Assault – One Sent To Hospital

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA, ON) –On April 23, 2023, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to an assault at a private residential community on Highway 7, west of Guelph. It was reported that two known individuals had assaulted a resident and that the injuries were severe.

A 60-year-old resident was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is continuing and is believed to be an isolated incident.

Collision In Goderich Leads To Impaired Charge – BIRKS

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh resident with Impaired Operation after a motor vehicle collision in a parking lot on April 3rd. 

Huron OPP officers responded to a business parking lot on Huron Road in the Town of Goderich for a two-vehicle collision that occurred at approximately 8:40 p.m. In speaking with the driver, officers had reason to believe that they were impaired by drug and were subsequently arrested.

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for further tests conducted by an OPP Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).  

Linda BIRKS, 64 years-of-age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with the following offence:

–      Operation while Impaired – Drugs

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days and the accused’ driver’s licence was seized for 90 days.

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for May 8th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Middlesex OPP Weekend Report

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – Over the course of the weekend, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were busy doing their part to keep our communities safe. 

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – RIDE Program results in 3-day Driving Suspension

On April 23, 2023, at 2:41 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were performing a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program on Longwoods Road in Middlesex Centre.

A vehicle entered the Program, at which time it was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized resulting in an ‘Alert’.

The drivers’ licence has been suspended for three days.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver Charged with Stunt Driving

On April 22, 2023, at 8:59 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County OPP, while on general patrol, observed a vehicle travelling at double the posted 60 km/h speed limit on Highbury Avenue in Middlesex Centre.

A traffic stop was initiated.

As a result, a 30-year-old of Mississauga was charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed under the Highway Traffic Act.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charge.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Single Vehicle Rollover results in Impaired Charge

On April 22, 2023, at 11:47 a.m., members of the Middlesex OPP along with members of the Middlesex-London Paramedic Service were dispatched to the report of a single vehicle rollover on Littlewood Drive in Middlesex Centre.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Alexander SUMMERS, a 47-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 24, 2023.

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Traffic Complaint leads to Impaired Charge

On April 22, 2023, at 9:18 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to Elijah Road, Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, for the report of a suspicious vehicle in a parking lot.

Officers arrived on scene and located the vehicle, at which time the lone occupant was woken by officers.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Lus Kah Lah Kwas DOXTATOR, a 30-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 14, 2023.

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Stolen backhoe from business in Thames Centre

On April 22, 2023, at 7:36 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to a business at 21778 Nissouri Road in Thames Centre, for the report of a theft of a backhoe.

It was determined unknown individuals(s) entered the property sometime during the overnight hours and broke into a secured area on the property.

As a result, a 2014, yellow, Caterpillar 420F backhoe was stolen.

The investigation is continuing.

(LUCAN BIDDULPH, ON) – Arrest made in Break and Enter to Business

On April 22, 2023, at 3:22 a.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP were dispatched to an address at 14368 Elginfield Road in Lucan Biddulph for the report of an alarm at a business.

Officers arrived on scene and confirmed the business had been broken into.

Multiple officers attended the area along with OPP K9, at which time an individual riding away on a bicycle was located.

The individual was placed under arrest without incident.

As a result, Robert MARCHAND, a 54-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 14, 2023.

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Two-Vehicle Collision results in Careless Driving charge

On April 21, 2023, at 3:29 p.m., members of the Middlesex County OPP, the Middlesex London Paramedic Service and Middlesex Centre Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Highbury Avenue at Ten Mile Road in Middlesex Centre for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

The roadway was closed as a result of the collision and two involved individuals were transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result, a 26-year-old of London, has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Careless Driving.

The driver is scheduled to appear in an Ontario Provincial Traffic Court to speak to the charge.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Stabbing – One Arrested

(ELGIN COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Elgin County Detachment has charged an individual following an investigation of a reported stabbing.

On April 22, 2023, at approximately 3:44 a.m., Emergency services responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence on Stanley Street, Port Stanley.

Officers arrived on scene and an individual was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Jade ANTONE, 36-year-old of Port Stanley, Ontario was charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in St. Thomas on June 13, 2023.

Officer Struck in Kitchener

Waterloo Region, Ontario â€“ Police have charged a male after an Auxiliary officer was struck by a vehicle in Kitchener early Sunday morning.

On April 23, 2023, at approximately 3:20 a.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance in the area of Highland Road West and Westmount Road West.

During the investigation, police located an involved male in a vehicle in a parking lot. As officers spoke with the male, he rapidly reversed his vehicle with the driver’s side door open. An Auxiliary officer was struck by the open door and sustained minor physical injuries. The male then fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed.

