Olga Antonov – Drunk Driving

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) – One person is facing charges after the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for service that a vehicle struck a residence. 

On July 17, 2024, at 11:48 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP received a call that a vehicle drove into a residence on Sir Johns Crescent in Georgian Bluffs. The Grey Bruce OPP learned that the homeowners were sitting in the room that the vehicle crashed into at the time of the collision. The homeowners received no injuries. As the police officer was speaking to the driver, an odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected. 

As a result, Olga Antonova, 48-years-old from Toronto was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was transported to hospital as a precaution and released.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Owen Sound on August 8, 2024.

Barkomal UPPAL – Drunk Driving, Hit & Run

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver involved in a single motor vehicle collision with impaired operation.

On July 14, 2024, shortly before 9:30 p.m., Caledon OPP responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Old School Road, near Kennedy Road, in the Town of Caledon. No injuries were reported. During the investigation, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Barkomal UPPAL, 31, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Fail to remain

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 8, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Brian TRENHOLME – Drunk Driving

(NORTH BAY, ON) – Traffic complaint results in driver charged for impaired driving.

On July 12, 2024 shortly before 6:00 p.m., the North Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint involving a grey Ford pick-up truck on Highway 17, North Bay.

Police located the subject vehicle and through investigation Brian TRENHOLME, 57 years-of-age of Keswick, was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on August 27, 2024. They were issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Citizen Charged With “Omit to assist peace officer”

(QUINTE WEST, ON) – A Niagara Falls resident faces multiple criminal and traffic charges after an incident on Highway 401 in Quinte West.

An officer with the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting traffic enforcement on the highway on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, when a motorcycle was observed travelling at more than 180-kilometres per hour, moving erratically in the traffic.

The officer located the motorcycle a short time later at a nearby service centre.

While attempting to arrest the rider, the officer was assaulted. The individual continued to resist arrest and a Conducted Energy Weapon was utilized. The male continued to struggle but was taken into custody with assistance from a member of the public.

Michael SULLIVAN, age 33, has been charged with:

  • Assault a peace officer
  • Resist a peace officer
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – cocaine
  • Stunt driving-excessive speed
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive a vehicle with no plates
  • Drive without a proper headlight

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Friday, July 19, 2024.

The accused is also the subject of several arrest warrants in Toronto.

A second person arrested at the scene, Jenna COLLINGRIDGE, age 22 of Belleville, was charged with:

  • Obstruct a peace officer
  • Omit to assist a peace officer

This accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 15, 2024.

David BURGER – Cocaine

(COCHRANE, ON) – One arrested for driving on a disqualified licence, vehicle impounded for 45 days.

On July 12, 2024, at approximately 10:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Railway Street in Cochrane.

An investigation revealed the driver’s licence was disqualified under the criminal code, and the driver was arrested. A search incident to arrest yielded a small amount of a substance suspected to be cocaine.

As a result, David BURGER, 43 years-of-age of St. Catherines was charged with the following:

·        Operation while prohibited under the criminal code

·        Possession of a schedule I substance – Cocaine

The accused was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on August 13, 2024. The vehicle was impounded for 45 days.

Kyle OLDS Arrested Again

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual following an incident where police cruisers were damaged by a stolen vehicle.

On July 10, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., officers were on Front Street in Hastings and were alerted to a stolen pick-up truck by the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) in their cruiser. Police confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen from Fort Erie on July 8th, 2024.

As officers attempted to box in the parked vehicle, the driver then rammed two cruisers and fled the area in the pick-up truck.

On Jul 13, 2024, police were informed by Hamilton Police that the accused had been apprehended and was in their custody. On July 15, 2024, the individual was returned to Northumberland by OPP.

Kyle OLDS, 33-years-old, from Hamilton, has been arrested and charged with:

–      Dangerous operation – two counts

–      Flight from peace officer – two counts

–      Failure to stop after accident

–      Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

–      Fail to comply with probation order.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

Berat BERBEROGLU Was Arrested

(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Kitchener resident with impaired driving.

Lanark officers responded to a traffic complaint on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, shortly after 12:30 a.m., on Highway-7 in Tay Valley Township, just west of Perth. 

Officers located the vehicle as it entered a parking lot on Dufferin Street in Perth. An Approved Screening Device was utilized, and the driver was arrested and transported to the Lanark Detachment for further testing,

As a result of the investigation, Berat BERBEROGLU age 53, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on August 26, 2024.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension) and vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

Jacob LECLAIR – Drunk Driving

(NORTHEASTERN MANITOULIN AND THE ISLANDS, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged following a single vehicle collision.

