Break & Enter – Clayton ARCH & Kayla SANDY

(MIDLAND, ON) –  Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call at approximately 10:24 a.m. of a possible break and enter reported at 10:21 a.m. to the apartments above a King Street retail store.

Upon arrival of officers, entry was made to the unsecured apartment and two lethargic and passed out individuals were located in the apartment.

The individuals known to police were arrested and transported to detachment for processing.

Charged criminally is Clayton ARCH 42 years of Midland with the following offences.

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
  • Theft Under $5,000 from a Motor Vehicle

Also charged criminally is Kayla SANDY 28 years of no fixed address Midland with the following offences.

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Fentanyl

Both accused persons were released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on January 23, 2024.

Clayton ARCH – Theft

(MIDLAND,ON) – An officer from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment while investigating a previously reported shoplifting incident at the Midland LCBO made an arrest after a patron left the store with unpaid for liquor.

The officer arrested and recovered a number of bottles of unpaid for liquor from Clayton ARCH 42 years of Midland at 1:33 p.m. December 19, 2024.

The accused was held for bail court on the following charges of

  • Theft Under $5000- SHOPLIFTING
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada

and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  at a later date.

Braeden BEAUDOIN – Break & Enter, Theft, Etc.

(MIDLAND, ON) –  Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a burglary alarm within minutes at the Elegant Gourmet business on King Street Midland as it became the victim of a break and enter at approximately 5:33 a.m. December 19, 2024.

Upon arrival of officers, a suspect was located within the business who had lacerated a hand in the process of entering the business. The arrested suspect was triaged at the scene by Simcoe County Paramedic Services and transported to Detachment for processing.

Charged criminally is Braeden BEAUDOIN 25 years of no fixed address Orillia with the following offences.

  • Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Possession Break In Instruments
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on January 30, 2025

Jamie Paul DUBE – Break & Enter, Theft, Etc.

(MIDLAND,ON) – A sharp eyed officer from the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment made an arrest solving an overnight break and enter to a popular Midland restaurant.

Officers were dispatched at approximately 2:39 a.m. December 11, 2024 to a report of an entry alarm at Mom’s Restaurant on Pillsbury Drive, Midland. Although the officers attended the scene promptly the suspect had fled the scene after smashing the front glass entry door. Video surveillance provided the officers with suspect descriptors and at 9:30 a.m. December 11, 2024 an OPP officer patrolling on William Street observed an individual matching the suspect descriptors. When the officer approached, a foot pursuit ensued resulting in an arrest of the suspect.

Charged in connection to this investigation is Jamie Paul DUBE 43 years of Tay Township with the following criminal code offences.

  • Break, Enter a place – commit indictable offence
  • Mischief – destroys or damages property
  • Theft Under $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Resist Peace Officer

The accused remains custody awaiting a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  at a later date.

Theft of Snowmobile Results in Numerous Charges for Midland Resident

(MIDLAND,ON) – The report of a theft of a snowmobile from a William Street Midland address has resulted in a number of criminal charges for a Midland resident.

Members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded to the reported theft at approximately 8:42 a.m. December 11, 2024 of a red ski-doo from a William Street parking lot.

Through investigation, officers were able to locate and recover the stolen snowmobile and made an arrest in connection to the investigation.

Charged is Alexander WOZNICA 33 years of Midland with the following offences.

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada
  • Theft Under $5,000 of a Motor Vehicle
  • Take Motor Vehicle Without Consent

And Further with the Provincial Offence of

  • Driving while under suspension

.The accused was arrested in the afternoon of December 11, 2024 and has been released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on January 16, 2025.

Weapons Seized – Names Released

(MIDLAND, ON) Two individuals are facing charges, one for weapons and one for impaired driving, as a result of a driving complaint received from a member of the public in Midland last evening.

On December 10, 2024 at about 6:30 p.m., members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) received a report of a vehicle crossing the centre line and driving erratically. A description and licence plate of the suspect vehicle was provided and officers began searching the area where it was last seen. Officers located the vehicle in a shopping centre parking lot on Highway 12 in the Town of Midland.

Officers approached the vehicle and noticed that the driver was interacting with an driver of another vehicle, parked next to each other. Officers spoke with individual in the vehicle suspected of driving erratically. It was learned that the driver was wanted on an warrant therefore they were placed under arrest. During the arrest procedure, it was noticed that the driver was displaying signs of impairment and drug paraphernalia was located inside the vehicle. They were also arrested for impaired operation and were transported to detachment for a Drug Recognition Evaluation.

While speaking with the the driver of the first vehicle, officers’ attention was drawn to the driver in the adjacent vehicle. Officers observed open cannabis packaging in clear view and smelled the odour of fresh cannabis. The driver was identified and was also wanted on a warrant therefore they were placed under arrest. During a search of the vehicle, police located an axe, a baton and a quantity of ammunition within reach of the driver. During a further search of the vehicle, a modified shotgun was located and seized.

