IMPAIRED DRIVER IN ESSA

(ESSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On June 21,2014 at 6:38 pm a Nottawasaga OPP officers stopped a vehicle on County Rd 56a for a seatbelt violation that location Upon speaking with the driver, the officers detected a strong odour of alcohol on the his breath. He provided a sample into roadside screening device and failed. He subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to Detachment for further testing.

Once the investigation was concluded, ROnald Robert HOWELL, 68, of Barrie was charged with Operate Over 80 of alcohol contrary to Criminal Code of Canada.

The Administrative Drivers’ Licence Suspension (ADLS) program was initiated and her motor vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to make his first appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie at a later date.

If you suspect that someone is driving or is about to drive impaired, call 9-1-1 and report it. If you see that someone is impaired and intends on driving, do not let them drive.

OFFENSIVE WEAPON

On June 20, 2014, the Waterloo Regional Police Service responded to a residence on Poplar Drive in the city of Cambridge for an assault complaint. A Cambridge male barricaded himself in the home and after several hours negotiators persuaded the male to surrender to members of the Special Response Unit. The male was taken into custody and held in custody for a court appearance. This was not a random incident and there is no concern for the public safety.

DANGEROUS CONDITION

June 22, 2014 at 12:05pm Waterloo Regional Police and the Kitchener Fire Department were dispatched to 235 Ardelt Av in the city of Kitchener regarding a possible ammonia leak. High trace levels of ammonia were found to be present inside. The surrounding streets were subsequently shut down for safety reason as Kitchener Fire handled the leak. The Ministry of Labour was notified regarding the incident.

ROBBERY

Sunday, June 22 2014 at approximately 10:30 p.m., three Kitchener females surrounded a 16 year old Kitchener female victim while she waited for her bus at the Grand River Transit Terminal on Charles Street East in Kitchener. The victim was robbed of her cell phone and head phones. All three suspects were identified through security camera footage and arested nearby. The three accused females (a 17 year old, and two 20 year olds) were jointly charged with Robbery. The stolen property was recovered at the time of the arrests. The victim was not injured.

MVC PERSONAL INJURY

Location: WATER ST N and AUGUSTA ST, CAMBRIDGE ON Canada
On Sunday June 22, 2014 at approximately 7pm a 51 year old man was riding his motorcycle southbound on Water Street North in the city of Cambridge. The man drove over a manhole, lost control and crashed. His head struck the pavement. The man was transported to a local hospital with life threatening injuries and later transported to a trauma center outside the region. The investigation is ongoing. Police are asking witnesses of the collision to please contact the Traffic Branch at 519 653-7700 x 8856.

Hit and run investigation

On May 31, 2014 at 2:04 p.m. the Guelph Police investigated a hit and run motor vehicle collision that occurred in the alleyway between The Western Bar and Babelfish Bistro off of MacDonell Street. The suspect vehicle appears to be an out of town flatbed towing service vehicle.

Corey Cosman – Drunk Driving

On June 22, 2014 at 2:57 a.m., the Guelph Police conducted a traffic stop with a motor vehicle in the downtown area. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Corey Cosman, 24 years of Guelph has been charged with drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on July 8, 2014.

Andrew Goetz – Drunk Driving

On June 22, 2014 at 12:52 a.m., the Guelph Police received a report of an erratic driver on the Hanlon Expressway. Police located and conducted a traffic stop with the motor vehicle on Cedar Street. Police spoke with the male driver and a demand was made for a roadside breath sample. He failed this test and was arrested.

Andrew Goetz, 49 years of Guelph has been charged with impaired driving and drive over 80 mg. He will appear in court on July 15, 2014.

Fire at 33 Del Mar Boulevard

On June 21, 2014 at 9:26 p.m. the Guelph Fire Department responded to a reported fire at the above noted location. Units from the Elizabeth St., Wyndham St., Speedvale Ave, Stone Rd. and Imperial Rd. stations arrived at the scene and found a fully involved detached garage fire. The large volume of heat and fire impinging on the Del Mar home resulted in fire spreading to the roof and attic areas.

The fire was quickly brought under control and subsequently extinguished due to aggressive interior and exterior fire attacks. Extensive overhaul was performed to ensure complete extinguishment.

A neighbouring home, located at 78 Victoria Rd. N, sustained minor damage as a result of the radiant heat from this fire.

There were no injuries to the occupants or firefighting personnel.

The cause of the fire along with an estimate of damage is still under investigation by Fire Prevention.

Break and Enter

CK Police are investigating a break and enter which took place in the overnight hours of 19-20 June of a rental office located at a business on Riverview Drive in Chatham. Culprits used a drill to force the locks and once inside made off with a computer, PVR, and other property. At the time of the report the property value and the total damage costs were not available.

Assault

Date: Sunday, June 22, 2014 – 7:00pm
Shortly after 7pm on Sunday evening, officers were called to a Harvie Rd. residence regarding a family dispute. On location the officers were met by a female victim who advised that she had been assaulted by her fathers girlfriend. During the investigation it came to light that the 59 year old father had also been assaulted. As a result a 60 year old women is in custody facing two counts of assault and is scheduled for a bail hearing. Injuries were minor and no medical treatment was required.
