Sheridan MONKMAN Facing Numerous Charges

(Red Lake, ON) Members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop after a complaint of a possible impaired driver in Balmertown, Ontario.

On Monday, November 17th, 2025 at approximately 9 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on a motor vehicle and an impaired driving investigation commenced. The operator was arrested and charged under multiple legislations.

Sheridan MONKMAN, 30 years old of Lundar, Manitoba was charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs – Criminal Code of Canada
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) – Criminal Code of Canada
  • Possess Unmarked Cigarettes – Tobacco Tax Act
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available – Cannabis Control Act 2017
  • Driver – Fail to Surrender Licence – Highway Traffic Act
  • Driving Motor Vehicle with Liquor Readily Available – Liquor Licence and Control Act 2019

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on December 11th, 2025. The accused faced a 90 day Driver’s Licence suspension, as well as a 7 day vehicle impoundment.

Noah HANEY – Impaired Driving

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – On November 7th, 2025 at approximately 10:57 p.m., officers from the Thunder Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for service from a concerned citizen who had stopped to check on a distressed motorist located along Highway 11-17, east of Terry Fox Memorial, within the Municipality of Shuniah.

The officers, along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provided assistance to the motorist, although subsequent to the investigation, it was determined that the driver was under the influence of a controlled substance. After a thorough vehicle search, the officer’s located cannabis, open alcohol & suspect cocaine. The individual was arrested & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Noah HANEY, 27, of the Red Lake, Ontario was charged with:

Criminal Code:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine;

Provincial Offences:

  • Novice driver – presence of drug;
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available;
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor;
  • Fail to have insurance card;

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on January 7th, 2025.

Home Invasions – Steven GUIBOCHE & Drake AIKEN Arrested

(RED LAKE, ON) – The Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested two individuals in connection with a series of break and enter occurrences that affected seasonal property owners, business owners and residents throughout the Red Lake area.

Over recent weeks, police have responded to numerous reports of break, enter, theft and property damage at camps, businesses and outbuildings – both local and remote. On October 29, 2025, a search warrant executed at a residence in Red Lake resulted in the recovery of a substantial amount of stolen property believed to be linked to multiple incidents.

As a result of the investigation, two accused have been arrested and remanded into custody. One of the individuals has been linked to six separate scenes through ongoing investigative efforts. On October 29, 2025, Steven GUIBOCHE, 44, of Red Lake, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, section 355(a)
  • Theft over $5,000, section 334(a)
  • Break and enter a place and steal a firearm, section 98(1)(b)
  • Resist peace officer, section 129(a) – two counts

On November 4, 2025, Drake AIKEN, 26, of Red Lake, was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, section 355(a) – two counts
  • Break and enter a place and steal a firearm, section 98(1)(b)
  • Theft over $5,000, section 334(a) – two counts
  • Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(b) – three counts
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property, section 430(1)(a)
  • Theft under $5,000, section 334(b) 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, section 354(1)(a)
  • Mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective, section 430(1)(b)
  • Possession of break in instruments, section 351(1)
  • Operation while prohibited, section 320.18(1)(a)

The Red Lake OPP continues to investigate and is urging all property owners to inspect their locations for signs of forced entry, damage or missing items. If you are missing property – including parcels or deliveries that were expected in the mail – please contact the Red Lake OPP to report the loss.

Nelia DUBREUIL – Drunk Driving

Members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one individual with Impaired Operation.

On October 1st, 2025, around 4:30pm, Red Lake OPP officers responded to a Motor Vehicle Collision at the 10 Summers Road complex within the Municipality of Red Lake.

The investigation revealed the driver of the motor vehicle to be impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further blood alcohol concentration testing.

As a result, Nelia DUBREUIL (61 years old) of Red Lake has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on Thursday, November 20th, 2025.

Cassie ANICETO, Criminal Harassment #OPP #Crime #3Strikes

(RED LAKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a year-long investigation into a harassment incident in the Municipality of Red Lake.

The investigation began after a member of the public appeared to deliberately target an individual following a prior interaction. The accused was observed on numerous occasions walking past locations the individual is known to frequent, including their residence, and taking photographs and/or videos. 

As a result of the investigation, Cassie ANICETO, 31, of Red Lake was charged with:

  • Criminal Harassment

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 20, 2025. 

The OPP takes all incidents involving the safety and well-being of individuals seriously. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.

Skateboarder Arrested For Drunk Driving – Name Released

(Red Lake, ON) Members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) engaged a male operating a OneWheel Electric Skateboard in Balmertown, Ontario.

On Friday, August 15th, 2025 at approximately 10 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop on an erratic driver and an impaired driving investigation commenced. The operator was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

Kyle MELANSON, 36 years old of Balmertown, Ontario, was charged with:

–         Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

–         Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on September 18th, 2025. The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

Barry ANDERSON Was Arrested For Impaired

(Red Lake, ON) Members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual after an impaired by Drug traffic investigation in Red Lake, Ontario.

