Casandra BAKER – Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person has been charged after stealing items from a local business.   

The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a business on Wallace Avenue North, Listowel on February 7, 2023, just before 12:00 p.m., after a person was witnessed shoplifting.

Casandra BAKER, 30, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Middlesex OPP Weekend Update

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Traffic Stop for Stunt results in Impaired Charge

On February 26, 2023, at 10:45 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol on Richmond Street in Middlesex Centre, observed a vehicle travelling well above the posted 60km/h zone.

A traffic stop was initiated at which time it was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Amber EADIE, a 27-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on April 4, 2023.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Collision with Deer results in Charges

On February 25, 2023, at 1:49 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to Medway Road in Middlesex Centre, for the report of a car verse deer collision.

As a result of the investigation, Spencer ROWLAND, a 53-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Drive motor vehicle – not equipped with ignition interlock device
  • Driver fail to surrender licence

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice on March 23, 2023, to speak to the charges.

(NORTH MIDDLESEX, ON) – Theft of utility Trailer from Parkhill

On February 24, 2023, at 8:39 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to an address on McLeod Street in Parkhill, North Middlesex, for the report of a stolen trailer.

It was determined unknown suspect(s) entered the property, sometime during the overnight hours on February 14, 2023, between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., and proceeded to steal a 2020, black utility trailer.

The investigation is continuing.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

47 Year Old From Mitchell Arrested

(WEST PERTH, ON) – On February 18, 2023, just after 10:30 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Ontario Road in the Municipality of West Perth.  

Upon speaking with a driver who entered the checkpoint, the driver admitted to consuming alcohol at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a local operations center for further testing.

As a result, Kirk KIPFER, a 47-year-old resident of Mitchell has been charged with the following:

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Another Meth Bust – DWARIKA

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Perth resident with multiple offences after being stopped at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) in the Municipality of North Perth.

On February 17, 2023, just before 8:30 p.m., a Perth County OPP a vehicle was stopped at a RIDE program on Krotz Street East in North Perth.

Through the course of investigation, officers learned that the driver was currently bound by a curfew condition.

As a result, Darryl DWARIKA, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Fail to comply with release order – other than to attend court (two counts)

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule II Substance – Other drugs (two counts)

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

71 Year Old Driver Hits Pedestrian

(PERTH EAST, ON) – One person has been charged after striking a pedestrian with their pick up truck.

On February 17, 2023, just after 10:00 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Perth County Paramedic Services responded to a collision on Mill Street West in the Township of Perth East. The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 71-year-old resident of Milverton, has been charged with:

–      Careless Driving cause bodily harm

–      Driver fail to surrender license

The accused was issued two Provincial Notices for the offences.

Thief Arrested In Listowel – Name Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A suspect has been charged after stealing from a local business in the Municipality of North Perth.

On February 16, 2023, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was called to a business on Mitchell Road South, in Listowel, after a person was witnessed shoplifting.

Kelly KARPENKO, 34, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charge.

Assault With Weapon Causing Bodily Harm

(WEST PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a West Perth resident after a domestic disturbance incident.  

On February 16, 2023, police began an investigation into a domestic incident in the Municipality of West Perth. During the investigation, it was determined that one person involved assaulted the other. The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

A 32-year-old resident of West Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Assault Causing Bodily Harm – Spousal

–      Assault with a Weapon – Spousal

–      Mischief Over $5,000

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

18 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving – Serious Injury Collision

(WEST PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with an impaired related offence in the Municipality of West Perth.  

On February 24, 2023, just after 6:30 a.m., Perth County OPP, West Perth EMS and West Perth Fire Department responded to a two-vehicle collision on Line 34 in the Municipality of West Perth.

Both drivers were transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One of the drivers was later transported to a London hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

During the investigation, officers determined the driver was impaired. The driver was arrested and transported to a local detachment for further testing

As a result, Nathan MYERS, 18, of Mitchell, has been arrested and charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused has is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.

One From Meaford Arrested

(MEAFORD, ON) The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired related offences following a single vehicle rollover.

On February 21, 2023, at 3:35 P.M., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle which had left the roadway and rolled over.

The driver of the motor vehicle was transported to a local area hospital and treated for nonlife threatening injuries. While at the hospital, officers detected signs of impairment from the driver, and they were placed under arrest.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Sonya HARVEY, 46 years-of-age, from the Municipality of Meaford with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired (80 plus)

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

HODGINS Arrested

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on February 18th at approximately 2:15 p.m. on Morrison Line at Huron Street East, just east of Exeter. 

Huron County OPP officers were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Morrison Line in South Huron when a vehicle entered the RIDE check. Police spoke with the driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Scott HODGINS, 50 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

One Arrested In Belgrave – Name Released

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on February 20th just after 9:00 p.m. on Queen Street in Belgrave.

