Woodchipper Stolen

(PERTH EAST, ON) On June 21, 2023, at approximately 7:25 p.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a reported theft from a residence located on Perth Line 72 in the Township of Perth East.  

It was reported that sometime overnight, unknown(s) attended the above address and removed a woodchipper, pole saw and three chainsaws totalling approximately $19,000.

Rainbow Flag Stolen

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On June 21, 2023, at approximately 9:52 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received reports of a stolen Canadian flag and Pride flag at an Elma Street West, North Perth address.

Investigation determined that on June 21, 2023, at approximately 2:40 a.m., an unknown attended the address and removed a Canada flag and Pride flag from the flagpole. The suspect also damaged the flagpole and cut up flower beds.

Members of the Perth County OPP are continuing to investigate and is seeking the public’s assistance with this investigation. If anyone has any information, they are being asked to contact police at 1-888-310-1122.

The OPP want to remind all residents that if they see anything suspicious to please contact police immediately. If anyone is found committing acts of mischief, appropriate charges with be laid.

Brockton Drug Bust – Two Arrested

(BROCKTON, ON) – On June 26, 2023, at 7:17 p.m., members of the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were on patrol along Colborne Street north when they stopped to check a vehicle.

Officers found a quantity of illicit street drugs in the vehicle. As a result of the police investigation, two people were arrested and charged.

Rudy JOBIN, 43-years-old, of Brockton was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and Care or Control of a vehicle with Cannabis. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 25, 2023, to answer to the charges.

Nicholas MAYES, 41-years-old, of Brockton was charged with Possession of a Controlled substance. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 25, 2023, to answer to the charge.

Fatal ATV Collision

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The operator of the ATV has died as a result of a two-motor vehicle collision that occurred in North Perth.

On June 12, 2023, Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), North Perth Fire Department and Perth County Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision involving an All-Terrain vehicle (ATV) and a pick-up truck on Line 87 at Road 175 in the Municipality of North Perth.  

An individual was transported to hospital following a motor vehicle collision. The extent of the injuries is currently unknown, the 16-year-old ATV operator of Gowanstown has succumbed to their injuries.

Perth County OPP is continuing to investigate with the assistance of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team.

For the protection of emergency responders and to facilitate the investigation. Line 87 between Road 171 and 176 was closed for several hours.

MISSING: Howick Teen With Autism

UPDATE:

(HOWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), along with West Region OPP Emergency Response Team Members, West Region OPP K-9, and OPP Air Support is pleased to advise that the missing 16-year-old Howick teenager has been located alive and well.

On June 23rd, 2023, Huron OPP was notified of a missing teen from the Township of Howick. During the investigation, officers discovered that the youth, aged 16, had autism and was a member of the Mennonite community.

Thank you to everyone who assisted with this high priority search.

(HOWICK TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing 16-year-old Howick teenager.

On June 23rd, 2023, Huron OPP was notified of a missing teen from the Township of Howick. During the investigation, officers discovered that the youth, aged 16, has autism and is a member of the Mennonite community. Huron OPP is asking the public to assist in locating the missing teen.

Missing youth: Joseph is 16 years of age, approximately 5’9″ tall, medium build, wearing black pants with suspenders and a long sleeve shirt. It is believed that he is not wearing any footwear.

Joseph was last seen at 5:30 p.m. on June 23rd and may be lost in a large bush lot in the area of Salem Road.

Spousal Assault, Hit & Run In Chatsworth

(CHATSWORTH, ON) – The Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual following an intimate partner violence investigation in Chatsworth.

On June 17th, 2023, at approximately 5:05 p.m., the Grey Bruce OPP responded to a report of a disturbance in the Township of Chatsworth.

Through investigation, officers determined that several criminal offences had taken place.

The Grey Bruce OPP have charged a 45-year-old male from the Township of Chatsworth with the following offences:

  • Assault with a weapon
  • Spousal assault
  • Dangerous operation
  • Failure to stop after accident

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound.

Listowel Meth Bust – 2 Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – On June 20, 2023, the Perth County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), Huron Major Crime Unit (MCU) and a Perth County Provincial Police (OPP) officer executed a search warrant at an Elm Avenue North residence in Listowel in the Municipality of North Perth.  

During the search warrant, police seized a quantity of suspected Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Cocaine and Hydromorphone with an approximate value of $10,570. Police also seized Canadian currency and offence related property.  

Nikole VERNON, 37-year-old of North Perth was charged with:

–         Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–         Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

–         Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone

–         Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone

–         Possession of Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl

Ashley THOMPSON, 31-year-old of North Perth was charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking- Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Hydromorphone

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Oxycodone

–      Possession of Schedule I Substance – Fentanyl

The accused were released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on July 24, 2023, to answer to the charges.

North Perth Sexual Assault – 65 Year Old Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges in relation to a sexual assault that occurred in the Municipality of North Perth.

On June 15, 2023, police began an investigation into allegations of a sexual assault.  

Investigation revealed that the victim was sexually assaulted. The victim did not sustain any injuries.   

As a result of the investigation, a 65-year-old resident of North Perth was charged with:

–      Sexual Assault

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on August 8, 2023, to answer to the charge.

14 Year Old Charged Following Vehicle Fire

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) -On June 7, 2023, at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Wellington North Fire Department responded to a report of a vehicle on fire in a field off of Sligo Road East. The cause of the fire was determined to be suspicious, and the Wellington County OPP entered into an investigation.   

As a result of the investigation, a 14 year-old of the Township of Wellington North has been charged with Arson – Damage to Property. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph at a later date.

Wellington OPP Weekly Update

(COUNTY OF WELLINGTON, ON) – Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) would like to consolidate and streamline our notable traffic offences and publish a single weekly release.