On Sunday, August 17th, 2025 at approximately 10:20 p.m., officers conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act violation. After further investigation, officers suspected the driver to be under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both. A field sobriety test was conducted to which the driver performed poorly on. Further Drug Recognition Expert Tests were conducted while at the Detachment leading the officer to believe the accused was under the influence of a Central Nervous System Stimulant. The driver was arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

Barry ANDERSON, 56 years old, of Red Lake, Ontario, was charged with:

–         Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on October 16th, 2025. The accused’s driver’s license was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Death In Red Lake – Details Released

(RED LAKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a suspicious death in the Municipality of Red Lake.

On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, members of the Red Lake OPP Detachment began investigating an incident that led to one individual being taken to hospital in life-threatening condition. On Wednesday, May 14, 2025, the individual was pronounced deceased in hospital. 

The deceased has been identified as Myrna MASON, 40 years old, of Red Lake.

This investigation is being led by the OPP North West Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.

Chad BRANNAN Was Arrested

(RED LAKE, ON) – Members of the Red Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.

On April 7, 2025, shortly after 11:30 p.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment of the OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle to check on sobriety on Highway 125.  

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported back to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.

Chad BRANNAN, 20-years-old, of Wabigoon, Ontario has been arrested and charged under the Criminal CodeLiquor Licence and Control Act, and the Cannabis Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Driving a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused was released from custody, and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on May 15, 2025.

2 More Impaired Drivers

(RED LAKE, ON) – A traffic complaint has resulted in two individuals being arrested and charged with impaired operation.

On September 23, 2024, shortly before 1:00 p.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver on Howey Street within the Municipality of Red Lake. 

Through investigation, officers patrolled, located the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. It was determined that two individuals had operated the vehicle while impaired by alcohol. Both operators were subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Marty FIDDLER, 33-years-old, of Sandy Lake First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero

·        Driver Motor Vehicle With Open Container of Liquor

and Tia PETTIT, 29-years-old, of Sandy Lake First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Liquor Licence Control Act, and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Fail to Remain

·        Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration Above Zero

·        Driver Fail to Surrender Licence

·        Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

·        Fail to Have Insurance Card

Both accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake at a later date.

Lexus MCKAY – Break & Enter, Assault With Weapon

(RED LAKE, ON) – A Red Lake resident is facing numerous weapons related charges.

On July 29,2024, and at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to reports of an armed individual who had barricaded themselves inside a cabin at Sportsman’s Lodge on Little Vermillion Lake.

Just before 2:00 p.m., and with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, Crisis Negotiators, and the Red Lake Detachment Crime Unit, one individual was safely arrested. The individual was later transported to hospital by Emergency Medical Services for further assessment.

As a result, Lexus MCKAY, 25-years-old, of Red Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Reckless discharge of firearm – life or safety
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Pointing a Firearm

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

Steven RICHARD Was Arrested – Details Released

(RED LAKE, ON) – One individual is facing impaired operation charges following a motor vehicle collision.

On July 5, 2024, just before 4:00 p.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Highway 125.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Steven RICHARD, 46-years-old, of Balmertown, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Cannabis Control Act, and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Fail to Ensure Child Properly Secured

·      Drive While Child Passenger Not Properly Secured

·      Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available

·      Fail to Surrender Insurance Card

·      Fail to Notify Change of Address

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on August 15, 2024.

Kyle BARR Was Arrested

(RED LAKE, ON) – Proactive traffic enforcement has resulted in two Winnipeg residents facing charges.

On June 29, 2024, shortly before 10:30 p.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Highway 125 in the Municipality of Red Lake when they observed a motor vehicle parked halfway on the roadway.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Kyle BARR, 31-years-old, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act (HTA)and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA) with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Driving Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor

·        Drive Motor Vehicle – No Licence

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on August 15, 2024.

A 23-year-old, of Winnipeg, Manitoba was charged under the HTA and LLCA with:

·        Being Intoxicated in Public Place

Clinton HUNTER Was Arrested

(RED LAKE, ON) – A traffic complaint of a suspected impaired driver has led to one individual being arrested and charged with impaired operation and flight from police.

On May 5, 2024, just before 10:00 a.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a suspected impaired all-terrain vehicle (ATV) driver on Suffel Lake Road within the Municipality of Red Lake. Officers located the ATV and attempted to initiate a traffic stop; however, the driver fled from police.

A short time later, officers located the individual and subsequently placed them under arrest.

As a result, Clinton HUNTER, 30-years-old, of Red Lake, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, and Off-Road Vehicle Act with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·        Operation While Prohibited

·        Flight From Peace Officer

·        Fail to Stop for Police

·        Fail to Stop – Flashing Red Light

·        Fail to Identify Self

Miranda KAKEGAMIC Was Arrested

(RED LAKE, ON) – A traffic stop in the Municipality of Red Lake has resulted in one individual being arrested and charged with impaired operation.

On April 11, 2024, just before 4:30 p.m., members of the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle in the area of Hughes Crescent following a traffic violation.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Red Lake OPP Detachment for further testing.

As a result, Miranda KAKEGAMIC, 31-years-old, of Keewaywin First Nation, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake on June 20, 2024.
