WHITFIELD Was Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – A vehicle in the ditch leads to one person being charged with impaired and resisting arrest.

On January 31, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores.

The OPP located the vehicle and found the driver still inside. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for further testing.

Kurt WHITFIELD, 29 years-of-age of North Bay, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on March 4, 2025.

Riley AUMONT Was Arrested Again

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision with an accessibility ramp leads to several charges including impaired.

On January 26, 2025, at approximately 6:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Prospect Avenue in Cobalt.

OPP attended and located the unattended vehicle. Shortly after, the driver was located, arrested for impaired driving and transported a local hospital for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, one person was charged with several Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences.

Riley AUMONT, 21 years-of-age of North Cobalt was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Operation while prohibited under Criminal Code
  • Dangerous operation        
  • Take motor vehicle without consent
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Fail to remain        
  • Fail to report damage to property

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and remains in custody. They are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on February 18, 2025.

WATSON – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – Reports of a vehicle in the ditch leads to one person charged with impaired.

On January 14, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in Evanturel Township.

The OPP located the vehicle and driver shortly after. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for further testing.

Jason WATSON, 51 -years of age, of London Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – (80 plus)

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and his vehicle was impounded for seven days. They are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on February 25, 2025.

Officer Assaulted – Benjamin CLARK Charged, Drugs A Factor

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – A traffic complaint leads to one person being charged with several offences.

On January 13, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 in Coleman Township.

The OPP located the vehicle. As a result of the investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired driving and transported to detachment for further testing. Additionally, police seized a suspected amount of cocaine and heroin.

The driver was charged with several offences contrary to the Criminal Code (CC), the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act (CDSA) and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

Benjamin CLARK, 39 years-of-age of New Liskeard was charged with:

  • Assault Peace Officer
  • Operation while impaired – drugs
  • Possession of substance – heroin
  • Possession of substance – cocaine       
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Operation while prohibited under criminal code
  • Drive without proper headlights
  • Drive without proper rear light      
  • Follow too closely

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS). They are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2025.

More Impaired Drivers

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – Two drivers have been charged with impaired, after two separate complaints.

On January 10, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Highway 11 in Hilliard Township.

The OPP attended and determined the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

Louiselle MCLEAN, 70 years of age, of Earlton Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

On January 11, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., the OPP responded to a suspicious vehicle parked on Lillie Street in Thornloe. Officers attended and found the driver asleep in the vehicle. They were arrested and transported the detachment for further testing.

William SIMMENS, 45 years-of-age of Thornloe Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

Both drivers received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and their vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2025.

Cole MCLEAN – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after police respond to a complaint of a driver sleeping behind the wheel at an intersection.

On December 31, 2024, at approximately 3:15 p.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), received a complaint from another motorist advising of a driver sleeping behind the wheel at an intersection, on Development Road in Harley Township. Shortly after, OPP located and stopped the vehicle on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores. The driver was arrested for impaired and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

Cole MCLEAN, 21 years-of-age, from New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 28, 2025.

Hwy 11 Road Rage Collision Results In Charges

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – Driver makes intentional contact with another vehicle causing a collision.

The Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking assistance from the public in locating anyone having video/dash camera footage in relation to collisions and erratic driving involving a white Toyota Rav 4 Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). The incident occurred on Highway 11 and Highway 65 in the Temiskaming Shores area shortly after 1:00 p.m., on Monday, December 30, 2024.

After the collision, the OPP made several attempts to stop the vehicle which resulted in the deployment of a spike belt. The suspect vehicle was stopped, and the driver was arrested. There were no injuries reported however the driver was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

As a result of the investigation, Trevor MARCHILDON, 37 years-of-age of Englehart, Ontario was charged with:

  • Assault a peace officer with a weapon – two counts
  • Assault a peace officer – cause bodily harm
  • Criminal harassment – repeatedly follow
  • Mischief endangering life
  • Resist peace officer
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Disobey order of the court – two counts

The accused was remanded into custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on January 6, 2025.

One Located Decased After Falling Through Ice

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person has been found deceased and the search for second person continues after they were observed going through the ice.

On December 29, 2024, at approximately 03:00 p.m., The Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for assistance after reports of two people had gone through the ice at Pete’s Dam Park, on Pete’s Dam Road in the City of Temiskaming Shores.

