Tristian MCCOLL Was Arrested Again

(BANCROFT, ON) – Members of the Bancroft Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a person after a motorcycle fled from police.

On August 12, shortly after 7:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop a motorcycle that had no licence plate. The motorcycle fled from police. The investigation resulted in one person being arrested a short time later.

Tristian MCCOLL, a 23-year-old from Bancroft has been charged with five provincial offences and the following Criminal Code offences:

– Flight from peace officer;

– Dangerous operation;

– Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code; Two counts

– Fail to Comply with Probation Order; and

– Possession of a Schedule III Substance.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 13, 2024, in relation to the criminal charges.

Peter LEGALLIS – Impaired Driving

(MIDLAND,ON) – The driving actions of a south bound Ford F-150 with Ontario plate PJLEG on Main Street Penetanguishene at the Poyntz Street traffic lights near 5:20 p.m. August 8, 2024, caught the eye of a patrol officer from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment. leading into a stunt driving investigation.

The officer stopped the vehicle nearby and spoke with the driver of the vehicle and caused the officer to further enter into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of these investigations, Peter LEGALLIS 45 years of Penetanguishene has been charged criminally with the following.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

and further with

  • Drive motor vehicle – Perform Stunt contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 22, 2024, was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Garikayi Emmanuel MAHENDE – Drunk Driving

(MIDLAND,ON) – An early morning south bound Highway 400 vehicle made an unscheduled stop after a passenger of the vehicle got into a dispute with the driver and called police.

Officers from Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched at 1:30 a.m. August 11, 2024 and located the vehicle in a gas station parking lot off Quarry Road In Tay Township. The driver was spoken to by officers who then entered into a drinking and driving investigation resulting in Garikayi Emmanuel MAHENDE 42 years of Sudbury being charged criminally with

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on August 15, 2024 was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for 7 days in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Eric GIARD Was Arrested

(LENNOX AND ADDINGTON COUNTY, ON) – The Lennox and Addington (L&A) County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with multiple offences.

On August 10, 2024, just after 11:00 p.m., an officer was patrolling on Highway 401 westbound near Belleville, when they observed a vehicle approaching from the rear at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was conducted, and the driver was subsequently arrested and transported to detachment for further testing. As part of the investigation, a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) officer was utilized.  

As a result, Eric GIARD, age 32, of Sainte-Croix, Quebec was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • Dangerous operation
  • Possession of a schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

2 More Drivers Arrested

(NORTHUMBERLAND, ON) – The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two drivers in unrelated incidents over the weekend.

On August 9, 2024, at approximately 5:45 p.m., police were on patrol on Bridge Street in Hastings when an officer received an from the cruiser Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) regarding a passenger vehicle travelling in the same direction.

Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was confirmed to be suspended. Further investigation revealed that the driver failed to comply with a release order in communicating with a passenger.

As a result, Jason PETERS, 52-years-old, from the Municipality of Trent Hills, was arrested and charged with:

–      Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

–      Failure to comply with undertaking

–      Driving while under suspension.

The accused was held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

On August 10, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m., OPP along with Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and the Township of Hamilton Fire Department responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 45 in Hamilton Township. Police arrived on the scene where a passenger vehicle was in the ditch and both occupants were being treated by EMS for minor injuries. The driver was transported to a local hospital as a precaution.

Elizabeth HARVEY, 21-years-old, of Cobourg, was arrested and charged with:

–      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg, to answer to their charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(DUFFERIN, COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) work extremely hard to keep the roads safe in Dufferin County. Officers removed and charged three drivers with impaired operation related charges.

On August 11, 2024, at approximately 5:00 a.m., a Dufferin OPP officer responded to a call for service involving a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Elizabeth Street in the Town of Orangeville. The officer located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop at which time they were led into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Fairley BAIRD, 37-year-old female, from Orangeville has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

On August 11, 2024, at approximately 2:40 a.m., a Dufferin OPP officer was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 10 at 5 Sideroad in the Township of Melancthon. The officer conducted a traffic stop and was led into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Bailey LEPAGE, 25-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·      Take motor vehicle without consent

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order

On August 9, 2024, at approximately 4:50 p.m., a Dufferin OPP officer responded to a single motor vehicle collision on 4th Line in the Township of Melancthon. The officer was led into an impaired driving investigation.

As a result, Robert LAYES, 47-year-old male, from Barrie has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused individuals are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville, to answer to their charges. Their driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for 7 days.

Andrew ELOFSON – Drunk Driving

(DRYDEN, ON) – Members of the Dryden Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation. 

On August 12, 2024, at approximately 2:30 a.m. members of the Dryden OPP Detachment conducted a traffic stop on Duke Street in the City of Dryden.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle had been impaired by alcohol/drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported to the Dryden detachment OPP Detachment for further testing.

Andrew ELOFSON, 34-years-old, of Dryden, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·         Operation while impaired by blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·         Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·         Amber light – fail to stop

·         Fail to have insurance card

·         Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on September 23, 2024.