Police spoke with the driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over the legal limit. 

Patrick STECKLE, 25 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The accused was additionally charged with an offence under the Liquor Licence Control Act.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Travis MACDONALD Arrested

36 Year Old Driver With Leg Out Window Arrested

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident with Impaired Operation after concerned citizens witnessed unusual driving behaviour on February 20th

Huron OPP officers responded to complaints from witnesses in Goderich who had observed a driver operating a motor vehicle with their left leg out of the driver’s window in the Town of Goderich at approximately 9:30 a.m. Officers patrolled the area and located the involved vehicle and driver in a parking lot. In speaking with the driver, officers had reason to believe that they were impaired by drug and were subsequently arrested. A suspected cannabis device was found on the driver during a search.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further tests conducted by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).  

Kyle HUTT, 36 years-of-age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with the following offence:

–      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused’ driver’s licence was seized for 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for March 27th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Wellington OPP Weekly Report

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On February 9, 2023, at approximately 9:00 a.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 6 at Marden Road, Guelph/Eramosa. It was reported that four vehicles had been involved and that one person suffered injuries. One person was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 23-year-old driver from Guelph, has been charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On February 9, 2023, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a reported two vehicle collision on Smith Street, Arthur. As a result of the investigation, a 59-year-old driver form Wellington North, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 9, 2023, at approximately 4:30 p.m., Wellington County OPP responded a reported multi-vehicle collision on Highway 6 South, Puslinch. It was reported that three vehicles were involved, and one person suffered minor injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 36-year-old driver from Burlington was charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on April 5, 2023.

On February 10, 2023, at approximately 3:45 a.m., Wellington County OPP responded to a reported multi-vehicle collision on Brock Road South, Puslinch. It was reported that two vehicles were involved, and one person had suffered injuries. As a result of the investigation, a 46-year-old driver from Guelph, was charged with Careless Driving, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act.

On February 12, 2023, a member of the Wellington County OPP was monitoring traffic on Wellington Road 7, Pilkington. At approximately 10:15 a.m., a black sedan was observed travelling well above the posted 60km/hr speed limit. As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old driver of Guelph, has been charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt – Excessive Speed, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 12, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a blue sedan on Tower Street South, Fergus. As a result of the investigation, a 44-yea-old driver from Conn, was charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance, contrary to the Compulsorily Automobile Insurance Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 13, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a driver of a vehicle that was acting erratically on McLean Road, Puslinch. As a result of the investigation, a 25-year-old from Brampton has been charged with Driving while under Suspension, Drive Commercial Vehicle without Required Inspection, Fail to Accurately Complete Daily Inspection Report and Fail to Surrender Completed Daily Inspection Report. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court on May 17, 2023. A business out of Port Elgin was also issued provincial offence notices for Fail to Ensure Daily Inspection is Conducted Properly and Permit Unlicensed Person to Drive commercial Motor Vehicle.     

On February 14, 2023, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a member of the Wellington County OPP stopped the driver of a white sedan on the Hanlon Expressway Guelph. As a result of the investigation, a 38-year-old driver from Guelph, was charged with Driving while Under Suspension and Drive Motor Vehicle, No Permit, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act. Further, the driver was also charged with Operate Motor Vehicle without Insurance contrary to the Compulsorily Automobile Insurance Act. The defendant is scheduled to appear in provincial offences court – Guelph, on May 17, 2023.

On February 15, 2023, at approximately 3:30 p.m., an officer with the Wellington County OPP observed a black pickup truck traveling at approximately 129 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone along Speedvale Ave. West. As a result of the investigation, a 61-year-old of Kitchener has been charged with Stunt Driving and is scheduled to appear in the provincial offences court on May 17, 2023. 

Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired- 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

Police Lay Drug Charges after Driver Attempts to Flee Traffic Stop in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario – Waterloo Regional Police have laid drug charges after a driver attempted to flee a traffic stop in Kitchener.

On February 15, 2023, at approximately 7:15 p.m., an officer on proactive patrol conducted a traffic stop of a suspected impaired driver in the area of Charles Street East and Queen Street.  

When the driver was informed he was under arrest for impaired operation, he attempted to flee on foot, and after a brief foot pursuit, was taken into custody by officers.

Police seized suspected cocaine and Canadian currency as part of the investigation.

As a result of the investigation, the driver, a 35-year-old Kitchener male, was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired  
  • Escape and being at large without excuse
  • Operation while prohibited
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking
  • Disobey sign
  • Fail to surrender permit
  • Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available
  • Fail to have insurance card

The male was held in police custody for a bail hearing.