The Temiskaming OPP, OPP North East Emergency Response Team (ERT), and the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) began the search of the two individuals with the assistance of the Temiskaming Shores Fire Department and the Temiskaming Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

The search is continuing for the second person. The OPP are asking the public to avoid the area as they continue their investigation in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Graham HOUGHTON – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after police stopped a motor vehicle for a traffic violation in Temiskaming Shores.

 On December 14, 2024, at approximately 3:15 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were on patrol and observed a traffic violation at the intersection of Whitewood Avenue and Paget Street South in Temiskaming Shores. OPP initiated a traffic stop which resulted in the arrest of the driver for impaired. The driver was then transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)
  • Red light – fail to stop

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 14, 2025.

FOSTER – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after police stopped a motor vehicle in Temiskaming Shores.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol and observed a vehicle travelling through a public parking lot near Cedar Avenue in Temiskaming Shores. OPP initiated a traffic stop to ensure driver sobriety which resulted in the arrest of the driver for impaired. The driver was then transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

Kent FOSTER, 38 years-of-age, from Burlington, Ontario, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Fail to surrender permit for vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

 In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. 

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 7, 2025.

Shawn CAMPBELL – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a motor vehicle found in the ditch in Temiskaming Shores.

On December 15, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., OPP, received information of a vehicle in the ditch on Drive In Theatre Road. Further information indicated a lone male was walking away from the vehicle. OPP arrived moments later and arrested the driver for impaired operation. The driver was then transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

Shawn CAMPBELL, 47 years-of-age, from New Liskeard, was charged with:

  •  Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired -blood alcohol concentration (80 Plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 7, 2025.

Shelby LOACH – Hit & Run

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested and charged one driver with an impaired related offence after two separate collisions.

On November 27, 2024, at approximately 1:30 p.m., OPP responded to a fail to remain motor vehicle collision, on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores. Officers responding came across a second collision on Highway 11 approximately five kilometers south of the initial collision.

The driver was arrested for impaired driving after the investigation revealed the same vehicle was involved on both collisions.

Shelby LOACH, 26-years-old, from Englehart was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Fail to remain

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on January 7, 2025.

3 Month Old Dead – 2 Arrested, Names Released

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – Two individuals have been charged in connection with an infant death in Chamberlain Township in September 2022.

On September 3, 2022, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance from the Temiskaming District Emergency Medical Services (EMS) regarding a three-month-old infant with no vital signs at a residence on Chamberlain Road 5. The infant was transported to hospital by EMS and later pronounced deceased.  

A thorough investigation was conducted by the Temiskaming OPP Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from the OPP North East Region Support Team and OPP Forensic Identification Services, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.  

On November 12, 2024, two people were arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences.

Jeffrey DOONAN, 32 years old of King Kirkland, was charged with:

  • Second degree murder, section 215(1)(a)

·      Criminal negligence causing death, section 220(b)

  • Fail to provide the necessaries of life, section 215(1)(a)

Michelle DOONAN, 33 years old of King Kirkland, was charged with:

·      Criminal negligence causing death, section 220(b)

·      Fail to provide necessaries of life, section 215(1)(a)

Both accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury on November 13, 2024.

Carl TRIPP Facing Numerous Charges

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made two separate attempts to stop a motor vehicle.

On November 9, 2024, at approximately 1:45 a.m., police attempted to stop a motor vehicle on Armstrong Street, but the driver failed to stop. At approximately 2:00 a.m., police located the same vehicle on Carter Boulevard and the driver failed to stop once again. 

Police identified the driver which was later located, arrested and charged.

Carl TRIPP, 27 years-of-age, from New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Resist peace officer
  • Fail to stop for police – two counts
  • Drive motor vehicle no plates
  • Fail to apply for permit on becoming owner
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Drive motor vehicle no license
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop

The driver was issued a 3-day driver’s license suspension and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on November 26, 2024.

Brian EDWARDS Was Arrested Again

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – An unrelated investigation leads to one person being arrested and charged with the theft of a motor vehicle.

On October 28, 2024, the Temiskaming Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft of a 2023 Black Ford F150 from an address on Cross Lake Road in North Cobalt. The truck is believed to have been stolen between the hours of 3:30 am and 6:30 am on that date.

As a result of the investigation, Brian EDWARDS, 44-year-old of Temiskaming Shores, was arrested, charged with:

  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Possession of an identity document
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Failure to comply with release order

The accused was held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on October 29, 2024.
