Transport Trucks Collide

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) continues to investigate a crash between two transport trucks that has taken place north of Wartburg. 

At approximately 11:35 a.m. Perth East Fire Department and Perth County OPP officers responded to a collision involving two transport trucks located at the intersection of Perth Line 44 and Perth Road 135.

One of the transport drivers was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. 

This intersection is expected to be closed for an extended period of time for necessary repairs and cleanup.

Line 44 is currently closed between Perth Road 130 and Perth Road 140.

Violent Home Invasion In Seaforth – PARKER, KENNEDY & ELLIOTT Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three Hensall residents following a home invasion that took place in Seaforth this past weekend.

On Saturday, November 27, 2021 at approximately 7:15 p.m. an adult victim attended the OPP office in Seaforth to report a home invasion that had just taken place at a residence located on Main Street in Seaforth. 

The subsequent investigation revealed three individuals attended the victim’s residence, forced their way inside and proceeded to assault the victim and a friend. Further, the accused stole a quantity of cash and fled the residence. 

Investigators were able to identify the accused and they were all arrested and taken into custody.   

Hensall residents Brett PARKER, 30 years of age; Luke KENNEDY, 30 years of age and Jessica ELLIOTT 25 years of age are all facing the following charges:

·        Break, Enter Dwelling House – Commit Indictable Offence

·        Unlawfully in Dwelling House

·        Robbery with Violence

·        Forcible Confinement

·        Assault Causing Bodily Harm

·        Assault Cause Bodily Harm – Choke

·        Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke Another Person

All three accused remain in custody with upcoming court dates.

DESMOULIN – Drunk Driving

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – On Tuesday November 23, 2021 at approximately 12:37 a.m. officers with the Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a traffic stop on County Road 18 in the County of Brant.

Officers were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. One person was arrested and transported to the Brant County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged Tyson James DESMOULIN, 25 years-of-age from Brantford with:

·       Operation While Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

·       Race a motor vehicle – excessive speed,

·       Speeding – 145km/h in a posted 80km/h zone and

·       Novice Driver – Blood Alcohol Concentration above zero.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

Train Vs Pedestrian Collision

(INGERSOLL, ON) – On November 21, 2021, at approximately 11:00 a.m., the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a collision on Thames Street, Ingersoll.

Members of OPP, Ingersoll Fire Services and Oxford County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) attended the railway tracks on Thames Street between Victoria Street and St. Andrew Street.

Investigation determined that a 78-year-old pedestrian was struck by a train and pronounced deceased at the scene.

The road was closed for approximately four hours for investigation.

Oxford OPP, Canadian National (CN) Rail Police and the Office of the Chief Coroner continue to investigate.

21 Year Old Arrested In Belgrave

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Huron resident with Impaired Operation following a traffic stop conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) last week. 

At approximately 11:40 p.m. on November 18, 2021 a Huron County OPP officer was patrolling in Belgrave when he observed the accused driving in an erratic manner. A traffic stop was conducted on Queen’s Street and while speaking with the driver the investigating officer noted the accused was displaying several signs of impairment. 

The accused was arrested for Impaired Operation and was transported to the London OPP Detachment for a Drug Recognition Evaluation. Upon completion of the evaluation the Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) deemed the driver to be impaired by a drug. 

Ashlyn DEJONG, 21 years of age, from North Huron been charged with Operation While Impaired. The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for January 10 2022, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

$2 Million “Drug” Bust

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – A drug trafficking investigation conducted by members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), assisted by other West Region CSCU units, West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) and the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) resulted in charges being laid against five individuals.

On September 7, 2021, a search warrant was executed at an address on Oxford Road 29, Blandford-Blenheim Township.

As a result of the executed warrant, police seized over 1300 cannabis plants, over 300 pounds of processed cannabis, a quantity of suspected cocaine, hashish, cannabis resin, firearms and a stolen vehicle.

The value of the items seized in this investigation is over $2,000,000.

