Three Suspects & $7,500 Gone — OPP Delay Raises Questions

(HURON EAST, ON) – The Huron Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a recent theft from a jewelry store in the Town of Seaforth, Municipality of Huron East.

On February 07, 2026, three women entered a jewelry store on Main Street South in Seaforth. The three culprits worked as a team and utilized distraction techniques with staff to successfully steal three rings, worth over $7,500.

The suspects are described as follows (see photos):

Suspect #1 – Female, heavy set, wearing a grey coat and a leopard print scarf, approximately 45 years-of-age,

Suspect #2 – Female, heavy set, wearing a white coat, grey toque and medical mask, approximate age 25 to 35 years-of-age,

Suspect #3 – Female, heavy set, black coat with red toque, approximately 65 years-of-age.

84 Year Old From North Huron Deceased Following Collision

(HURON EAST, ON) – A two-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Huron East has claimed the life of a North Huron resident. 

Just before 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, members of the Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Huron County Paramedic Services, and Huron East Fire Department responded to a collision on North Line just north of Hydro Line Road in Huron East.

Upon arrival, emergency services located the involved vehicles, a pickup truck and a passenger car, both heavily damaged. The lone driver of the pickup truck was treated for minor injuries. The elderly sedan driver was seriously injured and transported by ambulance to a London Hospital. A passenger in the sedan was treated for minor injuries.

On February 20, 2026, the driver of the involved sedan died because of their injuries sustained in the collision.

The deceased is an 84-year-old resident of North Huron. 

The cause of the collision is being investigated. Members from the West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management & Enforcement (TIME) Team were at the scene to assist with the collision investigation. North Line was closed for a period to allow officers to safely investigate the collision.

Firearm Located – Jason STEINACKER Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident following a report of a recovered firearm in Mississauga. 

Huron OPP received information from Peel Regional Police on January 15, 2026, advising that a handgun registered to an individual in Huron East had been recovered in Mississauga. Investigators located the firearm owner who was subsequently charged with Criminal Code offences on January 15, 2026.

Jason STEINACKER, 52 years-of-age of Huron East has been charged with the following criminal offences:

–      Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition,

–      Lost Firearm or Weapon – Not Reported.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 16, 2026.

Benjamin VANGERWEN – Drunk Driving

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a South Huron resident with an impaired driving offence following a traffic stop in the Municipality of Huron East on January 18, 2026. 

Just after 6:30 p.m., on Sunday, January 18, 2026, Huron County OPP officers were conducting Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E.) checks on Brussels Line, in the Village of Walton. Officers spoke to a vehicle driver who was subsequently arrested for impaired operation. The accused was transported to the Huron OPP detachment in Clinton where they provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician. Breath samples were provided to police which resulted in readings over the legal limit.

Benjamin VANGERWEN, 29-years-of-age from South Huron has been charged with:

–      Operation while Impaired – Over 80.

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 02, 2026.

Drug Bust: Emma BEUERMAN & Terri-Ann DOYLE

(HURON EAST, ON) – An investigation conducted by officers from the Huron-Perth Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Community Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and offence-related property. Two Huron East residents and a West Perth resident have been charged.

An investigation initiated by members of the Huron-Perth CSCU led investigators to an address on Main Street South in the Municipality of Huron East, Town of Seaforth. OPP officers from the Huron-Perth CSCU, Grey-Bruce CSCU, West Region OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), West Region OPP K-9, and officers from the Huron OPP detachment assisted with the investigation.

On Tuesday, February 10th, 2026, a traffic stop was conducted in Huron East, which resulted in the driver being arrested for impaired operation and drug-related offences. The vehicle passenger was also arrested for drug-related offences. A related search warrant was executed in Huron East, which resulted in the seizure of illegal drugs and offence-related property.

Quantities of suspected Methamphetamine, Cocaine, Hydromorphone, Psilocybin, and Adderall were seized. The total value of the illegal drugs seized is estimated at $2,720.

Seized offence-related property included weigh scales, packaging, and a cellular phone totalling $2,250.

Terri-Ann DOYLE, 31 years-of-age from Huron East has been charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance – Cocaine.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 9th, 2026.

Samuel LANGDON, 34 years-of-age from Huron East has been charged with:

  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine,
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine,
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid – (two counts),
  • Possession of Schedule III Substance.

