(WINGHAM, ON) – F.E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham, Township of North Huron is hosting an information session on Human Trafficking in partnership with the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and Huron County Victim Services.

When: April 29th at 7:00 p.m.

Where: The school is located at 231 Madill Drive in Wingham, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Speakers include Jenn EVANS, Operations Manager for Victim Services Huron-Perth, and Ashley HORTON, OPP Detective Sergeant – West Region OPP Team Lead – Anti-Human Trafficking.

In Ontario, trafficking primarily for sexual and labour exploitation is rising, with traffickers increasingly targeting vulnerable individuals from small towns.

Sawed-Off Shotgun Results In Numerous Charges

(BATCHEWANA FIRST NATION, ON) – Two individuals are facing criminal charges after a traffic stop in Batchewana First Nation.

On April 16, 2025, at approximately 2:14 p.m., officers with the Batchewana First Nation Police Service were conducting general patrol, when they observed a motor vehicle travelling at an exceptionally low rate of speed on August Street. A traffic stop was conducted, where investigation revealed one of the passengers was wanted by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service. The passenger was arrested and searched, where officers located a small amount of suspected clonazepam pills. The vehicle was then searched incident to arrest, where officers located various amounts of suspected cocaine and fentanyl inside a second passenger’s property. Officers also located a sawed-off shotgun, belonging to the second passenger.

As a result, Rachel HARRIMAN, 22 years-of-age, of Sault Ste. Marie was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on June 2, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie.

Mark DUBOIS, 33 years-of-age, of Batchewana First Nation was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I substance
  • Possession of Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm
  • Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Possession of a prohibited device
  • Careless storage of firearm
  • Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
  • Breach of firearms regulation – transport firearm

The accused was held for a bail hearing, and subsequently remanded into custody.

Amandeep BOPARAI – Drunk Driving

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) – The Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge a Guelph resident with two criminal charges, stemming from an impaired investigation.

On April 22, 2025, at approximately 8:45 p.m., members of the Wellington County OPP attended the scene of a single motor-vehicle collision, where the vehicle had rolled multiple times, knocking down hydro-poles and wires, causing significant damage and causing the entire road to be closed. The driver sustained minor injuries, was assessed medically by paramedics, but not required to attend local hospital. Thankfully, no one else was hurt as a result of this poor decision.

As a result of this investigation, Amandeep BOPARAI, a 46-year-old of Guelph is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Guelph on May 6. 2025.

Kyle PORCHERON – Speeding & Drunk Driving

(BATCHAWANA BAY, ON) – A traffic stop north of the city has resulted in impaired driving charges for one individual.

On April 11, 2025, at approximately 3:51 p.m., an officer with the Sault Ste. Marie Ontario Provincial Police was conducting general patrol on Highway 17, when they observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed near Batchawana Bay.

A traffic stop was conducted, and investigation determined the vehicle driver had consumed alcoholic beverages. As a result, Kyle PORCHERON, 25 years-of-age, of Batchawana Bay was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Careless driving
  • Speeding

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on May 5, 2025 in Sault Ste. Marie. The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Mitchell ST MARSEILLE Was Arrested

(OTONABEE-SOUTH MONAGHAN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charged an individual with impaired driving after being stopped for speeding.

On Friday April 18, 2025, at approximately 11:00am, Peterborough County OPP Officers observed a vehicle travelling on Highway 7 in the township of Otonabee-South Monaghan, at a much higher rate of speed than the posted 80 km/hr zone. The officer obtained a speed reading of 126 km/hr in the 80 km/hr zone and conducted a traffic stop. The officer requested the driver submit to a Mandatory Alcohol Screening (MAS) and an Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand was read. The driver complied with the demand and provided a sample of their breath resulting in a reading of ‘FAIL’ at which point the driver was arrested. The accused was transported to the OPP detachment for further testing where they provided samples of their breath with readings being in excess of three times the legal limit.

Mitchell ST MARSEILLE (age 34) of Arnprior, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Operation while impaired

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had their drivers licence suspended for 90-days, and their vehicle impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on May 20, 2025

Jeremy RICHARDSON Was Arrested Again

(ASPHODEL-NORWOOD TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) recovered a stolen ATV and charged the individual caught operating it.

On Sunday April 20, 2025, a Peterborough County OPP officer was conducting general patrol on County Road 45 in the township of Asphodel-Norwood. The officer observed a four-wheel all terrain vehicle (ATV) approaching and attempted to stop the vehicle to speak with the driver. The driver of the ATV slowed as they came closer to the officer and then continued past regardless of the officer’s attempt to wave them down.

The officer while attempting to locate the ATV, was approached and provided information that led to the location of the driver who was inevitably arrested. During the investigation, it was determined that the ATV being operated was one that had been recently reported as stolen.

Jeremy RICHARDSON (age 44) of Keene, ON., was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Flight from Peace Officer
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code (two counts)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

Rash Of Break & Enters – Martin ENNS, Daniel NIEKOLEY & 3 Teenage Dirtbags Arrested #3Strikes

(PERTH EAST, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged Five individuals in connection to recent break and enters and property damage in the Township of Perth East.

On April 13th 2025, the OPP launched an investigation after receiving information of a rash of break and enters and property damage over the weekend including Churches and a school in Perth East.

