Do You Recognize This Person Of Interest

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Two residences were victim to break and enters last month, and both were on the same road in the Township of Perth East. Police are now asking the public to assist in identifying a person of interest.

On November 30 2020, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received two reports of break and enters that had occurred at residences on Road 145 in the Township of Perth East. Unknown suspect(s) entered garages overnight, and rummaged through a vehicles. Money, bank cards, GPS, sunglasses, and motorcycle helmets were stolen.

One of the bank cards was later used at a business in Mitchell, and a person of interest was captured on security surveillance. The Perth County OPP is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person seen in the images. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to keep vehicles locked at all times, and never leave keys in, or near, a vehicle. Unlocked vehicles become easy targets, and can be used to commit other crimes, including break and enters, or driving offences, such as impaired driving (by drugs or alcohol). Stolen vehicles also pose a risk to the public when drivers flee from police, driving in a dangerous manner in order to evade arrest. Stolen credit cards can be used to make purchases before the owner ever notices that they are missing.

61 Year Old Facing Assault & Weapon Charges

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – An Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident is facing Domestic Assault & Careless Storage of Firearms charges following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On December 9, 2020 Huron OPP members entered into an investigation involving domestic abuse. The subsequent investigation revealed the accused had committed three separate physical assaults against the victim. 

Additionally, the accused is facing a charge of Careless Storage of a Firearm for failing to properly secure firearms that were being stored inside the family home. 

The accused, a 61-year-old from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with three counts of Spousal Assault and Careless Storage of Firearms. The accused has since been released from custody with a court date in 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

19 Year Old With Kilo Of Cocaine & $30,000 Cash Arrested

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Members of Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Investigative Services Branch have completed a month-long drug investigation in Kitchener.

On December 17, 2020, at approximately 2 p.m., members of the WRPS Emergency Response Team completed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act search warrant at a residence on Winding Meadow Court in Kitchener.

As a result of the completed warrant, police seized the following:

  • Approximately one kilogram of suspected cocaine
  • Approximately $30,000 in currency
  • Two non-restricted long guns
  • A prohibited magazine
  • Ammunition
  • Drug processing supplies
  • A motor vehicle (used to commit drug-trafficking offences)

A 19-year-old Kitchener male was arrested and has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of firearms and possession of proceeds of crime.

The male was scheduled for a bail hearing today.

The investigation is ongoing, and further arrests are anticipated.

Shot(s) Fired During Home Invasion – Suspects At Large

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, December 18, 2020, at approximately 1:03 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment investigated a report of a home invasion at a Main Street, Delhi, Norfolk County address.

Investigation determined that on Monday, December 14, 2020, at approximately 12:45 a.m., four to five people attended the address and attempted to forcibly gain entry into the residence. The occupants of the home were able to prevent the entry however one of the suspects involved discharged a firearm. All of the suspects then fled from the residence in a gold or silver coloured motor vehicle similar to a Chrysler 300 and a dark coloured vehicle. Both vehicles left the area in an unknown direction.

One of the occupants inside the residence suffered minor injuries after fleeing from the home.

Methamphetamine Bust – WHITE

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, December 18, 2020, at approximately 8:46 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment investigated an incident at a Whiting Street, Ingersoll address.

It was determined that police were contacted by a member of the public wanting officers to check on the wellbeing of person that was in a vehicle located in a parking lot of a business. Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle at which time the driver was taken into custody without incident.

As a result, police charged 37-year-old Terrance William WHITE of Woodstock, Ontario with the following offences:

  • Possession of Fentanyl,
  • Possession of Methamphetamine,
  • Operation while prohibited (5 counts),
  • Fail to comply with probation order (2 counts),
  • Driving while under suspension (2 counts), and
  • Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock at a later date.

26 Year Old Facing Sexual Assault Charges

(HURON EAST, ON) – A domestic assault investigation conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Police (OPP) Detachment has resulted in criminal charges against a Huron East resident.

On December 14, 2020 Huron OPP officers received a call from a victim that reported incidents of domestic assault. The subsequent investigation revealed the accused committed an assault causing bodily harm on the victim in 2019. Additionally, two other incidents that took place in 2020 were reported to police. In one incident the accused assaulted the victim with a weapon and in another incident the accused committed a sexual assault against the victim.

The accused, a 26-year-old from Bluwater has been charged with: Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Assault with a Weapon and Sexual Assault. The accused has since been released from custody with a future court date.

16 Year Old Charged For Driving Before 5am – Large Amount Of Cannabis

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A young driver and their passenger are facing charges after a traffic stop in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 10 2020, just before 2:00 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Perth Line 86, in the Municipality of North Perth. During the investigation, a large quantity of cannabis was located, and it was determined the Class G1 driver was driving at a time when they are not permitted, which is between midnight at 5:00 a.m. for novice drivers.

As a result, a 16-year-old resident of Northern Bruce Peninsula has been charged with:

  • Speeding 1-49km/h over posted limit
  • Drive Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis Readily Available
  • Class G1 Licence Holder – Drive at Unlawful Hour

Also, the passenger, a 36-year-old resident of Northern Bruce Peninsula, was charged with:

  • Have Care of Control Vehicle or Boat with Cannabis In Open Baggage

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Police Called To Gathering Of 10+ People – One Charged

(LEAMINGTON, ON) – On December 19, 2020 approximately 8:10pm, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Leamington received a complaint of a gathering on Queens Avenue, Leamington.

