Victoria MILLER – Drunk Driving

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – A person was charged after police received a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver on Highway 17.

On April 17, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complainant from the Espanola area. This was regarding a westbound small white car all over the road and operating with no lights on. The vehicle was stopped in Blind River a short time later and the driver was spoken to. Police detected the odour of alcoholic beverage on the driver’s breath. It was also learned that the driver was prohibited from driving. They were subsequently arrested and the vehicle was towed and impounded.  

Victoria MILLER, 28-years-old, from Chelmsford was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired by alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 5, 2025.

Andrew HEPBURN Was Arrested Again

(ELLIOT LAKE, ON) – Prohibited driver charged in Elliot Lake.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 10:45 a.m. the East Algoma Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting general patrol duties on Spruce Avenue. Police recognized a black car with a known suspended driver.

A subsequent vehicle stop was conducted and the driver was arrested. The vehicle was also towed and impounded.     

Andrew HEPBURN, 28-years-old, of Elliot Lake was charged with:

  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order
  • Driving while under suspension – while suspended under HTA Sec 41/42
  • Driving while under suspension (two counts)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 12, 2025.

Marc Belisle Was Arrested – Details Released

(COLLINGWOOD, ON). The Collingwood and Blue Mountains Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has made an arrest in connection with an incident on a Collingwood trail on April 16, 2025, where a young adult female was approached and threatened. 

Following an investigation on April 17, 2025, the officers of the Collingwood OPP arrested Marc Belisle, a 22-year-old male from Collingwood. Belisle has been charged with Criminal Harassment under the Criminal Code of Canada and was also arrested on the strength of outstanding warrants. Belisle was held in custody for a bail hearing on April 18, 2025.

The case was managed by members of the Collingwood OPP Crime Unit, led by Detective Sergeant Jason Lloyd. The safety of our community is our top priority, and the OPP is dedicated to addressing crime with all available resources to ensure public safety.

The Collingwood OPP Crime Unit has concluded that there is no ongoing threat to public safety related to this incident. We thank the public for their cooperation and vigilance in reporting information that assisted in this investigation.

The OPP encourages residents to remain mindful of their surroundings while using trails and public spaces. Stay alert, travel in groups when possible, and report any suspicious behaviour to police immediately.

3 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(MIDLAND, ON) – With the Easter long weekend upon us, officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will be more visible on our roadways and enforcing traffic laws in the interest of road safety to help keep motorists safe while travelling to see family and friends.

Sadly, the incidence of people choosing to get behind the wheel while impaired never seems to lessen, even though we regularly report on incidents of driving while impaired that just never end well for anyone.

This week, concerned members of our community made the call to the OPP Communication Centre to report two of the three following incidents and these are the road safety results of these investigations.

Investigation # 1

Near 3:07 a.m. April 18, 2025, officers responded to a report that near the intersection of Young Street and Simcoe County Road 93, Midland a dark coloured SUV had backed over a metal post and was stuck. An impaired driving investigation was commenced by officers after the suspect vehicle was located nearby and the driver was spoken to.

As a result, Owen BELAIR 25 years of Midland has been charged criminally with the following driving offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

And Further with the following Provincial Offences Violations

  • Careless driving
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on May 29, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Investigation # 2

An officer on general patrol at the intersection of Pine Street and Coldwater Road in Waubaushene took evasive action to avoid an oncoming vehicle at speed at approximately 11:13 p.m. April 17, 2025. The officer was able to safely stop the vehicle nearby and upon speaking to the driver entered into a impaired driving investigation.

This investigation has resulted in Alexander PTOLEMY-FRENCH 20 years of Milverton being charged criminally with the following driving offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on May 1, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Investigation # 3

The OPP Communication Centre received a call from concerned community member reporting a possible impaired driver in the area of Main and Poyntz Streets, Penetanguishene at approximately 2:09 p.m. April 13, 2025, . The dispatched officer located the suspect vehicle in the nearby mall parking lot and spoke with the driver who exhibited signs of impairment causing the officer to enter into a drinking and driving investigation.

Charged criminally upon completion of the investigation with driving offences as follows is Peter DAVENPORT 66 years of Oakville.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on April 24, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Armed Robbery – 2 Arrested

(INGERSOLL, ON) – The Oxford Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a robbery in the Town of Ingersoll and are seeking the public’s assistance.

On April 9, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Oxford OPP were dispatched to an address on Thames Street South in the Town of Ingersoll for a report of a robbery.

It was determined an unknown individual entered the property with what appeared to be a firearm and left with an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. The individual was observed to be exiting the area in a red mid-2000’s Volkswagen Beetle.