As a result of this investigation, Bailey CROSSMAN, 25 years of Dunchurch, ON, faces the following charges contrary to the Criminal Code and Cannabis Control Act:

  • Possession of Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
  • Possession of an Unauthorized Firearm
  • Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
  • Occupant of Motor Vehicle Knowing there was a Firearm
  • Have Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Cannabis in Open Original Packaging
  • Have Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Cannabis Readily Available

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 11, 2024.

Also facing the following charge contrary to the Criminal Code is, Breeze JANTZI, 29 years of Mactier, ON:

  • Operation While Impaired by Drug

The accused party was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on January 2, 2025. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s licence of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded 7 days.

More Impaired Drivers #TissTheSeason

(MIDLAND, ON) On November 24, 2024 at 4:12am, members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were called to a residence on Yonge Street in Midland because an individual was causing a disturbance in front of of the home. The person left the area in a motor vehicle prior to police arrival. There were concerns that the driver may have been under the influence of alcohol therefore officers patrolled the area, searching for the vehicle.

Approximately 20 minutes later, a vehicle matching the description provided was observed on Yonge Street in Midland. The driver made several quick turns and was driving erratically in an apparent attempt to elude police. The vehicle was stopped on Manly Street and while speaking with the driver, signs of alcohol consumption were noted. The driver provided a breath sample into a roadside screening device and was arrested as a result. The individual was transported to detachment to provide further breath samples.

As a result of this investigation, Cameron Hook, 32 years of Midland, was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act:

  • Dangerous Operation
  • Operation over 80 Milligrams
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero
  • Driving While Under Suspension

(GEORGIAN BAY TOWNSHIP, ON) On November 24, 2024 at 5:50am, Southern Georgian Bay OPP members were dispatched to a report of an impaired driver who left an address in Orillia and was possibly heading toward Highway 400.

Officers patrolled the highway and located a vehicle matching the description parked at a highway rest stop on Lone Pine Road in Georgian Bay Township. A lone individual was inside and sleeping behind the wheel. It took several minutes to wake the driver and officers immediately noted the signs of alcohol consumption once the door was opened. The individual was placed under arrest and transported to detachment to provide breath samples.

As a result of this investigation, Austin Williams, 26 years of Mactier, Ontario is charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation Over 80 Milligrams

(PENETANGUISHENE, ON) On November 24, 2024 at 7:30 p.m., Southern Georgian Bay OPP members responded to a collision which occurred on private property on Hunter Road in Penetanguishene. 

Upon arrival, officers began investigating the collision and learned that a driver drove into a parked car then entered a nearby residence. Police approached the home and spoke with the driver who was displaying obvious signs of impairment. He was placed under arrest and was transported to detachment to provide breath samples.

As a result of this investigation, Donald Deschamps,  63 years of Penetanguishene, Ontario, was charged with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code and Highway Traffic Act:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation Over 80 Milligrams
  • Failure to Stop after Accident
  • Fail to Report Accident

All accused parties above were released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on December 12, 2024. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.

Cameron HOOK – Drunk Driving

(MIDLAND, ON) – As a result of an ongoing police investigation from earlier in the evening in the town of Midland , officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a Toyota Tundra pick up truck at the intersection of Colborne and Russell Streets, Midland at approximately 4:12 a.m. November 24, 2024.

Officers spoke with the driver and entered into an impaired driving investigation at the scene resulting in the following.

Cameron HOOK 32 years of Midland was arrested and charged with Dangerous operation, Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and further with Provincial Offences Act charges of -Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero, Driving while under suspension.

The accused was released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on December 12, 2024 and is also subject to a 90 day drivers licence suspension. The involved pick up truck was towed and is the subject of a 7 day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Brandon David HAMILTON Was Arrested Again

(MIDLAND,ON) – A series of vehicle entries followed by the unlawful use of stolen credit cards has resulted in numerous charges after a number of recent investigations by the OPP for a Midland resident.

Several members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded to calls from victims calling the OPP Communication Centre reporting unlawful vehicle entries followed by the unlawful use of credit cards removed from those entered vehicles. These occurrences were reported between November 12-20, 2024 ranging from locations on Fuller Avenue, Manly Street, Hugel Avenue, Bay Street, and Ellen Street all in the Town of Midland.

Through investigation of surveillance systems at numerous retail locations investigators have charged Brandon David HAMILTON 28 years of no fixed address Midland with the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order (nine counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada (four counts)
  • Use of Credit Card (four counts)

The accused was arrested on December 20, 2024 and has been released after a bail hearing to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on December 19, 2024.

Bryan FOX – Drunk Driving

(MIDLAND, ON)  An individual is facing impaired charges after driving a vehicle across the grass at an OPP detachment in Midland last night.

On November 16, 2024 at about 9:30pm, members of the Southern Georgian Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police(OPP) while on patrol, were passing the Highway 12 office, when they observed a full size pickup truck attempting to negotiate a route from a nearby hotel, across the lawns of the detachment as well as the neighboring car dealership. (see photo) The officers stopped the vehicle and spoke with the lone occupant who displayed strong signs of alcohol consumption. The individual was placed under arrest and was ushered inside the detachment to provide a breath sample. The results registered several times above the legal limit.