On July 13, 2024, shortly before 2:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single vehicle collision on Highway 540 in Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands. Police arrived on scene and determined there were no injuries for the lone occupant of the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine that the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Jacob LECLAIR, 19-years-old from Sudbury has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Breach of probation order (P.O.A.)
  • Young driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on August 27, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Police Warn Of Fake Foreigners

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – Members of theHuron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a financial institution in the Township of North Huron, Wingham for a report of possible fraudulent documents and suspicious person on Tuesday, July 16th, 2024. 

Just after 3:30 p.m. on July 16th, police were contacted by bank staff advising of a lone male that had attempted to open a bank account using a passport from a foreign country along with immigration papers and other documents. The male advised he lived and worked locally, however bank staff checked to find that the residential address the male provided did not exist. The bank also confirmed that he was not employed at the local business as he had claimed. When confronted with these findings, the male fled the bank, leaving some of the documents behind.

Huron OPP officers viewed the suspect’s passport and confirmed it to be a fake with the Canadian Border Services Agency (CBSA).

Police believe that the intention of the fraudsters is to open accounts with false identification, then gradually defraud banks of money over time.

Local banks are being made aware of this issue and are encouraged to contact OPP if something similar occurs at 1-888-310-1122.

Kieren BOLDUC – Assault & Threats

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Ignace Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with numerous offences. 

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Ignace OPP Detachment responded to an incident at a residence on Spruce Street, in the Township of Ignace.

As a result of the investigation, Kieren BOLDUC, an 18-year-old Ignace resident has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·        Adult Failure to comply with an undertaking – two counts

·        Adult Assault a Peace officer – two counts

·        Adult Resist Peace officer – two counts

·        Adult Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden at a later date.

David SCHOUTEN – Drunk Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged after being stopped at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program.

On July 13, 2024, shortly after 1:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 6 near Clear Lake Road in Espanola. A vehicle entered the R.I.D.E. program and upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, David SCHOUTEN, 59-years-old from Espanola has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on August 6, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Aaron ARCHIBALD Was Arrested Again

(COCHRANE, ON) – Two people charged with weapons offences, after police responded to a disturbance in Cochrane.

On July 15, 2024, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a disturbance on a trail near Lake Commando in Cochrane. The caller reported that a person had brandished a handgun during a verbal dispute.

Police responded to the area; however the subject of the complaint was not located at the reported location. The OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and James Bay Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) were engaged to assist with the investigation.

Police located and arrested the accused person at a residence on Eleventh Avenue in Cochrane.

As a result of the investigation, Aaron ARCHIBALD, 28 years of age of Scarborough, was charged with:

·        Assault with a weapon

·        Carrying a concealed weapon

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

·        Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted weapon

·        Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order

·        Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 19, 2024, in Cochrane.

Further investigation into the altercation resulted in Hazel MOORE, 21 years of age of Cochrane, being charged with:

·        Assault with a weapon

·        Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 13, 2024, in Cochrane.

Fatal Collision

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a two-vehicle collision that took place yesterday, July 16th, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m.

Police along with fire and EMS were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision involving two SUVs on Highway 7 near Round Tree Road. Unfortunately, the driver from one SUV , a 57-year-old male from Lindsay, was pronounced deceased in hospital. The other driver was treated for minor injuries.

Highway 7 and Round Tree Road remained closed while members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.

William SCHARF Was Arrested

(TAY VALLEY TOWNSHIP, ON) – An individual, wanted in connection with an incident in the Maberly area, is now in custody.

A disturbance was reported on July 9, 2024, at a location on Bennett Lake Road. A person indicated they were threatened, and a gun was seen.

As officers from the Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrived, they attempted to stop a vehicle fleeing the scene. The driver avoided numerous cruisers and a spike belt and left the area.

Lanark OPP has now arrested William SCHARF, age 50 of Drummond-North Elmsley, who is charged with:

  • Flight from a peace officer
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle

The accused, who turned himself in to the OPP this morning, is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth today, Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

Thomas HALE, age 35 of Tay Valley Township, was arrested the day of the incident and charged with obstructing a peace officer. This accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on August 26, 2024.

The OPP believes this was a targeted incident and there was no risk to public safety.

The investigation is continuing.

Kuldeep DHIMAN Charged Following Collision

(HEARST, ON) – A traffic complaint led the arrest of a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver for dangerous driving.

On July 12, 2024, shortly after 3:00 p.m., the James Bay Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call reporting an aggressive CMV driver on Highway 11 in Gill Township, west of Hearst. The CMV was reported to be passing on blind corners, causing multiple vehicles to drive onto the shoulder. Also, the CMV had sideswiped a passenger vehicle while re-entering the east bound lane, causing damage to the driver’s side mirror.

Police located and stopped the subject vehicle on Front Street in Hearst. As a result of the investigation, Kuldeep DHIMAN, 55 years of age of Edmonton, AB, was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 4, 2024 in Hearst.
