Matthew Miller & Chloe Nugent – Drunk Driving

(PICTON, ON) – Despite the recent conclusion of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive Ride campaign, impaired driving continues to pose a serious risk in Prince Edward County.

The province-wide initiative, which ran from November 20, 2025, to January 1, 2026, resulted in more than 700 impaired driving arrests across Ontario, including 150 drivers charged in the East Region. Despite these efforts, since January 1, officers from the OPP Prince Edward County Detachment have charged two additional drivers with impaired driving.

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, shortly before 10:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision. Officers located the motorist, and the individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing.

Matthew Miller, age 40 of Hillier, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On Wednesday, January 14, 2026, shortly after 08:00 p.m., officers responded to another report of a motor vehicle collision. The individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing.

Chloe Nugent, age 19 of Lindsay, was charged with

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Novice Driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero

Both accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date.

The OPP reminds motorists that new impaired driving penalties took effect January 1, 2026. Drivers are urged to make safe choices and never drive impaired.

Peter NORTON Was Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – The Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) partnered with Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) officers during an investigation that led to multiple firearm-related charges.

On Sunday, December 7, 2025, shortly after 6:00 p.m., MNR officers discovered a vehicle in an area where hunting activity had been observed. A query of the licence plate revealed the registered owner was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition. Officers believed the individual was actively hunting and possibly in possession of a firearm, contrary to those conditions.

OPP and MNR officers subsequently located the individual in a hunting blind in possession of a loaded firearm.

As a result of the investigation, Peter NORTON, age 57 of Picton, was charged with:

  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville for a bail hearing.

Assault – Cameron MCINTOSH-BARTON & Ryan GODFREY

(PICTON, ON) – Three people have been charged following an assault in Picton, Ontario.

On Saturday, November 29, 2025, shortly after 6:30 p.m., the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault outside a business on Picton Main Street.

Officers identified and arrested two suspects later that evening. Both were taken into custody without incident.

Cameron MCINTOSH-BARTON, age 33 of Cherry Valley, has been charged with:

  • Mischief
  • Assault – two counts

Sidney HILTON, age 30 of Picton, has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm

As part of the investigation, it was also revealed that a knife was involved during the altercation. Subsequently, officers have charged:

Ryan GODFREY, age 27 of Belleville, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

All three accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date.

The OPP reminds residents that carrying or using edged weapons during disputes can lead to serious injuries or criminal charges. If you feel threatened or unsafe, walk away and call police immediately. Violence is never the solution.

Danielle TIFFIN Was Arrested Again #3Strikes

(PICTON, ON) – The Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a second individual in connection with the armed robbery and vehicle theft that occurred at a Picton gas station on November 22, 2025.

As part of the investigation, officers have charged:

Danielle TIFFIN, age 27 of Picton, has been charged with:

·        Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date.

Masked Gunman Arrested After Armed Robbery and Vehicle Theft at Gas Station

(PICTON, ON) – One person has been charged after an armed robbery and vehicle theft at a Picton gas station.

On Saturday, November 22, 2025, shortly before 1:30 a.m., officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported robbery at a gas station in Picton. The masked individual, allegedly armed with a handgun, fled the scene in a stolen vehicle.

Numerous resources were deployed to ensure public safety while actively searching for the individual and the vehicle involved. Coordinated efforts by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Units, Forensic Identification Services and Prince Edward County OPP Crime Unit resulted in the successful identification, and arrest, of an individual.

Dylan BARSLEY, age 22 of Picton, has been charged with:

  • Robbery using firearm (restricted or prohibited)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Disguise with intent
  • Dangerous operation
  • Flight from peace officer – two counts
  • Failure to comply with release order – two counts

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville for a bail hearing.

Cocaine & MDMA Bust – Names Released

(PICTON, ON) – Three people are facing charges after a seizure of drugs and other items in Picton.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began an investigation into drug trafficking in the area this fall.

On Wednesday, November 12, 2025, around 7:00 p.m., officers with CSCU, assisted by OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team members, the Canine Unit and Prince Edward County OPP members, executed a search warrant at a residence on Evans Street in Picton.

Three parties were taken into custody. Officers seized over 190 grams of suspected cocaine, 12 grams of suspected ecstasy (MDMA), and over $15,000 in cash. They also seized items associated with drug trafficking and approximately $20,000 worth of jewelry.

Trevor HENNESSY, age 40 of Picton, has been charged with:

  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $500
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Brianna SKUFFHAM-CONNOLLY, age 22 of Picton, has been charged with:

  • Possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts
  • Possession of prohibited device or ammunition for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $500

Brandon WANAMAKER, age 37 of Milford, has been charged with two counts of possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – two counts.

HENNESSY and SKUFFHAM-CONNOLLY were held pending a bail hearing. Wanamaker was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton at a later date.

