Xavier BARBER – Drunk Driving

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A novice driver from London is facing three charges following a crash that took place last night near Kippen.

Shortly after 9:22 p.m. Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision located on London Road (Highway 4) near Kippen Road. Upon arrival officers located a compact car that had left the roadway into the steep ditch on the east side of the road.

The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle was fortunate that he only sustained minor injuries in the crash however his good fortunes quickly changed when the investigating officer noticed alcohol on the driver’s breath. A roadside screening test was completed and the driver registered a fail.

The driver was subsequently arrested and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for breath tests. Two samples of breath were provided to the intoxilizer technician and both tests were analyzed to be over the legal limit.

Xavier BARBER, 20 years of age from London has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus, Novice Driver BAC Above Zero and Young Driver BAC Above Zero. He has since been released from custody with a court date scheduled for January 4, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Stratford Driver Caught Going 170 in an 80

(WEST PERTH, ON) – A Stratford driver is going to be walking for a week after they were caught driving more than double the speed limit in West Perth.

On November 19 2020, just after 11:00 p.m., a Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer stopped a vehicle on the Perth Line 34, in the Municipality of West Perth, after it was found to be travelling in excess of 170km/h in an 80km/h limit zone.

As a result, Nickademus VAN HORN, 28, of Stratford, has been charged with:

Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed

A seven day driving suspension and seven day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

More Break And Enters

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Three rural residential properties were victim to break and enters last week after unknown suspects committed a series of thefts in the Township of Perth East.

On November 17 2020, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received three reports of break and enters that had occurred sometime overnight at properties on Perth Line 39 and Perth Line 36, in the Township of Perth East. Garages and sheds were entered, and unlocked vehicles entered. Items stolen include various tools, electronics, a bag, clothing, as well as a small amount of cash and gift cards. The total value of all the stolen property was less than $2000.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to remind the public to report any suspicious activity immediately, and consider installing security features, such as increased lighting, cameras, or alarms. Ensure vehicles, sheds, garages and doors are locked to prevent these crimes from happening.

It is possible that more break and enters occurred in the area, but were not reported. The Perth County OPP encourages citizens to report these incidents, and reports can now be submitted online, regardless of value, where there is no evidence at the scene or no suspects. The user can easily log into www.opp.ca/reporting to see a complete list of eligible occurrences, and choose their location to begin the report. This will take the user to a secure link where they will be given precise instructions on how to fill out the report.

Drunk Driver In Ditch Charged – THUKRAL

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TOWNSHIP, ON) – On November 22, 2020 at approximately 8:55 p.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle in the ditch and the driver was possibly impaired on Fife Road near Wellington Road 32 in Guelph-Eramosa Township. It was reported that witnesses observed the vehicle enter the ditch and the driver was asking for assistance getting it out.

Police located the vehicle and while speaking with the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Anthony Douglas THUKRAL, 41-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on January 8, 2021 to answer to the charges.

22 Year Old Drunk Driver In Field Arrested – BOOY

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 20, 2020 at approximately 12:30 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle in a field near Highway 6 near the Fourth Line in Centre Wellington Township.

Police located the vehicle parked in the field with the engine running and lights illuminated. Officers spoke with the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Nathan BOOY, 22-years-old of Nichol Township has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on December 22, 2020 to answer to the charges.

Timothy PRESTIPINO – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 21, 2020, at approximately 12:25 a.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling eastbound on St. Andrew Street East in Fergus.

Officers located the motor vehicle on Wellington Road 18 and while interacting with the driver, determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

Timothy PRESTIPINO, 29-years-old of Guelph has been charged with Impaired Operation and Impaired Operation – 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood) contrary to the Criminal Code. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on December 18, 2020.

Bishnu SUBEDI – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF PUSLINCH, ON) – On November 20, 2020, at approximately 10:50 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver travelling southbound on Highway 6. It was reported that the vehicle struck the centre median, was swerving all over the road, varying speeds and almost caused a head on collision.

Police located the vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop. Police spoke to the driver and determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and they were placed under arrest. The driver was transported to an OPP Operation Centre for further testing.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on January 8, 2021.

Two Arrested Following Weapons Call In Wiarton

(SOUTH BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On November 22, 2020 at 9:37 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a complaint of a person running with an object, resembling a rifle, near a residence at William Street in Wiarton, in the Town of South Bruce Peninsula.

