Another Snowmobiler Airlifted To Hospital

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Thursday, January 28, 2021, at approximately 11:29 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford County Detachment along with the Norwich Fire Department and Oxford County EMS responded to a snowmobile collision at a Norwich Township address.

It was determined that four individuals were operating snowmobiles and were travelling on a trail West of Base Line and north of Norwich Road when one of the operators, a 52-year-old, of Oxford County, Ontario was ejected from their snowmobile after crossing over a lane between two fields.

The operator of the second snowmobile, a 37-year-old of Oxford County, Ontario subsequently struck the first rider. As a result of the collision, the rider was transported by ambulance to a local area hospital and then air lifted by Ornge to a Hamilton area hospital to be treated for life altering injuries.

Technical Collision Investigators along with members of the West Region Reconstruction Team assisted with the investigation.

The investigation is continuing and updates will be provided when new information becomes available.

Michael Bradley HURST – Sexual Assault X6, Indecent Act X4

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – In November of 2020, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) uniform officers and the Crime Unit commenced an investigation into a report of a series of historical sexual assaults and other sex-related offences that occurred in the Township of Wellington North over a 12 year period of time between 2003 and 2015.

As a result of the investigation, the Wellington County OPP Crime Unit has charged Michael Bradley HURST, 43-years-old of Palmerston with Sexual Assault X6 and Indecent Act X4 contrary to the Criminal Code.

The victims and the accused were known to each other.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on March 2, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Good Samaritan Assaulted Near Listowel – Suspect Description Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are seeking to identify a person of interest after an altercation that occurred on a rural road in the Municipality of North Perth.

On January 27 2021, just after 6:00 p.m., the Perth County OPP and Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a report of an assault that had just occurred on Line 89, west of Perth Road 164, north of Listowel. The victim had stopped to assist a motorist, and was assaulted.

The second vehicle had left the scene in a westbound direction on Line 89 prior to police arrival. There may have been two other occupants in the vehicle, and police would like to confirm their well-being.

The victim received minor injuries and was transported to local hospital.

The person of interest is described as:

  • Male, early 30’s
  • Long, scruffy, dark hair
  • Wearing a black mask with white spots, and grey coveralls

The outstanding vehicle is described as:

  • Light coloured compact car (silver or grey)
  • Loud muffler
  • Rust on the trunk, older style licence plate in poor condition

While the investigation is in the preliminary stages, police want to remind members of the public to always be aware of their surroundings and personal safety.

The Perth County OPP is asking anyone who may have witnessed the altercation, or observed a similar vehicle, or travelled in the area of Line 89 or Road 164/Highway 23 around 6:00 p.m. to please check dash-camera footage.

28 Year Old Arrested For Being Out After Curfew

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – A traffic stop early this morning (28Jan) has resulted in an arrest and subsequent charges for a South Huron resident.

At approximately 3:12 a.m. a Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was patrolling the Town of Exeter when the officer stopped a vehicle on Andrew Street. 

Upon checking on the driver the investigating officer determined the driver was failing to comply with a court ordered 11:00 p.m. curfew. As a result the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody.

Jamie MANTIE, 28 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Failure to Comply with a Release Order – Other than to attend Court and Fail to Comply With Continued Section 7.0.2 order. A bail court appearance was scheduled for January 28, 2021.

Snowmobile Collision – Kenneth DECORTE Charged

(HURON EAST, ON) – A Huron East resident is facing an Impaired Operation charge following a snowmobile crash that took place west of Atwood. 

At approximately 6:00 p.m. on January 27, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Perth County Paramedic Services and Grey Township Fire Department responded to the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) trail located between Henfryn Line and Krauter Line to investigate a snowmobile crash.

The driver was transported from the scene to a nearby hospital and while speaking with the driver police formed suspicion the driver had consumed some alcohol. An approved screening device test was completed at the hospital and the driver registered a Fail. Two breath tests were later provided to an Intoxilizer Technician and both tests were found to be above the legal limit.

Investigators learned the driver lost control of his snowmobile and was ejected from his machine while overtaking another snowmobile. The driver sustained minor injuries in the crash. 

Kenneth DECORTE, 56 years of age from Huron East has been charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus). He was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 8, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Theft At Construction Site – WHEELER Arrested

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On January 16, 2021, at approximately 4:30 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft in progress at new housing construction site in Rockwood.  

It was reported that a suspect was observed loading construction materials into the back of a red pick-up truck.  

Shortly after the suspect left the scene, police spotted the truck loaded with the stolen property on Wellington Road 124 near Wellington Road 27. The lone suspect was arrested and the property was recovered.

