Fabrizzio COMANDARI BAIRES – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Traffic stop for stunt driving on Medway Road leads to impaired charge.

On July 15, 2024, at 12:51 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, performing a traffic safety initiative on Medway Road in Middlesex Centre, observed a vehicle squeal its tires at an intersection. The vehicle was then observed travelling well above the posted speed limit at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, Fabrizzio COMANDARI BAIRES, a 20-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed

·      Drive motor vehicle – Perform stunt

·      Young driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 9, 2024.

Tyler MACISAAC – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after traffic stop in City of London.

On July 14, 2024, at 3:00 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol, travelling through the City of London on Fanshawe Park Road East, performed a traffic stop on a vehicle.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Tyler MACISAAC, a 25-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Red light – proceed before green

·      Driver fail to surrender licence

·      Fail to have insurance card

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on September 11, 2024.

Michael HEBERT Drunk Driving

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – An individual was charged following an investigation into an impaired driving incident in Charlotteville.

At approximately 10:35 p.m. on Thursday, July 18, 2024, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment conducted a vehicle stop and investigation at a location on Lynedoch Road in Charlotteville, Norfolk County.

After evaluating the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, the individual was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 33-year-old Michael HEBERT of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, August 27, 2024.

Serious Collision Closed Intersection of Base Line and Londesboro Road

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Serious collision closes Base Line at Londesboro Road in the Municipality of Central Huron.

On July 18th, 2024, at 10:20 p.m., the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Central Huron Fire Department, and Huron County Paramedic Services responded to a report of a serious collision involving two motor vehicles at the intersection of Base Line and Londesboro Road.

Emergency responders located four injured vehicle occupants who were transported to local hospitals. One occupant was later airlifted to a London Hospital with more serious injuries.

The OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team is on scene to assist with the investigation.

Sections of Base Line and Londesboro Road remain closed for the investigation. Please avoid the area.

David KAMINSKY – Drunk Driving

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after failing roadside demand.

On July 13, 2024, at 12:52 a.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), while on general patrol on Hamilton Road in Thames Centre performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle.

It was determined the driver had previously consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was utilized. The driver was arrested and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment where further tests were administered.

As a result, David KAMINSKY, a 34-year-old of Thames Centre, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

Jean Anne WHIFFIN – Impaired Driving

(SOUTH PORCUPINE, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired while police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) program.

On July 12, 2024, shortly after 10:30 p.m., members of the Iroquois Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting a RIDE program at the intersection of Highway 101 and Municipal Road in German Township.

As a result, Jean Anne WHIFFIN, 63 years-old, of Oshawa was arrested and charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and their vehicle was impounded

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 29, 2024, in Timmins.

The OPP remains committed to ensuring Ontario roads are safe from drug-impaired and alcohol-impaired drivers.

Shayne HAYNER Was Arrested

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON)– Erratic driver on Highway 108 arrested.

On July 18, 2024, shortly after 6:15 p.m., the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to multiple traffic complaints of a possible impaired driver that was operating a pick-up truck and driving erratically and was unable to maintain its lane and speed on Highway 108 in the City of Elliot Lake.

Members of the public reported the suspect vehicle had stopped on the Highway, did a burn out and had almost ditched the pick-up truck several times.

Shortly after 6:45 p.m., police located the parked pick-up truck on Highway 108 near Depot Lake. Police spoke to the driver and determined alcohol had been consumed. A subsequent arrest was made, and the driver was transported to Blind River detachment for further testing. While at detachment the driver refused to provide a breath sample.

Police received another call for service related to the driver who earlier had stolen a puppy and several bottles of alcoholic beverages from this complainant’s residence. Once the driver was processed the puppy was returned to the owner in good health.

As a result, Shayne HAYNER, 29 years-of-age from Bruce Mines was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired-alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Failure or Refusal to comply with demand
  • Theft under $5000 (two counts)
  • Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on August 14, 2024.

The pick-up truck was towed and impounded for seven days with the driver being issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension.

Martin JAMES – Drunk Driving

(COCHRANE, ON) – One person has been charged with impaired operation following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) initiative in Cochrane.

On July 13, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m., members from the James Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle while conducting a RIDE initiative on Genier Road. The driver was arrested and transported to the Cochrane Detachment for further testing. 

As a result of the investigation, Martin JAMES, aged 53 of Cochrane, has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The investigation revealed that the accused is a Sergeant with the OPP with 26 years of service, currently off on unrelated leave. He is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cochrane on August 13, 2024.

Christopher DAYMAN Was Arrested

(BLUEWATER, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident with a criminal driving offence following a report of a road-rage traffic complaint in the Municipality of Bluewater on July 1st, 2024. 

