POLLETT & MEMNOOK – Impaired Driving

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Officers from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested two drivers simultaneously at a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check.

On Saturday, August 9, 2025, at approximately 1:15 a.m., the Manitoulin OPP were conducting a RIDE check on Highway 6 near Old Webbwood Road in Espanola, when two separate vehicles came through at nearly the same time.

The first vehicle was found to contain open alcohol. Following further investigation, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The second vehicle arrived shortly after, and a roadside breath test was administered using an Approved Screening Device (ASD). As a result, the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

The first driver, Shining Eagle MEMNOOK, 27-years-old from Massey, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol

The second driver, Kyle POLLETT, 27-years-old from Espanola, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor
  • Novice driver – B.A.C above zero

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on September 8, 2025.

This incident highlights the importance of RIDE checks and in promoting road safety. The fact that two drivers were arrested for impaired operation at the same RIDE check suggests that impaired driving continues to be a concern on our roads. Road safety initiatives and RIDE checks play an important role in identifying and addressing such risks before serious consequences occur. The OPP reminds the public that any amount of alcohol or drugs can impair your ability to operate a vehicle safely. Steven JACKO – Drunk Driving

(MARATHON, ON) – Members from the Marathon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation while conducting a RIDE program.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at approximately 11 p.m., officers were conducting a RIDE program on Peninsula Road. A driver entered the RIDE program and an investigation into impaired driving commenced. The driver was arrested and charged with Criminal Code, Liquor Licence Control Act, and Highway Traffic Act offences.

Steven JACKO, 37 years old of Heron Bay, was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Operation while impaired – B.A.C. 80 plus
  • Have Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Alcohol Readily Available
  • Class G1 Licence Holder – B.A.C. Over 0
  • Class G1 Licence Holder – Unaccompanied by Qualified Driver
  • Class G1 Licence Holder – Carrying Front Passenger

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Marathon on September 24, 2025. The driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

Samantha VERNON Facing Numerous Charges

(ORILLIA, ON) – A complaint of a suspicious vehicle has led to Criminal Code and Controlled Drugs and Substance Charges by the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

On August 12, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m, officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious vehicle with a driver slumped over at business on Monarch Drive in the City of Orillia. With assistance from an off-duty officer, the vehicle was turned off and the female driver removed until further uniformed officers arrived. Upon speaking with the driver, officers entered into an impaired investigation and ultimately formed grounds to arrest the driver. The accused was transported back to the Orillia Detachment for further testing by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE).

As result of the investigation Samantha VERNON, 39-year-old from Orillia, ON, was charged with the following:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Adult Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Other Drugs

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Opioid (other than Heroin)

·      Possession of a Schedule III Substance

·      Adult Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

·      Adult Use plate not authorized for vehicle

·      Adult Fail to notify change of name

The accused was released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date. Additionally, their driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days, and vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Joshua SEREDA Was Arrested

(THUNDER BAY, ON) – Throughout this summer, the Northwest Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (T.I.M.E.) team of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), in partnership with Conservation Officers from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF), has been conducting joint-enforcement marine patrols. The summer-long operation has included mandatory alcohol screening (M.A.S.) and fish inspections on local waterbodies of Thunder Bay, Gorham and Shebandowan, with specific patrols being focused on Dog Lake and Kashabowie Lake.

The goal is to educate both local residents and visiting tourists on the water in regard to boat safety and fishing regulations.

Furthermore, between August 9th and 10th, patrols were conducted on Shebandowan Lake, Two Island Lake, Surprise Lake and One Island Lakes where a multitude of infractions were observed among the boaters.

Again, as a result of these summer-long joint enforcement initiatives, officers are noticing a pattern in tickets being issued for:

  • Open liquor within a vessel;
  • Cannabis readily available;
  • Missing vessel safety equipment (Life jackets, flashlights, etc);
  • Depositing waste on public lands (Throwing beer cans in the lake);

Furthermore, on August 9th, 2025 at approximately 7:05 p.m., on Shebandowan Lake, Officers stopped a vessel to check for proper equipment and sobriety.

As a result of the investigation, it was determined that the vessel operator had been consuming alcoholic beverages, was placed under arrest & returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, Joshua SEREDA, 36, of Neebing, Ontario was charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus);
  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs;

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on September 10, 2025.

