Travis PARKER – Stunt Driving, Vehicle Impounded

(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – On May 19, 2021 at 7:53 a.m., a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on patrol along Bruce County Road 20 in Greenock Township noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Travis PARKER, 32-years-old, of Hamilton was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment and an immediate 7-day license suspension.

Transport Truck Driver Charged After Ditching Truck

(KINLOSS TWP, ON) – On May 17, 2021 at 10:07 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OP) received a report of a single vehicle collision involving a transport truck along South Kinloss Avenue in Kinloss Township. Officers responded with members of the Ripley-Huron Fire Department and Bruce County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to find a transport truck had rolled onto its side before coming to rest in the ditch.

The driver, a 58-year-old resident of Georgian Bluffs, was taken to a local hospital for assessment of non-life threatening injuries.

South Kinloss Avenue was closed from Huron-Kinloss Townline to Button Street for the protection of first responders. It has since re-opened to traffic.

As a result of the police investigation, the driver was charged with Careless Driving.

Child Trafficking Charge For Stratford Pervert

In April 2021, the Joint Waterloo-Guelph Human Trafficking team commenced an investigation. It was alleged that the accused obtained sexual services from the victim and solicited the sexual services for monetary compensation. 

On May 19, 2021, as a result of the ongoing investigation, a 31-year-old Stratford male has been charged with the following offences:

  • Human Trafficking (Under 18)
  • Human Trafficking
  • Receiving Material Benefit (Under 18)
  • Receiving Material Benefit
  • Three counts of Obtain Sexual Services for Consideration 

The male has been held for a bail hearing.

The victim has been provided with a safety plan and community resources as part of the Human Trafficking Crisis Intervention program.

44,000lbs Of Beef On Fire Closed Portion Of 401

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – On May 20, 2021 at approximately 4:50 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 401 eastbound near the 70 kilometer marker between Queen’s Line Road and Bloomfield Road in Chatham-Kent.

A tractor trailer loaded with 44,000lbs of beef became fully engulfed, the driver managed to disconnect his truck from the trailer. The driver was not injured. 

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 are expected to be closed for several hours for vehicle removal and clean up. Eastbound traffic will be forced to exit at Queen’s Line Road.

Scrap Metal Stolen Again In North Perth

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Monday May 17, 2021 just before 08:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a theft of copper wire and aluminum from a construction site on Twamley Street West in the Municipality of North Perth.

Sometime between May 15, 2021 and May 17, 2021 unknown person(s) entered the locked storage container on the property and removed the items. This is the second theft the local business has suffered this year. 

The public is asked to report suspicious activity immediately. Armed Robbery – 18 Year Old Arrested

On May 19, 2021, the Waterloo Regional Police Service’s Robbery Unit arrested a Waterloo male in connection to an armed robbery.

On May 14, 2021, police responded to the area of Devitt Avenue North in Waterloo for a report of an attempt vehicle theft. The victim reported that at approximately 3 a.m., he was woken to the sounds of someone attempting to steal his motor vehicle. The victim confronted the suspect and was threatened  by a knife. No physical injuries were sustained as a result of the incident. The suspect was last seen fleeing the area on foot.

As a result of the investigation an 18-year-old male was held for a bail hearing and charged with the following offences, Robbery with a Weapon, Weapons Dangerous, Possession Over $5,000, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Counterfeit Money In Area

(CHESLEY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating after a counterfeit $20 Canadian bill was used at a business in the town of Chesley.

To use or offer counterfeit money is an offence listed in the Criminal Code of Canada that carries a maximum penalty of 14 years in jail upon conviction.

With counterfeit money being passed in the detachment area, the South Bruce OPP is asking businesses to be cautious when accepting a cash payment.

Skylar WILLIAMS Arrested On Outstanding Warrants

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On Wednesday May 19, 2021, an accused individual, facing charges in relation to the McKenzie Meadows residential development site and demonstrations in Caledonia, Haldimand County, attended the Haldimand County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment where two outstanding warrants were executed.