On April 10, 2025, Nicholas Scott, 31-years-old, of Ingersoll, has been arrested and charged with: 

·      Armed Robbery

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Disguise with intent

·      Take motor vehicle without consent

The accused was held for a bail hearing. The accused has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on April 29, 2025.

On April 17, 2025, Katie Longlade, 39-years-old, of Ingersoll, has been arrested and charged with:  

·      Armed Robbery

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Disguise with intent

·      Take motor vehicle without consent

 The accused was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance if any suspicious activity was observed around the time of the incident, or if members of the public have any CCTV or dashcam footage, around Thames Street South and St. Andrews Street, in the Town of Ingersoll.

Jeffrey Gibson – Drunk Driving

(Kingston, ON) – A traffic complaint for a vehicle speeding and driving aggressively, has resulted in the arrest of the driver receiving several charges.

Just after 7:00 am on April 17, 2025, Frontenac OPP received multiple complaints from witnesses about a vehicle speeding westbound along the 401 highway near Kingston. A Frontenac OPP member located the vehicle passing Joyceville Road and confirmed the vehicle speed at 178 km/h on the highway, in a 100 km/h zone. The driver was arrested for stunt driving – excessive speed.

During the arrest, the officer detected alcohol coming from the driver. An alcohol screening device (ASD) was used at the roadside, which resulted in the driver registering a ” FAIL ” on the device.

The operator of the vehicle was taken to the Kingston Police station for further breath testing.

Jeffrey Gibson, 42 years-old, from Mallorytown was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired, blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed.

The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston, on May 13, 2025. They also had their drivers license suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

The OPP would like to remind people that Impaired Driving is a serious threat to public safety. Highway safety is a team sport, do your part and plan a safe ride home.

One Dead, Two Arrested In Drug Death

(BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION, ON) – Members of the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested two people in relation to a drug overdose death investigation.

On Saturday, March 1, 2024, at approximately 6:25 a.m., the Batchewana First Nation Police Service, Sault Ste. Marie Paramedic Service and Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services responded to reports of an unresponsive female at a residence on Gran Street in Batchewana First Nation. A 23-year-old female was located and pronounced deceased.

Batchewana First Nation Police Service requested assistance from the OPP Sault Ste. Marie Crime Unit in relation to the investigation.

As a result, Coy LAROCQUE, 28 years old of Sault Ste. Marie, has been arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences:

  • Manslaughter, section 236(b)
  • Causing death by criminal negligence, section 220(b)
  • Trafficking Schedule I substance – opioid, section 5(1)
  • Trafficking Schedule I substance – cocaine, section 5(1)

In addition, Sierra-Lynn NADON, 29 years old of Sault Ste. Marie, has also been arrested and charged with:

  • Manslaughter, section 236(b)
  • Trafficking Schedule I substance – opioid, section 5(1)
  • Trafficking Schedule I substance – cocaine, section 5(1)

Both accused remain in custody pending a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sault Ste. Marie.

The investigation is being conducted by the OPP Sault Ste. Marie Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. Assistance is also being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services, Digital Forensics and Batchewana First Nation Police Service.

Dawn MOOSE Was Arrested Again

(KENORA, ON) – On April 15, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of mischief at a local church.

Police were notified that suspect had thrown a brick through a window of the Church, and that the suspect was trying to gain entry to the church. Police located the suspect, who then resisted police direction as she was being placed under arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Dawn MOOSE, 22-years-old of Kenora, Ontario has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Mischief Under $5,000

·      Resist Peace Officer

·      Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was remanded into custody and will appear before the Ontario court of Justice at a later date.

Benjamin HUMBERT Was Arrested – Details Released

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – An officer with the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped an impaired driver leaving a licensed establishment.

On April 14, 2025, at approximately 12:00 am, an officer with the Fort Frances OPP witnessed a person with unsteady gait leave a licensed establishment on King’s Highway and get behind the wheel.

The officer stopped the vehicle and demanded a roadside alcohol test. The driver failed the test, was arrested, and transported to the Fort Frances OPP Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.

Benjamin HUMBERT, 28-years-old, from International Falls MN is charged criminally with one count each of impaired operation alcohol or drug, and impaired operation blood alcohol concentration 80 milligrams or over. The accused’s driver licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released by police and has a first appearance in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on May 12, 2025.

There is no excuse for any driver to operate a motor vehicle while impaired. Even one life lost to an impaired driver will always be one too many. The OPP continues in its efforts to keep impaired drivers off our roads through enforcement and public education. We need drivers to do their part to make our roads safe.

