Jan DaSilva – Impaired Operation

(NORWICH, ON) – A traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver has resulted in multiple charges.

On November 20, 2025, at approximately 1:00 a.m., members of the Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver, on Highway 59 and Potters Road in Norwich Township.

Upon locating the vehicle, officers attempted a traffic stop. The vehicle failed to stop and fled from police. Through investigation, police later located the occupant at a business in Norwich.

Jan DaSilva, 24-years-old of Cambridge, has been charged with:

·      Flight from Peace Officer

·      Dangerous Operation

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Drug Concentration

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on December 16, 2026.

Nicole Narine – Drunk Driving

(CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES, ON) – Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation after being called to a single vehicle rollover on Opmar Road.

On Tuesday October 28, 2025 at approximately 9:41 pm, officers were called to Opmar Road for a single vehicle rollover where the driver was trapped in their vehicle. The driver was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries and was arrested and charged with impaired driving related offences under the Criminal Code of Canada.

Nicole Narine, 22-year-old of Norwich was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers licence was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

This is the seventh impaired driver the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP have arrested and charged in October, with the Blue Jays in the final games of the World Series officers are reminding drivers to find alternative ways home if they are consuming alcohol or drugs.

3 Dead Following Collision

(NORWICH, ON) –   A two-vehicle collision has claimed three lives.

On October 24, 2025, at approximately 4:00 p.m., members of the Oxford and Norfolk Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachments, Paramedic Services and Fire Services responded to a collision on Mall Road, between Oxford Road 13 and Middletown Line.

Upon arrival, emergency services located Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) a pick-up truck that had collided.

Both passengers of the SUV were transported to a local area hospital with serious life-threatening injuries and were pronounced deceased. The 75-year-old driver of the SUV was airlifted to a London Hospital and was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the pickup truck was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the collision remains under investigation. OPP West Region Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement Team are continuing to assist with the investigation. Mall Road between Oxford Road 13 and Middletown Line was closed for several hours to allow for investigation and has since reopened.

Steve Moniz – Drunk Driving

(TOWNSHIP OF SOUTH-WEST OXFORD, ON) – An individual from the Norwich Township is facing impaired driving related charges after police received a traffic complaint regarding a possible impaired driver.

On September 20, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m., the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driving, near Broadway Road and Quarter Town Line, in the Town of Tillsonburg. Officers subsequently located the vehicle in the same area.

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Isaak BUECKERT – Impaired Driving

 (NORWICH, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment detected an impaired driver while on general patrol.

On September 13, 2025, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of Oxford OPP initiated a traffic stop while on general patrol on Simcoe Street in the Township of Norwich.

As a result of the investigation, Isaak BUECKERT, a 39-year-old resident of Tillsonburg, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on October 28, 2025.

Police want to remind the public that no amount of alcohol or drugs is safe to consume prior to operating a vehicle.

Alicia BRYAN – Impaired Operation

 (NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment arrested a driver, for impaired driving, as the result of a R.I.D.E. check in Norwich Township.

On August 31, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m., Oxford OPP set up a Reduced Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check on Highway 59 in Norwich Township.

As a result, Alicia BRYAN a 37-year-old resident of Norfolk County, has been charged with:

  • Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on October 7, 2025.

R.I.D.E. programs are set up at various locations during the day and night. They continue to prove to be helpful in getting impaired drivers off Oxford County roadways.

Tyler OVERBEEK Was Arrested

 (NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment responded to a single vehicle collision, resulting in one person being charged with multiple charges.

On July 25, 2025, at approximately 6:00 p.m., members of Oxford OPP were dispatched to a collision on Middletown Line in Norwich Township.

As a result of the investigation, Tyler OVERBEEK, a 24-year-old resident of Norwich, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Drive with Handheld Device

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on September 9, 2025.

John BOLTON Was Arrested

 (NORWICH, ON) – A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) check point in Norwich Township results in charges.

On July 20, 2025, at approximately 10:45 p.m., members of the Oxford detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) set up a R.I.D.E. check point on Stover Street in Norwich.

A driver who entered the check point displaying signs of impairment failed a roadside Approved Screening Device (A.S.D.) test.

As a result of the investigation, John BOLTON, a 42-year-old resident of Courtland, has been charged with:

  • Failure to Comply with a Demand
  • Novice Driver Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC) 80 plus
  • Drive with a Handheld Communication Device

 The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on August 26, 2025.

Hit & Run – Austin BRISSON Arrested

(NORWICH TOWNSHIP, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Oxford Detachment responded to a single vehicle collision, resulting in one person being charged with multiple charges.

On July 19, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of Oxford OPP were dispatched to a collision at the intersection of Highway 59 and Salford Road in Norwich Township.

As a result of the investigation, Austin BRISSON, a 26-year-old resident of Kitchener, has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Fail to Remain

The accused has been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on August 26, 2025.

22 Year Old Arrested For Drunk Driving

(NORWICH, ON) – An individual from the Paris is facing impaired driving related charges after a vehicle entered the ditch.

On May 4, 2025, at approximately 4:00 a.m., the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to a vehicle in the ditch, on Highway 2, in the Township of Norwich. Officers attended and observed a single motor vehicle collision had occurred. There were no reported injuries.

Ethan Crozier, 22-years-old, of Paris, has been charged with:  

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on June 17, 2025.

Frans Versteeg Was Arrested – Details Released

(NORWICH, ON) – An individual from the Township of Norwich is facing impaired driving related charges after a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) had tipped over after entering the ditch.

On May 3, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to a report of a CMV in the ditch that had tipped over on Highway 59, in the Township of Norwich.

Frans Versteeg, 39-years-old, of the Township of Norwich, has been charged with:  

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

Ditching E-Bike Results In An Impaired Charge

(NORWICH, ON) – An individual from Tillsonburg is facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from an incident where an e-bike had gone into the ditch.

On March 13, 2025, at approximately 8:00 p.m., members of the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were on dispatched to Oxford Road 13 in the Town of Norwich for a report of an e-bike that had entered the ditch.  

Officers attended and spoke to the driver of the e-bike.

Mark Deknibber, 65-years-old, of the Town of Tillsonburg, has been charged with:  

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

There were no reported injuries because of this collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on April 22, 2025.