At approximately 10:15 p.m. on Monday, July 1st, Huron County OPP received a report of an incident that occurred on Staffa Road in Bluewater. The complainant described the suspect vehicle, driver, and provided the licence plate for the vehicle. Police attended the vehicle owner’s address and located the suspect vehicle. In speaking to the suspected driver, the officer believed the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and demanded a breath sample. The driver refused to provide the required breath sample and was arrested for refusal.

Christopher DAYMAN, 52 years-of-age from Bluewater has been charged with:

–      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 12th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

James BROOME Was Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with several offences following a traffic stop south of Goderich on June 24th, 2024. 

At approximately 10:10 p.m. on Monday, June 24th, a Huron County OPP officer observed a vehicle travelling on Bluewater Highway and conducted a traffic stop for a Highway Traffic Act violation. In speaking to the driver, the officer believed the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and demanded a breath sample. The driver provided a roadside breath sample, which resulted in a “failure”. The driver was then arrested for impaired operation and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests.

The accused then refused to provide the further required breath samples once at detachment.  

James BROOME, 65 years-of-age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand.

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. The accused’ driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days.

The accused was later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 29th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Anthony BABOOLALL – Drunk Driving

(CALEDON, ON) – Officers from the Caledon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducts a traffic stop and charges the driver with impaired operation.

On July 11, 2024, shortly after 9:00 p.m., an officer on patrol on Kennedy Road in the community of Southfields Village conducted a traffic stop due to the manner a vehicle was being operated. During the investigation, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol and was subsequently arrested.

As a result, Anthony BABOOLALL, 35, of Caledon, was charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Drive left of centre – approaching crest of grade

• Pass – roadway not clear – approaching traffic

• Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on August 1, 2024, to answer to the charges. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Colton HIGGINS Was Arrested

(PETAWAWA, ON) – An individual from Petawawa is facing several Criminal Code (CC) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) charges after members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recently investigated an altercation involving two drivers.

On July 15, 2024, at approximately 11:00 p.m., police were called to investigate after an altercation took place between the driver of a pickup truck and an ATV driver in Petawawa. The truck was kicked and damaged during the incident. Police located the driver of the ATV and took them into custody.

As a result of this investigation 27-year-old Colton HIGGINS of Petawawa is charged with the following CC and HTA offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code – two counts
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Possess licence while prohibited

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on August 6, 2024, and the ATV was towed and impounded for 45 days.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – Cocaine, methamphetamine and a firearm were seized as a result of an investigation and execution of a warrant in Kirkland Lake.

On July 16, 2024, shortly after 7:30 p.m, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 112 in Pacaud Township. As a result, the driver of the vehicle was arrested and a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of drugs.

The OPP Northeast Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with the assistance of the Kirkland Lake/South Porcupine Criminal Investigation Unit (CIU) and the North Bay Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) authored and executed a search warrant at a residence on Tweedsmuir Road in Kirkland Lake. During the execution of the search warrant, police seized drugs suspected to be cocaine and methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia and a loaded handgun. The total estimated street value of the seizure was $130,000.00.

As a result of the investigation, Emily CRAWFORD, 31 years-of-age of Kirkland Lake, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking (two counts)
  • Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

Further, Tyler GODIN-BLAKE, 30 years-of-age of Kirkland Lake, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Unauthorized possession of a restricted firearm
  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a loaded restricted firearm

Both accused persons were held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 17, 2024.

FOXTON – Drunk Driving, Hit & Run

(ORILLIA, ON) – Officers from the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a male party following an early morning fail to remain collision with impaired and highway traffic act offences.

At 6:00 a.m., on July 18, 2024, Orillia OPP responded to a call for a motor vehicle striking a light post in the area of Memorial Ave and Dunedin St in the City of Orillia. Police were advised the vehicle had sustained extensive damage and did not remain at the scene.

With assistance from the community, and police investigation, police were able to locate the involved vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, officers noted numerous signs of being impaired.

As a result of this investigation, Donald FOXTON, 72-year-old of the City of Orillia has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired- alcohol, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  • Fail to remain contrary to section 200(1)(a) of the Highway Traffic Act
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance contrary to section 2(1)(a) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date August 2024. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and vehicle was impounded for a period of 7 days.

Douglas BEST – Assault

(PERTH, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an incident at a Perth pub which resulted in one person being taken to hospital.

Officers responded to the location on Foster Street around 12:45 a.m. this morning (July 18, 2024), where a large group of people was gathered outside, and one male was found lying on the ground.

The injured 33-year-old male was transported to hospital by Lanark County Paramedic Service with non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Douglas BEST, age 58 of Tay Valley Township, was charged with assault.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on August 12, 2024.

Another person, arrested at the scene for interfering with the investigation, was released without charges.

The investigation is continuing.