John Michael WHEELER, 39-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Theft Under $5,000 contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is schedule to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice-Guelph on February 19, 2021 to answer to the charge.

18 Year Old Caught Going 110 in a 60

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 25, 2021, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Speedvale Avenue West in Guelph-Eramosa Township. The officer observed a silver passenger vehicle travelling westbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 60 km/h speed limit. The motor vehicle was locked on radar at a speed in excess of 110 km/h.

Isaac JUNEAU, 18-years-old of Cambridge, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle Perform Stunt – Exceed Speed Limit by 50 Kms or More and Speeding contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on May 19, 2021. Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Pervert Alert: Frank KELLY

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – On January 28, 2021, members of the Dufferin County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Major Crime Unit and Wellington County OPP Major Crime Unit with the assistance of the Child Exploitation Unit and OPP Digital Forensics Unit executed a search warrant at a Belwood residence stemming from two  unrelated investigations in December of 2020.

As a result of this investigation, police have arrested and charged Frank KELLY,

38-years-old of Belwood with Possession of Child Pornography, Luring a Person Under 16 Years of Age By Means of Telecommunication and Distributing Child Pornography.

Another Knife Fight In Waterloo

On January 27, 2021, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of Madeleine Street, near Huron Road, in Kitchener, for a report of a disturbance involving a person with a knife. A 24-year-old male suffered a stab wound after a verbal dispute. Officers who arrived on the scene performed life-saving measures by applying a tourniquet to the male. The victim was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old Kitchener female has been charged with several criminal offences, including aggravated assault, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. The accused is scheduled to appear in court in March 2021.

One Airlifted After Knife Fight

On January 27, 2021, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police were called to a residence in the area of Peel Street, near Bleams Road East, in Wilmot Township. A verbal dispute between two males escalated to a physical altercation. One of the males was armed with a knife. Both males suffered injuries, and one male was airlifted to an out-of-Region hospital with serious injuries. A 60-year-old male has been charged with assault causing bodily harm. Plane Crashes Returning To Kitchener

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On January 24, 2021 at 11:45 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to numerous reports of a plane that had crashed onto the ice on Lake Eugenia, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The 56 year old pilot was returning to Kitchener, after flying near Collingwood. The 2016 Vans 7A airplane began have engine problems and the pilot decided that they needed to make an emergency landing. The pilot chose to land on Lake Eugenia. The plane crashed landed onto the frozen surface, coming to rest in heavy snow in the middle of the lake. The pilot was not injured and walked across the ice to shore. There were no other occupants on board the plane.   

Grey Bruce OPP were assisted at scene by the Grey Highlands Fire Department and the Grey Bruce Paramedic Services.

The Transport Safety Board of Canada was notified and the pilot made arrangements to have the plane safely removed from the lake.

Bus Slides Off Road In Grey Highlands

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON) – On January 27, 2021 at 8:37 a.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a school bus that had slid off the roadway on Grey Road 132, just East of Highway 10, in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

The First Student School Bus had 15 students on board and a driver. All of the students were safely evacuated and were transported to school via another school bus that was sent to the scene. The bus was towed from the ditch. There were no injuries.

Leah TALLYN – Drunk Driving

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) -On January 23, 2021, at approximately 9:23 p.m., members of the Brant County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a complaint of a possible impaired driver traveling westbound on Highway 403 in Brant County. 

The vehicle was observed and stopped on Rest Acres Road, where it was determined the driver was impaired by alcohol. 

As a result of the investigation, the driver, Leah TALLYN, 33-years-of-age from Milton, has been charged with:

•Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC);

•Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the motor vehicle was impounded.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on February 26, 2021 in Brantford.

Andrew SCHRAM – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 9:47 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police responded to reports of a possible impaired driver. Police located the vehicle in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre. 

As a result of an investigation, police have charged Andrew SCHRAM, 49-years-old of Ilderton, with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs as per section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC)
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) as per section 320.14(1)(b) CC

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 4 to speak to the charges.

Store Employee Assaulted When Confronting Thief – Michael MOROZ Arrested

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – On January 26, 2021 at 12:18 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault that had just occurred at a commercial business on Highway 21, on the Sunset Strip, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.  

A suspect had stolen items from a store and then an altercation ensued, after they were confronted by a store employee in the parking lot as the suspect tried to leave the scene. OPP officers patrolled the area and located the suspect nearby and they were arrested without incident. A store employee received minor injuries.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Michael MOROZ, 42 years-of-age, from Owen Sound, with assault, section 266 Criminal Code of Canada CCC and theft under $5,000., section 334(b) CCC.  

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 25, 2021.
