3 Arrested In Drug Bust

(ORILLIA, ON) – An investigation led by the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Orillia Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has resulted in the arrest of three individuals and a quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, hydromorphone pills and Canadian and American currency.

On May 14, 2025, at approximately 9:00 pm, members of the Orillia CSCU, Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) including the Canine Unit, as well as Central Region Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU) assisted in executing a search warrant at an address on West Street South in the City of Orillia.

As a result of the investigation, three people were arrested and face numerous Criminal and Controlled Drugs and Substances related charges.

Dorthy DARES, 50-year-old of Orillia, was charged with:

–       Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition (CC),

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (CDSA), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid x2 (CDSA)

Daniel MCMANUS, 29-year-old of Orillia, was charged with:

–       Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition (CC),

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (CDSA), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid x2 (CDSA)

Trent VOLLICK, 24-year-old of No Fixed Address, was charged with:

–       Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition x2 (CC),

–       Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order x2 (CC),

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (CDSA), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid x2 (CDSA)

All three individuals were held in custody for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia the following day.

Over 300 grams of Cocaine, over 120 grams of Fentanyl, over 450 pills of Hydromorphone, and over $4000 of Canadian currency, along with drug trafficking paraphernalia and prohibited weapons were seized as part of the investigation, as shown in the attached photo.

Robert FELTS Was Arrested Again, Break & Enter, Theft, Etc. #3Strikes

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person after an early morning call for service of a suspicious person possibly armed with a weapon.

On May 15, 2025, just after 8:30 am, officers of the Orillia OPP were dispatched to a call for service of a person walking on West Street South in the City of Orillia possibly armed with a weapon. Numerous officers attended the area and located the suspect where they were quickly taken into custody without incident. Through investigation, it was learned the suspect allegedly broke into a nearby garage and had taken items prior to their arrest, before being confronted by the homeowner.

As a result of the investigation, Robert FELTS, 44-years-old of Orillia, was charged with the following:

–       Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose (CC),

–       Break and Enter (CC),

–       Mischief Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Theft Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Resist Peace Officer (CC),

–       Fail to Comply with Release Order x2 (CC), and

–       Being Intoxicated n a Public Place (LLCA).

The accused was held in custody on May 15th, 2025, to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia for a bail hearing.

AI Used By OPP To Detect Criminals – More Arrests

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged three individuals with weapon and drug related charges after a traffic stop.

On May 8, 2025, just before 2:00 pm, an officer from the Orillia OPP was conducting traffic enforcement on Highway 12 in the Township of Ramara, when they were alerted to a possible traffic infraction while operating a cruiser equipped with an Automated Licence Plate Reader (ALPR). The officer received a notification that an Ontario licence plate was showing “Missing.” Subsequently, a traffic stop was conducted.

The driver of the motor vehicle was found to have outstanding Warrants from out of province. The driver was arrested, and the officer entered into a Criminal Investigation. During a search of the accused and the surrounding area of the vehicle, the officer located a quantity of Methamphetamine. The additional two passengers of the motor vehicle, as well as the driver, were arrested as well under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. Further search of the vehicle located replica firearms, as well as other drug paraphernalia.

The three arrested parties were transported to the Orillia OPP Detachment so the investigation could continue. As a result, three parties were charged with the following offences:

Daniel RENAUD, 34-year-old of Bowmanville, was charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (CC) (x6),

–       Failure to Comply with Prohibition Order (CC),

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance (CDSA) (x3), and

–       Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking (CDSA)

Renaud was held in custody to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia the following day.

Cleveland JOHNSTON, 53-year-old of Bowmanville, was charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC),

–       Fail to Comply with Probation Order (CC), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance (CDSA) (x3)

Johnston was held in custody to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia the following day.

Emma GROVES-MCMILLEN, 21-year-old of Clarington, was charged with:

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 (CC),

–       Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 (CC), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance (CDSA) (x2)

Groves-McMillen was released from custody and is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia at a later date.

Additionally, numerous credit cards, Canadian currency, as well as Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Cocaine were seized as part of the investigation.

2X Legal Limit On Hwy 11 – Philip MARTIN Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 Northbound in the City of Orillia. Further investigation led to impaired driving related offences.

On May 10, 2025, at approximately 9:20 p.m., officers from the Orillia detachment of the OPP were dispatched to a traffic complaint on Highway 11 Northbound, in the City of Orillia. Officers located the vehicle in Severn Township continuing northbound on Highway 11. While on scene officers were led into an impaired driving investigation where one individual was charged with impaired related charges. After administering a breath sample that registered more than double the legal limit. The individuals licence was suspended for 90-days and the vehicle was impounded for seven (7) days.  