Police patrolled the area and set up containment around a residence at William Street.

Police were able to contact the parties inside the house, and both occupants vacated the residence without incident. No firearm was recovered.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jesse DROUILLARD, 22 years-of-age from South Bruce Peninsula, ON and Kristina HILL, 30 years-of-age from South Bruce Peninsula, ON with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – opioid, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substance Act

Failing to comply with Undertaking, section 145(4)(a) Criminal Code of Canada.

Both of the accused were released on an Undertaking and they are required to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on January 14, 2021.

SIU Invokes Mandate Following 3 Vehicle Collision

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate after a three vehicle collision last week.

On November 19 2020, just before 6:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call after a citizen located a suspicious person in a vehicle at their residential farm property on Perth Line 40, between Road 108 and Road 109, in the Township of Perth East.

The Perth County OPP responded and during the interaction with police, a collision occurred involving two unoccupied fully-marked OPP cruisers and a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV). The lone occupant of the SUV was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Perth East Fire Department and Perth County Paramedic Services assisted in the response.

The OPP has notified the province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU), which has invoked its mandate. As a result, the OPP will not be able to provide any further information. Any other inquiries should be directed to SIU Communications at (416) 622-2342.

19 Year Old Facing Facing First Degree Murder Charge

(ORILLIA, ON) – On November 19, 2020, approximately 8:22 p.m., a member of the public located a male with serious injuries laying on Coldwater Road, near Emily Street, Orillia. Members of the Orillia detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and County of Simcoe Paramedic Services (CSPS) attended to find the male suffering from serious trauma. The 34 year old male, from Orillia, was transported to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

As a result, a homicide investigation is being conducted by the Orillia OPP Crime Unit, with the assistance of OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), under the direction of the Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB). The deceased has been identified as Derek SIMMERSON, age 34, from Orillia.

On Sunday, November 22, 2020, shortly after 11:00 a.m., members of the Orillia detachment of the OPP arrested a male in relation to this investigation. As a result, Justice SNACHE, age 19, of Severn Township, has been charged with First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code. The accused has been held for a bail hearing and is set to appear on November 23, 2020 at the Ontario Court of Justice, Barrie.

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On November 19, 2020 at approximately 11:40 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police responded to single motor vehicle personal injury collision on Highway 6 near Laird Road in the City of Guelph.

Police attended the collision scene and while speaking with the driver determined that their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the collision and for further testing.

17 Year Old Caught Going 135 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH-ERAMOSA, ON) – On November 22, 2020 at approximately 2:30 a.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 in Guelph-Eramosa Township.

The officer observed a black passenger van travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 135 km/h.

As a result, a 17-year-old driver of Elora has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on May 5, 2021.

Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

As a result, Jason Patrick PERRY, 42-years-old of Fergus has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on May 5, 2021.

Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

16 Year Old Caught Going 140 in an 80

(TOWNSHIP OF CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) – On November 20, 2020 at approximately 10:50 p.m., a Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer was monitoring traffic and conducting radar on Highway 6 near Campbell Road in the Township of Centre Wellington.

The officer observed a black sedan travelling southbound at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted 80 km/h speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h.

As a result, a 16-year-old driver from Hanover has been charged with Racing a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in Guelph at the Ontario Court of Justice – Provincial Offences Court on May 5, 2021.

Their vehicle and driver’s licence were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered In Swamp – Methamphetamine A Factor – CARTER Arrested

(SAUGEEN FIRST NATION, ON) – On November 18, 2020 at 12:16 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a possible vehicle fire, with a vehicle that was stuck in a swamp on Nawash Drive, on the Saugeen First Nation, ON.

Police attended and located several illegal items inside the vehicle. The vehicle driver was arrested for taking a motor vehicle without consent.

As a result of this investigation, Grey Bruce OPP have charged Brooke CARTER, 26 years-of-age, from Saugeen First Nation with the following offences:

Take motor vehicle without consent, section 335(1) Criminal Code of Canada (CC)

Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, section 91(1) CC

Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – Methamphetamine, section 4(1) Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Possession of over 30 grams of dried Cannabis in a public place, section 8(1)(a) Cannabis Act

The accused was held for a bail hearing in Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on November 19, 2020.
