6 Million Dollar “Drug” Bust

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – On June 23, 2021, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a greenhouse located in the 800 block of Seacliff Drive in the Town of Kingsville.

Provincial Joint Force Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET), members of the Essex County Detachment, OPP Essex County and OPP Lambton County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), along with members of the Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU) and OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS), seized over 3500 cannabis plants, over 640 kilograms of processed cannabis and a large quantity of marihuana production equipment.

The total value of seized cannabis and equipment is estimated to be over $6.1 million dollars.

The investigation is continuing.

7 More Arrested In Connection With Homicides

(BRANTFORD, ON) -The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in a joint investigation with Brantford Police Service, entitled “Project Grantham” under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), have arrested and charged seven additional individuals in connection with two homicides. Both homicides occurred in the City of Brantford in July 2019.

“Project Grantham,” a collaborative and cooperative investigative initiative, was created in response to the homicides of Coby “Kareem” CARTER, 22 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario, Dorothy Lynn VANEVERY, 62 years old, and Larry REYNOLDS, 64 years old, both of Brantford, Ontario.

On July 8, 2019, officers responded to a Colborne Street West address in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male. On July 18, 2019, police responded to an address on Park Road South, in the City of Brantford, and located a deceased male and a deceased female.

Throughout the investigation, “Project Grantham” uncovered vital information involving all three homicides. As a result, the Brantford Police Service and OPP arrested and charged Abdelaziz Faiz IBRAHIM, 24 years old, of Hamilton, Ontario with First Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code in connection with the death of Coby “Kareem” CARTER.

The accused is schedule to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Brantford at a later date.

The following individuals named below are each charged with two counts of First-Degree Murder, contrary to Section 235(1) of the Criminal Code, and one count of Conspiracy to Commit Murder, contrary to Section 465 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code in the deaths of Lynn VANEVERY and Larry REYNOLDS:

  • Malik MBUYI, 20 years old of Toronto,
  • Nathan HOWES, 31 years old of Brantford,
  • Dylan ALRIDGE, 24 years old of North York,
  • Terrell PHILBERT, 22 years old of York,
  • Thomy BAEZ-EUSEBIO, 23 years old of Toronto, and
  • Salloum JASSEM, 32 years old of Brant County.

All individuals remain in custody.

Investigators have determined that neither Lynn VANEVERY nor Larry REYNOLDS were the perpetrators’ intended target.

Brantford Police Service and the OPP wish to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this ongoing and active investigation.

Fatal Backhoe Incident – Name Of Deceased Released

(Township of Malahide, ON) – Elgin County OPP officers responded to a sudden death incident which occurred at approximately 11:02am on the 23rd of June, 2021 in a wooded area on the North side of Nova Scotia Line between Richmond Rd and Carter Rd. Township of Malahide.

Police, Malahide Fire and EMS responded to report that a person had become trapped between the boom and rear of a backhoe. Police investigation determined that the victim had been working in the area of the backhoe when they became pinned between the boom and one of the rear stabilizer legs of the backhoe.

The victim, a 62 year old Malahide resident, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police have identified the deceased as Richard TOBOLA of Nova Scotia Line, Township of Malahide.

A post mortem examination has been scheduled for the 24th of June, 2021.

No foul play is suspected, police continue to investigate.

Mathieu AMYOT – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF GUELPH, ON) – On June 18, 2021, at approximately 7:00 p.m., a member of Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated the driver of a pick-up truck on Victoria Road North in the City of Guelph.

As a result, Mathieu AMYOT, 30-years-old of Kitchener has been charged with Operation While Impaired – 80 Plus contrary to the Criminal Code. 

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on July 20, 2021 to answer to the charge.

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

3 Rescued From Sinking Boat

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vessel in distress off Kingsville on Lake Erie on Friday June 18, 2021 around 12:45 pm. 

