Another Meth Bust – Joseph BEVAN

(NORTH PERTH, ON) On June 22, 2023, at approximately 10:24 a.m., the Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a collision between two vehicles on Road 164 in the Municipality of North Perth.

The investigation indicated that an SUV crossed the centre line and collided with the front end of a tractor-trailer.   

The SUV driver was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. An officer attended the hospital and was informed that the male left immediately after arrival.

On July 19, 2023, Joseph BEVAN, a 36-year-old resident of Mildmay was arrested and charged with:

–      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Opioid (other than heroin)

–      Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling

–      Careless driving

–      Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

Stolen Property Recovered – Bradley KEESO Arrested

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges against a North Perth resident after he was found in possession of stolen property.

On July 24, 2023, just before 12:37 p.m., Perth OPP officers located a suspicious ATV at an Ellen Street address in the Municipality of North Perth.

As a result of the investigation, Bradley KEESO, 38, a resident of North Perth was arrested and charged with:

–      Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

–      Permit use of altered plate

–      Use plate not authorized for vehicle

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 11, 2023, to answer to the charges.

Stolen Trailer Recovered – 5 Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Five individuals were charged following a traffic stop on McDowell Road East.

On Monday, July 24, 2023, at approximately 3:05 p.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment stopped and investigated a vehicle and a trailer at a McDowell Road East, Norfolk County address following a suspended driver notification from the Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system.

It was determined that the trailer was previously reported stolen to the OPP.

As a result, the driver and four passengers were taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following offences is 51-year-old James SMITH of Norfolk County:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada,
  • Driving while under suspension.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Charged with the following offence is 49-year-old Bobbi-Jo KING of Norfolk County:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Charged with the following offence is 22-year-old Cameron GRIEVES of Brant County:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Charged with the following offence is 38-year-old Jason COURTEMANCHE of Norfolk County:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

Charged with the following offence is 38-year-old Victoria BIRDSELL of Norfolk County:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 – in Canada.

Dangerous Drunk Driving – Tajinder SINGH

(PERTH EAST, ON) – The Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) located and investigated a passenger vehicle after receiving a report of a suspected impaired driver.

On July 24, 2023, at approximately 7:54 a.m., an officer of the Perth County OPP located the vehicle on Line 52 in the Township of Perth East. The driver was showing signs of impairment.

As a result of the investigation, Tajinder SINGH, 39, of Perth East, has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs

–      Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

–      Dangerous operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day Vehicle Impoundment was initiated as per statute.  

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford on September 11, 2023.  

If you suspect someone is driving while their ability to operate a motor vehicle is impaired, either by drug or alcohol, call police at 911 to report it.

Plane Crash – Minor Injuries

(CENTRE WELLINGTON, ON) –On July 24, 2023, shortly after 7:15 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with Guelph-Wellington Paramedic Services and Centre Wellington Fire responded to a report of an airplane crash at Belwood Lake. 

Investigation revealed that a small Cessna Ultralight conducted an emergency landing on Belwood Lake. On-lookers were able to assist in removing the pilot from the water. The single occupant suffered minor injuries and was treated by paramedics at the scene. 

The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and Transport Canada were notified and continue to investigate.  

The Wellington County OPP would like to thank everyone who worked quickly to ensure the safety of those involved in this incident.

One Dead Following Drunk Driving Collision – MCGRATH Arrested

(TOWN OF ERIN, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual in relation to a fatal motor vehicle collision investigation.  

On July 23, 2023 shortly after 6:15 p.m., the Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a hatchback on Wellington Road 22, near Trafalgar Road. The driver of the pickup truck, a 31 year old of the Town of Erin was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased. The driver of the hatchback was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. 

The driver of the hatchback, Nicholas MCGRATH, 25 years old of Hillsburgh has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·        Dangerous Operation Causing Death

·        Impaired Operation Causing Death

·        B.A.C Over 80 Causing Death

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph on August 11, 2023. 

The Wellington County OPP is continuing to investigate with the assistance of the OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team. Wellington Road 22 was closed between Sixth Line and Wellington Road 24 (Trafalgar Road) for several hours for the investigation.

Anyone who may have observed these vehicles prior to the collision, who observed the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the collision is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Collision Involving Public School – One Sent To Hospital

(GODERICH, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a collision involving a minivan and an exterior wall at the Goderich Public School located on Blake Street West in the Town of Goderich. 

Huron County OPP, Goderich Fire Department, and Huron County Paramedic Services were dispatched to the scene of a collision on July 24th, 2023, at approximately 5:50 a.m. Upon arrival, emergency services discovered that a minivan had crashed through a brick wall on the East side of the elementary school causing extensive damage to the library and an adjoining classroom.

The 17-year-old driver was transported to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The involved vehicle has since been removed and repairs to the school are being arranged. The investigation is ongoing. More information to follow.

38 Year Old Arrested For Refusing To Blow & Resisting – Name Released

(HOWICK TWP, ON) – The Huron Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron-Kinloss Township resident with Impaired driving offences and Resisting a Peace Officer following an interaction with police on July 17th, 2023, on Amberley Road in Howick Township.

On July 17th, at 12:41 a.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Amberley Road in Howick Township when they located a parked motor vehicle on Amberley Road. The driver appeared to be sleeping and the officer was able to eventually get the driver’s attention. The driver refused to exit the vehicle or identify themself. Evidence of alcohol consumption was observed within the vehicle. Additional officers responded to assist, and the driver was removed from the vehicle. The investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation.