As a result of the investigation Martin ENNS and Daniel NIEKOLEY as well as three youth’s whose identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA) have been charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

–      Break and Enter (Two Counts)

–      Mischief Under $5,000 (Three Counts)

In addition, two of the Youth’s were also charged with:

–      Theft Under $5,000

Jerald CORNELIUS – Drunk Driving

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after traffic stop.

On April 19, 2025, at 7:37 p.m., a member of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division (HSD), while travelling on Westminster Drive in the Municipality of Middlesex Centre, performed a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Jerald CORNELIUS, a 42-year-old of Southwold Township, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Highway Traffic Act, Cannabis Control Act and Liquor Licence Control Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Drive motor vehicle – no licence

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on May 19, 2025.

Ericka MELIN Was Arrested

(CLEARVIEW TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Huronia West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with impaired driving related charges because of a traffic tip.

On April 20, 2025, shortly after 10:00 p.m., Huronia West OPP officers responded to a traffic tip of a possible impaired driver in the Clearview Township.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle on Highway 26. During the interaction, officers formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by drugs, leading to an arrest. As a result of the investigation, Ericka MELIN, 30-year-old of Ottawa, was arrested and has been charged with the following:

·      Operation while Impaired – Drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Collingwood on June 3, 2025, to answer to the charges.

22 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(ONEIDA NATION OF THE THAMES FIRST NATION, ON) – Driver facing Impaired driving charge after traffic complaint.

On April 18, 2025, at 8:25 a.m., members of the Oneida Nation Police, were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a vehicle driving erratically on River Road in Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation.

The vehicle was located at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP Detachment.

As a result, Granger BROWN, a 22-year-old of Oneida Nation of the Thames First Nation, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 16, 2025.

Suspended Driver Arrested Following Collision

(MIDDLESEX CENTRE, ON) – Driver facing multiple charges, including impaired by drug, after two-vehicle collision in Kilworth.

On April 22, 2025, at 2:57 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Middlesex-London Paramedic Service and Middlesex Centre Fire were dispatched to the intersection of Glendon Drive and Kilworth Park Drive in Kilworth, Municipality of Middlesex Centre, for the report of a two-vehicle collision.

The driver of one of the involved vehicles fled the scene on foot prior to police arrival.

Shortly after, police were dispatched to Baron Crescent, not far from the scene for a suspicious person call. The individual was located by officers and was placed under arrest.

Due to injuries sustained in the collision, the individual was transported to hospital as a precaution.

The driver of the second vehicle was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle being operated by the accused was determined to have been stolen from an address in the Municipality of Strathroy-Caradoc.

As a result, Daniel BEAULIEU, a 35-year-old of Strathroy, has been charged under the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act with:

·      Operation while impaired – drugs

·      Dangerous operation

·      Failure to stop after accident

·      Unlawfully in Dwelling House

·      Poss of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 – in Canada

·      Theft Under $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused was held for bail.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered – 3 Arrested

(ESSA, ON) – As a result of an ongoing police investigation, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three individuals in relation to a stolen vehicle.

On April 19, 2025, at 1:00 a.m., Officers were conducting general patrols in the area of 11th Line for an unrelated call for service in Essa Township. Officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle determining that the driver was wanted with another police service.

Officers searched incident to arrest and observed the VIN number at the front windshield was also reported stolen out of Huronia West OPP Detachment.

Upon further investigation, all three accused parties were arrested and charged with the following:

Jonathan, GARWOOD 56-years-old of Barrie was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime
  • Use Plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
  • Drive with seat belt assembly inoperative
  • Operate unsafe vehicle
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Fail to surrender insurance card

Robert MERCER 56-years-old of Barrie was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime

Cameron MANCHESTER 22 -years-old of Severn Township was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime

The accused parties are to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a later date.

GOOSE Arrested For Donuts

(ATIKOKAN, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Atikokan have laid mischief charges after receiving a complaint about a pick-up truck doing donuts in a business parking lot.

On April 16, 2025, at approximately 6:00 pm, the Atikokan OPP received a complaint that a pick-up truck was doing donuts in a parking lot on MacKenzie Avenue in Atikokan.

Investigation determined that the driver’s actions had covered some parked vehicles with mud and dirt. The driver was taken into custody by responding officers.

James William GOOSE, 37-years-old, from Atikokan is charged with one count of mischief obstruct interrupt or interfere with lawful use of property.

The accused was released by police and has a first appearance in the Atikokan Ontario Court of Justice on May 29, 2025.

Repeat Offender Branden LANE Arrested Again

(DOURO-DUMMER TOWNSHIP, ON) – Officers from the Peterborough County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after receiving information they were breaching their release conditions.

On April 19, 2025, just prior to 6:30am, officers from the Peterborough County OPP received information that an individual currently on release conditions, was out when they shouldn’t be. Officers located the individual on Division Road, riding a motorcycle and attempted to stop vehicle which fled from them. A short while later, the vehicle was located at the side of the road but the driver was not with it.

Officers requested a K-9 unit to be dispatched to assist with locating the individual. Shortly after the search began, the individual in question was located hiding among the trees and officers arrested them.

Branden LANE (age 35) from Havelock, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Dangerous Operation

·      Flight from Peace Officer

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order

·      Operation while Prohibited

·      Failure to comply with Release Order

·      Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
