Murder: Albert KEESICK SR vs. JR

(KENORA, ON) – One person has been arrested and charged with second degree murder in relation to a death investigation in Kenora.  

On March 13, 2025, members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for service at a residence on Heenan Place and located one individual in medical distress. The individual was subsequently pronounced deceased.

The deceased has been identified as Albert KEESICK JR., 46 years old of Kenora. A postmortem examination will be conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services in Toronto.

As a result of the investigation, Albert KEESICK SR., 72 years old of Kenora, has been arrested and charged with second degree murder contrary to section 235(1) of the Criminal Code.

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on March 17, 2025.

The investigation is continuing by the OPP North West Crime Unit under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch, with assistance from OPP Forensic Identification Services, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.

There is no threat to public safety. Members of the public can expect to see a large police presence in the area as a result of the investigation.

35 Year Old Facing Theft & Trespasing Charges

(KENORA, ON) – The Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged a male following reports of suspicious activity and thefts from vehicles in the area.

On March 8, 2025, shortly after 10:30 p.m., Kenora OPP officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious male in the area ofSouth Park Drive in Kenora. The complainant reported observing a male attempting to access parked vehicles. CCTV footage of the incident was provided.

Officers patrolled the area and observed the interior lights of a pickup truck turning on. Upon arrival, officers located a male matching the suspect description removing items from the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation Phillip KAKEKAGUMICK, 35-years-old of Sioux Lookout, Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Trespassing at Night x2
  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

Criminal Charges Following Collision

(KENORA, ON) – A motor vehicle collision ended with criminal charges for an impaired driver. 

On March 10, 2025, shortly before 8:30 a.m., members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint of a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Highway 17 driving erratically. The complainant reported that the suspect vehicle was all over the road and nearly drove into oncoming traffic.

Shortly after 8:45 a.m. officers located the vehicle after it had collided with another vehicle that was stopped at a stop sign on Mellick Avenue.

Investigation determined that the driver was under the influence and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional testing was completed.    

Ville ISOKAUPPILA, 43-years-old, from Kenora, Ontario is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

In addition to the charges, the driver was issued a 90-day license suspension, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on April 17, 2025, to answer to the criminal charges.

2 Dead: Jannine MCDONALD Charged

(KENORA, ON) – The Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has laid charges following a fatal collision that occurred on April 13, 2024.

On April 13, 2024, shortly after 1:00 p.m., members of the Kenora OPP Detachment, the North West Region T.I.M.E. Team (Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement) along with Emergency Medical Services, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 525 in Kenora involving an SUV. Two individuals were pronounced deceased at the scene. Two other passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, the driver of the SUV has been arrested and charged under the criminal code.

Jannine MCDONALD, 42-years-old, from Wabaseemoong First Nation, Ontario is charged criminally with:

·      Impaired Operation causing death x2

·      Impaired Operation causing bodily harm

·      Dangerous operation causing death

·      Dangerous operation causing bodily harm

The accused was held for bail and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on February 20, 2025.

Traffic safety remains a top priority of the OPP and is a key component of the OPP’s public safety mandate. Investigations resulting in the loss of life and serious injuries can be complex to investigate. As the vast majority of fatal collisions are preventable, thorough and accurate investigations help ensure that motorists who cause these collisions are held accountable for their driving behaviours. The victims and their families deserve no less.

Ainsley ASSIN Was Arrested

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Kenora have arrested and charged one individual with assault following an altercation.

On February 6th, 2025, at approximately 6:15 p.m., members of the Kenora OPP Detachment responded to an incident on Matheson Street South, in the City of Kenora. Officers attended and spoke to several individuals. Through the investigation, it was determined that the female had assaulted an individual on the property and then proceeded to enter the individual’s vehicle in the parking lot.

Ainsley ASSIN, 20-years-old of Kenora Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code with Assault. She was further trespassed from the property.

The accused has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

2 More Impaired Drivers Arrested

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora OPP have charged two individuals following two collisions within one hour of each other.

On February 9th, 2025, just before 2:00 a.m., members of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attended a call for service for a single vehicle motor vehicle collision. Police arrived on scene and located a vehicle stuck in a snowbank on Chipman Street.

Investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.    

Edmond JACK, 30-years-old, from Kenora is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

He was further charged with:

·      Novice driver – B.A.C. above zero contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

·      Driving motor vehicle with liquor readily available contrary to the Liquor Licence and Control Act

On February 9th, 2025, shortly after 2:00 a.m., Kenora OPP responded to another single motor vehicle collision behind a local bar.

Police arrived on scene and located the driver attempting to pull the motor vehicle out of the snowbank where it had become stuck.

Investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.    

Lamont GARDNER, 36-years-old, from Kenora is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Both males had their driver’s licence suspended and the vehicle impounded. The accused are scheduled to appear in the Kenora Ontario Court of Justice at a future date to answer to the criminal charges.

Anthony OLSON – Drunk Driving

(KENORA, ON) – Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after locating a vehicle in the ditch on Tresoor Point Road.

On January 21, 2025, shortly after 10:00 pm, members of the OPP Kenora Detachment, were called to the area of Tresoor Point Road for a drop 911 call. While travelling on Tresoor Point Road, officers came across a single motor vehicle collision.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.

