Drunk Driver On Hwy 21 Arrested – CALDWELL

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A Bluewater resident is facing Impaired Operation and Speeding charges following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) earlier this week.

On June 1, 2021, at approximately 10:44 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was conducting RADAR enforcement south of Saint Joseph when the officer spotted a pickup truck travelling southbound on Bluewater Veteran’s Highway (Highway 21) at a high rate of speed. The driver was subsequently stopped for speeding and while speaking with the driver the officer noted the driver had consumed some alcohol. A roadside test was conducted and the driver registered a fail. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and was transported to the Huron OPP Detachment for breath tests. Two breath samples were analyzed by the qualified Intoxilizer Technician and both were found to be above the legal limit.

Jake CALDWELL, 24 years of age from Bluewater has been charged with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 Plus & Speeding. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for July 12, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich. The accused’s licence was automatically suspended for 90 days and the vehicle has been impounded for a week.

Drunk Driver From Lucan Caught Speeding

(Middlesex Centre, ON) – On May 31, 2021, members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police were performing traffic enforcement on Elginfield Road, Lucan-Biddulph Township. At 7:01 p.m., a motorcycle was observed travelling in excess of 50km/h over the posted speed limit.

As a result, Robert YOUNG, a 45-year-old of Lucan-Biddulph, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  •  Race a motor vehicle – Excessive Speed, section 172(1) of the Highway traffic Act
  •  Use plate not authorized for vehicle, section 12(1)(d) of the Highway Traffic Act
  •  Fail to surrender insurance card, section 3(1) of the Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on June 24, 2021 to speak to the charges.

HWY 21 Speeder Has Vehicle Impounded

(GEORGIAN BLUFFS, ON) On May 27, 2021 at approximately 8:00 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting patrols, when an officer observed a motor vehicle travelling in excess of the posted limit on Highway 21, near Jackson Road, in the Township of Georgian Bluffs.

Grey Bruce OPP stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 150 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Sean LAVELLE, 36-years-old of Arran-Elderslie,with Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, along with a seven-day driver’s licence suspension. The individual’s vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

NEWMAN – Drunk Driving Collision

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On Monday, May 24, 2021 at 11:58 a.m., members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on Substation Road in Oxford County.

As a result of investigation, the driver of the vehicle was taken into custody without incident.

Police have charged 56-year-old, Michele NEWMAN, from Oxford County, Ontario with the following offences:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Woodstock, Ontario at a later date.

$50,000 In Stolen Property Recovered

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On May 18, 2021, members of Lambton County Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) paired up with members of Stratford Police Street Crime Unit to execute a search warrant on Main Street, Thedford. The search warrant was the result of an investigation which initiated in the Stratford area.

Officers seized multiple items of stolen property with an estimated value of $50,000.   

A total of 21 charges have been laid against 3 individuals.

Donna HAHN-BRASSBELL, 62-years-old and Mark HAHN, 54-years-old, both of Lambton Shores have been released and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 28, 2021.

The name of the third accused will be released upon confirmed judicial process.

74 Year Old Arrested For Refusing To Blow

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 74-year-old individual with multiple offences in Walpole.

On Monday May 24, 2021 at 11:57 a.m., police were conducting speed enforcement in the area of Highway 6 and Concession 5, when officers initiated a traffic stop.

74-year-old Constance LUCIER of Burlington, ON is charged with:

  • Failure or refusal to comply with breath demand
  • Drive motor vehicle not equipped with ignition interlock ignition
  • Speeding

The individual had their driver’s licence suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded.

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

(PETROLIA, ON) –  Over this year’s May long weekend members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged six drivers with impaired operation in Plympton-Wyoming, Warwick and Lambton Shores Townships.

Graham PERCIVAL, 37-years-old of Sarnia, has been charged with

Alayna MOLITOR, 29-year-old of Sarnia, has been charged with

Tyler GIBSON, 23-years-old of Middlesex Centre, has been charged with

Matthew WERDEN, 34-years-old of Watford, has been charged with

44,000lbs Of Beef On Fire Closed Portion Of 401

(CHATHAM-KENT, ON) – On May 20, 2021 at approximately 4:50 a.m., Chatham-Kent Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with Chatham-Kent Fire & Emergency Services responded to a vehicle fire on Highway 401 eastbound near the 70 kilometer marker between Queen’s Line Road and Bloomfield Road in Chatham-Kent.

A tractor trailer loaded with 44,000lbs of beef became fully engulfed, the driver managed to disconnect his truck from the trailer. The driver was not injured. 

