Samuel HOUSTON Was Arrested

(PRINCE EDWARD COUNTY, ON) – A report of a suspected impaired driver on Highway 62 in Prince Edward County has resulted in an arrest.

Members of the Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded just after 7:30 p.m. on June 23, 2024. and located the vehicle on County Road 1.

The driver was arrested and transported to the detachment for testing by a Drug Recognition Evaluation Officer. A search of the car resulted in the seizure of Ketamine, amphetamine and GHB.

Samuel HOUSTON, age 28 of Montreal, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 substance – three counts.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Picton on July 24, 2024.

The accused’s licence is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

9 Kilo Cocaine Bust

(OTTAWA, ON) – A four-month Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) investigation in the Ottawa area has led to the seizure of approximately nine kilograms of suspected cocaine and numerous drug trafficking and firearms charges.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG) and uniform members of the Ottawa OPP Detachment, with assistance from the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) Tactical Unit and Drug Unit, executed three search warrants in Ottawa and Kanata on June 14, 2024.

Officers seized the following:

  •         Approximately nine kilograms of suspected cocaine
  •        Approximately $47,000 CAD currency
  •         9mm loaded handgun with ammunition
  •         One vehicle as offence-related property

As a result of the investigation, Reyan ABDULKADER, age 29 of Ottawa, has been charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code and CDSA:

  •         Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  •         Possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
  •         Possession of loaded prohibited/restricted firearm
  •         Possession of a firearm obtained by crime
  •         Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there is a firearm
  •         Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  •         Possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Ottawa on June 24, 2024.

More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(NORFOLK COUNTY, ON) – Five individuals are facing charges following investigations into separate incidents of impaired driving.

At approximately 11:58 p.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program at a location on Turkey Point Road in Turkey Point, Norfolk County. During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 44-year-old Vincent FENTON of Ridgeway, Ontario:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

At approximately 1:40 a.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024, officers from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment were conducting a RIDE program at a location on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe, Norfolk County. During the operation, a vehicle was stopped, and the driver was assessed for sobriety.

As a result, the driver was taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offence is 36-year-old Steven EDWARDS of Norfolk County:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.

At approximately 4:53 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, an officer from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment conducted a vehicle stop and investigation at a location on Norfolk Street South in Simcoe, Norfolk County.

Following an assessment of the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, they were taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 37-year-old Jayce THOMAS of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero,
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence,
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor,
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

At approximately 8:53 p.m. on Friday, June 21, 2024, the Norfolk County OPP Detachment investigated a two-vehicle collision on Main Street in Port Dover, Norfolk County.

It was determined that one of the vehicles involved had fled the scene. No injuries were reported.

Responding officers located the vehicle in question on St. Andrew Street in Port Dover, Norfolk County. After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, they were taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 26-year-old Darian DREWERY of Kitchener, Ontario:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus),
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence.

The accused is schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, August 6, 2024.

At approximately 2:42 p.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024, officers from the Norfolk County OPP Detachment responded to a 9-1-1 call regarding a suspected impaired driver on Cockshutt Road in Townsend, Norfolk County.

Responding officers located the vehicle in question at a location on Cockshutt Road in Townsend, Norfolk County. After assessing the driver’s sobriety at the roadside, they were taken into custody without incident.

Charged with the following alleged offences is 55-year-old Lawrence HOOTON of Thorold, Ontario:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs,
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Simcoe on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

Kincardine Drug Bust: Name Released

(KINCARDINE, ON) – On June 22, 2024, at 2:07 a.m., officers with the South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped to check a vehicle during a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program in the Municipality of Brockton

During the interaction with the occupants, officers observed illicit drugs in plain view. A search led to the seizure of drugs.

As a result of the investigation, the South Bruce OPP have charged:

Sam Van Bakel, 20-years-old, from Hensall Ontario is charged with:

  • Poss. of a Schedule 1

The accused will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

Collision Leads to Arrest

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended two collisions over the weekend and both resulted in the driver being charged with operation while impaired.

