Andres REYES FLOREZ – Impaired Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – The Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) arrested an individual following a single vehicle collision investigation.

On August 15, 2024, at approximately 9:30 a.m., members of the Haldimand OPP located a vehicle in the ditch on Townline Road, Cayuga.

The investigation determined that the vehicle was occupied by the driver only and there were no injuries reported.

Upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent they had consumed alcohol, and the individual was taken into custody.

As a result, 27-year-old Andres REYES FLOREZ of West Lincoln Township has been charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 3, 2024.

Joshua SANDY – Fatal Hit & Run

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – As a result of a fatal motor vehicle collision in Caledonia, an individual has been charged with several Criminal Code offences.

On Saturday, August 2, 2024, at approximately 3:50 p.m., members of the Haldimand Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) detachment responded to a two-vehicle collision on Argyle Street South in the town of Caledonia.

As a result of the collision, a 57-year-old female from Markham was located deceased at the scene and four others were taken to surrounding hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the one driver fled the scene on foot and with the assistance of the West Region Emergency Response Team, West Region OPP Canine Unit and Six Nations Police, the driver was located a short time later and was taken into custody without incident. They were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

26-year-old, Joshua SANDY of Six Nations of the Grand River First Nation is charged with the following offences:

  • Dangerous Operation Causing Death
  • Fail to Stop at Accident – Causing Death
  • Operation While Prohibited

The accused is currently being held in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Cayuga on Tuesday August 6, 2024.

5 Arrested – Names Released

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – Five individuals have been arrested following a suspicious vehicle investigation.

On July 29, 2024, at approximately 12:30 a.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a suspicious vehicle complaint on Concession 8, Walpole.

The investigation determined that two vehicles were observed at that location, and one had left the scene prior to police arrival. Police located both vehicles and all involved were taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, the following individuals have each been charged with the two listed Criminal Code offences:

22-year-old Bence BALAZS of Bowmanville

45-year-old Csaba BALAZS of Whitby

32-year-old Gusztav BALAZS of Moose Jaw

51-year-old Gyozo BALAZS of Scarborough

27-year-old David KALOCSAI of Whitby

  • Theft Over $5000
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000

All the accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 10, 2024.

Timothy SMUCK – Impaired Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – A driver was arrested after police conducted a traffic stop on Richert Road, near Kohler.

On July 28, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m., while on patrol, a member of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) observed a vehicle operating in an erratic manner.

A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with the driver, the officer had reason to believe the driver had consumed alcohol.

The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, 45-year-old Timothy SMUCK of Jarvis has been charged with the following offences:

·      Operation While Impaired

·      Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

·      Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform Stunt

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 3, 2024.

Repeat Offender Arrested After Hit & Run

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – One individual is facing charges following a 2-vehicle collision.

On July 23, 2024, at approximately 4:00 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a 2-vehicle collision on Highway 6, near Caledonia.

The investigation determined that after the collision occurred, the driver and passenger of one of the vehicles fled the scene on foot. Minor injuries were reported.

Both occupants were located, and one was taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, 24-year-old Jahvon LASALLE of Brantford has been charged with the following offences:

  • Assault
  • Dangerous Operation
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order
  • Failure to Stop after Accident

The accused remains in custody and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 30, 2024.

Christopher DANDO – Impaired Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – One individual is facing several charges following a collision.

On July 20, 2024, at approximately 9:50 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a two-vehicle collision on Haldimand Highway 54 near Sims Locks.

No injuries were reported.

Upon speaking with the occupants, it was determined that one of the drivers had consumed alcohol and was subsequently taken into custody.

The accused was transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result, 19-year-old Christopher DANDO of Milton was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
  • Mischief Under $5000
  • Driver Fail to Surrender Licence
  • Novice Driver – B.A.C. Above Zero

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on September 3, 2024

Taiotorake KING – Impaired, Assault

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – An individual was taken into custody after erratic driving observed by police.

On June 19, 2024, at approximately 10:55 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was on general patrol when a pick-up truck brought attention to the officer on Main Street in Hagersville.

A traffic stop was conducted and upon speaking with the driver, it became obvious they had consumed alcohol. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest, but immediately became resistant.

The accused was subdued by officers and transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result of the investigation, 29-year-old Taiotorake KING from Ohsweken was charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 16, 2024.

Keegan FOSTER Was Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – One person was arrested following a traffic complaint.

