Salvy TAGLIANINI – Fraud

(MANITOULIN ISLAND, ON) – A complex, multi-agency investigation led by the Manitoulin Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Crime Unit has resulted in the arrest of one individual in connection with a major cyber financial fraud.

On October 28, 2024, the Manitoulin OPP received a report of a fraud involving the loss of a substantial sum of money. Due to the scope and complexity of the fraud, the investigation was conducted with support from several agencies including the OPP Anti-Rackets Branch (ARB), the Nipissing West OPP Crime Unit, the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) Bahamas Liaison.

On Thursday, January 22, 2026, a person was arrested with assistance from the Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit, Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), and La Sûreté du Québec.

Salvy TAGLIANINI, 54-years-old from Saint-Placide, Quebec, was charged with:

  • Fraud over $5,000
  • Laundering Proceed of Crime

The accused appeared before the Ontario Court of Justice Bail Court and was remanded into custody. The accused is scheduled to appear before court today, February 9, 2026.

Sebastien RENAUD Arrested For Being Impaired After Alleged Incident

(MATHESON, ON) – On Monday, February 2, 2026, at approximately 11:15 p.m., members of the Iroquois Falls Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to call from a stranded motorist.

Police determined that the driver had a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) that exceeded the legal limit and that they had driven within the past two hours.  

As a result, Sebastien RENAUD, 44 years of age, of Matheson, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). 

The accused is schedule to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins, on March 9, 2026, to answer to the charge.

The driver was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Meth Bust – FOWLER & GRUMM

(FORT FRANCES, ON) – Members of the Fort Frances Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Treaty Three Police Service have arrested and charged three individuals with drug related offences.

On February 3rd, 2026, members of the Rainy River District OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) with assistance from the Kenora Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) and Treaty Three Police Street Crime Unit executed a search warrant in Fort Frances. 

As a result of the search, Police seized a quantity of methamphetamine, Canadian currency, and evidence of drug trafficking. The estimated street value of the drugs and cash seized is approximately $8,000.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old youth from Toronto has been charged under the Criminal Code with

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

–      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.00

–      Obstruct peace officer

Melinda GRUMM, age 53 of Fort Frances has been charged with

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

Dana FOWLER, age 49 of Fort Frances has been charged with

–      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances at a later date.

Lakshmi KILIMI – Drunk Driving

(LONDON, ON) – Driver facing impaired charge after traffic stop.

On February 7, 2026, at 3:19 p.m., a member of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) while travelling in the westbound lanes of Highway 401 near Highbury Avenue in the City of London, observed a suspicious vehicle, at which time a traffic stop was initiated.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Middlesex OPP detachment.

As a result, Lakshmi KILIMI, a 36-year-old of London, has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Dangerous operation

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in London on March 24, 2026, to speak to the charges.

The Middlesex OPP wants to remind the public that if you see anything suspicious or suspect an impaired driver you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police or your nearest police authority immediately.

Adam HANSFORD Was Arrested

(THAMES CENTRE, ON) – Suspicious vehicle leads to multiple charges for driver.

On February 7, 2026, at 3:19 p.m., members of the Middlesex County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a business at 2300 Dorchester Road, in the Municipality of Thames Centre, for the report of a suspicious vehicle.  

Police located the stationary vehicle, at which time the driver was placed under arrest.

A search of the vehicle revealed illicit drugs, suspected to be cocaine, as well as a prohibited device.

As a result, Adam HANSFORD, a 35-year-old of Dorchester, has been charged under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and Liquor Licence Act with:

·      Obstruct Peace Officer

·      Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

·      Poss of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine

·      Having care or control of a motor vehicle with open container of liquor

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in London on March 20, 2026, to speak to the charges.

3 More Impaired Drivers

(ADJALA-TOSORONTIO, ON) (NEW TECUMSETH, ON) – Members of the Nottawasaga Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged three more impaired drivers in three separate occurrences this weekend after conducting R.I.D.E programs and responding to a motor vehicle collision.

