Child Abuse Investigation Results In 20+ Charges #WaitInTheTruck

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), with assistance from Renfrew County Family and Children’s Services (FCS), has charged one person after investigating allegations of child abuse.

On March 14, 2025, Renfrew OPP completed a joint investigation with FCS in Arnprior.

As a result of the investigation, the accused, age 40 from Arnprior, was charged with:

·      Assault – 23 counts

·      Assault – spousal

·      Assault – cause bodily harm- choke, suffocate or strangle

·      Uttering threats- cause death or bodily harm, two counts

·      Killing or injuring animals – three counts

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 30, 2025.

In efforts to protect the identity of the victims, the accused will not be named.

PETTIGREW – Drunk Driving

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after receiving a traffic complaint in the Town of Renfrew.

On March 14, 2025, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Renfrew OPP received a report of a possible impaired driver.

Police located the vehicle and as a result of the investigation, Robert PETTIGREW, age 54 of Greater Madawaska Township, was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 9, 2025. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.

Vehicle Bursts Into Flames – WATSON Arrested

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after a collision in the Town of Arnprior.

On March 11, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Renfrew OPP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Madawaska Boulevard and Bridge Street. Police arrived on scene to find a vehicle fully engulfed in flames. All occupants were out of the vehicles. The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Police closed Madawaska Boulevard in both directions to complete the investigation. Arnprior Fire Department attended the scene and extinguished the flames.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the burned vehicle, Jack Patrick WATSON, age 26 of Arnprior, was charged with:

·      Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

·      Failure or refusal to comply with breath sample demand

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on April 9, 2025. The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days.

57 Year Old Drunk Driver Arrested – Name Released

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after receiving a report of a single vehicle collision.

On March 7, 2025, at approximately 11:30 p.m., Renfrew OPP received a report of a vehicle in a ditch on Mount St. Patrick Road in Admaston-Bromley Township. Police arrived on scene to find an abandoned vehicle, and an individual walking away from scene.

As a result of the investigation, Richard BROWN, age 57 of Calabogie was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Driving while under suspension

·      Operate motor vehicle without insurance

·      Use of plate not authorized

·      Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

·      Fail to apply for permit on becoming an owner

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 26, 2025. The individual’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Hans MERTINS – Impaired Driving

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after receiving a traffic complaint in Greater Madawaska.

On March 1, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., Renfrew OPP received a report of a suspected impaired driver who was last seen on Calabogie Road. Officers located and stopped the vehicle.

Officers completed a roadside breath test with an Approved Screening Device. The individual was then transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Hans MERTINS, age 70 of North Grenville was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 19, 2025. The individual’s driver’s license has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Teacher & Student Assaulted – One Arrested

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an assault that led to one person being charged.

On February 28, 2025, at approximately 10:20 a.m., Renfrew OPP responded to a report of two assaults at a local high school in the Town of Arnprior. It was reported that a physical altercation broke out in a classroom. One student and a teacher were struck by another student.

As a result of the investigation, a 16-year-old was charged with two counts of assault

The accused, who cannot be identified under the terms of the Youth Criminal Justice Act, was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke at a later date.

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges after a report of threats.

On Tuesday, February 25, 2025, Renfrew OPP responded to reports of threats on Hall Avenue in the Town of Renfrew.

Following an investigation, an arrest warrant was obtained, and the accused was taken into custody.

65-year-old Dwayne Eric CAMERON of Renfrew has been charged with:

·      Uttering threats- cause death or bodily harm

·      Fail to comply with a probation order

Drug Bust Following Collision: MOORE & PATROIS-HAYBECKER

(RENFREW, ON) – Two people have been arrested and a significant quantity of illegal drugs seized after a single vehicle collision in Renfrew.

At approximately 4:15 a.m. today (Monday, February 24, 2025), officers with the Renfrew Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment attempted to stop a suspicious vehicle on Lochiel Street, but the vehicle fled. It was found a short distance away after it left the road and crashed along Ma-Te-Way Park Drive. The driver fled on foot, while a passenger remained in the car. A search of the vehicle located suspected fentanyl, suspected cocaine and suspected methamphetamine. Officers also seized items typically associated with drug trafficking. The passenger was arrested at the scene and the driver was located and arrested nearby, with assistance from the OPP Canine Unit.

Tyler MOORE, age 43 of Arnprior has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – two counts
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Failing to remain at the scene of an accident
  • Operation of a vehicle without insurance
  • Using a plate not authorized for a vehicle
  • Driving a vehicle while failing to display two licence plates

Ashley PATROIS-HAYBECKER, age 19 or Arnprior, has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both of the accused were held in custody and scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 24, 2025.

