Methamphetamine Bust – DOUCET, BAIN & GRUSIE

(BROOKE-ALVINSTON, ON) – On January 28, 2021, members of the Lambton County Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Canine Unit (K9) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed a warrant on Nauvoo Road, Brooke-Alvinston Township. 

Police seized illegal drugs consisting of suspected methamphetamine, hydromorphone, cocaine, cannabis and a stolen lawn tractor from Oxford County. 

The total value of the seizure is estimated at $57,000. 

Georges DOUCET, 50-years-old of Brooke-Alvinston, Angela BAIN, 31-years-old of Warwick Township, and Tyler GRUSIE, 39-years-old of Warwick Township were arrested and charged with the following:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance For the Purpose of Trafficking (Six Counts)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Five Counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Possessing Cannabis for the Purpose of Selling, pursuant to the Cannabis Act (Two Counts)

The accused have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on a later date.

Machete Armed Robbery

On Sunday, January 31, 2021, at approximately 6 p.m., Waterloo Regional Police responded to the area of King Street West and Strange Street in Kitchener for reports of a robbery. A male and female reported making arrangements using an online forum to purchase an item. When they met with the potential seller, two unknown males – one brandishing a firearm and the other a machete – robbed the victims of their personal belongings. Double Drunk Found Cowering In Barn Like A Dog – RUFF

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On January 29, 2021 at 11:08 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a motor vehicle collision, involving a car in a ditch, on Concession 2 in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.  

OPP officers attended and located the vehicle, but when they approached the driver, the suspect fled the scene on foot. The suspect ran to a neighbouring farm and broke into a barn on the property. Officer located and arrested the suspect without further incident.

The driver was transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment in Chatsworth. A breath test recorded readings over twice the legal limit of 80 milligrams (mgs) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. 

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Martin RUFF, 43 years-of-age, from Arran-Elderslie with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Operation while impaired with blood alcohol concentration – 80 mgs or more, section 320.14(1)(b) CCC
  • Break and enter a place with intent to commit indictable offence, section 348(1)(a) CCC

The accused’s driver’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton on February 24, 2021.

Drug Bust – CHAMBERS & GIBBONS

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, January 29, 2021, members the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Community Street Crime Units from Oxford, Middlesex, County of Brant and Norfolk County executed a search warrant at a Goshen Street, Tillsonburg address.

As a result, investigators took two people into custody without incident and recovered a quantity of suspected Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Canadian currency.

Charged with the following offences is 28-year-old Nichole Marie CHAMBERS of Tillsonburg, Ontario:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl,
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine,
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine, and
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Charged with the following offences is 41-year-old Jan Leroy GIBBONS of Tillsonburg, Ontario:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl,
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Methamphetamine,
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine, and
  • Possession property obtained by crime under $5,000.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock at a later date.

Mark PITTELLI – Drive While Suspended

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) -On Saturday, January 30, 2021 at approximately 1:14 p.m., an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Cockshutt Rd in Brant County, after observing a vehicle with no front plate.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, Mark PITTELLI, 39-years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie, has been charged with:

  • Driving under licence of other jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario contrary to section 36 of the Highway Traffic Act;
  • Fail to Have Insurance Card contrary to section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.  

The driver is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Bryce HAMILTON – Drive While Suspended

(COUNTY OF BRANT, ON) -On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at approximately 10:45 a.m., an officer with the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Brant County Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Norwich Road in Brant County.

As a result of the investigation, Bryce HAMILTON, 36-years-of-age from Brantford, has been charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension contrary to section 53(1) of the Highway Traffic Act.

The charged party is to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Brantford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Ben CROOKER – Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, January 30, 2021, at approximately 6:55 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle at an Alice Street, Waterford, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that a Good Samaritan contacted police after they observed a suspicious vehicle near the Waterford Ponds. Officers arrived on scene and subsequently located the vehicle and as a result of investigation, took the driver into custody without incident.

Charged with operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus is 65-year-old Ben CROOKER of Norfolk County, Ontario.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

Tools Stolen During Break And Enter

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Police are looking for suspects after a break and enter to a business in the Township of Perth East.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted on January 20 2021, after suspects broke into a business on Mill Street West, Milverton sometime the previous night. Suspects gained entry by cutting through a steel wall, and stole approximately $1000 worth of tools. This is not the first time this business has been targeted by thieves.

The Perth County OPP would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity to police immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Citizens are asked to ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to assist in the prevention of some crimes.

Michael ANDERSON – Drunk Driving

(ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP, ON) – On January 31, 2021 at approximately 9:10 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified by members of the public of a single-vehicle collision on Petrolia Line in St. Clair Township.

