6 Year Old Rescued From Abductor, Officer Injured – Repeat Offender Arrested Again! #3Strikes #SaveOurChildren

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) Members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual following the abduction of a six-year-old child.

On Sunday, September 21, 2025, shortly before 2:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a missing child from a residence in downtown New Liskeard. The investigation revealed that the accused had interacted with a child at the residence, and the child subsequently accompanied the accused to a local park. A short time later, the child was located unharmed by a concerned citizen and returned to their family.

The accused was arrested in the vicinity of where the child was located. Following the arrest of the accused, an officer was assaulted and treated in hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, Travis PRENTICE, a 27-year-old of no-fixed-address, was charged with:

  • Abduction of person under 14 – take or entice
  • Fail to comply with probation order – four counts
  • Assault a Peace Officer with a weapon

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on October 14th, 2025.

The OPP encourages parents and caregivers to educate their children about personal safety and to report any suspicious encounters to police.

Sujal SHARMA Arrested Again #RepeatOffender

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after an investigation where a local victim was defrauded.

On February 25, 2025, members of the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were advised of a fraud where the victim, from Temiskaming Shores, had been the target of online and in person scams. OPP began an in-depth investigation determining an estimated loss of approximately $74000.

On March 11, 2025, Temiskaming OPP with the assistance of the Temiskaming Crime Unit, the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Provincial Operational Intelligence Bureau (POIB), police arrested and charged one person.

Sujal SHARMA, 21 years-of-age of Huntsville Ontario, was charged with:

  • Fraud over $5000

On June 24, 2025, following further investigation, police re-arrested the accused and charged them with additional offences.

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Theft over $5000
  • Personating peace officer

The accused is scheduled to reappear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on October 3, 2025.

Donald MCLEAN – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) -A traffic complaint resulted in a driver charged with impaired.

On Saturday, June 21,2025 at approximately 7:30 p.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded a traffic complaint on Highway 11 in Temiskaming Shores regarding a possible impaired driver. 

Officers located the vehicle on Highway 11 and conducted a traffic stop near Bedard Drive. Following an investigation, the driver was arrested and transported to the Englehart detachment for further testing. The vehicle was towed and impounded. 

Donald MCLEAN, 64 years-of-age of Charlton, was charged with: 

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol 

 The accused received a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on Tuesday July 15, 2025.

Julien COUTU Was Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – One person was arrested and charged with impaired driving after a motor vehicle was found in the ditch in Temiskaming Shores.

On December 6, 2024, at approximately 11:45 p.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), responded to a vehicle in the ditch on Peters Road. The driver was arrested after refusing to provide a breath sample as required by law.

Julien COUTU, 24 years-of-age, from New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Disobey stop sign – fail to stop
  • Possess more than one licence
  • Fail to have insurance card

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on January 7, 2025.

In addition, the accused received a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Awad KHAN – Attempt Murder, Weapons, Ect.

(TEMISKAMING, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person in connection with an on-going investigation in Temiskaming.

Awad KHAN, 23 years-old, of Hamilton has been arrested and charged with 16 Criminal Code offences:

  • Attempt to commit murder using firearm
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Resist peace officer
  • Discharge firearm with intent
  • Assault peace officer
  • Firearm – use while committing offence
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammo
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Escape lawful custody
  • Discharge a firearm into or at a place in a reckless manner
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Dangerous operation

He remains in custody, pending his next court appearance on March 12, 2024.