Police attended and observed in excess of 10 people present in the building. This was in violation of the total number of people allowed to gather indoors, according to the amendments to the Reopening Ontario Act.

A 37-year old was charged with Failing to comply with a continued section 7.0.2 order contrary to the Reopening Ontario Act, 2020.

$80,000 Drug Bust In North Perth – Names Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Two people are facing charges after a large quantity of drugs were seized in the Municipality of North Perth.

On December 18 2020 members of the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program on Perth Line 72, in the Municipality of North Perth. Shortly after 10:00 p.m., a vehicle containing a large quantity of cannabis entered the program. Along with the cannabis, police also located shatter, gummies and drug trafficking paraphernalia. The estimated value of the seized items is approximately $80,000. The driver and passenger were both arrested and charged.

As a result, Peter BRENNAN, 39, of Wellesley, was charged, and held in custody pending a bail hearing for the offences of:

  • Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

Also, Ronald KEESO, 56, of Wellesley, was charged and released for the offences of:

  • Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling
  • Possession for the Purpose of Distributing

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Horse Runs Into Vehicle

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, December 19, 2020, at approximately 7:04 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment investigated a collision at a Highway 59, Norwich Township address.

It has been determined that at approximately 6;00 p.m., a motor vehicle was travelling on Highway 59 between New road and Ninth Road when a horse ran into the side of  the vehicle. The horse then fled from the area in an unknown direction, so it is not known in the animal suffered any injuries. The damage to the vehicle is estimated at over $2,000.

Police are urging all drivers to expect the unexpected and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Drivers need to focus their attention on their driving ability and avoid any unnecessary distractions.

“It’s not always possible to avoid a collision with an animal, particularly if it suddenly runs or flies onto the road. But drivers can take sensible precautions to minimize the risk of a collision. Motorists are being urged to drive with caution and within the speed limit and to be aware of their surroundings at all times. Goderich Methamphetamine Bust – Name Released

(GODERICH, ON) – A recent traffic stop in Goderich has resulted in a drug trafficking charge being laid against a Goderich resident. 

On Saturday, December 12, 2020 at approximately 10:11 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a known suspended driver travelling westbound on Huron Road. A traffic stop was conducted and a check on the driver indeed confirmed the driver was driving with two valid driver’s licence suspensions.  

The driver was arrested and a search incident to arrest resulted in police finding suspected methamphetamine and drug trafficking materials. 

As a result, Jeoffrey JEWER, 54 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Trafficking a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine and Driving While Under Suspension – 2 Counts. He has been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for February 22, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Snowplow Collision Update – Name Of 19 Year Old Deceased Released

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision involving a car and a snowplow south of Mitchell.

Just before 8:30 p.m. on December 19 2020, the Perth County OPP, Perth County Paramedic Service, and the West Perth Fire Department responded to a collision at the intersection of Perth Road 164 (Highway 23) and Line 32, just south of Mitchell.

The initial investigation has determined that a car travelling westbound on Line 32 and a snowplow travelling northbound on Road 164 collided at the intersection. This intersection is controlled by a stop sign in the east and west directions.

The driver of the car was transported to a local hospital, where they were pronounced deceased. The driver has since been identified as Kylie MCBETH, 19, of Moorefield.

A passenger of the car was also transported to local hospital with minor injuries. The driver of the snowplow was not injured.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team assisted with the investigation. The areas surrounding Perth Road 164 was closed for the investigation, but have since reopened.

Break And Enter At Columbus Centre – Suspect(s) At Large

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers are actively investigating a break, enter and theft that took place this weekend in Wingham.

Sometime between 5:30 p.m. on Friday, December 18th and 7:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19th, 2020 a thief stole $180 cash and a canvass bag from an office located within the Columbus Centre located on Kerr Drive in Wingham.

Anti-Vaxxer Confronted With Pickaxe

On December 19, 2020, at approximately 1:10 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to a weapon call in a parking lot around Weber Street North and Bridgeport Road East in Waterloo. A male confronted the victim while brandishing a weapon after the victim displayed a sign with anti-COVID-19 vaccination messaging. Police located the suspect in the area and placed him under arrest. As a result of the investigation, a 49-year-old Waterloo male has been charged with assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in late January 2021.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – MILLS

(HURON EAST, ON) – A South Huron resident wanted for shoplifting was taken into custody by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers over the weekend. 

Just after 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2020 Huron County OPP officers were patrolling in Vanastra on 12th Street when they came upon a suspect attempting to hide from the officers. Officers were eventually able to detain the suspect and it became apparent to the officers the suspect was wanted in connection with some recent shoplifting incidents. 

Over the last few weeks the accused stole bottles of liquor from businesses in Exeter and Clinton on three separate occasions. 

Bradley MILLS, 32 years of age from South Huron has been charged with the following offences: Resist Peace Officer, Fail to Comply With Probation Order – seven counts and Theft Under $5,000 – three counts. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 25, 2021.
