Fatal Collision Update – Deceased Identified

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have identified the deceased in a serious collision as Robert D. BACHUK, 48-years-old of Elora.

On April 13, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a serious collision at the intersection of Fourteenth Line and Sideroad 21, east of the village of Alma. A school bus carrying 12 students and a Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) had collided.

Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services, Centre Wellington Fire Rescue, OPP, and Integrated Mobile Police and Crisis Team (IMPACT) clinicians responded. The lone occupant of the S.U.V. was pronounced dead at scene. No occupants on the school bus were seriously injured. The Office of the Chief Coroner was notified.

Investigators continue to look to determine the cause of the collision.

Michael MCDONELL – Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A suspect has been charged after stealing from a local business in the Municipality of North Perth.

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a business on Mitchell Road South, Listowel on March 27, 2022 at approximately 5:30 p.m., after a person was witnessed shoplifting.

Michael MCDONELL, 53, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–       Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

School Bus Involved In Collision – One Dead

(TOWNSHIP OF MAPLETON, ON) – On April 13, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a serious collision at the intersection of Fourteenth Line and Sideroad 21, east of the village of Alma. Initial reports indicated that a school bus carrying 12 students and a Sport Utility Vehicle (S.U.V.) had collided and the driver of the S.U.V. was seriously injured.

The intersection will remain close while members of the West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team seek to identify the cause of the collision.

$65,000 In Equipment Stolen

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A theft from a local tractor dealership has resulted in a significant loss.

On March 22, 2022, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a theft that had occurred sometime during the previous night at a business on Perth Road 164, north of Listowel. Unknown suspect(s) stole equipment out of the cab area of tractors and combines. The total amount of equipment lost is estimated at $65,000.

Assault – RUNDSTADTLER

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On April 2, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) as well as Guelph Wellington Paramedics Services responded to a medical assist call at a residence on Waterloo Street, Mount Forest. Initial reports indicated that a person had fallen down a flight of stair and required medical attention.

It was discovered the injuries had occurred as the result of an assault and not by a fall. During the course of an arrest, one officer was assaulted. Two parties were transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Amber Joan RUNDSTADTLER, 30 years-old of Guelph, has been charged with Assault with a Weapon, Assault Peace Officer and Resist Arrest contrary to the Criminal Code. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph, at a later date.

Meth Bust – VAUGHAN, HAMILTON & ELLIS

(BRANT TWP, ON) – On March 30, 2022, members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), West Region OPP Tactical Rescue Unit (TRU), West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) members, executed a search warrant at a property along Side road 15 north in Brant Township. 

As a result of the execution of the search warrants, police seized a quantity of controlled substances with an estimated value of $10,744.00. Police also seized offence related property with an estimated value of $16,550.

The investigation has resulted in charges against three people.

Michael VAUGHAN, 52 years of age from Brockton has been charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Ecstasy
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Joshua HAMILTON, 25 years of age from Brockton has been charged with:

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Ecstasy
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Christopher ELLIS, 39 years of age from Brockton has been charged with: 

  • Possession of Cocaine for the Purposes of Trafficking
  • Possession of Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Ecstasy
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Walkerton to answer to the charges.

Two Arrested – Drugs A Factor

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On April 6, 2022, at approximately 10:30 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious persons call at a business on Main Street South, Mount Forest. It was reported that two patrons where acting suspiciously at a local restaurant.

As a result of the investigation, Tyler James TROUP, 23-years-old of Harriston, has been charged with Possession of Schedule I Drug – Fentanyl contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. In addition, Lisa Christine GRAHAM, 25-years-old of Mount Forest, has been charged with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 and Failing to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to the Criminal Code. Both are scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph.

Repeat Offender Arrested At RIDE – ESIPU

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) –  On April 8, 2022, just after 2 a.m., The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program on Princess Street in the Township of Georgian bluffs.

A motor vehicle entered the R.I.D.E program, and officers entered into an investigation. Officers determined that criminal offences had been committed, and the driver was placed under arrest.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Victor ESIPU, 34-years-old, from Owen Sound with the following offences:

·        Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)

·        Possession of a schedule I substance

·        Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)

·        Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (two counts)

·        Unauthorized possession of a weapon

·        Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·        Possession of an identity document

·        Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution, or obstruct justice (identity fraud)

·        Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon

·        Obstruct peace officer

·        Driving while under suspension

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 8, 2022.

Drunk Driver Arrested – GREEN

(KINCARDINE TWP, ON) – On April 7, 2022 at 5:55 a.m., the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle that had entered the ditch along Northline Avenue in Kincardine Township. Officers arrived to find the driver had been drinking alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest and taken to the South Bruce OPP Detachment for testing with a Qualified Intoxilizer Technician.

Grahame GREEN, 53-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with Impaired Driving and Operate over 80 milligrams. The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice to answer to the charges.

This charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s license suspension and an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment.

28 Year Old From Teeswater Caught Going 50 Over Speed Limit

(NORTH HURON, ON) – A Teeswater resident will be making a trip back to Huron County for a court date later this spring following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) this week.

On Monday, April 4, 2022 at approximately 8:47 p.m., a Huron OPP officer was conducting speed enforcement patrols in Belgrave when a pickup truck was observed travelling northbound on London Road at a very high rate of speed. 

The officer utilized a RADAR device and was able to obtain a speed reading of the pickup in excess of 50 km/h over the posted 50 km/h speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver was subsequently charged. 

Mitchell LEYEN, 28 years of age from Teeswater has been charged with Perform a Stunt – Speeding. The defendant will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich to answer to the charge. 

Additionally, the pickup has been impounded for 14 days and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension has been applied to the driver.

48 Year Old Arrested Following Hit & Run

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with a number of criminal offences following a fail to remain crash that took place this past weekend. 

Shortly before 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2022 Huron County OPP officers responded to a fail to remain crash that took place at the intersection of Base Line and Londesboro Road. Upon arrival police learned the other driver failed to remain at the scene. Further, while speaking with the occupants of the other involved vehicle police were able to obtain a licence plate of the suspect vehicle and a description of the suspect driver.

Shortly after, police attended a residence located near Bayfield whereupon they located the suspect vehicle and the accused. Upon informing the accused he was under arrest he attempted to evade the officers and resist arrest. Officers were ultimately successful in taking the accused into custody.

The accused was subsequently transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further testing however the accused refused to provide breath samples as required by law. 

Paul JACOBSON, 48 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

·      Dangerous Operation

·      Failure to Stop After Accident

·      Operation While Impaired

·      Refusal to Provide Demand

·      Resist Arrest

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 30, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

18 Year Old Facing 2 Murder Charges

(HURON EAST, ON) – Members from the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit have now laid murder charges against an accused in connection with two suspicious deaths last week near Brussels.

On Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at approximately 4:00 p.m., Huron County OPP and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a residence on Graham Road and located two deceased parties on the property.

The deceased have now been identified as Beverly STEVENSON, age 69, and Darwin DUCHARME, age 65, both residents of Huron East. 

On Friday, April 1, 2022 Huron County OPP with the assistance of OPP Tactics & Rescue Unit (TRU), OPP West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the OPP Regional Support Team (RST) arrested a family member in connection with their deaths.

Jadin DUCHARME, 18 years of age, from Morris-Turnbery has been charged with two counts of Second Degree Murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 6, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. 

This incident is being investigated by the Huron County OPP Crime Unit, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

77 Year Old Facing Assault With Weapon Charge

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person was charged after a dispute ended with one person attempting to hit another with their car.

On March 18, 2022, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a report of an assault that had occurred earlier in the day in the Township of Perth East. A dispute between two people had escalated, and one of the people involved attempted to hit the other with a motor vehicle.

Marie BRICK, 77, of Perth East, has been arrested and charged with:

–       Assault with a Weapon

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

Wingham Drug Bust – Sandy BAKER Arrested Again

(NORTH HURON TWP, ON) – On Wednesday, March 31, 2022, members from the Grey-Bruce & Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Units (CSCU), along with assistance from West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) and West Region OPP Canine executed search warrants. 

Officers searched a dwelling house located on Charles Street in Wingham, as well as, a farm property located on London Road near Blyth. As a result of the execution of the search warrants, two people are facing dates in criminal court.

Police seized Hydromorphone-Dilaudid tablets and Morphine tablets with an estimated street value of $600.

Police also seized offence related and stolen property that consisted of a Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV), a Gator Utility Vehicle, an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), two Landscape trailers, Break and Enter tools, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) plates and Licence plates. The estimated value of the recovered property is $95,100. 

Sandy BAKER, 36 years of age from Wingham has been charged with:

  • Altering/Destroying/Removing a Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) – 5 counts
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – 3 counts
  • Trafficking in Stolen Goods Over $5,000 – 2 counts
  • Trafficking in Stolen Goods Under $5,000
  • Trafficking in Property Obtained by Crime
  • Fraudulent Concealment – 2 counts
  • Fraud Over $5,000
  • Possession of Break-in Instruments
  • Fail to Comply With Release Order

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 1, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice.

Kelsey CHAPMAN, 21 years of age from Blyth has been charged with: 

  • Fail to Comply with Release Order

She remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for April 1, 2022 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

45 Year Old From Meaford Arrested

(MEAFORD, ON) On March 22, 2022 at 2:48 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an unwanted person on Nelson Street West in the Town of Meaford.

Police arrived on scene and located the accused inside a residence. They were subsequently placed under arrest without incident.  

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Jason HARBOTTLE, 45 years-of-age, from Meaford with unlawfully in dwelling house.

The accused was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.
