Impaired Driver Vs Hydro Pole – One Arrested

(BLUEWATER, ON) –  A resident of South Huron is facing a number of charges in relation to an Impaired Driving investigation that took place over the weekend in Hensall.

On Saturday, March 20, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to Oxford Street East in Hensall to investigate a report of a possible impaired driver that had just collided with a hydro pole and left the scene. Officers responded to Hensall and were able to locate the driver of the suspect vehicle a short distance away.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer observed the driver to be displaying several signs of impairment. Further, when the officer attempted to arrest the driver for impaired operation the driver refused to comply with demands and resisted arrest. 

After a brief struggle officers were able to gain control of the accused and he was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for breath tests. The accused later provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples were found to be above the legal limit.

Wade KENNEDY, 30 years of age, from South Huron has been charged with Impaired Operation, Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus, Dangerous Operation and Resist Peace Officer. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 10, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Serious Injury Collision

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A two vehicle collision in the Municipality of West Perth yesterday morning sent one driver to hospital with serious injuries.

On March 22 2021, just after 10:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), West Perth Fire Department, and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a two vehicle collision on Line 44, in the Municipality of West Perth. The preliminary investigation has indicated that a pick-up truck travelling eastbound on Line 44 crossed the centre line, and struck a tow truck travelling westbound. The pick-up truck entered the ditch, and came to rest in a field.

The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the tow truck was not injured.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated.

Spike Belt & K9 Used To Stop & Arrest Joseph CLUETT

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing a number of charges following an incident in Municipality of North Perth.

On March 11 2021, just after 2:00 a.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a suspicious vehicle travelling on Line 57 in the Municipality of North Perth. The investigating officer believed the driver was wanted on an outstanding warrant. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, it failed to stop, and a tire deflation device was used by an assisting officer to slow the vehicle. During the interaction, the suspect vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign, drove into a police cruiser, and then ended up in a ditch on Perth Road 164. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.

The suspect fled the scene on foot, breaking into a nearby garage at a residence, where they were located with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Canine Unit.

As a result, Joseph CLUETT, 25, of Mitchell, has been charged with:

  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Break, Enter a Dwelling House With Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order – other than attend court
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Operator Charged & ATV Impounded For 45 Days

(SOUTHGATE, ON) – On March 20, 2021 at 12:37 p.m. Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on an all-terrain vehicle (atv) on Proton Street in the Village of Dundalk, in the Township of Southgate.

Offices spoke with the driver, who was currently prohibited from driving, from a previous incident.        

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jarvis-Jerald TOUGAS-BALL, 25 years-of-age, from Mono, with operation while prohibited, section 320.18(1)(a) Criminal Code of Canada and no number plate showing permit number, Regulation 316 16(1) Highway Traffic Act.

The involved atv was towed and will be impounded for 45 days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on April 29, 2021.

Middlesex OPP Weekend Report

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy during their part to keep our communities safe. 

Thames Centre, ON – On March 19, 2021 at 5:35 p.m., Police were dispatched to the report of a motor vehicle collision, involving two vehicles, on Nissouri Road in Thames Center.

As a result of the collision, one vehicle left the roadway. One occupant was transported to hospital with minor injuries as a result of the collision. There were no other injuries reported.

Police have charged 29-year-old, Doug RICHARDSON, of Dorchester with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on April 22, 2021 to speak to the charges.

Middlesex Centre, ON – On March 18, 2021 at 11:53 p.m., Middlesex OPP observed a speeding motor vehicle travelling 50km/h in excess of the posted speed limit on Richmond Street, Middlesex Center. 

Police have charged a 35-year-old driver of London, ON with:

  • Stunt Driving- excessive speed as per section 172 of the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver’s vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for a period of 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charges.

Middlesex Centre, ON – On March 20, 2021, Middlesex OPP responded to an address on St. John’s Drive, Arva, Middlesex Centre Township. Sometime during the overnight hours of March 20, unknown suspects entered a residence on and made off with the complainants identification and personal vehicle, a black BMW 321, 4 door sedan, which had been parked in the garage. Police were dispatched to a second break and enter, after-the-fact, on Croydon Drive in Arva. The complainant had personal items stolen as well as identification. The investigation into both break and enters is ongoing.

