his ability was impaired and driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood, contrary to the Criminal Code. Mr. PATTERSON will appear in court, in Lindsay, on June 12, 2014.

UPDATE – ESCAPEE LOCATED

(KINGSTON, ON) – On May 21, 2014 at approximately 9:05am, Federal Inmate Cale David PRESNAIL, 40, was arrested by the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement (ROPE) Unit and Kingston Police officers without incident in the City of Kingston.

On May 19, 2014, he was last seen at the Collins Bay Minimum Institution (formally known as Frontenac Institution). This morning, police received a call by a member of the public indicating that PRESNAIL was possibly in a park.

The Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad would like to thank everyone for their diligence in locating this person.

OPP INVESTIGATING HOME INVASION

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment is investigating a home invasion at an Angling Road, Townsend, Norfolk County, Ontario address.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at approximately 2:38 p.m., police responded to the address after two unknown females attended the residence and gained entry.

Investigation determined that the two suspects attended the residence earlier in the day and had spoken to the homeowner. A short time later, suspects returned and entered the residence where the homeowner confronted both females.

One of the suspects brandished an edged weapon while the other sprayed the home owner with a noxious substance. The homeowner fled to a safe area inside the residence and contacted police. Both suspects then fled from the home and were last seen walking northbound on Angling Road.

Both females are being described as native, dark hair, possibly in their teens, heavy set, wearing dark clothing. One of the females had her hair in a ponytail.

The Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit is continuing to investigate and is seeking assistance from the public. If anyone has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Norfolk County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

ATV PATROLS

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), conducted ATV patrols in the County of Brant over the May long weekend.

Officers patrolled trails around the Town of Paris. Officers warned people for trespassing on the railway property and charged one person for Trespassing at Lions Park while engaged in a prohibited activity (fire).

The County of Brant OPP will continue ATV patrols throughout the summer.

YOUTH CHARGED

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – On May 20, 2014 several complaints were received related to a dune buggy being operated in the area of Hazel Street in the former Verulam Township.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) patrolled the area and located a dune buggy being operated by a 17 year old male. The officer charged the driver with the offence of operating an off road vehicle on a highway, contrary to regulation 316/03 of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). The youth was also issued several warning pertaining to other HTA offences.

The vehicle was pushed home.

Jamie BOUCHA – Drunk Driving

(KENORA, ON) On Tuesday May 20, 2014 just before 1:00pm, members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Hwy 17A, Kenora Township. Police determined the male driver had been consuming alcohol and placed him under arrest. He was transported to the Kenora OPP detachment for further tests.

As a result of this investigation, Jamie BOUCHA, age 36 of Kenora has been charged with Adult Drive with More than .80 mgs of alcohol in 100 ml of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada and Adult Possession of a Schedule II Substance-Cannabis Marihuana under 30 grams contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

He is to appear in Kenora court on June 26, 2014 to answer to the charge.

Braydon MCALLISTER CAUGHT STEALING FROM UNLOCKED VEHICLES

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) – The County of Brant Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), an officer was parked on Amelia Street in the Town of Paris when he observed a male entering unlocked vehicles.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Wednesday May 21st, 2014, an officer observed a male enter two unlocked vehicles on Amelia Street. The male tried a third vehicle door but it was locked and left without gaining entry into the vehicle. The officer arrested the male a short time later.

Braydon MCALLISTER 19 years of age from the County of Brant is facing the following criminal charges

Three counts of Theft Under $5,000.00 from Motor Vehicle

The accused is scheduled to attend Provincial Court in Brantford on June 27th, 2014 to answer to the charges.

81 Year Old Faces Careless Driving Charge For Hitting Two Pedestrians

(WEST PARRY SOUND, ON) – On May 16, 2014 at approximately 9:26 a.m. two adult pedestrians received minor injuries when they were struck by a vehicle. The pedestrians were travelling on James Street when a vehicle came to a stop at Murray Street in the Town of Parry Sound. The pedestrians continued walking, crossing Murray Street, when the vehicle proceeded through the intersection, striking the pedestrians. The West Parry Sound Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the scene.

Driver, William NORRIE, 81 years of age from Parry Sound, was charged with Careless Driving contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP INVESTIGATING MISCHIEF

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON.) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a series of acts of vandalism that was reported on May 17, 2014.

Initial investigation has indicated that an unknown suspect or suspects removed several civic numbers from residences in the Victoria Place subdivision in the former Verulam Township. These are the green number signs that identify individual residences and assist emergency personnel, including fire, ambulance and police, to locate a home.

Numerous garden lights were also removed and then smashed on the roadway, creating a hazard for the local residents.

Assault in store public assistance sought

On May 20, 2014 at 9:42 a.m., the Guelph Police went to the No Frills located at 191 Silvercreek Parkway North regarding a possible domestic assault that occurred in the store. Police were called after it was observed by a member of the public that a male struck a female and then spit on her. It was unknown if the two left the area on foot or in a vehicle.

Police viewed video surveillance that confirmed the alleged acts. The entire incident took place inside the store in the presence of numerous people.

The male is described as possibly Asian, 35-50 years, black hair, glasses, average height and build, and wearing a blue wind-breaker style jacket with a white horizontal stripe on the back, a horizontal striped shirt with a white t-shirt underneath.

The female is described as possibly Asian, 35-50 years, shoulder length straight black hair, glasses, short, medium build and dressed in all black clothing.

Police were unable to locate the two at that time. Police are requesting the assistance of the public in identifying the male and female.

Pervert Alert – Composite Image Released

Waterloo Regional Police continue to investigate this incident and are releasing a composite image and updated descriptors as follows: White male, approximately 20 years old, no facial hair, light brown hair, blue eyes, with a scratch on the right side of his face near his ear. He had a skinny build, possibly 5’4”-5’6” tall, wearing blue jeans which were faded in the knee area, and had no back pockets. He had on a plain brown shirt with no writing or graphics. On Monday May 19, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m., three children under the age of 12 years were playing at the creek bed located off Parkside Drive near the back of the Sunnydale Place complex in Waterloo. A male approached the location and spoke with one of the girls. The male then got closer to her and continued the conversation. He was then seen touching the girl. The children decided to return home and police were called. Police searched the area without success. No one was injured. The male is described as White, approximately 6′ to 6′ 2 medium build in his 20’s. He had light brown hair curly hair and no facial hair. He was wearing blue jeans and a dark colored top. Police request public assistance in locating a Waterloo man. Lino AKORO was last seen at approximately 3:00 pm on Saturday May 17 leaving his residence. Mr. AKORO is described as: Black, approximately 5’10, greying, curly hair, a large gap in his lower teeth. He was last seen wearing a neon type of green jacket. His spoken English is considered very poor. Mr. AKORO has been diagnosed with a number of medical conditions and Police are looking to locate AKORO to check on his well-being. Male arrested assault cause bodily harm

On May 20, 2014 at 6:23 p.m., the Guelph Police went to an Edinburgh Road South residence to investigate an assault complaint. It is alleged that a verbal argument between two male roommates turned physical when one began to punch the other. These punches caused a cut above the left eye of the victim. Police arrested the assaultive male at the scene.

Young SOHN, 21 years of Guelph has been charged with assault cause bodily harm. He will appear in court on July 4, 2014.