The accused was processed, held for a bail hearing, and remanded into custody with a later court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

Emma BEUERMAN, 20 years-of-age from West Perth has been charged with:

  • Impaired Operation – Alcohol and Drug,
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance – Cocaine,
  • Possession of Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court date scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on March 9th, 2026.

Matthew ARMSTRONG Was Arrested Again! #3Strikes

The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Bluewater resident following an incident in the Town of Seaforth, Municipality of Huron East on January 06, 2026.

On Tuesday, January 06, 2026, just before 8:00 p.m., Huron OPP officers were contacted about a suspicious vehicle in Huron East. Police located a pickup truck in Seaforth, which was parked with a snowmobile in the box of the truck. The snowmobile was reported stolen in 2025. The suspect was located nearby, taken into custody, and charged as follows:

Matthew ARMSTRONG, 44 years-of-age of Bluewater was charged with:

–      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000,

–      Fail to Comply with Probation – (two counts),

–      Fraud Over $5,000,

–      Public Mischief,

–      Fail to Comply with Release Order – (two counts).

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody. The accused has a future court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

TERPSTRA & HAMM Arrested Following Indecent Act At Memorial – NH Council’s Disrespect Spreading

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals following an incident that took place on North Line, in the Municipality of Huron East on September 01, 2025.   

On Tuesday, September 02, 2025, police were informed of social media posts that were circulating involving mischief to a roadside memorial site on North Line in Huron East.

Police investigated the matter and subsequently arrested and charged the individuals responsible for the crime. They were charged as follows:

Jacob HAMM, (22 years-of-age at the time of the offence) of Huron East has been charged with:

–      Mischief Under $5,000,

–      Indecent Act,

–      Fail to Comply with Probation.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on February 23, 2026.

Samuel TERPSTRA, (18 years-of-age at the time of the offence) of Huron East has been charged with:

–      Mischief Under $5,000,

–      Indecent Act.

Police investigated information that an individual had fired gun shots in the direction of snowmobile operators on December 08, 2025. Huron OPP officers identified the suspect who was subsequently charged on December 23, 2025 with the following offences:

David SCOTT, 60 years-of-age of Huron East has been charged with the following criminal offences:

–      Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition – (five counts).

Several firearms were seized from the accused as part of the investigation along with their possession acquisition licence (PAL).

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,

Repeat Offender Amber COLEMAN Arrested Again #3Strikes

(HURON EAST, ON) – The Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an incident in the Town of Seaforth, Municipality of Huron East on December 07, 2025.

On Sunday, December 07, 2025, just after 3:00 p.m., Huron OPP officers were contacted about an individual who was reportedly walking in Seaforth swinging a knife. Police located the suspect, who proceeded to confront the officers with a knife. Officers used a conducted energy weapon (CEW) to safely control the suspect, who was taken into custody and charged as follows:

Amber COLEMAN, 33 years-of-age of Goderich has been charged with:

–      Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon,

–      Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose,

–      Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order – (six counts),

–      Fail to Comply with Probation – (six counts),

–      Fail to Comply with Release Order.

The accused was processed and held for a bail hearing where they were remanded into custody. The accused has a later court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich.

David EDEN Was Arrested

(HURON EAST, ON) – Huron County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Huron East resident with an impaired driving offence following a traffic stop on December 05, 2025, in the Municipality of Huron East. 

Just before 4:00 p.m. on Friday, December 05, 2025, Huron County OPP officers conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle on Victoria Street in Seaforth. The police vehicle was equipped with Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) technology, which alerted the vehicle’s licence plate. The driver was found to be suspended from driving and was additionally arrested for impaired operation.

The accused provided breath samples before a qualified Intoxilyzer Breath Technician at the Huron County OPP detachment in Clinton. Breath samples provided to police resulted in readings over the legal limit.

David EDEN, 63 years-of-age from Huron East has been charged with:

–      Impaired Operation – Over 80.

The accused was additionally charged with four offences found in the Highway Traffic Act (HTA), and Compulsory Automobile Insurance Act (CAIA).

The vehicle involved was towed and impounded for seven days, and the accused’ driver’s license was suspended for a period of 90 days.

The accused was processed and later released from custody with a court appearance scheduled at the Ontario Court of Justice – Goderich on January 12, 2026.