The operator of the 29 foot vessel was fighting strong winds and waves and noticed that it was taking on water. The three adult occupants onboard soon realized the boat was beginning to sink, they all had their lifejackets on and ended up in the water.

A call was placed to 911 from witnesses on shore, and the OPP marine unit and the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC Trenton) were engaged. Prior to the OPP marine unit or JRCC Trenton deployed units arriving on scene a civilian vessel made its way out to the three parties and assisted with their rescue. All parties were accounted for and no injuries were sustained in the incident.

The OPP would like to remind all boaters the importance of the use of properly functioning fitted and approved lifejackets and Personal Floatation Devices (PFD’s).

Richard VAUGHAN Facing Drunk Driving Charge Following Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On Saturday June 19, 2021 at 9:45 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment, Haldimand County Fire Services and Haldimand County Paramedics responded to Reeds Road in North Cayuga for a report of a single-vehicle collision.

One individual sustained serious injuries and was transported to hospital for treatment. Another person received minor injuries.

While speaking with the driver, signs of alcohol consumption were detected. The individual was treated for his injuries in hospital and then transported to the Norfolk detachment for a breathalyzer test.

Richard VAUGHAN, 33-years-old of Hamilton is charged with:

  • Driving a motor vehicle while impaired
  • Driving a motor vehicle with more than 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood
  • Impaired driving causing bodily harm.

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charges.

Jeffery EMMONS – Impaired Driving, Etc.

(Middlesex Centre, ON) – On June 18, 2021 at 12:15 p.m., Middlesex Ontario Provincial Police, along with Middlesex-London EMS and Middlesex Centre Fire, were dispatched to the intersection of Hyde Park road and Medway Road, Middlesex Centre, for the report of a single motor vehicle collision.

After a short foot pursuit, the lone occupant in the vehicle was located and arrested, not far from the scene.

The vehicle had previously been reported stolen by the Woodstock Police Service.

Jeffery EMMONS, a 37-year-old from London has been charged with:

  •  Operation while impaired – Alcohol and Drugs, section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  •   Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code, section 320.18(1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
  •   Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000, section 355(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada (two counts)
  •   Fail to Comply with Probation Order, section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused is being held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in London on June 19, 2021.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Drive Through Golf Course

(PETROLIA, ON) – On June 17, 2021 at 7:20 p.m., members of the Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were notified of an erratic driver in the town of Petrolia who was observed driving on a closed road before making their way across the golf course.

Officers attended the area where they located the vehicle. Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage, at which time a roadside screening device was administered. The driver was arrested for impaired operation and provided two samples over the legal limit.

Jack LAANSTRA, 51-years-old of Sarnia, has been charged with

  • Operation While Impaired- Alcohol and Blood.
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).
  • Drive on closed highway (Highway Traffic Act).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Sarnia on July 26, 2021.

Pervert Alert – OPP Member Charged With Child Porn & Sexual Assault – Todd Frederick BOYLAN

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – On Friday, June 18, 2021, the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment arrested and charged 48-year-old Todd Frederick BOYLAN, Norfolk County, Ontario, a five year member of the Norfolk County OPP Auxiliary Unit.

As a result of investigation, the accused was charged with the following additional offences:

·      Sexual assault (two counts),

·      Sexual interference (two counts),

·      Voyeurism (four counts),

·      Possession of child pornography (three counts), and

·      Makes, prints, publishes or possess for the purpose of publication any child pornography (two counts).

On Thursday, May 27, 2021, members of the Norfolk County OPP Crime Unit arrested and charged the accused with eight counts of theft under $5,000.

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on June 18, 2021.

One Airlifted Following Plane Crash

(Dutton/Dunwich, ON) – Elgin County OPP, Dutton/Dunwich Fire and EMS responded to a report of a downed single engine aircraft last evening June 17th, 2021 at approximately 6:15pm in the area of Leitch St. in Dutton, ON.