On June 21st, at approximately 6:00p.m a single vehicle roll-over occurred on County Road 121. Officers and other emergency services attended the scene. The driver of the vehicle had left the scene but with the help of the community, Officers were able to locate the driver. Upon speaking with the driver, the investigating officer entered an impaired driving investigation.

Clayton Ward,46-year-old, from Whitby was arrested and charged with the following.

  • Operation while impaired
  • Operation while impaired-blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Fail to remain.
  • Careless Driving

Shortly after at 6:30p.m, OPP Officers responded to another collision in Bobcaygeon involving a Van and a Sedan. Both drivers were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The officer’s investigation found that the red van had been reported stolen, further the driver of the red van Giovanni Pellegrino, 53-year-old, from Toronto was arrested and charged with the following.

  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand.
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Careless driving
  • Driver fails to surrender licence
  • Fail to have insurance card.

Both parties were released from custody with a future court date, they were served a 90-day driver’s licence suspension, and the involved vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days in accordance with the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Emily ZANINI Was Arrested

(ESPANOLA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged following a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) program.

On June 21, 2024, shortly before 12:00 a.m., the Manitoulin Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a R.I.D.E. program on Highway 6 near Foucault Road in Espanola.

A vehicle approached the R.I.D.E. program and did not stop for officers. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle a short distance from the R.I.D.E. program. Upon speaking with the driver, police were able to determine the driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was subsequently arrested and transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Emily ZANINI, 32-years-old from Sudbury has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available

·      Driver fail to surrender licence

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

·      Fail to stop for police

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on August 6, 2024.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

2.4 Kilo Cocaine Bust

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – A Greater Toronto Area resident has been charged in connection with a drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Provincial Guns and Gangs Enforcement Team (PGNG), comprised of members of 20 police services, including Thunder Bay Police Service and Nishnawbe Aski Police Service.

On June 18, 2024, officers seized approximately 2.4 kilograms of suspected cocaine and two cell phones following a vehicle stop on Highway 11/17 in Shuniah Township.

As a result of the investigation, Alondra MOFFATT, 23 years old of Mississauga, has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking in cocaine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on June 24, 2024.

Sharon TIFFANY: Impaired Driving

(WALKERTON, ON) – The South Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an impaired driver after receiving a traffic complaint by a citizen in Walkerton, in the Municipality of Brockton.

On June 23, 2024, members of the South Bruce OPP were contacted by a concerned citizen in the Municipality of Brockton due to the driving of an observed motorist. At approximately 8:44 p.m., police stopped the vehicle to check the sobriety of the driver. The driver was placed under arrest.

Sharon TIFFANY, 60-years-old, from the Municipality of Arran-Elderslie was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – drug
  • Possession of a controlled drug

2 Arrested In Meaford – Names Released

(MEAFORD, ON) – Two individuals are facing charges after the police received complaints of trespassers on their property.

On June 23, 2024, at 3:56 p.m., the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of two individuals trespassing on someone’s property and that one individual was still on the property and the other left on foot. Police located the individual on foot and the individual at the residence. 

John Lawrence, 57-years-old of Meaford was charged with, theft under $5000.

Scott Weiler, 36-years-old of Meaford was charged with, theft under $5000 and possession of a schedule I substance – methamphetamine.

The accused parties are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on July 25, 2024.

Dylan GALL Was Arrested

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – The Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with impaired driving after conducting a traffic stop for speeding.

On June 20, 2024, shortly after 7:45 p.m., members of the Temiskaming OPP stopped a motor vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act violation on Highway 11 in the City of Temiskaming Shores. Through investigation, police determined that the driver had been consuming alcoholic beverages. The driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming Detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Dylan GALL, 30 years-of-age of New Liskeard, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Speeding 50+ km/h over posted limit
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed
  • Driver fail to surrender licence
  • Fail to notify change of address

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Haileybury Ontario Court of Justice on July 9, 2024. He was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS), and his motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Fatal Collision

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – An individual is deceased following a single-vehicle collision involving a motorcycle in Southwest Middlesex County.