Assaults: Cameron BUSH & Phoenix DRAPER Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – Two people have been charged with assault with a weapon after an incident in Picton.

On Saturday, November 1, 2025, around 2:15 a.m., officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported stabbing at a local residence.

Officers arrived to find three victims with non-life-threatening injuries. Another individual reported they were threatened with a knife.

Officers recovered a weapon at the scene, and two individuals were arrested.

Phoenix DRAPER, age 23 of Belleville, has been charged with:

  • Assault
  • Uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm
  • Assault with a weapon – two counts
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Unlawfully in a dwelling
  • Fail to comply with probation order

Cameron BUSH, age 24 of Belleville, has been charged with:

  • Assault with a weapon – two counts
  • Assault causing bodily harm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

Both accused remain in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

James MAW – Drunk Driving

(PICTON, ON) – Officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged their sixth impaired driver for the month of October.

On Thursday, October 30, 2025, around 3:00 a.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program in Picton, when a motorist approached officers.

An approved roadside alcohol screening device was utilized. As a result, the individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

James MAW, age 33 of Picton, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on November 26, 2025.The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The OPP is committed to removing impaired drivers from local roadways and motorists can expect to see additional RIDE programs as holiday season approaches.

Stephen STAINES – Drunk Driving

(PICTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges in an impaired-driving investigation.

On Saturday, October 25, 2025, at around 10:45 p.m., officers from the OPP Prince Edward County Detachment responded to a report of a possible impaired driver leaving an establishment on Picton Main Street. 

Officers located the motorist, and the individual was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing.

Stephen STAINES, age 31 of Wellington, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on November 12, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Hit & Run – Sean KENNEDY Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – Impaired driving charges have been laid following a multi-vehicle collision in Picton.

On Saturday, June 7, 2025, shortly before 5:00 p.m., officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision on Picton Main Street. Three vehicles had been involved. One vehicle left the scene, but it’s bumper and licence plate were left behind. No injuries were reported.

Officers located the outstanding mini-van and then tracked down the individual who had been driving. The individual was arrested for failing to remain at the scene of a collision, and an approved roadside alcohol screening devise was utilized. The male was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Sean KENNEDY, age 31 of Deseronto, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • Fail to remain at the scene of a collision

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 25, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and their vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Jordan LEWIS Was Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – An individual’s attempt to avoid a RIDE program in Picton didn’t keep OPP officers from making an arrest for impaired operation.

On Monday, May 26, 2025, just before midnight, officers with the Prince Edward County Detachment were conducting a RIDE program on Bridge Street when they saw an e-bike turn in an apparent attempt to avoid the RIDE. Officers located the e-bike in the area, along with the operator and a passenger.

An approved roadside alcohol screening device was utilized, and the operator was transported to the detachment for further testing.

Jordan LEWIS, age 29 of no fixed address, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Having liquor in an open container in an unauthorized place

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 11, 2025, on these charges. The accused was held in custody due to other outstanding warrants elsewhere in the region.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for an additional 90 days and the e-bike was impounded for seven days.

Jeffrey HOUNSELL – Impaired Operation

(PICTON, ON) – A traffic stop in downtown Picton has resulted in impaired driving charges.

On Saturday, May 24, 2025, shortly before 11:00 p.m., an officer with the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle driving erratically. The officer stopped the vehicle on Main Street an conducted a roadside test with an approved alcohol screening device. The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for further testing.

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

(PICTON, ON) – A suspicious vehicle has led to impaired driving charges in Picton.

Riley HICKS Was Arrested

(PICTON, ON) – A noisy engine attracted attention from an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer in Bloomfield.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, around 2:30 a.m., an officer with the Prince Edward County Detachment was monitoring for traffic issues when she heard a loud dirt bike in the area, followed by an unusual sound and then silence.

The officer located the bike and rider on the sidewalk near the intersection of Bloomfield Main and Stanley Street. Both the bike and the rider’s helmet showed signs of damage. A signpost nearby was also damaged.

The individual indicated he was not injured and was then arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for testing. He was later taken to hospital as a precaution.

Riley HICKS, age 24 of Prince Edward County, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operate a vehicle without insurance – two counts

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on June 4, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and the dirt bike was impounded for seven days.

Keith VAN DAM Wanted By Police

(PICTON, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit has arrested one person and is searching for another, after a restaurant break-in in Picton.

The incident was reported on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. Someone had entered the business on Main Street sometime overnight and made-off with a large quantity of alcohol.

As a result of the investigation one individual has been arrested by members of the Street Crime Unit and Prince Eward County Detachment, assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit.

Lucas BOUDREAU, age 29 of Picton, has been charged with:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence
  • Theft under $5000

This accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on March 19, 2025.

An arrest warrant has been issued for Keith VAN DAM, age 37 of Prince Edward County, on charges of:

  • Break and enter to commit an indictable offence
  • Theft under $5000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