Pin CHEN, 31-years-old of Mississauga was charged with the following offence:

  • Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant at a Place That is Not Their Dwelling-House

Ronald LESPERANCE, 57-years-old of Drumbo was charged with the following offences:

  • Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant at a Place That is Not Their Dwelling-House
  • Alter or Offer to Alter the Chemical or Physical Properties of Cannabis By The Use Of An Organic Solvent
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Yong LIU, 62-years-old of Markham was charged with the following offence:

  • Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant at a Place That is Not Their Dwelling-House

Evelyn RESENDES, 54-years-old of Drumbo was charged with the following offences:

  • Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant at a Place That is Not Their Dwelling-House
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  • Alter or Offer to Alter the Chemical or Physical Properties of Cannabis By The Use Of An Organic Solvent
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

Matthew RESENDES, 23-years-old of Cambridge was charged with the following offences:

  • Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant at a Place That is Not Their Dwelling-House
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are pending.

All of the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on a later date.

Racer Stopped In Varna

(BLUEWATER, ON) – A North York resident had his vehicle impounded and licence suspended after getting stopped for Racing last week in Varna.

On August 19, 2021 at approximately 11:36 a.m. a member of the OPP West Region Highway Safety Division was conducting speed enforcement in Varna when a motor vehicle was observed racing through the hamlet. 

A RADAR device was used to measure the speed of the vehicle and it was found to be travelling at a speed in excess of 90 km/h in the posted 50 km/h zone. 

The vehicle was stopped and the driver was subsequently charged. Jiong TANG, 51 years of age from North York has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed. He will now have to attend court on October 5, 2021 at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich to answer to the charge.

Pervert Alert: Jacob FRIESEN – Child Porn

(MALAHIDE TWP, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Child Sexual Exploitation Unit, Digital Forensics Unit and Elgin County Detachment have arrested and charged a Malahide Township resident following an online child sexual exploitation investigation.

On August 17, 2021, police executed a search warrant at a home in Malahide Township and seized several electronic devices. As a result of this investigation, Jacob FRIESEN, 25-years-old, was arrested and charged with,

  • Two counts of possession of child pornography, as per section 163.1(4) of the Criminal Code;
  • One count of make available child pornography, as per section 163.1 (3) of the Criminal code.

The accused was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.

Children are our most valuable and precious members of society. Many victims of child sexual abuse are so young that they cannot tell their story. Every time an image or video depicting that abuse is shared, that child is re-victimized. Members of the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Unit will continue to pursue individuals who exploit children on the Internet.

Child Sexually Assaulted In Listowel – Pedophile’s Name Withheld By Police

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – One person is facing sexual assault charges in the Municipality of North Perth following a historical investigation.

Just before 12:00 am on August 1, 2021, the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of historical sexual assaults that occurred on an on-going basis between 2015 and 2017 in Listowel. An investigation was completed and as a result one person is facing multiple charges. 

A 36-year-old resident of Listowel was arrested and charged with:

–      Sexual Assault on a Person Under 16 Years of Age (two counts)

–      Make Sexually Explicit Material Available to Person Under 16 Years of Age

–      Sexual Interference (two counts)

–      Invitation to Sexual Touching under 16 Years of Age

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Officer Struck By Stolen Vehicle – Repeat Offender Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On August 10, 2021, members of the Repeat Offender Parole Enforcement Squad (ROPE) located both suspects in the city of Hamilton and took them into custody.

As a result, Daniel Robert GROULX, 28-years-old of West Lincoln, Ontario was charged with the following offences;

  • Failure to stop after accident,
  • Prohibited driving (two counts),
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle (two counts),
  • Possession of stolen property over $5000 (two counts),
  • Assault With a Weapon (two counts),
  • Obstruct Police,
  • Mischief over $5000,
  • Fail to comply with probation order (two counts),
  • Fail to comply with release order (two counts), and
  • Drive while under suspension (two counts).