On February 8th, 2026, shortly after 4:30 p.m., police were conducting a R.I.D.E program on County Road 13 in Adjala-Tosorontio Township when a driver at the R.I.D.E was suspected of being impaired. An impaired investigation began and the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

On February 9th, 2026, shortly before 12:30 a.m. the Nottawasaga OPP received a call for service reporting that a south bound vehicle on Sideroad 10 in New Tecumseth had ended up in the ditch, and the driver had walked away from the vehicle. The driver was located and arrested for impaired operation.

On February 9th, 2026, at approximately 1:00 a.m., police were conducting a R.I.D.E program on Sideroad 10 in New Tecumseth when a driver at the R.I.D.E was asked to pull over to the side of the road. The driver began to continue driving through the R.I.D.E. The driver was stopped and was suspected of being impaired. An impaired investigation began and the driver was arrested for impaired operation.

As a result of the investigations, the first driver, Kenneth BALL, a 40-year-old of Etobicoke has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

The driver of the second investigation, Jeffrey DA SILVA, a 39-year-old of New Tecumseth has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

The driver of the third investigation, Daniel BEAUCHEMIN, a 39-year-old of New Tecumseth has been charged with:

• Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

• Failure or refusal to comply with demand

• Having care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

• Have care or control of vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available

• Disobey officer directing traffic

• Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit

All three accused parties had their drivers licence suspended for 90 days, had their vehicles impounded for 7 days and were released on a Form 10 Undertaking with a future court date at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bradford to answer to the charges.

Cody BUTLER Was Arrested

(SEGUIN, ON) – The West Parry Sound Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged one person with multiple offences.

On February 6, 2026, at approximately 8:00 p.m. the West Parry Sound OPP were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) check on Highway 141 in the Village of Rosseau. Officers stopped a vehicle and spoke with the driver; further investigation revealed the driver to have a suspended licence.

Cody BUTLER, 25 years-of-age of Rosseau was charged with:

  • Driving while under suspension – two counts
  • Novice driver – B.A.C above zero

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Parry Sound on March 17, 2026. The accused was also issued a 7-day Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS), and the vehicle was impounded.

Jake O’SHAUGHNESSY – Armed Robbery, Assault, Etc.

(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) – One person remains in custody following incident in Arthur.

On February 5, 2026, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), alongside the West Region Emergency Response Team and the West Region Canine Unit, received a report of an altercation that occurred two days prior on January 3, 2026, at an address on Tucker Street in Arthur.

As a result of the investigation, Jake O’SHAUGHNESSY, a 31-year-old from Arthur, is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Robbery with a weapon
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Break and enter house – commit indictable offence
  • Assault
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than attend court
  • Breach of Recognizance

One victim sustained minor non-life-threatening injuries.

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Bilal KAHN – Impaired Driving

(PERTH, ON) – The Lanark County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Toronto resident with impaired driving.

On Sunday, February 8, 2026, Lanark County OPP officers received a complaint of a possible impaired driver leaving a business in Perth. Officers located the vehicle just after 12:00 a.m. in the parking lot of another business and conducted a traffic stop.

The driver was arrested and transported to the OPP Detachment in Perth for testing.

As a result of the investigation, Bilal KAHN, 32-years-old, has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – alcohol

·        Drive while suspended

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Perth on Monday, March 9, 2026.

The individual’s driver’s licence has been suspended for 90 days (Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension), and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

Another Fatal Snowmobile Collision

(KAPUSKASING, ON) – The Kapuskasing Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal snowmobile collision in Kapuskasing.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:30 p.m., members of the Kapuskasing Detachment OPP responded to a report of a single snowmobile collision on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) Trail L123 near the intersection of Stephens Road and Swanson Road in Kapuskasing.

The driver, a 67-year-old male of Ingersoll, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.

OFSC Trail L123 was closed between Trail L137 and Trail L143 for the investigation, and the trail has since reopened.

