Fentanyl Bust

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday, June 5, 2021, at approximately 1:50 p.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand/Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit stopped and investigated four individuals at a Metcalfe Street South, Simcoe, Norfolk County address.

Officers took all four people into custody without incident. As a result, two of the individuals were charged.

Charged with trafficking fentanyl and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, is 41-year-old Renee Jeannine MCCLELLAN of Haldimand County, Ontario.

Charged with possession of Fentanyl, is 50-year-old Michael Jamie WHITE of Norfolk County, Ontario.

Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, Simcoe at a later date

Allison Clarke WILLIAMS – Impaired Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, June 4, 2021, at approximately 4:17 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment responded to a report of an impaired driver at a Queensway East, Simcoe, Norfolk County address.

Officers arrived on scene and located the driver of the vehicle who was subsequently taken into custody without incident.

As a result, police charged 39-year-old Allison Clarke WILLIAMS of Hagersville, Ontario with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and possession of a Schedule I substance.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

Melissa SCHMIDT Caught Going 140 in an 80

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged another driver after they were speeding more than 60km/h over the limit in the Municipality of North Perth.

On June 6, 2021 just after 10:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on Perth Road 140 after it was found to be travelling in excess of 140km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Melissa SCHMIDT, 38, of East Zorra-Tavistock Township, has been charged with:

–       Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Giuseppe FRANCHINI – Breach & Weapon Charges

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On June 8, 2021, at approximately 1:00 a.m., the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a 31-year-old on Hunt Road, Zorra Township.

While on patrol, police observed a vehicle on the shoulder of the road and a traffic stop was conducted.

As a result of the investigation, Giuseppe FRANCHINI, 31-years-old of London was charged with the following offences:

  •     Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  •     Failure to Comply with Release Order x 2

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on today’s date.

Ryan DONA Facing Numerous Weapons Charges

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On June 8, 2021, at approximately 12:05 a.m., the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested a 40-year-old on Rivers Road, South-West Oxford Township.

Investigation determined that while on patrol, the officer observed a parked vehicle with headlights on and the engine running at that location.

Upon approaching the vehicle, several weapons were observed around the driver.

As a result of the investigation, Ryan DONA, 40-years-of-age from Woodstock was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  •  Possession of Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  •  Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  •  Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
  •  Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  •  Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing There was Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
  •  Transport Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition in a Careless Manner
  •  Failure to Comply with Undertaking

The accused was held in custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock today for a bail hearing.

Methamphetamine Bust – GIBBONS & CHAMBERS

(TILLSONBURG, ON) – On June 3, 2021, the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted by other West Region CSCU units, executed two Controlled Drug and Substance Act (CDSA) search warrants at two residences in Tillsonburg.

A quantity of methamphetamine, fentanyl, ecstasy, Canadian currency, drug processing equipment and property were seized.

The value of the seized items is estimated to be approximately $16,000 dollars.

As a result, Jan GIBBONS, 41-years-old of Tillsonburg and Nichole CHAMBERS, 29-years-old of Tillsonburg, were both charged with three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking.

Both of the accused were held in custody pending bail hearings. 

GIBBONS has since been released and CHAMBERS is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on June 9, 2021.

Victims Assaulted & Held At Gunpoint – 61 Year Old Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 61-year-old individual following an assault investigation involving weapons on Haldimand Road 12 in South Cayuga, Haldimand County, ON.

On Sunday June 6, 2021 at 11:22 p.m., OPP and Haldimand County paramedics responded to Haldimand Road 12 where it was reported an individual had been injured by an edged weapon and the suspect was also in possession of a firearm. It was further reported that the injured individual and another occupant were able to exit the residence to a safe location.

OPP set up containment of the area and, shortly afterward, the suspect exited the residence and was arrested without further incident.

The injured individual was transported by paramedics to a local area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

OPP investigation determined the suspect confronted, and struck the victim with an edged weapon. The suspect then brandished a firearm toward the victim and another occupant of the residence.

All parties involved are known to one another.

OPP obtained a search warrant and have seized a quantity of firearms from the residence.

OPP has charged 61-year-old Carl FEATHERSTONE, Haldimand County, ON with:

  • Pointing a firearm (two counts)
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm (two counts)
  • Assault with a weapon

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga.

Bridge Fire Update

(GREENOCK TWP, ON) – On June 5, 2021 at 5:19 p.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a fire along the rail trail in Greenock Township. Officers responded with members of the Paisley, Saugeen Shores and Walkerton Fire Departments to find a trestle bridge fully engulfed by flames.

The South Bruce OPP and the South Bruce OPP Crime Unit are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire that is deemed suspicious.

Investigators are interested in viewing any video surveillance leading to the Willow Creek Bridge between 12:00 p.m. on June 4, 2021 and 12:00 p.m. on June 6, 2021.

Christopher OLMSTEAD – Fentanyl

(FOREST, ON) – On June 6, 2021 at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding a suspicious person said to be causing damage to a nearby building on Clyde Street, Forest.  

Officers attended and observed an individual near the building matching the description from the earlier complaint. The individual was observed to be in possession of suspected fentanyl, and was taken into custody without incident.    

Christopher OLMSTEAD, 34-years-old of Forest, has been charged with:

  • Possess schedule 1 substance.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on a later date.

20 Year Old Caught Going 130 in an 80

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a Kitchener driver after they were speeding more than 50km/h over the limit in the Township of Perth East.

