88 Year Old Drunk Driver Facing Hit & Run Charge

(INGERSOLL, ON) – An individual from Cambridge is facing impaired driving-related charges stemming from a fail to remain collision that occurred on Canterbury Street in the Town of Ingersoll.

On April 24, 2025, at approximately 5:15 p.m., members of the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to Canterbury Street in the Town of Ingersoll for a report of a single vehicle, motor vehicle collision where the driver of the vehicle had failed to remain at the scene of the collision.

Officers made patrols and located the subject motor vehicle.

Manuel Furtado, 88-years-old, of Cambridge, has been charged with:  

·      Operation while Impaired – Alcohol

·      Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 Plus)

·      Dangerous Operation

·      Failure to stop after accident

There were no reported injuries because of this collision.

A 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on June 3, 2025.

Armed Robbery – 2 Arrested

(INGERSOLL, ON) – The Oxford Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a robbery in the Town of Ingersoll and are seeking the public’s assistance.

On April 9, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Oxford OPP were dispatched to an address on Thames Street South in the Town of Ingersoll for a report of a robbery.

It was determined an unknown individual entered the property with what appeared to be a firearm and left with an undisclosed amount of Canadian currency. The individual was observed to be exiting the area in a red mid-2000’s Volkswagen Beetle.

On April 10, 2025, Nicholas Scott, 31-years-old, of Ingersoll, has been arrested and charged with: 

·      Armed Robbery

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Disguise with intent

·      Take motor vehicle without consent

The accused was held for a bail hearing. The accused has since been released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on April 29, 2025.

On April 17, 2025, Katie Longlade, 39-years-old, of Ingersoll, has been arrested and charged with:  

·      Armed Robbery

·      Carrying concealed weapon

·      Possession of imitation weapon for dangerous purpose

·      Disguise with intent

·      Take motor vehicle without consent

 The accused was held for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.

Police are requesting the public’s assistance if any suspicious activity was observed around the time of the incident, or if members of the public have any CCTV or dashcam footage, around Thames Street South and St. Andrews Street, in the Town of Ingersoll.

17 Year Old Suffers Serious Injuries In Attack

(INGERSOLL, ON) – Two individuals are facing charges following an assault investigation in the Town of Ingersoll.

On April 7, 2025, at approximately 12:30 p.m., members of the Oxford Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment were dispatched to an assault that had occurred in the area of Alma Street, in the Town of Ingersoll.

Police attended and investigated. A 17-year-old male youth was located and found to have serious non-life-threatening injuries.

Lucas Thornton, 18-years-old, of Ingersoll, has been charged with:

·      Assault with a weapon – Two counts

·      Uttering threats – Cause death or bodily harm

The accused was held pending a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock.

 A 15-year-old has been charged with:

·      Robbery with violence

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock on a later date.

The youth’s identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