Officers subsequently located the male in the vehicle parked in the area of Salzburg Drive and Columbia Street East in Waterloo and placed him under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, the male, a 38-year-old from Waterloo, was charged with:

  • Refusal to comply with demand
  • Assault peace officer with a weapon
  • Dangerous driving
  • Failure to stop after accident
  • Having care or control of a motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on May 17, 2023.

Meaford Robbery – Repeat Offender Arrested Again

(MEAFORD, ON) – The Grey Bruce OPP are issuing an updated release as the initial release had an error in the title.

On April 20, 2023, at 11:59 P.M., members from the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a business on Sykes Street North in the Municipality of Meaford for a robbery in progress.

On April 21, 2023, at 12:30 A.M., uniform members located the suspect, and they were taken into custody.

Members from the OPP West Region Emergency Response Team, and the OPP Canine Unit attended the area, and several items of offence related property were also located.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged Dylan DESHANE, 30 years-of-age, from Sarnia with the following offences:

  • Robbery with violence
  • Disguise with intent
  • Fail to comply with probation order

The accused is being held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

30,000 Chicks Stolen

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating the theft of approximately 30,000 chicks from a farm in South Huron.

On Thursday April 20, 2023, Huron OPP officers received a report that the 15-day-old baby chicks were stolen sometime overnight on April 19/20 between approximately 3:30 p.m. and 2:20 a.m.

The chicks are valued at $1.40 each which calculates to a total of $42,000 in losses.

The Huron OPP is seeking the public’s help in identifying the culprit(s) involved in this incident. Any witnesses to the theft are encouraged to contact police.

FORD Arrested For Theft

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A suspect has been charged after stealing from a local business in the Municipality of North Perth.

On April 10, 2023, at approximately 2:52 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a business on Wallace Avenue North, in Listowel, after a person was observed loitering.

As a result, Kimberly FORD, 31, of Southgate Township, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 15, 2023.

24 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On April 8, 2023, at approximately 4:45 a.m., officers from the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Line 40 in the Township of Perth East.

Upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver was impaired by a drug. The driver was transported to hospital and was subsequently arrested and transported to a local operations centre for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.   

As a result, Shelana BARCLAY, 24-year-old of Cambridge, has been charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 1, 2023.

37 Year Old Arrested For Impaired Driving

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and investigated a passenger vehicle after receiving a report of a suspected impaired driver.

On April 6, 2023, at approximately 8:41 p.m., an officer of the Perth County OPP located the vehicle on Perth Line 86 in the Municipality of North Perth. The driver was showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, Budhi Rag RAI, 37, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.  

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on May 15, 2023.  

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

Michael GREER Arrested Again & Facing Numerous Charges

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated an unwanted person occurrence in Central Huron, (Clinton) on April 2nd which led to an arrest and 10 criminal charges.

On Sunday April 02, 2023, at approximately 10:05 p.m. Huron OPP officers received a report of an unwanted person at a business on Beech Street in Clinton. Police responded within minutes and located the subject of the complaint who had reportedly just stolen an employee’s bicycle and fled. Officers checked the area and located the stolen bicycle nearby where the suspect was found hiding inside a building that they had just broken into. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP detachment for processing. During the search of the accused, several pieces of identification were located that had been reported stolen earlier in the day.

As a result of the investigation, Michael GREER, 35 years of age of no fixed address has been charged with the following offences:

–      Theft Under $5,000,

–      Break and Enter,

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (four counts),

–      Possession of an Identity Document (two counts),

–      Fail to Comply with a Probation Order (two counts).

The accused was held for a bail hearing and has been remanded into custody.

FRIEST Arrested – Stolen Property

(DUNDALK, ON) The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual in relation to a stolen property investigation.

On January 24, 2023, The Grey Bruce OPP recovered several stolen items at a property on Grey Road 4 in the Municipality of Grey Highlands.

On April 9, 2023, just after 3:25 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP arrested an individual in connection with the investigation.

Alexander FRIEST, 36 years-of-age from Melancthon Township is charged with possession property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound at a later date.

HUFF Arrested Again

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – A suspect has been charged after stealing from a local business in the Municipality of North Perth.

On March 12, 2023, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a business on Mitchell Road South, in Listowel, after a person was witnessed shoplifting.

As a result of the investigation, on April 7, 2023, Shaneika HUFF, 25, of North Perth, has been charged with:

–      Theft Under $5000 – Shoplifting

–      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on April 17, 2023.

20 Year Old Facing Assault Charge

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an investigation.

On September 19, 2022, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated an investigation, after an individual was assaulted at a residence on Queen Street East in the Municipality of North Perth.

As a result of the investigation, on April 3, 2023, Perth County OPP charged Xavier RAITHBY, 20-year-old of North Perth with:

–      Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke, suffocate or strangle

–      Mischief Under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date to answer to the charges.
