(Red Lake, ON) Members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop after a complaint of a possible impaired driver in Balmertown, Ontario.
On Monday, November 17th, 2025 at approximately 9 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle and an impaired driving investigation commenced. The operator was arrested and charged under multiple legislations.
Sheridan MONKMAN, 30 years old of Lundar, Manitoba was charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs – Criminal Code of Canada
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) – Criminal Code of Canada
- Possess Unmarked Cigarettes – Tobacco Tax Act
- Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available – Cannabis Control Act 2017
- Driver – Fail to Surrender Licence – Highway Traffic Act
- Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available – Liquor Licence and Control Act 2019
The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on December 11th, 2025. The accused faced a 90 day Driver’s Licence suspension, as well as a 7 day vehicle impoundment.