The eastbound lanes of Highway 401 are expected to be closed for several hours for vehicle removal and clean up. Eastbound traffic will be forced to exit at Queen’s Line Road.

Skylar WILLIAMS Arrested On Outstanding Warrants

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On Wednesday May 19, 2021, an accused individual, facing charges in relation to the McKenzie Meadows residential development site and demonstrations in Caledonia, Haldimand County, attended the Haldimand County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment where two outstanding warrants were executed.

The OPP has charged 37-year-old Skylar WILLIAMS of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation, Ontario with:

  • Mischief (two counts)
  • Disobeying Order of Court (two counts)
  • Intimidation
  • Fail to Comply with an Undertaking 

The accused was arrested, served documents, released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

SCHIESTEL Has Vehicle Impounded – 140 in an 80

(CARRICK TWP, ON) – On May 18, 2021 at 7:59 p.m., a member of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) on patrol along Huron-Bruce Road in Carrick Township noticed a vehicle moving at a high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was displayed on radar at more than 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Ryan SCHIESTEL, 19-years-old, of Carrick Township was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle.

This charge includes an immediate 7-day vehicle impoundment and an immediate 7-day license suspension.

Repeat Offender Arrested After Aggravated Assault

(LAMBTON SHORES, ON) – On May 18, 2021 at 10:15 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an assault with a weapon that had occurred earlier in the evening at a residence in Lambton Shores.

The investigation revealed that the victim had driven themselves to hospital following an altercation. The victim suffered non-life threatening injuries.

Jerica SMITH, 35-years-old of London, is charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Assault with a Weapon (two counts).
  • Utter Threats.
  • Fail to comply with release order (three counts).

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Robert DEW – Impaired Driving

(ENNISKILLEN, ON) – On May 16, 2021 at approximately 6:00 a.m. members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding a suspicious vehicle on Rokeby Line, Enniskillen Township.

Lambton OPP members attended the area and subsequently took the driver into custody.

Robert DEW, 25-years-old of Lambton Shores, has been charged with Operation While Impaired pursuant to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia at a later date.

James Bertley MITCHELL – Impaired Driving, Vehicle Theft, etc. etc.

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Thursday, May 13, 2021, at approximately 4:20 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment, Norfolk County Paramedic Services and Norfolk County Fire Department responded to motor vehicle collision at a Highway 24, Townsend, Norfolk County address.

It was determined that a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) was travelling southbound on Highway 24 between Concession 10 and Concession 11 of Townsend when the driver crossed over the centre line and collided with a northbound vehicle. A third vehicle also travelling northbound avoided the collision and entered the east ditch. As a result of the collision, minor injuries were reported.

The driver of the SUV, 46-year-old James Bertley MITCHELL of Norfolk County, Ontario was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code (4 counts),
  • Failure of refusal to comply with a demand,
  • Obstruct peace officer,
  • Take motor vehicle without consent,
  • Driving while under suspension, and
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe at a later date.

Sucker Gives Scammer $150,000 After Being Told They Won $800,000

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, May 7, 2021, at approximately 10:47 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a fraud after being called to a Norfolk County address.

It was determined that a local resident had been contacted through a social media platform and informed that they had won an $800,000 prize. Between January 1, 2020 and May 7, 2021, the victim forwarded approximately $150,000 in E-Transfers using a Bit-Coin website. The victim realized that this was in fact a scam and contacted police.

Scammers are increasingly using email and other online social media applications as a means of communication to target potential victims. The OPP are warning all residents to be on the lookout for unsolicited messages claiming that you have won a prize as a result of being a new account holder of any new media platform that was recently downloaded to your devices. If you receive a suspicious message from anyone claiming that you won a large sum of money or new vehicle, simply delete the message and do NOT send any money.

Members of the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit are continuing to investigate and is seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information they are being asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Brian WHITWORTH – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 32-year-old individual with impaired driving following a collision investigation on Concession 11 Walpole in Hagersville, Haldimand County, ON.

On Saturday May 8, 2021 at 1:35 p.m., OPP responded to Concession 11 Walpole for a report of a single vehicle collision.

OPP located the vehicle on its roof in the ditch where they investigated.

An individual was located a short distance away and was identified as the vehicle driver.

The individual was not injured as a result of the collision.

While speaking with the individual, signs of alcohol consumption were detected. An Approved Screening Device was utilized and the individual was taken to the Haldimand County OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of their investigation, OPP has charged 32-year-old Brian WHITWORTH of Caledonia, Haldimand County, ON with:

  • Driving a motor vehicle while impaired
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.