Katherine ALBANY – Impaired Driving

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) – The Sioux Lookout Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is continuing to take impaired drivers off local roads

On April 11, 2025, shortly after 11:00 a.m., members of the Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of intoxicated unwanted parties at a local hotel. Officers attended and located one individual intoxicated in the driver’s seat of the motor vehicle. Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Sioux Lookout Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.

Katherine ALBANY, 47-years-old, from Thunder Bay, Ontario is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on June 3, 2025, to answer to the criminal charges.

Mario Sami – Drunk Driving

(EDWARDSBURGH CARDINAL, ON) – A tractor-trailer driver has been arrested and charged with impaired driving offences following two reported traffic complaints on Highway 416, in Edwardsburgh Cardinal Township. 

On April 16, 2025, just after 9:00 p.m., an off-duty police officer and a member of the public called police to report a traffic complaint involving a tractor-trailer that was driving in the middle of the road and well-under the posted speed limit, northbound on Highway 416. Members of the Grenville County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) quickly located the vehicle while still on Highway 416 and stopped it. 

The officers’ observations led into a roadside impaired driving investigation. The driver was subsequently arrested, and further testing was conducted at the Grenville County OPP Detachment. Test results were more than three times the legal limit. 

Mario Sami, 47 years of age, of Toronto, Ontario, was charged criminally with operation while impaired – alcohol, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus. The accused was also charged under the Highway Traffic Act with unnecessary slow driving. 

The accused was later released with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville.

Deidrick SMITH Was Arrested

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – An officer with the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) found an impaired driver after witnessing aggressive driving behaviour.

On April 13, 2025, at approximately 12:30 am, an officer with the Fort Frances OPP observed a pick-up truck rapidly accelerating on Crowe Avenue. The vehicle was stopped, and a roadside screening test was demanded. The driver failed the test and was placed under arrest.

The driver was transported to the Fort Frances Detachment where additional breath testing was completed by way of demand.

Deidrick SMITH, 26-years-old, from Emo, ON is charged criminally with one count each of impaired operation alcohol or drug, and impaired operation blood alcohol concentration 80 milligrams or over. The accused’s driver licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days. The accused also received provincial offence notices for unnecessary noise and expired validation.

The accused was released by police and has a first appearance in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on May 26, 2025.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(BLIND RIVER, ON) – On April 16, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a Controlled Dugs and Substances Act (CDSA) warrant at a residence on Youngfox Road in Blind River.

As a result of the warrant being executed, over 100 grams of suspected cocaine, digital scales, cash, packaging materials, debt lists, machetes, and numerous cell phones were seized. 

The OPP’s Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Emergency Response Team (ERT), Canine Unit, and uniform members were involved with the investigation.         

Samantha PELLERIN, 30-years-old, of Blind River was charged with: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.

Echo PELLERIN, 41-years-old, of Blind River was charged with: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.

Robert VINCENT, 36-years-old, of Blind River was charged with: Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.

Jameel Winston BAPTISTE, 38-years-old, of Niagara Falls was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000

All accused persons are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Elliot Lake on June 5, 2025.

John Peter SPOON – Impaired Operation

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – An all-terrain vehicle (ATV) stopped by the Fort Frances Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) resulted in the arrest of an impaired driver.

On April 12, 2025, at approximately 5:00 pm, the Fort Frances OPP observed an ATV operating with two helmetless riders in the Christie Avenue North area of Town. The ATV was stopped and the officer determined that the driver was obviously impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested at the scene. When the driver was searched incident to arrest, a large quantity of suspected Schedule I – Percocet was located.

The driver was transported to the Fort Frances Detachment for further investigation and breath testing.

John Peter SPOON, 54-years-old, from Seine River ON is charged criminally with one count each of impaired operation alcohol or drug, failure or refusal to provide a breath sample, and possession of a controlled substance (Schedule I – opioid) for the purpose of trafficking. The accused’s driver licence was suspended for 90 days, and the ATV was impounded for seven days.

The accused was released by police and has a first appearance in the Fort Frances Ontario Court of Justice on May 26, 2025.

Allen HURLEY Was Arrested

(SOUTHWEST MIDDLESEX, ON) – Driver facing charges after traffic stop at OPP Ride Program.

On April 14, 2025, at 11:18 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), were performing a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) Program on Longwoods Road in the Municipality of Southwest Middlesex.

A vehicle entered the RIDE Program at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Allen HURLEY, a 57-year-old of Glencoe has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act and Cannabis Control Act with:

·        Operation while impaired – Drugs

·        Driving while under suspension

·        Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 10, 2025.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.
