Johanna CAKE Charged With Fraud

(RIDEAU LAKES TOWNSHIP, ON) – The Leeds County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid fraud charges against the operator of a former cat rescue in the Elgin area of Rideau Lakes Township.

The lengthy investigation by the OPP and Animal Welfare Service began in October 2024 after complaints were received regarding the well-being of cats under the care of the rescue and irregularities related to donations and expenses.

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the Chief Executive Office of Eastern Ontario Cats was arrested. Johanna CAKE, age 33 of Rideau Lakes Township, has been charged with:

  • Fraud over $5000
  • Fraud under $5000 – two counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime
  • Obtaining by false pretence-over

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville on May 30, 2025.

Break & Enters – 3 Arrested

(KINGSVILLE, ON) – Three persons have been charged after a traffic stop in Kingsville.

On January 1, 2025, at approximately 12:52 a.m., members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) stopped a vehicle for license plate discrepancy on Heritage Road in the Town of Kingsville.

The traffic stop led to further investigation into previous break and enters and recovered stolen property. 

After completion of the investigation, three individuals were charged with various Criminal Code, Cannabis Control Act and Highway Traffic Act offences.

Thomas RENAUD-MOORE, 51-years-old of Kingsville, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Trespassing at Night
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Possession Break in Instruments
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Driving while under suspension
  • Drive motor vehicle, no permit
  • Use plate not authorized for vehicle
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

Peter CHORTOS, 56-years-old of Kingsville, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Possession Break in Instruments
  • Failure to comply with undertaking
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

Richard BUTTERY, 43-years-old of Kingsville, was arrested and charged with the following offences:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Possession Break in Instruments
  • Unauthorized Possession of Weapon

All the accused have been released from police custody scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice – Windsor to speak to the charges.

Samantha MCQUE Arrested Following Hit & Run

(CRAMAHE TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) charge driver after vehicle collision on Wednesday April 30, 2025.

At approximately 1:00 pm, Northumberland County Paramedics, Cramahe Township Fire Department, and the OPP responded to a single vehicle collision on County Road 21 near Walker Road. When emergency services arrived on scene a vehicle was found in the ditch on the south side of the roadway on its roof. The vehicle had hit a tree and caught on fire. The two occupants of the vehicle were located and transported to a nearby hospital with relatively minor injuries.

The driver Samantha MCQUE (age 31) of Campbellford Ontario, was arrested and has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences.

 – Dangerous operation causing bodily harm

 – Obstruct peace officer

 – Operation while prohibited

 – Fail to stop after accident.

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg on June 11, 2025.

Cocaine Bust – Name Released

(LITTLE CURRENT, ON) – One person has been charged after police conducted a traffic stop on an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at approximately 11:00 p.m., the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on an ATV on Highway 540 in Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation. An investigation was initiated when police determined that the ATV operator was a suspended driver, and as a result, an arrest was made.

Additionally, police seized an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $2,300.

The driver, Troy CRAWFORD, 31-years-old from Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands (NEMI) Township, was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Gore Bay on June 10, 2025.

Another Police Officer Arrested #FilmThePolice #FTP

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a member with the Thunder Bay Police Service (TBPS) in relation to an on-duty incident.

On Thursday, February 29, 2024, a TBPS vehicle was involved in a two-vehicle collision in the City of Thunder Bay. On Tuesday, July 2, 2024, the OPP was requested by the TBPS to investigate the incident.

On Monday, April 28, 2025, as a result of the investigation, Peter HAASE, age 37 of Thunder Bay, was charged with dangerous operation contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on May 28, 2025.

Questions related to the employment status of the accused should be directed to the TBPS.

Sharon URDZINS – Drunk Driving

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON)-  Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint, leading officers to charge a driver with impaired operation.

On April 30, 2025, shortly after 11:30 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Victoria Street East, in the Town of New Tecumseth. The vehicle was described as being operated in a concerning manner. Officers located the vehicle and met with the driver. During the interaction, grounds were formed that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol, leading to the driver’s arrest.  

As a result of the investigation, Sharon URDZINS 42-years-old of Alliston was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Having care or control of motor vehicle with liquor in open baggage
  • Possess more than one licence

The accused is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford on May 29, 2025, to answer to the charge. The driver’s licence was also suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle impounded for seven.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(HAVELOCK-BELMONT-METHUEN TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Peterborough County / Northumberland Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) arrested multiple individuals as a result of a drug trafficking investigation.

On Wednesday April 30, 2025, members of the Peterborough County/Northumberland CSCU executed a warrant at a residence in Havelock that was the subject of complaints from the community regarding drug activity. Upon entry, officers located ten individuals within the residence, all of which were immediately arrested. A search of the residence was conducted, and a quantity of drugs were located.

Amy ZINCK (age 44) of Havelock, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

·      Fail to comply Undertaking

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 3, 2025.

Timothy LOWES (age 39) of Havelock, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

·      Fail to comply with Probation Order – two counts

·      Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code – two counts

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 3, 2025.