The OPP has charged 37-year-old Skylar WILLIAMS of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation, Ontario with:

  • Mischief (two counts)
  • Disobeying Order of Court (two counts)
  • Intimidation
  • Fail to Comply with an Undertaking 

The accused was arrested, served documents, released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

Ryan SCHIESTEL, 19-years-old, of Carrick Township was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment and an immediate 7-day license suspension.

Repeat Offender Arrested After Aggravated Assault

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On May 18, 2021 at 10:15 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault with a weapon that had occurred earlier in the evening at a residence in Lambton Shores.

The investigation revealed that the victim had driven themselves to hospital following an altercation. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Jerica SMITH, 35-years-old of London, is charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon (two counts).
  • Utter Threats.
  • Fail to comply with release order (three counts).

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Two Stunt Drivers Charged

(SOUTHERN BRUCE COUNTY, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has stopped and charged 2 stunt drivers this past week.

On May 14, 2021 at 9:15 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 3 in Carrick Township noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. Nichole STAGG, 31-years-old, from City of Guelph was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

On May 13, 2021 at 12:03 p.m., a South Bruce OPP officer on patrol along Bruce County Road 20 in Greenock Township noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. Reginald SHAW, 30-years-old, from the Municipality of Grey Highlands was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment and an immediate 7-day driver’s license suspension.

One Airlifted Following Collision

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On Monday May 17, 2021 just after 6:30 p.m., Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Perth County Paramedic Services, and the North Perth Fire Department responded to a single vehicle motor vehicle collision on Perth Road 158 in the Municipality of North Perth.

The 63-year-old driver from North Perth was extricated from the vehicle, and transported by Ornge Air Ambulance to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. There were no other injuries as a result of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.

Aaron WEDGE Arrested Again

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid criminal charges against a Goderich resident following a recent theft occurrence.

On Wednesday, May 12, 2021 Huron OPP officers received a report from a victim that reported her mountain bike valued at nearly $3,000 had just been stolen. Officers were able gather a description of the suspect and approximately ten minutes later police spotted the suspect on Cove Road with the stolen bicycle.

Officers approached the suspect and he was taken into custody without incident. A search of the suspect revealed the accused to be in possession of break-in tools. Additionally, the accused was found to be breaching several conditions of his probation order. 

As a result, Aaron WEDGE, 30 years of age, from Goderich has been charged with: Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, Possession of Break-in Instruments and four counts of Fail to Comply with Probation Order. 

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 21, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Quentin GODOY Charged After Person Thrown From Hood

(SOUTHGATE, ON) On May 8, 2021 at 3:13 p.m. Grey Bruce OPP responded to an injured pedestrian that was thrown from a moving motor vehicle on Bradley Street, near Grey Street in the Village of Dundalk, in the Township of Southgate.

A person had jumped onto the hood of a motor vehicle, then the driver drove away, with the pedestrian still hanging onto the hood. When the driver turned a corner sharply, the pedestrian fell to the ground, sustaining injuries. The pedestrian was treated at hospital for serious but non- life threatening injuries. The driver fled the scene.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Quentin GODOY, 23 years-of-age, from Southgate, with the following offences:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, causing bodily harm, section 320.13(2) Criminal Code of Canada (CCC)
  • Fail to remain, section 200(1)(a) Highway Traffic Act

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 8, 2021.

Solar Panels & Equipment Stolen

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is hopeful some tips from the public will help shine a light on who is responsible for a recent theft of solar panels and solar power equipment near Wingham.

Huron County OPP was contacted last week from a victim that reported thieves had attended their seasonal property located on West Street in lower-town Wingham and had stolen about $1600 worth of solar panels, batteries and other solar power equipment. 

The theft is believed to have taken place sometime between April 14th and May 12th, 2021. 

The stolen items consisted of two solar panels (230 watts & 235 watts), two solar panel batteries, a MTTP solar charge controller and a 1000 watt pure sine power inverter.
