Marlo BELANGER – Drunk Driving

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision has resulted in impaired driving charges for one Kirkland Lake resident.

On March 1,2025, at approximately 11:20 p.m. the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Carter Avenue in Kirkland Lake. The subject motor vehicle was located off the roadway and had collided with a snowbank and a tree. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined the individual had consumed an alcoholic beverage. Officers also observed several open containers of alcohol in the vehicle. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Marlo BELANGER, a 32-year-old from Kirkland Lake, has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·      Operation while impaired by alcohol

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container of liquor

·      Driving while under suspension

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on March 20, 2025.

Drivers are reminded that no amount of alcohol or drugs in your system is safe when driving. Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. Anthony ALEXANDER – Drunk Driving

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A single motor vehicle collision has resulted in impaired driving charges for one Larder Lake resident.

On February 23,2025, at approximately 12:20 a.m. the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Duncan Avenue at the intersection of Government Road. The subject motor vehicle was located off the roadway lodged on top of a snowbank. Upon speaking with the driver officers determined the individual had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Iroquois Falls OPP detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Anthony ALEXANDER, a 28-year-old from Larder Lake, has been charged with:

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus

·      Operation while impaired by alcohol.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on March 20, 2025.

Home Invasion: Jessica KING Arrested

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a second person in connection with an armed robbery in January 2025.

On January 4, 2025, at approximately 2:00 a.m., the Kirkland Lake OPP responded to a report of a robbery at a residence on Station Road in Kirkland Lake. The caller reported that three people broke into an apartment, assaulted the caller and three others within the apartment, then fled the scene. Victims sustained minor injuries and declined medical assistance.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, Jessica KING, a 32-year-old of Kirkland Lake, was arrested and charged with:

·      Break and enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence

·      Robbery with a weapon

·      Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose

The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on February 27, 2025.

The OPP is continuing efforts to locate and arrest the other individual involved in this incident. Updates will be provided as they become available.

Jacob BULLER Was Arrested

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – One driver was arrested and charged for impaired driving after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop.

On February 13,2025, at approximately 4:20 a.m. the Kirkland Lake OPP conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that was observed failing to maintain its lane and taking a sharp turn before parking diagonally. Upon speaking with the driver officers determined the individual had consumed an alcoholic beverage.

As a result of the investigation, Jacob BULLER, a 19-year-old from Kirkland Lake, has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on March 6, 2025.

Kirkland Lake and surrounding area is reminded that drivers who register a fail or refusal to comply with the demand will result in a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. If you suspect that someone is driving while impaired by alcohol or drugs, it is important to call 9-1-1 to report it.

Homicide – Jordan PARKES Arrested

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON.) – The Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested a third person in connection with an ongoing homicide investigation.

On June 8, 2023, shortly after 10:00 p.m., members of the Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment responded to a shooting at a location on Second Street East.

The victim was identified as Ernest RENAUD, 47 years old of Kirkland Lake.

On June 9, 2023, two individuals were arrested and charged with Criminal Code (CC) offences. One individual was charged with first-degree murder, section 235(1) CC and the second individual was charged with accessory after the fact (murder), section 240 CC.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, a third individual, Jordan PARKES, a 27-year-old of Vaughan, has been arrested and charged with manslaughter, section 236(a) CC.

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on February 7, 2025.

The Kirkland Lake OPP Crime Unit is continuing the investigation under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

Mitchell LAMBERT Was Arrested Again

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – One individual has been charged with breaching release conditions and weapons offences.

On January 4, 2025, at approximately 9:45 p.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Government Road in Kirkland Lake, when an officer observed a person known to be breaching their release conditions.

Upon being advised they were under arrest, the individual fled from police discarding a replica handgun and bear spray onto the ground, the person then surrendered to police.

As a result of the investigation, Mitchell LAMBERT, a 26-year-old of Kirkland Lake was charged for the following:

·      Failure to comply with undertaking

·      Fail to comply with probation order

·      Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order- two counts

·      Carry concealed prohibited device or ammunition

·      Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition

·      Resist peace officer

The accused was remanded into custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on February 27, 2025.

Ronald WHITE – Aggravated Assault

(KIRKLAND LAKEON) – Police arrested and charged one person after one individual was transported to the hospital.

On January 30, 2025, at approximately 6:35 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to a disturbance at a residence on Government Road, Kirkland Lake.

One person was arrested, while another individual was transported to the local hospital with serious life-threatening injuries by EMS.

As a result of the investigation, Ronald WHITE, 47 years-of-age, from Kirkland Lake, was charged with, aggravated assault.

The accused was held for Bail Court and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on January 30, 2025, in Kirkland Lake.

The investigation is in the early stages and no further details can be released at this time. Residents of the area should expect to continue to see a police presence.

The OPP would like to advise the public, that this was an isolated event and there are no safety concerns to the public.

Justin BERTRAND Facing Numerous Charges

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – An arson investigation leads to charges against one individual.

On January 18, 2025, at approximately 5:30 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a vehicle fire at a residence on Prince Street in Kirkland Lake. There were no injuries reported.