Robert WILKINSON – Impaired Operation

(MONTAGUE TWP, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Montague Township resident with impaired driving.

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, just after 3:30 a.m. Officers were on scene of a fire in Montague Township. A vehicle was observed driving poorly near the scene. The driver was spoken to, and the officers arrested the male and transported the individual to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Robert WILKINSON, 36-years-old, of Montague Township, ON, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, September 22, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Emma FLEGG – Impaired Driving

(CARLETON PLACE, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Richmond, ON resident with impaired driving.

Lanark County OPP observed a vehicle being driven poorly on Saturday, August 9, 2025, just after 7:30 p.m. Officers stopped the vehicle and after speaking with the female driver, the officers arrested the driver and transported the individual to the OPP detachment in Carleton Place for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Emma FLEGG, 31-years-old, of Richmond, ON, has been charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, September 15, 2025.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Sean MCNAUGHTON Arrested Following Hit & Run

(Huntsville, ON) – Officers from the Huntsville Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver with impaired operation following a report of a fail to remain motor vehicle collision in the Town of Huntsville.

On August 10, 2025, at approximately 3:22 p.m., Huntsville OPP responded to reports of a motor vehicle that struck a fence at McCulley-Robertson Sports Complex on Williams Street in the Town of Huntsville. Police located the vehicle a short distance away and formed grounds that the driver’s ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol.

As a result Sean MCNAUGHTON, 30 years-old, of Huntsville was charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous operation

·      Fail to remain

·      Have care or control of vehicle with cannabis readily available

·      Have care or control of motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day license suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on September 16th, 2025.

Crystallee HOLLIHAN Was Arrested Again

(NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – As a result of an ongoing police investigation, members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), have arrested and charged an individual in connection to a fraud investigation.

On August 12 2025, shortly after 12:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to a fraud incident located at 4 King Street North, in Alliston. The complainant advised officers that they believed a customer was attempting to open a bank account with fraudulent documents.

Upon further investigation it was determined that the individual was attempting to open a bank account with a fraudulent ID and fraudulent social insurance card. One female was arrested and found to be in possession of several other pieces of identification that did no belong to her.

As a result Crystallee HOLLIHAN 39-years-old from Scarborough was charged with the following :

  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Use, deals, acts on forged document- Two counts
  • Possession of an identity document- Four counts
  • Attempt  to commit an indictable offence

The accused has been held for bail and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice at a later tome to answer to the charges.

Brandon SHARPE Was Arrested Again

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating an assault and theft that took place on Raglan Street South, in the Town of Renfrew.

On Sunday, August 10, 2025, at approximately 5:00 p.m., Renfrew OPP received reports that two males attended a residence, assaulted the victim and stole their bike.

As a result of the investigation, Brandon SHARPE, age 29 of Renfrew was charged with:

·      Assault

·      Uttering threats- cause death or bodily harm

·      Fail to comply with probation order

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on September 17, 2025.

The second suspect is still outstanding. Police are asking for the publics assistance to help identify this individual.

26 Year Old Charged Following Rollover

(GUELPH-ERAMOSA TWP, ON) – Motor vehicle attempting to pass others on road, loses control and rolls into ditch, resulting in charges.

On August 12, 2025, at approximately 5:45 p.m., the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside local emergency services, responded to a report of a rollover off Wellington Road 26, within Guelph-Eramosa Township.

Upon arrival, a motor vehicle was observed in a ditch, with all occupants safely outside. It was alleged that the driver had been attempting to pass other motor vehicles in an unsafe manner when they lost control and veered off the roadway, resulting in a rollover and minor, non-life-threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 26-year-old of Fergus is charged under the Highway Traffic Act with:

  • Careless driving
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

No other nearby motor vehicles on the roadway were damaged.

John PINIOTES Was Arrested Again

(GREY HIGHLANDS, ON)- On August 12, 2025, at approximately 11:34 p.m., members of the Grey Bruce Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a possible impaired driver in the area of Grey Road 4 and Concession 2 in Grey Highlands. The vehicle, a black Dodge Ram pickup, was reportedly driving erratically and swerving across lanes.

