DRIVER ATTEMPTED TO AVOID RIDE CHECK

(Prince Edward County, ON)—On June 07, 2014 at 2:21am officers with the Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment were conducting a RIDE check in the Village of Consecon. A vehicle attempted to avoid the check point and was soon stopped on Mill St. The female driver appeared to have been consuming alcohol.

31-year old Earla STRUTHERS of Prince Edward County was arrested for Operating While Impaired, contrary to Section 253(1)(a) and Operation with over 80 mgs. of Alcohol, contrary to Section 253(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was later released from police custody on a promise to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Picton on June 25, 2014.

OFFENSIVE WEAPON

On Sunday June 8, 2014 at 6:35 pm, police responded to a disturbance in a parking lot of a Woodside Avenue, Cambridge apartment building. Upon arrival, police located and arrested a male in possession of several edged weapons. Police learned that the male had entered the apartment building and tried to break into a unit. When he was unsuccessful, he left the building and remained in the parking lot. The incident was not random. A 41 year old Cambridge male was charged with weapons dangerous, two counts of break and enter with intent, wear disguise with intent,utter threats to cause death, carry concealed weapon and cause disturbance and held for a show cause hearing.

On Saturday June 7th, 2014 just before 11 pm police responded to the Mountview cemetery located on Blenheim Road in the city of Cambridge in response to a break and enter. A building at the cemetery was found vandalized inside and out. Damage is estimated at several thousand dollars. Waterloo Regional Police are continuing their investigation and request anyone with information to contact ext. 2299 or Crime Stoppers 1 800 222 8477.

Break and enter

Cyclist struck

On June 7, 2014 at 6:32 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the parking lot entrance to the plaza on Kortright Road by Edinburgh Road for the report of a cyclist struck. The cyclist received minor injuries and the driver of the motor vehicle was charged with turn not in safety under the Highway Traffic Act.

Duck call

On June 7, 2014 at 1:45 p.m., the Guelph Police went to the area of Royal Road and Woodlawn Road to deal with a duck that would not leave the middle of the road and was causing traffic issues. It was determined that the duck would not leave its babies that had fallen into the sewer grate. Guelph Public Works was called and were able to rescue the babies from the sewer. The happy family was sent on their way.

Impaired driver

On June 8, 2014 at 1:56 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle on Silvercreek Parkway South. Police spoke with the male driver and determined that he was intoxicated and an arrest was made.

A 46-year-old Rhode Island man has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He appeared in bail court on June 8, 2014.

Theft from cars

Over the weekend the Guelph Police received nine reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars. The locations were Grove Street, Suffolk Street West, Davis Street, Water Street, Victoria Road North, Shackelton Drive, Acker Street, Penfold Drive and Grey Oak Drive..

This crime is easily avoided by locking your cars and by keeping valuables out of sight or removed from your vehicle. Police looking to identify male that approached teenage girl

On June 6, 2014 at 9:52 a.m. the Guelph Police went to the one hundred steps located between Grove Street and Elizabeth Street, after a teenage female called to report that a male had approached her. Police searched the area but could not locate the male. Investigation determined that the male had made inappropriate comments to the female causing her to fear for her safety and run from the man.

The male is described as white, approximately 6’ tall, average build, possibly in his 30’s. He was clean-shaven, round face, spaces between some of his teeth and had buzzed cut blonde or brown hair. He was wearing a light blue shirt and black knee length mesh style shorts.

Stolen car – arrest made

On June 6, 2014 at 1:51 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a car on Woodlawn Road West. The investigation determined that the car had been reported stolen on May 12, 2014 from a locked compound on Powerhouse Lane. The male driver was arrested.

Tyler Dick, 21 years of Listowell has been charged with break, enter and commit, theft under $5,000 and possession of stolen property under $5,000. He will appear in court on July 29, 2014.

Theft from cars

Overnight the Guelph Police received three reports from Guelph residents reporting thefts from their cars. The locations were Birch Street, Ardmay Crescent and Oak Street.

Man Charged with Break and Enter in Chatham

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man following a break and enter early this morning.

Around 3:00 a.m. police responded to an alarm at The Source Store on St. Clair Street. Upon arrival, the officers observed that the front door had been smashed. Once inside, the suspect smashed multiple glass display cases and stole various cell phones and tablets. Total value of the theft was estimated at $7000. Damage to the store was estimated at $2200.

Through investigation, police obtained physical descriptors of the suspect. Around 5:30 a.m. an officer on general patrol observed a man riding a bike on Park Avenue, matching the description of the suspect. The man was detained for investigative purposes and found to be in possession of a stolen iPhone from The Source. He was also found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

The 44 year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with break and enter, mischief under $5000, possession of property obtained by a crime over $5000 and drug possession. He has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Man Charged with Break and Enter in Tilbury

The Chatham-Kent police have arrested a man in connection with a break and enter in Tilbury.

On May 24, 2014 around 7:30 a.m. police responded to a break and enter at the Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant on Mill Street. Cash was stolen from the safe.

Through investigation, police determined that an employee was responsible. Yesterday morning, Keegan Arbeau-Drouillard, 23 years, of Fort Street in Tilbury was arrested. He has been charged with break and enter. He was released with conditions pending a future court date.