As a result, Philip MARTIN; 62-year-old, from Ramara Township, ON. has been subsequently charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – 80 plus

Cocaine At Courthouse Leads To Charges

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), assisted by the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and the Orillia Community Mobilization Unit (CMU), have laid drug trafficking charges after an individual attended the Ontario Court of Justice for an appointment.

On May 1, 2025, around 1:00 pm, officers of the Orillia OPP were working at the Ontario Court of Justice on Memorial Avenue in the City of Orillia. As they were assisting with court security, they noted an individual who had set off the metal detector near the doors. Officers engaged with the party and noticed an object in their jacket pocket which they had refused to take out. Police were able to observe the object and saw a clear bag with a large amount of a pressed white substance and commenced into a drug trafficking investigation.

As a result, almost 65 grams of suspected Cocaine and over $3,500 were seized from the accused, Joseph CRANDALL, aged 43, of Orillia, and they face the following charges:

–       Resist Peace Officer (CC), and

–       Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine (CDSA).

The accused was held in custody to appear at in the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia the following day for a bail hearing.

$1.8 Million Fraud Investigation – Kevin DOUSE Arrested

(CITY OF ORILLIA, ON)- Members of the OPP Orillia Major Crime Unit, have arrested a local financial advisor from Orillia, Ontario. The individual is charged with Defraud the Public and eleven counts of Uttering a Forged Document contrary to the Criminal Code.

The 16 -month investigation concluded with the arrest of Kevin DOUSE. 40-year-old of the Township of Severn on April 24, 2025. 

He will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on June 10, 2025, in Orillia, Ontario to answer to these charges. The total sum of the misallocated funds suspected to be over $1.8 million.

It is alleged the local registered financial advisor, defrauded some of his clients by requesting his clients provide the intended investment funds by way of cheque made payable to himself personally instead of making the cheque directly payable to the investment company. Moreover, in certain instances, it is alleged the accused falsified and forged investment and insurance paperwork to hide the misallocation of his victims’ funds. There are also further alleged fraudulent acts by DOUSE on members of the public while he was working as a financial advisor.

Investigating officer Detective Constable Rogan of the Orillia Crime Unit said, “It is essential to confirm that your investment funds are being directed into the products you intended. This means regularly reviewing your investment statements-whether by mail or through your secure online investment portal-and by keeping track of all transactions.” 

In many cases, particularly with vulnerable individuals, fraud can go undetected. “The OPP advises that a trusted family member or person regularly reviews these online accounts, especially for those who may not be tech-savvy, and always ensure you receive detailed documentation, receipts, and clear records for every investment decision.”

Nicholas KLOC – Impaired & Dangerous Driving

(Orillia, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged an individual with impaired operation and dangerous operation.

On April 24, 2025, at approximately 1:55 p.m., Orlllia OPP and Orillia Fire responded to a call for a motor vehicle collision in front of a Monarch Drive business. Police were advised that the vehicle had sustained extensive damage and was on fire. With assistance from an off-duty officer the driver a white pickup truck was detained until Orillia OPP arrived on scene. After further investigation police determined the driver was impaired and was arrested. 

As a result of this investigation, Nicholas KLOC, 29-year-old of Ramara Township has been charged with:

  • ·      Dangerous Operation
  • ·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date. His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Another Child Run Down

(Orillia, ON) -The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fail to remain collision that occurred in Orillia.

On Thursday April 10, 2025, at approximately 3:37 pm, a white Ford pickup truck driving at a low rate of speed, struck a child riding their bike on Penetang street in the City of Orillia. The driver of the vehicle is described as a white male, wearing a baseball hat and sunglasses with a long red beard. The vehicle left the scene heading towards West Street. The child sustained minor injuries.

Steven Gibson – Drunk Driving, Etc.

(Orillia, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a driver with impaired operation related charges.

On April 10TH, 2025 at 12:30 pm, officers were dispatched to Rama Rd for a possible impaired motorist. Police received information from a member of the public that a male party had put his all-terrain vehicle into a ditch and was exhibiting several signs of impairment, including a strong smell of alcohol. Police arrived on scene shortly thereafter and entered into an impaired investigation, quickly determining the driver to be impaired. The accused was arrested and transported back to the Orillia Detachment for further testing. Additionally, it was found the accused had previous conviction for Impaired Related offences and was a Prohibited Driver.