A 15-year-old of West Lincoln, Ontario was also charged with:

  • Possession of stolen property over $5000 (two counts), and
  • Obstruct police.

Both individuals are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Cayuga at 1:30 p.m., on August 11, 2021.

33 Year Old Suspended Driver From Wroxeter Caught Again

(HOWICK, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Wroxeter resident with some driving related offences following a traffic stop conducted last weekend in Wroxeter.

On August 7, 2021 at approximately 2:25 a.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Harriston Road when he observed a motorcycle pass by without a licence plate attached to the vehicle. The officer turned around and eventually was able to stop the motorcycle on Main Street in Wroxeter.

Upon speaking with the driver the investigating officer learned the driver was driving with a suspended driver’s licence. Additionally, the motorcycle was not insured and there was no licence plate attached.  

As a result, a 33-year-old from Wroxeter has been charged with Driving While Under Suspension – 3 counts, Drive Motor Vehicle – No Plate and Operate a Motor Vehicle Without Insurance. The defendant will now have to attend Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich on September 21, 2021 at Provincial Offences Act Court in Goderich on September 21, 2021.

Repeat Offender Caught With Barrel Of Cut Copper Piping

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – A London resident is facing several criminal charges following an investigation conducted by Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 7, 2021 at approximately 7:43 p.m. Huron OPP officers responded to the former Bluewater Youth Centre located south of Goderich to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle parked near the property. 

Upon arrival officers located a hole cut into the perimeter fencing as well as an open door into one of the buildings. Approximately one hour later police located a suspect pushing a barrel of cut copper piping.

The accused was placed under arrest and was taken into custody without incident. 

Jeffrey MCCAFFERTY, 44 years of age, from London has been charged with:

·        Break, Enter – Commit Indictable Offence

·        Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

·        Mischief to Property

·        Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused has since been released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for September 13, 2021 at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Fatal Collision Near Dundalk Update – Deceased Identified

(SOUTHGATE TOWNSHIP, ON) – A fatal collision involving a pedestrian that took place yesterday morning near Dundalk remains under investigation by Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 9, 2021 at approximately 12:44 a.m., Grey Bruce OPP and Grey County Paramedic Services responded to the collision scene located on Grey Road 9 just west of Dundalk.

The preliminary investigation has determined a sedan was travelling westbound on Grey Road 9 near Ida Street when the vehicle collided with a pedestrian that was laying on the roadway.  

The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.   

The deceased has been identified as Ron HAMILTON, 41 Years of age, from Dundalk, ON.

The cause of the crash is currently under investigation with assistance from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team.

30 Year Old From Kincardine Facing Impaired Charge

(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) – On August 8, 2021, at approximately 2:45 p.m. the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired-driver on Wellington Rd 109, south-east of Harriston. It was reported that a driver was swerving dangerously in traffic and that they were possibly impaired.

Police located and stopped the driver. Officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

As a result of the investigation Davis Michael BERGVALDS, 30-years-old of Kincardine, has been charged with Impaired Operation 80 Plus (mg of alcohol per 100 mL of blood). A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on August 24, 2021.

Hit & Run Driver Found Impaired – Francis James BLOWN

(TOWNSHIP OF GUELPH/ERAMOSA, ON) – On August 4, 2021, at approximately 8:15 a.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a two vehicle collision on Wellington Rd 124, near Guelph Lake. Initial reports indicated that a S.U.V. (Sport Utility Vehicle) was struck by pickup truck that immediately drove from the scene. There were no reports of injuries.

OPP responded and located the suspected driver of the pickup truck. While speaking with the driver, officers formed the opinion that the driver was impaired by alcohol and/or drug. The driver was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing. A search incident to arrest located a quantity of suspected narcotics.

As a result of the investigation, Francis James BLOWN, 38-years-old of Guelph, has been charged with Failing to Stop After an Accident, Operation While impaired and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than heroin). The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph on September 7, 2021.