Anthony OLSON, 64-years-old from Kenora Ontario is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had his driver’s licence suspended and the vehicle was impounded. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on the 6th of February, 2025 to answer to the criminal charges.

Brianne KENT Was Arrested

(KENORA, ON) – Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual after a motor vehicle collision on Rabbit Lake Road.

On January 19, 2025, just before 1:00 pm, members of the OPP Kenora Detachment, were called to the area of Rabbit Lake Road for a motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles. No injuries were reported.

Through the investigation, it was determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.

Brianne KENT, 33-years-old from Kenora Ontario is charged under the Criminal Code with:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused had her driver’s licence suspended and the vehicle was impounded. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on the 27th of February, 2025 to answer to the criminal charges.

Payton ROY Was Arrested

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual which resulted in the seizure of approximately 13g suspected cocaine.

On Wednesday, January 29th, 2025 Kenora OPP received a call for assistance in the area of Rupert Road. Police attended, arrested the individual, and seized approximately 13g of suspected cocaine, and $540.00 cash.

As a result of this investigation, Payton ROY, 19-years-old of Kenora, ON has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on the 25th of February, 2025.

Kerry Lynn ASSIN Arrested Again

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual which resulted in the seizure of 26.26g suspected fentanyl. The seized drugs had a street value of approximately $18,000.

On Monday, January 20th, 2025 Kenora OPP attended an address for a report of an unwanted individual. Police attended, arrested the individual, and seized 26.26g of suspected fentanyl, cash, weapons, and cell phones.

As a result of this investigation, Kerry Lynn ASSIN, 28-years-old of Kenora, ON has been arrested and charged with the following offences:

·      Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid

·      Personation with intent to avoid arrest, prosecution or obstruct justice

·      Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

·      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Failure to comply with release order

The accused is being held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on the 21st of January, 2025.

Drug Bust – Names Released

(KENORA, ON) – An investigation led by the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau (POIB) and the Kenora OPP detachment has led to charges being laid against two local residents.

Following a traffic stop, two parties were placed under arrest for possession for the purpose of trafficking. As a result of a search, 83.5 x 8mg hydromorphone pills and evidence of drug trafficking were seized.

As a result of the investigation, Randall CREED, a 72-year-old from Kenora, Ontario has been arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

·      Traffic in Schedule I Substance – Opioid, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

·      Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available, contrary to the Cannabis Control Act

·      Failure to comply with release order, contrary to the Criminal Code x4

Randall CREED was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Kenora Bail Court on January 10, 2025.

Jolene SCOTT, a 34-year-old from Kenora, ON has been arrested and charged with:

·      Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of Trafficking – Opioid, contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act

Jolene SCOTT was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on January 30, 2025.

Pedestrian Struck

(KENORA, ON) – The Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking witnesses to a motor vehicle collision (MVC) involving a pedestrian.

On January 1, 2025, shortly before 7:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on McClellan Avenue. The suspect was driving a black Honda Civic at the time of the incident. There is no immediate risk to public safety. The investigation is ongoing.

Police Cruiser Involved In Drunk Driving Collision

(KENORA, ON) – While on general patrol in Kenora, an officer was struck by a vehicle, leading to criminal charges being laid against the impaired driver.

On December 26, 2024, shortly after 8:00 pm, in the downtown core of Kenora, a member of the Kenora Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle that had collided with the officer’s cruiser. No injuries were reported.

Investigation determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol, and an approved screening device (ASD) test was administered. The driver failed the test and was arrested and transported to the Kenora Detachment where additional breath testing was completed.    

Caleb BRYANT-SKEAD, 21-years-old, from Kenora, Ontario is charged criminally with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was further charged with:

·      Disobey stop sign – fail to stop, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

·      Driver motor vehicle – no licence, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Kenora Ontario Court of Justice on January 23, 2025, to answer to the criminal charges.

This year’s Festive RIDE Campaign runs from November 21, 2024 to January 1, 2025. Citizens are reminded to do their part during the campaign by never driving after consuming alcohol or taking drugs, and never letting anyone else drive if you know or suspect that they have consumed either.

Repeat Offender Arrested Again – Dimitri HENRY: Assault With Weapon

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Kenora have arrested and charged one individual with assault and weapons charges.

On December 12, 2024, at approximately 1:00 PM., members of the Kenora OPP Detachment responded to an incident on Water Street, in the City of Kenora. Officers attended and located and arrested a male. Through the investigation, it was learned that the male had assaulted several people on the property.

Dimitri HENRY, 30-years-old of Kenora Ontario has been charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Assault with a weapon

·      Assault

·      Failure to comply with release order

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora at a later date.

Christian PAYPOMPEE – Impaired Driving

(KENORA, ON) – Members of the Kenora Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment have arrested and charged one individual with impaired operation.

On December 13, 2024, just after 9:30 p.m., members of the Kenora OPP Detachment observed a motor vehicle running in a parking lot in the Cambrian Drive area.

Through investigation, it was determined that the driver of the motor vehicle was impaired by drug. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and transported back to the Kenora OPP Detachment for further testing.

Christian PAYPOMPEE, 32-years-old, of Kenora, has been arrested and charged under the Criminal Code with:

·      Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

·      Operation While Prohibited under the Criminal Code

The accused was held for a bail hearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Kenora on December 14, 2024.