David HUTLEY (age 48) of Stouville, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance – Methamphetamine

HUTLEY was also arrested on unrelated outstanding warrants and turned over to the Quinte West OPP.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough on June 3, 2025.

John FOOTE (age 61) of Peterborough, ON., was arrested and charged with;

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

·      Fail to comply with Release Order

The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.

As a result of the search, the following items were seized;

·      35 grams Crack Cocaine

·      20 grams Fentanyl

·      Digital scale

·      Two cell phones

·      Packaging materials

All others who were located at the residence were released unconditionally.

Adam COOK – Drunk Driving

(TEMISKAMING SHORES, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program in Temiskaming Shores resulted in the arrest of a driver.

On Sunday, April 27, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Temiskaming Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting a RIDE program in Temiskaming Shores when they stopped a vehicle on Cedar Avenue. Officers requested a breath sample using an Approved Screening Device (ASD).

The driver was arrested and transported to the Temiskaming detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Adam COOK, 31-years-of-age of Charlton, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Haileybury, on Tuesday, May 13, 2025.

James LARMON – Drunk Driving

(TAY VALLEY TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Tay Valley resident with impaired driving.

Officers responded to a single vehicle collision on Narrows Lock Road in Tay Valley Township on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, just after 5:30 p.m.

The officer, while conducting a traffic investigation, arrested and transported the individual to the Lanark Detachment in Perth for testing.

As a result of the investigation, James LARMON, age 36, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on May 26, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension), and the vehicle has been impounded for seven days.

22 Year Old Facing Drunk Driving Charge – 178 in an 80

(Harrowsmith, ON) – An impaired driver was arrested and charged after an officer stopped the vehicle for an excessive speed.  

A Frontenac OPP member was on patrol, on Road 38, south of Harrowsmith on May 01, 2025, when a vehicle traveling the opposite direction was locked on a radar unit traveling at a speed of 178 kms/h in a posted 80 kms/h zone. Just after 1:00 am the officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle, where the driver exhibited signs of alcohol use.

The driver was requested to provide a roadside breath test, which resulted in an arrest of the driver, who was taken to the Frontenac detachment for further breath testing.

A search of the vehicle found open liquor and cannabis.

William MACDONALD, a 22-year-old from Sydenham has been charged with:

  • Operation of a conveyance while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.
  • Dangerous operation
  • Drive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed.
  • Drive motor vehicle with unsealed container of liquor.
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

The driver was released from custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kingston, on June 10, 2025. They also had their drivers license suspended for 90 days and vehicle impounded for a period of 7 days.

The OPP would like to remind people that Impaired Driving is a serious threat to public safety. Highway safety is a team sport, do your part and plan a safe ride home.

Scott CARPENTIER Was Arrested

(DUFFERIN COUNTY) – Members of the Dufferin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Shelburne resident with impaired operation related offences as the result of a traffic complaint.

On April 27, 2025, at approximately 2:50 p.m., Dufferin OPP officers responded to a traffic complaint in the area of Centre Street in the Town of Shelburne. Upon arrival, officers made contact with a male driver, observed signs of impairment, and subsequently initiated an impaired driving investigation.

Scott CARPENTIER, a 61-year-old male, from Shelburne has been charged with:

•      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused individual is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville. Their driver’s licence was suspended, and their vehicle impounded.

New “Sheriff” In Town – Laura Lee BROWN

(HURON COUNTY, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has added a new face to their detachment. Recently promoted Inspector Laura Lee BROWN has been appointed to the position of Detachment Commander at the Huron Detachment in Clinton.

Inspector Brown has worked in various roles in Perth County, Wellington County, and most recently at West Region Headquarters in London. She brings a wide range of experience with her and is looking forward to working with the members of the Huron Detachment to ensure operations continue to run smoothly.

Douglas SCOTT Facing Numerous Charges

(LEAMINGTON/KINGSVILLE, ON) – Essex County OPP has charged an individual after a lengthy break and enter investigation in Kingsville and Leamington.

Essex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the Essex County Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) investigated eighteen “smash and grab” break and enters that occurred at various businesses between August 29, 2024, to January 13, 2025, in the Towns of Leamington and Kingsville.

As a result of the investigation, Douglas SCOTT a 38-year-old male of Wheatley, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence (two counts)
  • Break & Enter commit Theft (sixteen counts)
  • Mischief Under $5,000 (sixteen counts)
  • Possession of Break-In Instruments (eight counts)
  • Disguise with Intent (fourteen counts)

The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice to speak to the charges on June 27, 2025.

22 Year Old Repeat Offender From Listowel Arrested – Details Released

(NORTH PERTH, ON) – Perth County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with nine criminal offences after colliding with a police vehicle in the Municipality of North Perth.

On April 29, 2025, police responded to a call for a suspicious vehicle in the town of Listowel. Upon police arrival, the vehicle, which was identified as stolen, reversed into a police vehicle, before attempting to flee.

22-year-old Xavier RAITHBY of Listowel was charged with the following Criminal Code of Canada offences:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Flight from Police
  • Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order (Two Counts)

RAITHBY was further charged with the following Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Driving While Under Suspension (Two counts)

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on April 30th, 2025, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford.