Mohid KASHIF Was Arrested

(PETAWAWA, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one individual and seized a prohibited firearms magazine following the execution of a search warrant in the Town of Petawawa.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 11:00 a.m., members of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), with assistance from the East Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), executed a warrant at a residence on Paardeburg Boulevard.

Mohid KASHIF, 22 years old of Petawawa, has been charged with possession of a prohibited device or ammunition for a dangerous purpose, contrary to section 88 of the Criminal Code.

The ongoing investigation is being carried out by North East Region OPP, and East Region OPP Crime Units under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 8, 2026.

Fatal Snowmobile Collision In Kearney

(KEARNEY, ON) – The Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is currently investigating a fatal snowmobile collision in Kearney.

On February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., Almaguin Highlands OPP officers responded to a report of a single snowmobile collision into a tree on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Club (OFSC) Trail AL301 in Kearney.

The driver, a 51-year-old male of Whitby, Ontario, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionists (TCI) are assisting with the investigation.

OFSC Trail AL301 was closed at the intersection of OFSC D Trail for the investigation, and the trail has since reopened.

Male Located Deceased Following Fire

(GREATER NAPANEE, ON) – One person is deceased after a house fire in Napanee.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, shortly before 9:30 p.m. members of the Lennox and Addington County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to the scene on Switzerville Road.

Napanee firefighters were already battling the fire and reported that people were potentially trapped in the house.

Two men, aged 59 and 34, were able to escape from the home. The 59-year-old man had jumped from a second-floor balcony to escape the smoke and flames. He was transported to hospital in critical condition. The 34-year-old was not seriously hurt.

A 65-year-old male was unaccounted for. All three men were residents of the home.

Human remains were located inside the residence by firefighters. A postmortem examination will be conducted to confirm the identity.

Firefighters remained on the scene overnight and the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the blaze.

Fatal Collision North Of Clinton

(CENTRAL HURON, ON) – Members of the Huron County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a fatal collision on Base Line in The Municipality of Central Huron, just north of the Town of Clinton.  

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, at approximately 2:00 p.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a pickup truck and a van on Base Line between Lobb Road and Dutch Line.

As a result of the collision, all four occupants of the van were transported to hospital. One occupant, a 38-year-old female from Exeter, was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the van remains in hospital with serious injuries. The two remaining occupants sustained minor injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The investigation remains ongoing with assistance from the OPP Technical Collision Investigators and Reconstructionist. Base Line was closed for several hours while emergency crews and investigators were on scene, but it has since reopened.

4 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(BRACEBRIDGE, ON) – The Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged four more drivers with impaired driving this week.

On Saturday January 31, 2026 at 8:15 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about a possible impaired driver on Wellington Street and Monck Road in Bracebridge. Officers located the vehicle in a nearby commercial parking lot and subsequently arrested and charged 45-year-old Nicholas ARBOUR of Courtland, ON with Impaired Operation and Over 80. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 10, 2026 to answer to his charges.

On Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 6:00 p.m., officers responded to a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Dill Street at Wellington Street in Bracebridge. As a result of their investigation into the collision, police arrested and charged 45-year-old Christopher BROWN of Bracebridge, ON with Impaired Operation and Over 80. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 10, 2026 to answer to his charges.

On Friday, February 6, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. police responded to a concern from a member of the public about the condition of a driver in a commercial parking lot located on Muskoka Road South in Gravenhurst. Officers located the vehicle travelling on Bethune Drive, conducted a traffic stop and subsequently arrested and charged 31-year-old Christopher GARBOS of Toronto, ON with Failure/Refusal to Comply with Demand (Breath), Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor, along with several Highway Traffic Act and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act offenses. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 24, 2026 to answer to his charges.

On Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 4:20 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about the condition of a driver who had left a residence in Huntsville. Officers located the vehicle travelling on Highway 11 South near Taylor Road in Bracebridge and subsequently arrested and charged 45-year-old David HILL of Lynden, ON with Impaired Operation, Over 80 and Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 17, 2026 to answer to his charges.
