David QUACKENBUSH Facing Numerous Charges

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with multiple charges including impaired.

On Thursday September 4, 2025, at approximately 11:45pm, Peterborough County OPP officers received a call regarding a vehicle that had gone off the road on County Road 36 in the Municipality of Trent Lakes. The caller provided a description of the vehicle and the driver. Officers located the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver, determined them to be under the influence of alcohol. The individual was arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment for further testing.

David QUACKENBUSH (age 37) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with;

• Operation while impaired

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

• Take motor vehicle without consent

• Fail to report accident

• Fail to surrender insurance card

• Fail to surrender licence

• Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

• Drive motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused had their driver’s licence further suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on October 14, 2025.

Ryan DOCKMAN Was Arrested Again

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired operation of a boat.

On Monday August 11, 2025, at approximately 3:45pm, Peterborough County OPP received a call regarding a boat being operated by someone who appeared to have open alcohol in their boat. A description of the boat and the operator was provided to police.

A Peterborough County OPP Marine Unit was patrolling Buckhorn Lake and observed the vessel. The officer spoke with the operator of the vessel and after a short period of time determined them to be under the influence of alcohol. During the conversation, it was also determined that the accused was currently serving a Conditional Sentence Order which they were in breach of.

Ryan DOCKMAN (age 43) of Selwyn, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Breach of Conditional Sentence Order

·      Having care or control of boat underway with open container of liquor

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days.

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Xin HE Arrested For Threats, Etc.

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – A fisherman on Lower Buckhorn Lake was threatened while out on the water.

On Sunday June 29, 2025, just prior to 10:00am, members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call from an individual stating that they had just been threatened by an unknown person.

Officers attended and spoke with the complainant who advised that while fishing a short distance from shore, an individual exited a residence and began shouting at them. After a brief exchange of words, the individual went back into the residence and came back out holding what was believed to be a weapon.

Officers spoke with the accused and after a brief investigation, the individual was arrested.

Xin HE (age 55) of Scarborough, ON., was arrested and charged with;

  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Intimidation – use or threatens use of violence
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Pointing a firearm

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on July 29, 2025.

Brandon ROACH – Assault, Impaired Driving

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with assault and impaired driving after receiving a call regarding a road rage incident.

On May 31, 2025, shortly after 9:00am, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a fight between two individuals at an intersection on Buckhorn Road. Officers attended and spoke with the first driver who shared their side of the story. Upon speaking with the second driver, officers detected signs that they may be under the influence of alcohol. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the Peterborough County OPP detachment. The accused provided samples of their breath registering over twice the legal limit.

Brandon ROACH (age 39) of Buckhorn, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Assault

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on July 8, 2025.

Christopher SHAW Was Arrested

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after stopping an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

On May 17, 2025, just prior to 1:30pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were patrolling on County Road 36 in the Municipality of Trent Lakes. Officers observed an individual operating an ATV and stopped to speak with them. During the course of their conversation, officers determined the driver to be impaired and arrested them.

Christopher SHAW (age 36) of Buckhorn, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Driver – No helmet or proper helmet

·      Drive with passenger not wearing proper helmet

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused had their driver’s licence further suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 10, 2025

19 Year Old Pedestrian Killed By 86 Year Old Hit & Run Driver

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – The Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews reported to a fail-to-remain collision involving a passenger vehicle and pedestrians in the Municipality of Trent Lakes.

On September 25, 2024, at approximately 1:10 p.m., the Peterborough County OPP received a call from a witness who advised they had located two individuals in the ditch on the north side of County Road 36 near Moon Line Road. Members of the OPP Peterborough County Detachment, City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment, Fire, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) were dispatched to the scene.

The two individuals, a male and a female, both suffered serious injuries. A passerby was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) until Police, Fire and EMS arrived. The vehicle involved in the collision was not at the scene.

The female, a 19-year-old from Trent Lakes, was pronounced as deceased at scene.

The male, a 19-year-old from Trent Lakes, was transported by EMS then ORNGE Air to a Toronto-area trauma centre.

Information was provided to police regarding a vehicle that had been seen earlier in the area with damage to the front end. Officers were able to locate the vehicle and its owner.

As a result of the investigation, Carl LEE, 86-year-old of Bobcaygeon, was arrested and charged with:

·      Fail to Stop at accident resulting in death

·      Fail to stop at accident resulting in bodily harm

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on November 5, 2024.

County Road 36 remained closed in both directions for several hours while Police conducted their investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has surveillance or dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the Peterborough County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Edward MCGARVEY – Drunk Driving, Hit & Run

(MUNICIPALITY OF TRENT LAKES, ON) – An accidental 911 call has led to the arrest of an impaired driver.

On April 25, 2024, just shortly after 12:00 am, the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to what was received as an accidental 911 call. The dispatch reported that the caller was saying that they were somewhere other than where the call was showing originating from. Officers patrolled the area locating a vehicle belonging to the caller that had gone off the road and into a tree. There was nobody with the vehicle. A short time later, officers located the owner of the vehicle and after a short conversation, officers arrested them.

Edward MCGARVEY (age 40) of Trent Lakes, ON, was arrested and charged with:

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Fail to report accident

·      Fail to remain

·      Driver – fail to properly wear seat belt

·      Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

The accused had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 4, 2024.