On January 22, 2025, at approximately 10:56 a.m., the suspect was arrested with the assistance of Timmins Police Service on Mountjoy Street South in Timmins.  The OPP seized a suspected amount of methamphetamine with an estimated street value of approximately $5,500 and a 12 gauge shotgun.

As a result of the investigation, Justin BERTRAND, 34 years-old, of Timmins was charged with the following:

  • Arson – damage to property
  • Arson – disregard for human life
  • Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code
  • Possession of explosive substance contrary to prohibition order
  • Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order – six counts
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Careless storage of firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition – two counts
  • Possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with
  • Possession of prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition
  • Possession of Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine

The accused remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Timmins on February 3, 2025.

The investigation is on-going. Further details will be released as they become available.

Melissa TURCOTTE Was Arrested Again

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a suspect in connection with an armed robbery earlier this month.

Ana PRASCEVIC Was Arrested

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – One driver was arrested for driving while impaired by drug, during a traffic stop by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Kirkland Lake.

As a result of the investigation, Ana PRASCEVIC, a 32-year-old from Toronto, has been charged with operation while impaired – drugs.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 30, 2025.

Hwy 11 Meth Bust – Names Released

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Festive Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) program has led to significant drug seizures and charges against two individuals.

On December 8, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., the Kirkland Lake OPP was conducting a RIDE initiative on Highway 11 in Kenogami.  Upon speaking to the driver, police observed open alcohol, cannabis and drug paraphernalia readily accessible to the driver.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of approximately 783 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 64 grams of cocaine and 7 grams of Ecstasy, with an estimated street value of $85,000.

As a result of the investigation, Brayton EVANS-ANDERSON, a 26-year-old from Latchford has been charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- ecstasy

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

·      Driver fail to surrender licence

·      Driving motor vehicle with open container or liquor

·      Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

·      Obstruct plate

·      Drive with window coated- view obstructed

The accused is next scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 9, 2025.

Additionally, Jessica BOUDREAULT, a 34-year-old from Kirkland Lake has been charged with:

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- methamphetamine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- cocaine

·      Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking- ecstasy

·      Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

The accused is next scheduled to appear before the Kirkland Lake Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 10, 2025.

Justin PAQUETTE Facing Numerous Charges

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The report of a break and enter has resulted in multiple charges for a Kirkland Lake resident.  

On December 3, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a break and enter in progress on Fifth Street, Kirkland Lake. Prior to police arrival the person left the residence on an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) towards local trails.

A short time later, the OPP located the driver who, upon seeing police, fled on foot into the wooded area. Police quickly located the person and effected the arrest. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was transported to the Kirkland Lake detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Justin PAQUETTE, a 34-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:

·      Mischief under $5,000- two counts

·      Theft of a motor vehicle

·      Break and enter a place- with intent to commit indictable offence

·      Breach of recognizance

·      Allegation breach of CSO

·      Resist peace officer

·      Operation while impaired- alcohol

·      Failure or refusal to comply with demand

·      Driving while under suspension- two counts

·      Drive off-road vehicle- no number plate

·      Drive off-road vehicle- no insurance

·      Fail to wear proper helmet

·      Lamps not lit

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was remanded into custody and is scheduled to next appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 9, 2024.

John Paul BACON – Weapons

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – One individual has been charged with weapons offences following an arrest in Kirkland Lake.

On November 21, 2024, at approximately 10:00 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were conducting general patrol on Government Road in Kirkland Lake, when an officer observed a person known to be subject to reasonable grounds for arrest related to a prior incident.

Upon being advised they were under arrest, the individual attempted to access their belt area.  Officers quickly controlled the situation, and the person was arrested.

A search incident to arrest revealed the individual was concealing an imitation BB handgun and was wearing protective equipment beneath their winter jacket. Upon further investigation police located another imitation BB handgun, handcuffs and other military-style replica equipment in their backpack.

As a result of the investigation, John Paul BACON, a 40-year-old of Kirkland Lake was charged for the following:

·      Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Carrying concealed weapon

The accused was remanded into custody and is next scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on December 12, 2024.

Zachary FRISEN – Theft, Repeat Offender

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – The theft of donations from a poppy box in Kirkland Lake has resulted in charges being laid against one individual.

On November 19, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report from Legion Branch 87 regarding the theft of Remembrance Day poppies and monetary donations from a business on Government Road in Kirkland Lake.

As a result of the investigation, Zachary FRISEN, a 19-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:

·      Theft under $5000

·      Fail to comply with probation order

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on January 9, 2025.

Rachael NATTAK – Drunk Driving

(KIRKLAND LAKE, ON) – A Kirkland Lake resident was arrested and charged with impaired driving.  

On November 15, 2024, at approximately 1:30 a.m., the Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a family dispute at a residence on Kirkpatrick Street. One person who appeared to be impaired was reported to have departed the residence driving a motor vehicle.

Shortly after, the vehicle was located and stopped by police. Upon speaking with the driver, officers determined that the driver had consumed an alcoholic beverage. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kirkland Lake detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, Rachael NATTAK, a 44-year-old of Kirkland Lake was arrested and charged for the following:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·      Novice driver – blood alcohol concentration above zero.

The accused was issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (A.D.L.S) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kirkland Lake on December 12, 2024.