 Steven Gibson 41-year-old of Ramara Township was charged with the following:

Adult Operation while impaired – Alcohol and drugs

Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Adult Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

Adult Drive motor vehicle, no plates

Adult Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing on April 11th, 2025.

Wayne MCLEOD Was Arrested

(Orillia, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a driver with impaired operation related charges.

On April 2nd, 2025 at 1:45 pm, officers were dispatched to the area of Peter and North St. about a possible impaired driver. Police received information from a member of the public that a male party entered a local business and asked for directions while exhibiting several signs of impairment, including a strong smell of alcohol. Shortly after police located the male driving a vehicle that was observed leaving the business. A traffic stop was conducted, and police quickly determined the driver to be impaired.

 Wayne MCLEOD 53-year-old of Severn Township was charged with the following:

Adult Operation while impaired – Alcohol and drugs

Adult Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Adult Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

Drug Bust – Jesse BARWELL Arrested

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid drug trafficking related charges and seized a quantity of illicit drugs, after executing a search warrant in Barrie.

In February of 2025, Orillia CSCU began investigating an individual who was allegedly trafficking drugs throughout Simcoe County. Police were able to utilize investigative techniques and confirm this information.

On April 2nd, 2025, satisfied with the information gathered, the Orillia CSCU with assistance from Collingwood/Huronia West CSCU executed a search warrant at a Meadow Lane address in Barrie. One person was arrested and safely brought into police custody

As a result of the investigation, the following was seized:

133 grams – Cocaine

701 grams – Cutting agent

$1380 Canadian Currency

6 cellular devices

Rolex and Cartier Watches (proceeds of crime)

Other indicia of trafficking

Jesse BARWELL, 25-year-old of Barrie, has been charged with:

Adult Poss of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

Adult Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

The accused was released with a future court date.

Aubrey COTTLE Was Arrested – Details Released

(ORILLIA, ON) – An Oshawa resident is facing charges under the Criminal Code (CC) following an investigation by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Cybercrime Investigations Team (CIT). 

As a result of the investigation, Aubrey COTTLE, age 37 of Oshawa, has been charged with the following CC offences:

  • Mischief to computer data
  • Unauthorized use of a computer
  • Possession of a device to obtain unauthorized use of a computer

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Oshawa on March 31, 2025.

A publication ban has been issued and as a result, the OPP will not be able to release further information.

Investment Fraud – Douglas Grozelle, Crystal Masterson & Jonathan Williams

(ORILLIA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Anti-Rackets Branch (ARB) has charged three people in connection with a complex, multi-jurisdictional investment fraud scheme.

 On February 10, 2023, members of the OPP ARB initiated an investigation after receiving allegations of financial fraud related to the scheme.

 As a result of the investigation, three people have been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code.

Douglas Grozelle, age 49, of Burlington, Ontario has been charged with:

  • Fraud over $5,000 x2

 Jonathan Williams, Age 41, of Beamsville, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Fraud over $5,000

 Crystal Masterson, age 40, of Burlington, Ontario, has been charged with:

  • Fraud over $5,000

The accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Hamilton.

More Impaired Drivers

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Laclie Street in the City of Orillia. Further investigation led to impaired driving related offences.

On March 29, 2025, at approximately 11:17 a.m., officers from the Orillia detachment of the OPP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Laclie Street, in the City of Orillia. After arriving on scene officers were led into an impaired driving investigation where one individual was charged with impaired related charges after administering a breath sample that registered more than five (5) times the legal limit.  

As a result, Lauren KNEZACEK; 26-year-old, from Springwater, ON. has been subsequently charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – 80 plus
  • Dangerous Operation

Furthermore, at approximately 1:49 p.m., officers from the Orillia detachment of the OPP were dispatched to another unrelated motor vehicle collision on New Brailey Line, in the Township of Severn. After arriving on scene officers were again led into an impaired driving investigation where one individual was charged with impaired related charges. 

As a result, Brian MEDEIROS; 26-year-old, from Wasaga Beach, ON. has been subsequently charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – 80 plus

Douglas VROOM – Drunk Driving

(Orillia, ON) – The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a driver with impaired operation related charges.

On March 27, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m, officers from Orillia OPP were conducting Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) on a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) on Bass Lake Side Road at Line 6 in Oro-Medonte. While screening all drivers that enter the RIDE, police encountered one driver that provided a Fail on a Approved Screening Device (ASD).

As a result, Douglas VROOM, 54-years-old, from Coldwater, ON has been charged with:

Operation while impaired-alcohol blood concentration (80 plus) contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in April 2025. As a result of these charges, his driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.