Middlesex Centre, ON – On March 20, 2021, Middlesex OPP were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle on East River Road, Chippewas of the Thames Frist Nation. 

Police have charged 36-year-old, Natasha BURCH, of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol, section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada.
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Court of Justice on April 26, 2021 to speak to the charges.

(Southwest Middlesex) – On, March 21, 2021 at 7:16 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, local fire and Middlesex-London EMS, responded to the report of a 9-yr-old child injured, as a result of an ATV accident on Springfield Road, Southwest Middlesex Township.

As a result of the collision and unknown extent of injuries, the child was transported to hospital via Air Ornge.

The child sustained non-life threatening injuries in the collision.

Impaired Driver Hits Parked Vehicles

(GODERICH, ON) – A resident of Goderich is facing criminal charges following a collision investigation that was conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this past weekend.

At approximately 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, March 20, 2021 Huron County OPP officers and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to multi-vehicle crash that took place on Eldon Street in Goderich. The subsequent investigation revealed a pickup truck was travelling southbound on Eldon Street when it crossed the roadway and collided with three parked vehicles on the east side of the road. 

The driver was not injured in the crash however it was noted he was displaying several signs of impairment by a drug. As a result the driver was arrested for Impaired Operation and was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for an evaluation conducted by a Drug Recognition Evaluator (DRE). The driver was ultimately deemed to be impaired by a drug.

Karl BRALL, 32 years of age from Goderich has been charged with Operation While Impaired, Refusal to Comply with Demand and Careless Driving. The accused is scheduled to attend court on May 3, 2021 to answer to the charges.

Drunk Driver From Clinton Totals Pickup Truck

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) –  A resident of Clinton totalled his vehicle and is now facing Impaired Operation charges following a crash that took place this past weekend west of Clinton.

Just after 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 19, 2021 Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a single vehicle crash on Bayfield Road near Parr Line.

The driver managed to escape serious injuries however his pickup truck was completely demolished after it rolled in the ditch. Once the driver was medically cleared he was taken into custody for impaired operation.

The driver was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment where he provided two samples of his breath to the qualified Intoxilizer Technician. Both samples were found to be above the legal limit. 

Michael STEPHEN, 31 years of age, from Clinton has been charged with Impaired Operation & Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration 80 Plus. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 12, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

3 More Impaired Drivers – Names Released

(BRANT COUNTY, ON – On Saturday, March 20, 2021 between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police received three separate reports for traffic complaints from concerned members of the public. Three different incidents resulted in three vehicles impounded and three drivers charged after they were located in the town of Paris.

Police have charged:

  • Tammy Arlene NOONAN, 38 years-of-age of Paris, with Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug,
  • Christopher Graham SIDE, 39 years-of-age of Cambridge, with Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug and Dangerous Operation, and
  • Kyle CROFT, 20 years-of-age of Flamborough, with Operation while impaired – alcohol or drug, Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), Young driver – BAC above zero and Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

All three accused have been released from police custody and are scheduled to appear in the Brantford Ontario Court of Justice at a later date to speak to the charges.

Derek BALINT – Impaired Driving According To DRE

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On March 19, 2021, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Oxford Road 29, Blandford-Blenheim Township.

Police located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, the officer detected signs of impairment and placed the individual under arrest.

The driver was transported to the Ingersoll OPP detachment for testing. A Drug Recognition Evaluator administered the tests and it was determined that the driver was impaired by drug.

As a result of the investigation, 33-year-old Derek BALINT of Oxford County was charged with Operation While Impaired.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date.

18 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On March 14, 2021 at approximately 4:30 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Wellington Road 7 near Sideroad 10 in the Township of Centre Wellington.

The officer observed a passenger vehicle travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

As a result, Mitchell Anthony LEE, 18-years-old of Elora has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle-Excessive Speed contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on June 2, 2021.

Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Loaded Handgun Taken Off Streets – Tom SHADE Arrested

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Sunday, March 21, 2021, at approximately 2:01 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) County of Brant Detachment received a traffic complaint from a concerned member of the public on Highway 403 in the County of Brant.