On June 9, 2023, at approximately 2:30 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a traffic complaint of a motor vehicle traveling westbound along Wellington Road 7, Mapleton Township. It was reported that the motor vehicle was being operated in an aggressive and unsafe manner as it attempted to pass other vehicles. As a result of the investigation, Douglas LYNN, 82-years-old of St Catharines, has been charged with Dangerous Operation. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on August 4, 2023. 

On June 9, 2023, at approximately 10:00 p.m., the Wellington County OPP observed a motor vehicle traveling approximately 160 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone along Highway 6, Nichol Township. An 18-year-old of Guelph has been charged with Stunt Driving. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court in Guelph on September 13, 2023. 

On June 10, 2023, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a single motor vehicle collision. It was reported that a passenger vehicle had struck a cement barrier and was attempting to leave the scene of the collision. As a result of the investigation, Kaitlyn GOODFELLOW, 28-years-old of Nichol Township has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 27, 2023.   

On June 10, 2023, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of an All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) that had struck several parked vehicles and a light pole on Miller Crescent, Palmerston. Officers responded and located the driver of the ATV who was uninjured. As a result of the investigation, Kyle Nicholas MATCHETT, 33-years-old of Palmerston has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on June 30, 2023.   

On June 12, 2023 at approximately 2:15 p.m., the Wellington County OPP observed a motor vehicle traveling approximately 139 km/hr in a posted 80 km/hr zone along Highway 6, Guelph/Eramosa. As a result of the investigation a 22-year-old from Guelph has been charged with Stunt Driving. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court in Guelph on September 13, 2023.   

On June 13, 2023, at approximately 7:30 a.m., the Wellington County OPP stopped a motor vehicle traveling approximately 92 km/hr in a posted 50 km/hr zone on Scotland Street, Fergus. As a result of the investigation a 57 year-old of Fergus has been charged with Stunt Driving. The defendant is scheduled to appear before the provincial offences court in Guelph on September 13, 2023.     

On June 14, 2023, at approximately 11:30 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a motor vehicle in a ditch. Officers attended the scene and located a pickup truck in the ditch off of Concession 9, Arthur. As a result of the investigation, Robert GIMBLET, 51-years-old of Arthur has been charged with Operation while Impaired and Operation while Impaired -B.A.C. (80 Plus). The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on July 4, 2023.       

*Anyone charged with Operation while Impaired- 80 Plus (mgs of alcohol in 100mL of blood) or Failing to Comply with Demand receives a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S.) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment as per statute.

*Anyone charged with Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt receives a 14-day impoundment and a 30-day driver’s licence suspension as per statute.

Armed Home Invasion – Suspects At Large

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – On Tuesday June 20, 2023, at approximately 12:57 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Kingsville Detachment responded to an emergency 9-1-1 call for a home invasion at a County Road 27 West, Town of Kingsville address.

It was determined that three suspects attended a residence, two of the suspects were believed to be armed with suspected handguns and one with an edged weapon. One suspect searched the residence prior to them fleeing the scene in a pickup truck.

Officers were unable to locate the suspects. The vehicle was later recovered in the City of Windsor.

No injuries were reported as a result of the incident.

Investigators believe that this is not a random act but rather a targeted incident that remains under investigation. The OPP remind all members of the public to always be aware of their personal safety at all times. The OPP’s website, www.opp.ca, contains several useful resources, tips, and links.

Impaired Hit & Run Driver Arrested

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – One person is facing impaired driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members investigated a single-vehicle collision early Sunday morning in the County of Brant.

On June 18, 2023, at approximately 1:01 a.m., officers with the Brant County OPP responded to a reported collision in a construction zone on Brant Road near German School Road in the County of Brant. Police located a passenger in the vehicle and later located the driver after residents in the area called police about an unknown person on their property. There were no reported injuries.

One person was arrested and transported to Brant County detachment for testing.

Police have charged 29-year-old Claudio Luigi SAGGESE, from Brantford with the following offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol or drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Fail to Remain and
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

WATSON Arrested After Laying In Street – Alcohol A Factor

(ELORA, ON) – On Sunday, June 11, 2023 at approximately 12:30 a.m., an officer with the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on patrol in Elora when they observed a person laying in the middle of East Mill Street. When the officer attempted to remove the person from the roadway, the person assaulted the officer multiple times. 

As a result of the investigation, Kyle WATSON, 29 years-old of Elora has been charged with Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, and Having Liquor in an Open Container in an Unauthorized Place. The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on August 4, 2023.

Drunk Driver Caught Going 140 in an 80 – MAHAL

(BRANT COUNTY, ON) – A 26-year-old from Cambridge is facing impaired driving and stunt driving charges after Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members stopped a vehicle while conducting proactive patrols in the County of Brant early Sunday morning.

On Sunday June 18, 2023, at approximately 12:59 a.m., officers with the Brant County OPP were conducting proactive patrols on Brant Road in St. George when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 140 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. One person was arrested and transported to Brant County OPP detachment for testing.

Police have charged 26-year-old Bhavaman MAHAL, from Cambridge with the following offences:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),

·        Speeding 50+ Km/h over posted limit,

·        Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed and

·        Possess more than one licence.

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date.

Pride Flag Stolen

(OXFORD COUNTY, ON) – On June 18, 2023, at approximately 2:50 a.m., the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of theft involving a pride flag from a Stover Street address in Norwich.

The investigation has determined that two individuals attended the property and removed the flag from the front of the residence, damaging a frame it was attached to.

The homeowner interrupted the criminal act; however, they fled on foot to a nearby vehicle.

The vehicle is described as a blue coloured pick-up truck.

Video surveillance is being reviewed, and police are continuing to investigate.