On June 19, 2024, at approximately 4:15 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a traffic complaint on Argyle Street, Caledonia.

Members of the OPP located the vehicle and upon speaking with the driver, it became obvious they had consumed alcohol.

An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and the driver was placed under arrest.

The accused was transported to the detachment for further testing.

As a result of the investigation, 23-year-old Keegan FOSTER of Hagersville has been charged with the following Criminal Code offence:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 30, 2024.

Drug Bust – 2 Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – Two individuals have been charged following a drug trafficking investigation.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand/Norfolk Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began a drug trafficking investigation into two individuals trafficking illicit drugs in the Dunnville area.

On June 17, 2024, a traffic stop was conducted on Caistorville Road, near Canborough and both occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest.

Stefanie REAMAN, 42-years-old and Kevin Stire, 37-years-old, both from Dunnville have been charged with the following offences:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000

As a result of the investigation, quantities of suspected MDMA, crack cocaine, drug paraphernalia, as well as a quantity of Canadian currency was seized.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 30, 2024.

Andrew VLAAR Was Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTYON) – An individual is facing several charges after OPP locate a vehicle involved in a traffic complaint.

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, at approximately 4:20 p.m., members of the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 6, near Caledonia.

Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop. Upon speaking with the driver, it became obvious they had consumed alcohol. An Approved Screening Device (ASD) was administered, and as a result, the driver was taken into custody.

The accused was transported to the OPP detachment for further testing.

41-year-old Andrew VLAAR of St. Catharines is facing the following charges:

  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Operation While Prohibited Under the Criminal Code
  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Driving While Under Suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on July 23, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – One person is deceased following a single-vehicle collision in Haldimand County.

On June 5, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a vehicle in the creek that runs along North Shore Drive, Dunnville.

Members of Haldimand OPP, Haldimand County Fire Services and Paramedic Services responded. The vehicle and driver were located, and an individual was located unresponsive in the water.

A 69-year-old from Lowbanks was transported to hospital where they were later pronounced deceased.

The Haldimand OPP continues to investigate the collision, along with members of the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) team.

North Shore Drive was closed for several hours but has since re-opened.

Scott LASHER Was Arrested

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On April 15, 2024, at approximately 1:00 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of an erratic driver on New Credit Road, Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation.

The investigation determined that a single vehicle collision had occurred, and the driver left the scene.

The vehicle was located a short time later and upon speaking with the driver, it became apparent they had consumed alcohol. The individual was taken into custody and transported to the OPP detachment for testing.

As a result, 63-year-old Scott LASHER of Niagara Falls was charged with the following offences:

  • Operation While Impaired
  • Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
  • Drive While Under Suspension

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga on May 28, 2024.

Fatal Collision

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) -A single vehicle collision has claimed the life of one individual.

On April 6, 2024, at approximately 3:00 a.m., members from the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) with assistance from Haldimand County Fire Services of Caledonia, as well as Haldimand County Paramedic Services, responded to a single vehicle collision at the intersection of Argyle Street and Highway 6, Caledonia

The investigation determined that a sedan was involved in a collision, and the driver was ejected.

As a result, a 28-year-old from Caledonia was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Road closures are in effect at Argyle Street and Braemar Drive, and Highway 6 between Greens Road and Fifth Line and are expected to remain closed for the next several hours.

The West Region OPP Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement (TIME) Team is assisting with the investigation.

Tyler BROSSEAU – Drunk Driving

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – A single vehicle collision resulted in impaired charges on the weekend.

On April 6, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a single vehicle collision on Concession 4, Walpole.

The investigation determined that a vehicle left the roadway with the driver sustaining minor injuries.

As a result of the investigation, Tyler BROSSEAU, 31-years-old of Port Dover has been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:

·      Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)

One Dead During Violent Break & Enter – Suspects At Large

(HALDIMAND COUNTY, ON) – On March 13, 2024, at approximately 11:10 a.m., the Haldimand detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of animal cruelty at a Haldimand Road 20, Fisherville address.

The investigation determined that two unknown people attended the property between 3:00 a.m. – 3:30 a.m. that morning and caused damage to a fence to gain access to a closed animal pen.

Once inside, an emu was injured by an unknown means, causing death to the animal and the two unknown individuals fled the area.

Video surveillance is being reviewed in hopes to identify the persons responsible.

Causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is a criminal offence that carries a penalty of up to 5 years in jail upon conviction.