On June 7, 2021 just before 3:00 a.m., police stopped a vehicle on the Perth Line 34 after it was found to be travelling in excess of 130km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Yug MUMBAIWALA, 20, of Kitchener, has been charged with:

–       Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

$100,000 In Stolen Property Recovered In ACW – John VANDIEPENBEEK Arrested

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH, ON) – An Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident is facing nine criminal charges following an investigation conducted by members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment and members of the OPP Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU). Additionally, the investigative efforts have led to the discovery and seizure of an estimated $100,000 in stolen property.

On May 27, 2021 Huron OPP officers were notified of a break, enter and theft of copper wire from a wind turbine site located on Tower Line in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh. Two large spools of copper wire valued at approximately $41,000 were taken. Following some investigation officers were able to develop some suspect information and a judicial search warrant was authorized.

On May 28, 2021 members from the Huron OPP Detachment, OPP Huron-Perth CSCU and West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) executed two search warrants at property located on Belfast Road. As a result of the search warrant police seized the following stolen items:  Copper wire valued at $41,000, a bin full of scrap metal valued at $7,500, two motorcycles and two pickup trucks. Additionally, police seized an improperly stored shotgun and a significant quantity of suspected crack cocaine.

John VANDIEPENBEEK, 40 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh has been charged with the following offences:

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – Six Counts

·        Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine

·        Careless Storage of a Firearm

·        Fail to Comply with Recognizance

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 26, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Driver From Owen Sound Caught Going 145 in an 80

(MEAFORD, ON) On June 1, 2021 at approximately 7:00 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 26, near the 11th Line in the Municipality of Meaford.

Grey Bruce OPP stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 145 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged George SUTTER, 36-years-old of Owen Soundwith Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, along with a seven-day driver’s licence suspension. The individual’s vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

6 Million Dollar Drug Bust In Arthur

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On June 4, 2021, Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a commercial property on Wells Street West in the Town of Arthur.

Members of the Wellington County OPP CSCU, Wellington County Crime Unit and uniform officers, with the assistance of Perth CSCU , the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) and the OPP Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) seized over 7500 plants as well as a large quantity of Canadian currency and marihuana processing equipment.

The total value of seized cannabis is estimated to be over $6 million dollars.

The following individuals are charged under the Cannabis Act with Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant at a Place That is Not Their Dwelling-House or to Offer to do so, Possession for the Purpose of Distributing, Possession for the Purpose of Selling and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by a Crime Over $5000 contrary to the Criminal Code.

·      Engang EX, 43-years-old of Scarborough

·      Chenguang LI, 47-years-old of Scarborough

·      Lifan LI, 23-years-old of Markham

·      Hai LIN, 29-years-old of Markham

All the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph at a later date.

The PJFCET is responsible for enforcing the cannabis laws and investigating criminal enterprises that exploit or abuse the legal cannabis market.

Missing Child Located Deceased

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) -On Sunday, June 6, 2021, at approximately 2:35 p.m., members of the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit along with the OPP Marine Unit, located 8-year-old Mustapha ADAM from Toronto, Ontario deceased in the waters of Lake Erie. He was located approximately 200 yards away from the shoreline off of Cedar Drive in Turkey Point.

On Saturday, June 5, 2021, at approximately 5:31 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment, OPP Aviation Services, OPP Marine Unit, Norfolk County Fire Department, Norfolk County Paramedic Services along with the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre in Trenton responded to a report of a missing person at a Cedar Drive, Turkey Point address.

It was determined that an 8-year-old boy was seen swimming in the waters of Lake Erie after abandoning a floating raft and attempted to swim back to shore. Family members contacted police after they were unable to locate their son.

Brant OPP Weekend Report

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were busy doing their part to keep our communities safe.

(Highway 403) – MORNING TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGES

On Friday June 4, 2021 at 8:14 a.m., an officer with the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on Highway 403 in the County of Brant. The driver was arrested and transported to the Brant County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged Donna Marie CORNWELL, 56 years-of-age from Brant County with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

 (Pleasant Ridge) – MID-AFTERNOON STUNT DRIVER FACING CHARGES

On Friday, June 4, 2021, at approximately 3:33 p.m., an officer with the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on Shellard Lane in the County of Brant. The officer was on routine patrol when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was determined to be in excess of 50 km/h over the speed limit in a posted 60 km/h zone.

Police have charged Marc Anthony BUSSINEAU, 46-years-of-age from Brantford, Ontario with the following offences:

·           Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed,

·           Speeding 50+ kilometres per hour over the speed limit and

·           Driving while under suspension.

The vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days.

The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date.

(St. George) – CONCERNED CITIZENS CALL RESULTS IN IMPAIRED CHARGE

On Saturday June 5, 2021 members of the Brant County OPP initiated a traffic stop after receiving a report from a concerned member of the public about a possible impaired driver.

Police have charged Michael MULLIN, 57 years-of-age of St. George with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus) and

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

(Burford) TEEN STOPPED DRIVING MORE THAN 50KM/H OVER SPEED LIMIT

On Saturday, June 5, 2021, at approximately 6:02 p.m., an officer with the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on Bishopsgate Road in the County of Brant. The officer was on routine patrol when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was determined to be in excess of 50 km/h over the speed limit in a posted 60 km/h zone.

Police have charged a 17 year-old driver from Tillsonburg, Ontario with the following offences:

·           Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed and

·           Speeding 50+ kilometres per hour over the speed limit.

The vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days.

(Highway 24 South) – OFFICERS ON PATROL NAB STUNT DRIVER

On Sunday June 6, 2021 members of the Brant County OPP initiated a traffic stop after observing a vehicle on Highway 24 South at Colborne Street West.

Police have charged Kyle VILEZ, 18 years-of-age of Brantford with:

  • Driver motor vehicle-perform stunt-cause tire to lose traction.

The vehicle was impounded at the roadside and the individual’s driver’s licence was suspended for 7 days.