Officers located the involved vehicle after it exited the highway. After initiating a traffic stop, police located a loaded handgun in the vehicle.

Tom SHADE, 38 years-of-age of Timmins has been charged with the following offences: 

  • Dangerous operation,
  • Possession of property obtained by crime,
  • Operation while prohibited,
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and
  • Numerous other weapons related charges.

3 Arrested In Mount Forest

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On March 14, 2021, at approximately 11:15 p.m. a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer observed a suspicious vehicle parked behind a business on Main Street South in Mount Forest.

As police approached to investigate, one occupant of the vehicle fled on foot but was located moments later by another officer.  During the investigation, police located a pair of brass knuckles and a substance believed to be methamphetamine.

The driver and another passenger were arrested after police discovered that were in possession of a quantity of drugs including cocaine and methamphetamine. Police also seized a stun gun, drug paraphernalia, and Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation, Gordon KOSTAL 39-years-old of Arthur, has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance-Methamphetamine, Possession of a Prohibited Device for a Dangerous Purpose, and Fail to Comply with Prohibition Order. The Accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice – Guelph on March 31, 2021.

Courtney Elizabeth SNYDER 36-years-old of Arthur, has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine, Possession of a Prohibited Device for a Dangerous Purpose, and Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition.  The Accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice – Guelph on April 9, 2021.

Dean Primus MITCHELMORE 45-years-old of Orillia, has been charged with Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Methamphetamine, Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking-Cocaine, and Resist Peace Officer.  The Accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of Justice – Guelph on April 9, 2021.

Tanner Quintin PAGE – Impaired Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On March 17, 2021 at approximately 10:45 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint involving a passenger vehicle driving erratically on Gordon Street near St. David Street North in Fergus.  

Police located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by the consumption of alcohol. When the driver was placed under arrest, it was reported that they became combative and assaulted a police officer.

The driver was transported to a local OPP operations centre where they failed to comply with the Breath Demand and refuse to provide a suitable breath sample.

Tanner Quintin PAGE, 26-years-old of Fergus has been charged with;

  • Impaired Operation- Drug or Alcohol
  • Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Assault a Peace Officer

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on April 23, 2021 to answer to the charges.

24 Year Old Charged Following Collision – Methamphetamine A Factor

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) –  A Kitchener resident is facing a long list of charges following a rollover crash that took place yesterday afternoon south of Wroxeter.

Just before 6:00 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services and North Huron Fire Department responded to a single vehicle rollover crash located on McDonald Line between Amberley Road and C Line Road. 

Upon arrival officers located a damaged compact car that had left the gravel roadway and rolled when it hit the ditch. 

Upon speaking with a witness police learned the driver had fled into nearby forested area. Officers caught a glance of the fleeing suspect and were able to successfully track the suspect and an arrest was made. 

While dealing with the accused the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying several signs of impairment by a drug. Following an assessment at the hospital for potential injuries a drug recognition evaluation was conducted. Upon completion of the examination, the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) determined the driver was indeed impaired by a drug.

A search of the accused was conducted and it resulted in police seizing a replica pistol, quantities of suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl. Additional checks on the accused revealed the accused was breaching conditions of an earlier court release.

Jacqueline SHERRING, 24 years of age from Kitchener has been charged with:

·        Impaired Operation

·        Operation While Prohibited – (2) counts

·        Failure to Comply with Release Order

·        Possession of an Imitation Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purposes of Trafficking – Fentanyl

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 26, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

22 Year Old Charged By DRE

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A Goderich resident is facing an Impaired Operation charge following a traffic complaint that was investigated by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week.

On March 11, 2021 at approximately 10:16 p.m. Huron County OPP received a complaint about a sedan that was travelling in an erratic manner from Benmiller onto Base Line. Shortly thereafter, an OPP officer spotted the suspect vehicle travelling southbound on Base Line. A traffic stop was conducted and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the driver was displaying signs of impairment by way of a drug.

The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for impaired operation and was transported to Stratford where a drug recognition evaluation was conducted. Upon completion of the evaluation the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) determined the driver was impaired by a drug.

Brittany HANSEN, 22 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with Impaired Operation. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 12, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