Shannon SMITH Facing 13 Charges

(RENFREW, ON) – One person has been arrested in connection with multiple cases of vandalism in Renfrew.

The incidents were reported on Saturday, February 15, 2025, by residents and businesses along Raglan Street South. More than a dozen locations had been marked with a paint-like material in the early morning hours. The incident resulted in numerous bank ATMs in the community being out-of-service.

On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, as a result of the investigation, officers arrested an individual.

Shannon SMITH, age 47 of Renfrew, has been charged with 13 counts of mischief-disrupt lawful enjoyment of property.

The accused was release from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on March 12, 2025.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(RENFREW, ON) – Four people are facing drug trafficking and other charges after search warrants were executed in Arnprior.

On January 24, 2025, four people were arrested and charged without incident.

As part of an ongoing investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the Emergency Response Team (ERT), and members of the Renfrew Detachment executed two search warrants on Friday, January 24, 2025, on Burwash Street in the Town of Arnprior.

A subsequent search of the residence and vehicle revealed nearly 28 grams of suspected cocaine, almost 20 pills of suspected trazadone, over four grams of crack cocaine, and over 210 grams of an unknown white powder (suspected cutting agent). Officers also seized a conducted energy weapon (taser), seven cell phones, debt lists, almost $280 in cash, and other items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Brandon MCCALLUM, age 42 from Arnprior was charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Unauthorized possession of weapon

·      Failure to comply with release order – three counts

This accused was held for bail.

Archie JOLICOEUR, age 51 from Arnprior was charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Unauthorized possession of weapon

·      Failure to comply with release order – two counts

This accused was held for bail.

Tim BOURQUE, age 41 and Courtney CLOUTHIER age 31, from Arnprior, were both charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Unauthorized possession of weapon

Both of these accused were released and are scheduled to attend the Ontario court of Justice in Pembroke on March 5, 2025.

LAROCQUE Facing Numerous Fraud Charges – Police Fear More Victims

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person following reports of fraudulent interactions involving a snow removal and general contracting business.

Victims reported that they paid for services which the business failed to provide.

As a result of the investigation, 44-year-old Michael Richard Lee LAROCQUE of Arnprior has been charged with:

·        Fraud under $5000- 16 counts

·        Obtaining by false pretence under $5000- 16 counts

·        Fraud over $5000

·        Obtaining by false pretence over $5000

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 19, 2025.

Drug Bust – MCCALLUM & PICHETTE

(RENFREW, ON) – Two people are facing numerous drug trafficking charges in Arnprior.

As part of an ongoing investigation, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and members of the Renfrew Detachment conducted a traffic stop in Arnprior on December 13, 2024. Two people were arrested without incident.

A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed nearly 50 grams of suspected cocaine, more than 10 grams of suspected fentanyl, over 400 suspected methamphetamine tablets, over 17 grams of suspected crack cocaine, more than 20 capsules of amphetamine salts, four cell phones, a replica firearm, items typically associated with drug trafficking and almost $2900 in cash.

Brandon MCCALLUM, age 42, and Natasha PICHETTE, age 34, both from Arnprior, are charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – six counts

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both accused were released from custody following bail hearings. They are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 29, 2025.

18 Year Old Deceased Following Collision

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the OPP Technical Collision Investigation team are continuing to investigate a fatal collision.

On Friday, December 13, 2024, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Renfrew OPP attended a collision involving a car and a transport truck on Highway 17 at Storyland Road.

The driver of the car, an 18-year-old male from Shawville, Quebec, was transported to hospital for life threatening injuries. He was later pronounced deceased at hospital.

The highway was closed for several hours to allow for the Technical Collision Investigator (OPP) and the Reconstructionist (OPP) to conduct the investigation.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people for impaired driving.

On November 21, 2024, at approximately 8:20 p.m., Renfrew OPP received a traffic complaint in the Town of Arnprior.

Police located the vehicle on Decosta Street and completed a roadside breath test with an Approved Screening Device.

As a result of the investigation, Christine Dawn PHILLIPS, age 52 of Arnprior was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 19, 2024.

On November 23, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Renfrew OPP was conducting a RIDE Program on Burnstown Road, in the Township of McNab-Braeside. Officers stopped a vehicle and suspected a driver to be impaired.

Police completed a roadside breath test with an Approved Screening Device.

As a result of the investigation, Cameron MCNULTY, age 21 of Pakenham was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Operate motor vehicle without insurance

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 22, 2024.