As a result of this investigation, Bryan FOX, 31 years of Parry Sound District, was charged with several Highway Traffic Act offences as well as the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation Over 80 Milligrams

The accused was released to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Midland on November 28, 2024. When charged with impaired driving, the driver’s license of the accused is suspended for 90 days and the vehicle they were operating is impounded for 7 days.

Martin MONAGUE Was Arrested Again

(MIDLAND,ON) – Three Christian Island residents escaped serious injury yesterday after the east bound Concession Road 12 of Tiny Township Jeep they were riding in crashed into the trees at the intersection of Overhead Bridge Road near 10:46 a.m. October 31, 2024.

Officers from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended the scene along with Simcoe County Paramedics and Tiny Township Fire Service attended the scene and triaged two of the occupants and transported them to an area hospital for treatment of minor injuries sustained in the crash.

An investigation into the crash was conducted and a on scene search resulted in the seizure of a quantity of drug paraphernalia leading into an impaired by drug investigation by the officers.

Charged in this investigation is the driver Martin MONAGUE 55 years of Christian Island with the following offences.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court

And Further with the following Provincial Offences of

  • Fail to surrender insurance card
  • Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
  • Class G1 licence holder – unaccompanied by qualified driver
  • Careless driving causing bodily harm

And Further with the Offence

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine contrary to the Controlled Drug and Substances Act

The accused was further arrested on a outstanding warrant held by an western Canada police service in connection to an ongoing investigation in that jurisdiction.

The accused was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

Devon ASSANCE 30 years of Christian Island who was a passenger in the vehicle was arrested on outstanding warrants held by a neighboring police service in connection to an ongoing investigation in that jurisdiction. The accused was released from OPP custody to the care and custody of the involved police service.

The third occupant in the vehicle, a 57 year old male was treated and released from hospital.

Jessica GRIMLEY – Drunk Driving

(MIDLAND,ON) – An officer from the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation while on general patrol of Yonge Street, Midland on October 24, 2024.

The officer acting on driving observations of a westbound vehicle conducted a vehicle stop and upon speaking with the driver entered into a impaired driving investigation.

As a result of this investigation Jessica GRIMLEY 24 years of Midland has been charged with the following criminal code driving charges.

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on November 14, 2024 and was served a 90 day driver’s licence suspension along with a seven day vehicle impound in accordance to the Ministry of Transportation (ADLS) guidelines.

Clayton ARCH – Break & Enter

(MIDLAND,ON) – A theft of vehicle report to the OPP Communication Centre at approximately 8:26 a.m. October 23, 2024 resulted in members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment attending an Ottawa Street Midland address to conduct an investigation. This investigation led to identification of a suspect and further to the recovery of the stolen 2014 Jeep which contained stolen property parked in front of a multi-resident residence on Elizabeth Street, Midland.

On October 24, 2024 officers were dispatched to the First Street and Yonge Street, Midland area for an unwanted persons call and located and arrested the suspect in the theft of vehicle investigation and released the individual with a future court date.

On October 25, 2024 at approximately 4:27 p.m. a community member observed an individual forcefully breaking into an Midland Avenue apartment and contacted the police. Responding officers located and arrested the suspect at the Midland Avenue apartment.

Charged in connection with both investigations is Clayton ARCH 42 years of Midland with the following offences.

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000 – in Canada
  • Break, Enter a place – with intent to commit indictable offence

Both offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

The accused has been released from custody and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice  on December 5, 2024.

Repeat Offender Facing Sexual Assault Charges

(MIDLAND,ON) – On October 23, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. a number of OPP officers from various units executed a criminal code search warrant at a Manly Street, Midland residence. The search warrant was led by members of the Major Crime Unit attached to the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment and assisted by OPP members from the Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Canine (K-9), Emergency Response Team (ERT) which resulted in the arrest of a suspect from the residence who was the subject of a number of criminal investigations within the Town of Midland commencing on September 17, 2024.

Arrested, charged and held for bail is Michael Keith L’ENFANT 32 year old of Midland on the following offences contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada

  • Sexual assault (two counts)
  • Sexual assault with a weapon (three counts)
  • Administer Noxious thing (two counts)
  • Communicate for purposes of obtaining sexual services (two counts)
  • Overcome resistance
  • Fail To Comply (four counts)

The accused remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.

There will be no further comment on the investigation as the matter is now before the courts.

Investigators believe that there is a possibility of further persons in the community that may have fallen victim to the accused persons criminal activities.

Ryan David DICKS – Robbery

(MIDLAND,ON) – On September 25, 2024, members of the Southern Georgian Bay OPP Detachment responded to a report of a robbery that had occurred at a multiple resident dwelling on Elizabeth Street, Midland.

Attending officers spoke with the 45 year old male victim who had been physically assaulted and robbed of personal property while outside on the property of the dwelling by another person known to the victim. The victim was transported to an area hospital for further treatment of his injuries suffered in the assault and later released.

Investigators identified the suspect and through investigation located and arrested Ryan David DICKS 41 years of no fixed address, Midland at 9:54 a.m. on October 22, 2024.

The accused has been charged criminally with the offence of Robbery with Violence and was held for a bail hearing and will appear before the Ontario Court of Justice at a future date.