Drug Bust – Trina Roundhead Arrested

(NORTH CARIBOU LAKE FIRST NATION) – One Individual is facing multiple charges after a routine checkpoint inspection in North Caribou Lake First Nation.

On August 12, 2024, the North Caribou Lake detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) worked in collaboration with the North Caribou Lake Checkpoint Guards to conduct a routine vehicle inspection.

The inspection, and subsequent investigation, has resulted in the arrest of one individual and the seizure of suspected illicit substances including cocaine, and pills.

Trina Roundhead, 29-years-old, of North Caribou Lake has been charged under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

Trina Roundhead was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Provincial Court on October 10, 2024.

Pedro GIL ALFAU – Drunk Driving

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged another driver with impaired operation.

On August 8th, 2024, at 7:45 p.m. police and Muskoka EMS responded to several 9-1-1 calls from members of the public reporting that a vehicle had left the roadway and landed in the ditch on Highway 118 East just west of Matthiasville Road in Bracebridge. Officers were quickly on scene and conducted an investigation into the collision and soon arrested and charged 59-year-old Pedro GIL ALFAU of Bracebridge with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on September 10, 2024, to answer to his charges.

In the province of Ontario, any driver who is charged with an impaired driving related offense will have their drivers license suspended immediately for a period of 90 days and have their vehicle impounded for a minimum of 7-days.

$30,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(GARDEN RIVER FIRST NATION, ON)- OPP initiate traffic stop resulting in drug charges.

On August 5, 2024, the Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol duties on Highway 17 within the community of Garden River First Nation.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., police observed a westbound vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. Police pursued the vehicle as it entered Sault Ste Marie City limits travelling at more than two times the posted speed limit. A subsequent traffic stop was initiated on Trunk Road with the assistance from Batchewana First Nation Police Service and officers arrested the driver and two passengers.

The OPP’s Canine Unit assisted with the vehicle search and located over $5600 of Canadian Currency, suspected cocaine, suspected fentanyl (estimated street value of over $30,000), a machete, and drug paraphernalia.

As a result, the driver Derrick DERASP, 33 years-of-age from Scarborough was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Drive motor vehicle-perform stunt-excessive speed

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Video Bail in Sault Ste Marie on August 9, 2024, and was remanded into custody.

Michelle LAPOINTE, 31 years-of-age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a schedule substance-methamphetamine
  • Failure to comply with release order-other than to attend court

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on September 23, 2024.

Aumi RIVARD, 18 years of age from Sault Ste Marie was charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Obstruct peace officer

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario court of Justice in Sault Ste Marie on September 23, 2024.

Drunk Driver With Child In Vehicle Arrested – Name Released

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – On August 10th at approximately 7:00p.m, members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of an impaired driver at the Gas station in Coboconk with a child on board. The vehicle departed the gas station before officers arrived.

Officers located the vehicle on Kirkfield road. The vehicle was stopped, and Officers entered an impaired investigation.

38-year-old, Erin Nisbett from Lindsay was arrested and charged with

·      Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Assault a peace officer

·      Driver fail to surrender licence.

Officers ensured the child’s safety.

The accused was served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines. The accused was released from custody with a future court date.

(CARLING, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

On August 10, 2024, at approximately 2:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a vehicle driving all over the road on Highway 400 in Carling Township. The vehicle was located and stopped, officers spoke with the driver and initiated an impaired driving investigation.

As a result of the investigation, Carolyn KEENAN, 60 years-of-age of Toronto Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 5, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

(WHITESTONE, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

On August 11, 2024, at approximately 11:30 a.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a single ATV collision on Bunny Trail in Whitestone Township.

As a result of the investigation, Jason GRAY, 53 years-of-age of Mount Albert Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 19, 2024. The accused was also issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Trevor WHITTAKER Was Arrested Again

(MCDOUGALL, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with the assistance of OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and OPP Aviation Services have arrested and charged a person with multiple offences following a search in McDougall Township.

On August 8, 2024, at approximately 6:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person around Nobel in McDougall Township. The person fled as officers approached resulting in a search for the subject and the recovery of a stolen vehicle from southern Ontario.

As a result of the investigation, Trevor WHITTAKER, 31-years-of-age of Norfolk County was arrested and charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Fail to Comply with release order
  • Fail to Comply with Probation – two counts
  • Theft under $5000
  • Unlawfully in a Dwelling house

The accused was held for bail and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on August 15, 2024.

Jordan DOWLING – Drunk Driving

(ARRAN-ELDERSLIE, ON) – On August 9, 2024, at 11:25 p.m., South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer arrested a driver while conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) checkpoint on Bruce Road 10 in the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie.

The driver was found to have been drinking alcohol. They were placed under arrest and taken to a Qualified Breath Technician for breath tests.

Jordan DOWLING, 24-years-old, from the Municipality of Kincardine was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The driver will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date. An impaired driving charge includes an immediate 90-day driver’s licence suspension and immediate vehicle impoundment for seven days.