On June 23, 2024, at approximately 2:45 a.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Southwest Middlesex Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a collision on Longwoods Road near Sassafras Road, Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

The collision involved a lone motorcycle which left the roadway, collided with a tree, and ignited on fire.

A 41-year-old from Leamington, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy.

The Middlesex OPP with the assistance West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team continue to investigate the collision.

Longwoods Road between Sassafras Road and Dogwood Road was closed for several hours to allow for investigation. The road has since been reopened.

Paul BROHMAN Was Arrested

(OTTAWA, ON) – Members of the Ottawa Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an Ottawa resident with Impaired Driving after the individual drove their vehicle into the parking lot of the Ottawa OPP.

Shortly after 3:00 a.m. on June 23, OPP observed a vehicle turning into the Detachment parking lot. An officer who was driving behind the vehicle, stopped the driver to see if they could offer any assistance. The driver was found to be impaired by alcohol and registered more then twice the legal limit. 

Paul BROHMAN, aged 47, was charged with the following:

·      Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

Brohman’s vehicle was impounded for seven days and he received a 90-day driving suspension. Brohman is set to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on July 23, 2024.

Justin Mosbeck Was Arrested

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – An afternoon vehicle stop to inspect maintenance resulted in the driver’s arrest after they failed a roadside alcohol test.  

On June 22, 2024, at approximately 2:30 pm, a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Atikokan Detachment stopped a vehicle in the Don Park area of Atikokan to inspect equipment after vehicle maintenance issues were observed. The officer detected the odour of alcohol and made a demand for a roadside test. The driver failed the roadside test and was arrested for the offence.  Additional testing was conducted at the Atikokan Detachment by a Qualified Technician.

Justin Mosbeck, 34-years-old, from Atikokan is charged criminally with one count each of impaired operation alcohol or drugs, and impaired operation blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The accused also received a 90-day licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused is to appear in the Atikokan Ontario Court of Justice on July 25, 2024, to answer to the charge.

$100,000 Meth Bust

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) – On June 19, 2024, a member of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was patrolling Main Street North, Mount Forest. At approximately 11:15 p.m., the occupant of a silver sedan was observed trafficking a controlled substance.

As a result of an investigation, Peter A FORSCHNER, 58-year-old of Mount Forest, was charged with Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine and Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario court of justice – Guelph, on July 23, 20024.

Investigators seized nearly an estimated $1000,000 in contraband, drug trafficking equipment and currency.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(ORILLIA, ON) – Members of the Orillia Detachments Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid drug trafficking related charges and seized a quantity of drugs.

Over the last few months, Orillia CSCU began investigating individuals who were allegedly trafficking drugs in the City of Orillia to a specific address on Barrie Rd and Dunlop St. Utilizing investigative techniques police were able to gather evidence further advancing their investigation. On June 21, 2024 – satisfied with the information gathered the Orillia CSCU proceeded to the next steps in their investigation. With the assistance of Orillia OPP frontline members a search warrant was executed at an address on Barrie Rd. in the City of Orillia and four individuals were arrested and charged with several Drug related charges.

As a result of the investigation, the following was seized:

1 functioning digital scale.

Approximately 3 grams methamphetamine.

48 “PGB” capsules.

9.5 grams cocaine.

Cutting agents.

1 functioning police radio scanner.

975.00 in Canadian Currency.

Sherrylynn HART, 54 years old, of Orillia, has been charged with:

  •      Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in August 2024.

Michael HART-PAYNE, 29 years old, of Orillia, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in August 2024.

Tyler JOHNSTON, 18 years old, of Orillia, has been charged with:

  • Adult Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Adult Poss of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orillia, to answer to the charges at a later date in August 2024.

Donald KINGSBURY, 60 years old, of Orillia, has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