Upon arrival police found that the aircraft, a Rutan, Long-EZ, Single engine piston, armature homebuilt aircraft, had gone down short of a grass landing strip and collided with the foundation of a home that was in the process of being built in a new sub division on Leitch St. in Dutton, ON.

The pilot and lone occupant, a 67 year old Dutton resident was extricated from the plane by Dutton/Dunwich Fire Services and then airlifted by Ornge to hospital with serious life altering injuries.

The Transportation Safety Board of Canada has been contacted and is the lead agency in this case. Further inquiries should be directed to the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

Nicholas POWER – Drunk Driving

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) – On June 8, 2021 at approximately 3:15 a.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to report of a suspicious person on West Road, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.  

A traffic stop was conducted and the driver was arrested and transported to the Grey Bruce OPP detachment, where further tests were administered.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Nicholas POWER, 24 years-of-age, from Northern Bruce Peninsula, Ontario with the following offences:

  • Operation of a motor vehicle while impaired by alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C above zero
  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • Novice driver fail to surrender licence

The accused’s driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

The accused must attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 22, 2021.

Neil HOSTEIN – 145 in an 80

(NORTHERN BRUCE PENINSULA, ON) On June 11, 2021 at approximately 4 p.m., Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on Highway 6, in the Municipality of Northern Bruce Peninsula.

Grey Bruce OPP stopped the vehicle after it was found to be travelling at over 145 kilometres per hour (km/h) in a posted 80 km/h speed limit zone.

Grey Bruce OPP have charged Neil HOSTEIN, 47-years-old of Guelph, ON with Stunt Driving – 50km/h or more over the posted speed limit, contrary to Section 172(1) of the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The accused was issued a provincial summons to attend court, along with a seven-day driver’s licence suspension. The individual’s vehicle was towed and will be impounded for seven days.

Fatal Collision – Name Of Deceased Released

(Township of Malahide, ON) – Elgin County OPP are investigating a single motor vehicle fatal collision which occurred on June 16th, 2021 at approximately 9:28pm on Highway #3 just West of Aylmer, ON.

At the time of the collision a passenger car was traveling eastbound on Highway #3 when the vehicle traveled off the roadway into the south ditch colliding with a tree.

Police, Malahide Fire, EMS and Ornge Air were on scene. The lone driver, a 24 year old resident of Aylmer was airlifted to hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

OPP technical traffic collision investigators attended the scene to assist with the investigation. 

Highway #3 was closed and traffic diverted until 3:30am to facilitate the investigating.

Police have identified the deceased as Drew Danielle NEUFELD, age 24 of Aylmer, ON.

Horse Dies As Result Of Collision

(MIDDLESEX, ON) – On Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 6:15 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police, Middlesex-London EMS and Southwest Middlesex Fire, were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision, involving two vehicles on Dundonald Road, between Old Airport Road and Buttonwood Drive, Southwest Middlesex Township.

As a result of the collision, a pickup truck, towing a horse trailer, rolled, resulting in the death of a horse.

The driver of the sedan was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision remains under investigation.

3 Facing Assault Charges

(LAKESHORE, ON) – Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Lakeshore detachment has charged three persons as a result of an altercation in Lakeview Park West Beach in Lakeshore.

On Sunday June 13th, 2021 at approximately 9:45 pm members of the Lakeshore Detachment of the OPP responded to a disturbance at Lakeview Park West Beach on River Street in the Municipality of Lakeshore.

Several persons became involved in an altercation which resulted in alleged assaults occurring. There were no injuries as a result of the assault.

As a result of the Police investigation three persons were identified and are now facing the following charges:

 Jason GREENWOOD a 43-year-old resident of Tecumseh, On

·        Assault x5

 Kimberley GREENWOOD a 35-year-old resident of Tecumseh, On

·        Assault x4

 Ernest REID a 35-year-old resident of London, On

·        Assault x2

 All three were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Windsor at a later date to answer to the charges.
