(NAIRN-HYMAN TOWNSHIP, ON)- An investigation conducted by the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) results in a seizure of drugs and a handgun.
On Thursday June 26, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., CSCU with the assistance from the Manitoulin OPP detachment conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 in Nairn-Hyman Township.
As a result of the investigation, police made an arrest, located and seized approximately 253 grams of suspected cocaine and 38 suspected Percocet tablets with an estimated street value $ 25,500, a Glock 19X handgun with an over capacity magazine and drug paraphernalia.
Hanad AHMED, 30-years-old, from St Catherines was charged with:
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
 - Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
 - Knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm
 - Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition
 - Occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm
 - Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – two counts
 - Breach of Firearms Regulations-transport firearm or restricted weapon
 - Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-cocaine
 - Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking-Opioid (other than heroin)
 
The accused remains in custody and scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sudbury on Thursday July 10, 2025.