The individual was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton to provide breath tests before a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician. The accused refused to provide breath samples and resisted officers during processing.

Joshua DAWSON, 38 years of age from Huron-Kinloss Twp has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired,

–      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand,

–      Resist Peace Officer

The accused was additionally charged with offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA) and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 28th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

22 Year Old Arrested For Dangerous Drunk Driving

(NORTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh resident with several criminal driving offences following a traffic complaint received by police from the public on Sunday July 16th, 2023. 

On July 16th at approximately 4:50 p.m., Huron County OPP were contacted by a concerned citizen who reported an eastbound black pickup truck driving erratically on Belgrave Road in North Huron. Police patrolled in the area of the complaint and located a pickup truck in Belgrave matching the complainant’s description.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest for Impaired Operation and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician.

William REED, 22 years of age from Ashfield Colborne Wawanosh Twp has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – alcohol and drugs,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80,

–      Dangerous Operation.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 14th at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

43 Year Old From ACW Arrested – Name Released

(ASHFIELD-COLBORNE-WAWANOSH TWP, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township resident with several offences, including an Impaired Operation – Over 80 driving offence following a traffic stop on Sunday, July 16th. 

Just after midnight on July 16th, 2023, Huron County OPP officers were conducting proactive patrols in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township. At approximately 12:20 a.m., officers observed a motor vehicle travelling eastbound on Belfast Road exceeding the posted speed limit. A traffic stop was initiated by officers on Belfast Road.

Police spoke to the driver and determined that they had been consuming alcohol prior to driving. The driver registered a “Fail” on the approved screening device (ASD) and was subsequently placed under arrest for Operation Over 80 and taken into custody. The driver was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton for further breath tests before an OPP qualified breath technician.

Brian MACKENZIE, 43 years of age from Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with offences under the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA), and Liquor Licence Control Act (LLCA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 28th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

17 Year Old Ditch Drunk Driver Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Goderich youth with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a single vehicle collision into a ditch and a failed roadside test on July 14th, 2023. 

On July 14th at 10:30 p.m., Huron County OPP officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision into a ditch on Bannockburn Line at Roman Road in the Municipality of Central Huron. Police spoke with the involved young driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest. 

The accused provided two suitable breath samples to the Intoxilyzer Technician at the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton, and both tests exceeded the legal limit. 

A 17-year-old youth from Goderich has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused youth was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on September 14th, 2023.

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).

Drunk Driver Arrested On London Road

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY TWP, ON) – The Huron Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with an Impaired driving offence following a traffic stop on July 2nd, 2023, on London Road in the Township of Morris-Turnberry.

On July 2nd, at 7:18 p.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on London Road in Morris-Turnberry when they conducted a traffic stop on a southbound motor vehicle that was travelling much higher than the posted speed limit. In speaking to the driver, the investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and was subsequently required to provide a roadside breath sample into an Approved Screening Device (ASD), which resulted in a failure.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton to provide breath tests before a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician. Suitable breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over twice the legal limit.

Jeffery FINKBEINER, 41 years of age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with an offence found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 14th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

(MORRIS-TURNBERRY TWP, ON) – The Huron Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a North Huron resident with Impaired driving offences following a traffic stop on July 1st, 2023, on Clyde Line in the Township of Morris-Turnberry.

On July 1st, at 2:42 a.m. a Huron OPP officer was patrolling on Clyde Line in Morris-Turnberry when they conducted a traffic stop on a northbound motor vehicle that was travelling much slower than the posted speed limit. In speaking to the driver, the investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol prior to driving and was subsequently arrested for Impaired Operation.

The individual was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton to provide breath tests before a qualified Intoxilyzer Technician. Suitable breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

David FRANKEN, 55 years of age from North Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired,

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 14th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

18 Year Old From Central Huron Arrested

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Central Huron resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a single vehicle collision into a tree and a failed roadside test on June 29th, 2023. 

On June 29th at 8:19 p.m., Huron County OPP officers, along with members of the Huron County EMS responded to a report of a single vehicle collision into a tree on Londesboro Road in the Municipality of Central Huron. The lone driver was located inside the involved vehicle and was safely removed. The driver received minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to the Clinton Hospital. Police spoke with the driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest. 

The accused provided two suitable breath samples to the Intoxilyzer Technician at the hospital, and both tests exceeded the legal limit. 

Bradly HUMMEL, 18 years of age from Central Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 14th, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

39 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(SOUTH HURON, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an Alliston resident with Impaired Operation – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus) following a failed roadside test on June 27th at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Airport Line, Municipality of South Huron. 

A Huron County OPP officer was patrolling west of Exeter on Thames Road West when they observed a motor vehicle travelling eastbound, passing another eastbound vehicle at a high rate of speed. The officer locked in the speed reading and proceeded to conduct a traffic stop on Airport Line, where the subject vehicle had turned onto. Police pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver which led to the investigating officer conducting a roadside screening device test on the driver. The roadside breath test resulted in a failure and the driver was placed under arrest and taken into custody. 

The accused was then transported to the Huron OPP Detachment in Clinton for further breath tests. Two samples of breath were supplied to the Intoxilyzer Technician and both tests were found to be over double the legal limit. 

Robert MCERLAIN, 39 years of age from Alliston has been charged with:

–      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus).

The involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was released from custody with a court appearance scheduled for August 21st at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.