Lambton OPP members located the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the individual was displaying signs of impairment. The driver was arrested and transported to the Lambton OPP detachment where they provided two samples of breath above the legal limit.

As a result, Michael ANDERSON, 24-years-old of Petrolia, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Blood.
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus), pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada. 

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on March 29, 2021.

Fatal Snowmobile Collison – Name Of Deceased Released

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On January 28, 2021 at 4:44 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a snowmobile crash on Forest Road, near Cape Chin Road North, in Northern Bruce Peninsula. An operator of a yellow and black snowmobile was involved in the collision. 

OPP officers were assisted at the scene by Bruce County Paramedics and Northern Bruce Peninsula Fire Department. OPP Technical Collision Investigators attended to assist with the investigation.

The 58 year old driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The deceased has been identified as David HUNT, of Hamilton.  

Grey Bruce OPP continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Middlesex Weekend Arrests & Charges

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy during their part to keep our communities safe. 

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) On Saturday January 31, 2021 at 3:53 a.m., Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling in excess of the posted 100km/h zone on Highway 401 in Thames Center. 

As a result of an investigation, police have charged a 20-year-old driver of Brantford, ON with:

•          Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) On January 30, 2021 at 8:28 p.m. Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling in excess of the posted 60km/h zone on Richmond Street in Middlesex Center. 

As a result of an investigation, police have charged a 24-year-old driver of Denfield, ON with:

    •     Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) On January 29, 2021 at 9:15 p.m., Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling in excess of the posted speed limit on Highway 402 in Middlesex Centre.

As a result of the investigation, police have charged a 33-year-old driver of Mississauga, ON with:

  • Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges. 

 (MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) On January 30, 2021 at 10:59 p.m., members of the Middlesex OPP and Middlesex Centre Fire were dispatched to Eight Mile Road and Vanneck Road in Middlesex Centre for a vehicle fire. As a result of the investigation, it was revealed the vehicle had previously been reported stolen out of London, ON. At this point, no suspects have been identified.

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) On January 31, 2021 at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Middlesex OPP, North Middlesex Fire and Middlesex EMS were dispatched to a snowmobile collision on private property in North Middlesex. A single occupant was transported to hospital with minor injuries. No charges were laid.

Snowmobilers Assaulted By Hiker

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – On January 28, 2021 at 12:58 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault with a weapon that had just occurred on the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs trail near Highway 6 and Sideroad 3, in the Township of Chatsworth.

Two snowmobile operators were assaulted by a pedestrian that was walking on the trail as they rode past. The suspect swung a large walking stick at the riders as they went by. There were no injuries.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Richard AUSTIN, 60 years-of-age, from Chatsworth, with two counts of assault with a weapon, section 267(a) Criminal Code of Canada.   

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on March 4, 2021.

One Vehicle, Two Impaired Drivers Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment have charged two individuals with drinking and driving offences following a traffic complaint involving a vehicle on Argyle Street North in Caledonia, Haldimand County, ON.

On Saturday January 30, 2021 at 1:03 p.m., OPP responded to a retail store parking lot on Argyle Street North for a traffic complaint where a witness reported a possible impaired driver.

OPP located the vehicle on the property where they investigated.

Through investigation, OPP determined that both the individual in the passenger seat and the individual in the driver’s seat had been operating the vehicle.

During interactions with both individuals, it was determined that both had consumed alcohol.

Officers administered Standard Field Sobriety Tests which both individuals had failed. Subsequently, they were both arrested.

Further investigation determined that both individuals had an illegal amount of alcohol in their body.

OPP has charged 64-year-old Bruce BELANGER of Belwood, ON with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

OPP has also charged 45-year-old Kathleen GRAY of Dunnville, Haldimand County, ON with:

  • Impaired operation of a motor vehicle
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

The accused individuals had their drivers licences suspended for a minimum of 90 days and the vehicle was impounded.

Both are to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

North Huron Resident Facing Theft & Drug Charges – MILLS

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – A North Huron Township resident is facing a date in criminal court after the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a theft at a business in the 1000 block of Highway 9, Carrick Township.

Responding officers located an individual nearby who was taken into custody without incident.

Bradley MILLS, 32-years-old, of North Huron Township was charged with Theft under $5,000, Possess a Controlled Substance and 2 counts of Fail to Comply with Undertaking. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 21, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Ashley EVANS – Theft Over $5,000

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On December 31, 2020 at approximately 1:45 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified about a theft that had taken place on December 25, 2020. Police obtained surveillance video showing the accused taking multiple items from the victim’s residence after the victim left the room.

On January 29, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. the accused was located and arrested in the town of Forest.

As a result, Ashley EVANS, 31-years-old of Forest, has been charged with Theft over $5000, pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.