Police later located a vehicle matching the description and attempted a traffic stop. The driver failed to comply and fled from police before crashing. The lone occupant was taken into custody without further incident. The driver sustained minor injury. No injuries to officers or damage to police vehicles were reported.

Grey Road 4 was temporarily closed between Highway 10 and West Back Line for several hours and has since re-opened.

John PINIOTES, 41-years-old, of Mississauga, has been charged with the following Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act offences:

  • Fail to comply with release order (Three Counts) Criminal Code
  • Flight from peace officer – Criminal Code
  • Dangerous operation – Criminal Code
  • Operation while prohibited (Two Counts) – Criminal Code
  • Driving while under suspension (Four Counts) – Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 13, 2025 for a bail hearing.

2 More Impaired Drivers – KIROLLOS & DOYLE

(MIDLAND, ON)- Two separate impaired driving investigations over the weekend by OPP, one by alcohol, one by drugs point to the fact that driving while impaired by drug or alcohol or both is impaired driving.

An officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while on patrol at approximately 10:46 p.m. August 9, 2025, came across a vehicle parked in a retail parking lot of Heritage Drive, Midland with a lone occupant who upon checking had a quantity of cannabis readily available. A further investigation led the officer to enter into an impaired by drug investigation and transported the driver to detachment for further investigation with the assistance of an OPP officer trained as a drug recognition expert (DRE).

As a result of this investigation 41 year old Meina KIROLLOS of Ajax has been charged criminally with Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on September 4, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

At 2:16 a.m. August 9, 2025, officers on patrol tended to a vehicle that was attempting to reverse out of a retail parking lot on Hugel Avenue, Midland upon the officers approach. The lone occupant was spoken to by officers and a drinking and driving investigation was commenced resulting in a further investigation at Detachment.

As a result, 31 year old Luke DOYLE of Tay Township has been charged criminally with the offences of Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and further with Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on September 21, 2025, and was also served a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved vehicle was towed and subject to a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

OPP Shoot & Kill Suspect Fleeing On Foot – SIU Inovkes Silence & Mandate #FilmThePolice

(TURKEY POINT, ON) – The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate following an incident in Turkey Point.

On Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., members of the Norfolk County Marine Unit of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a boater, who entered a marina and fled on foot.

Officers with the OPP Emergency Response Team and the Canine Unit located the individual. During the interaction, police discharged their firearm. The individual was pronounced deceased.

As the SIU has invoked its mandate, the OPP will not be able to provide further information.

Gabrielle CARTHY – Theft

(RENFREW, ON) – The Renfrew Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a theft from a business on Raglan St. South, in the Town of Renfrew.

On Thursday, August 7, 2025, at approximately 10:50 a.m., Renfrew OPP witnessed a person fleeing from a store on foot and was being chased by store employees.

Police located the individual and formed grounds for an arrest.

As a result of the investigation, Gabrielle CARTHY age 23 of Renfrew was charged with two counts of theft under $5000- shoplifting.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on September 17, 2025.

$14,000 Drug Bust – Names Released

(ESPANOLA, ON) – Five people are facing charges following the execution of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant in the Town of Webbwood.

On Tuesday, July 29, 2025, members of the North East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), with assistance from the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), executed a CDSA search warrant at a residence on First Street in the Town of Webbwood.

As a result of the search, officers seized amounts of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine, with a total estimated street value of $14,000. Additionally, police seized a camping trailer, a boat and a motor, all believed to be stolen.

As a result of the investigation, Hugh FOSTER, 46-years-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, was charged with:

  • Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with release order – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 14, 2025.

Additionally, Justin FOSTER, 42-years-old from Sagamok Anishnawbek First Nation, was charged with:

  • Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order
  • Failure to comply with release order
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 14, 2025.

Further, Deborah BENOIT, 69-years-old from Webbwood, was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – other drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Espanola on September 22, 2025.

Additionally, Trevor MIDDLETON, 52-years-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, was charged with:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – other drugs
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on August 14, 2025.

Further, Christopher NEVILLE, 34-years-old from Sables-Spanish Rivers Township, was charged with:

  • Possession of ammunition contrary to prohibition order – two counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with probation order
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose – two counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a weapon – two counts
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – opioid
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid
