Taiwo ADEDEJI Was Arrested

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver after receiving complaints from other motorists.

On April 12, 2025 at 5:37 a.m. Bracebridge OPP officers received several traffic complaints about the concerning behaviour of a vehicle travelling south on Bethune Drive in Gravenhurst. Officers quickly located the vehicle and attempted to conduct a traffic stop, however the driver failed to follow the officers’ instructions and minor damage was caused to one police cruiser. The vehicle was brought to a safe stop and police have arrested and charged 29-year-old Taiwo ADEDEJI of Gravenhurst, ON with Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1) and Flight from Peace Officer CC 320.17, along with several Highway Traffic Act offenses. He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on May 20, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Connor MCQUAIN – Break & Enter, Theft

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person in relation to an ongoing investigation into break and enters in Gravenhurst.

Bracebridge OPP with the assistance of the Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), have been conducting an ongoing investigation into several break and enters that have occurred in the town of Gravenhurst between March 31 and April 5, 2025. The investigation involves break, enter and thefts to five separate businesses during very early morning hours, one business had been broken into three times.

On April 5, 2025 at 1:11 a.m. a member of the public reported that they observed damage to another door at a business located at the corner of Muskoka Road South and James Street in Gravenhurst, making it the third time that that business had been broken into recently. Officers attended and with the assistance of the community, soon arrested and charged one person.

Police have charged 33-year-old Connor MCQUAIN of Gravenhurst with the following:

  • Break & Enter CC 348(1)(a) X 2
  • Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b)
  • Possession of Break In Instruments CC 351(1) X 2

He will be held for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 7, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Sinkhole Closes Hwy 11 – One Sent To Hospital

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) currently have Highway 11 North in Gravenhurst closed to allow for highway repairs after a large sinkhole developed.

Just before 2:00 p.m. on March 27, 2025, Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to reports of a large sinkhole on Highway 11 North near Sparrow Lake Route D in Gravenhurst, a number of vehicles had collided with it and sustained damage. One person was transported to hospital with minor injuries.

Highway 11 North is closed at Coopers Falls Road and police are asking motorists to avoid the area in order to allow crews to safely make the necessary repairs. The closure is expected to continue until early on Friday morning.

HOLDER Facing Numerous Charges

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person with several offenses including impaired driving on Friday night.

On Friday March 21, 2025, just before 11:00 p.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting proactive patrols in the town of Gravenhurst and became concerned about the driving behaviour of a motorist on Winewood Avenue. The officer followed the vehicle onto Bethune Drive and then Industrial Drive, attempting to conduct a traffic stop. The vehicle eventually came to a stop near a residence on Forest Glen Drive and the officer arrested the driver. Police have charged 23-year-old Dylan HOLDER of Orangeville, ON with the following:

  • Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b)
  • Dangerous Operation CC 320.13(1)
  • Flight From Peace Officer CC 320.17
  • Having Care or Control of a Motor Vehicle with Open Container of Liquor LLCA42(1)(a)
  • Disobey Sign HTA 182(2)

He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on April 22, 2025 to answer to his charges. Furthermore, the accused’s drivers license has been suspended for 90-days and their vehicle impounded for 7 days.

Brandon TONNA Facing Numerous Charges

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a Gravenhurst resident with multiple property crimes.

On March 5, 2025, at 4:27 a.m., Bracebridge OPP officers were dispatched to break and enter and theft reports at residences in the Kilworthy area of Gravenhurst. The suspect entered vehicles and garages where he removed several items including cash, identification and credit cards. Officers conducted an investigation and with the assistance of surveillance footage determined that the suspect used a stolen credit card at a nearby establishment.

Muskoka Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and Orillia CSCU executed a search warrant in the City of Barrie where the suspect was located and property belonging to the victims was recovered.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested and charged Brandon TONNA of Gravenhurst with the following:

·      Operation While Prohibited CC 320.18(1)(a)

·      Trespassing at Night CC 177 X 2

·      Theft of Credit Card CC 342(1)(a)

·      Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a) X 2

·      Theft Under $5000 from a Motor Vehicle CC 334(b)

·      Break, Enter dwelling house CC 348(1)(b)

·      Theft Under $5000 CC 334(b)

·      Mischief CC 430(1)(a)

·      Fraud Under $5000 CC 380(1)(b)

The accused has been held in custody for a bail hearing in the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday, March 14, 2025, to answer to the charges.

Violent Attack – 3 Arrested

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged three individuals with multiple serious offences in Gravenhurst.

On February 27, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. Bracebridge OPP officers, along with Muskoka EMS, responded to a call from a resident on Southwood Road in Gravenhurst after a man showed up at his door asking for help. The man described that he had been at a nearby residence and suffered harm, however he was able to flee on foot to find help. Police attended and paramedics ensured that the victims medical needs were met and that he was safe.

The Muskoka Crime Unit with the support of the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), the OPP K9 Unit and Bracebridge OPP detachment members, executed a search warrant at the involved address and have taken three people into custody.

Police have charged 26-year-old Ashton CARNEGIE of Bracebridge and 33-year-old Brandon REED of Gravenhurst each with the following offences:

  • Forcible Confinement CC 279(2)
  • Robbery using Firearm CC 344(1)(a)
  • Assault with a Weapon CC 267(a)
  • Assault CC 266
  • Pointing a Firearm CC 87
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose CC 88
  • Possession of Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm CC 95(1)
  • Theft Over $5000 of a Motor Vehicle CC 334(a)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon CC 91(2)
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order CC 117.01(1)
  • Firearm- Use While Committing Offence CC 85(1)(a)
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order CC 733.1(1)

Police have also charged 52-year-old Jody SPEARS of Gravenhurst with:

The three accused parties have been held in custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on March 1, 2025 to answer to their charges.

2 More Impaired Drivers – Names Released

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two drivers with impaired driving related offenses as the weekend is off to a dangerous start.

On Friday February 7, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers attended an address on Lorne Street in Gravenhurst while following up on an investigation when a vehicle pulled into the driveway. Officers spoke with the driver and subsequently arrested and charged 51-year-old Jason BRADFORD of Gravenhurst with Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 18, 2025 to answer to his charges.

A short time later, on Friday February 7, 2025, just after 10:00 pm., police responded to a report of a vehicle in the ditch on Muskoka Road 169 near Burgess Street in Bala. A member of the public had stopped to assist and called police when they became concerned about the driver’s condition. Police arrested and charged 30-year-old Cole WALKER of Bala with Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a), Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b) and Fail to Comply with Probation CC 733.1(1). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on March 11, 2025 to answer to his charges.

BALDWIN Was Arrested Again

 (GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a local man with impaired driving along with several other offenses.

On Monday February 3, 2025, at 10:30 p.m., a Bracebridge OPP officer was conducting general patrol in the area of Sedore Road in Gravenhurst and stopped a vehicle on Beaver Ridge Road. The traffic stop soon became an impaired driving investigation and 27-year-old David BALDWIN of Gravenhurst was arrested and charged with the following offenses:

  • Operation while Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a)
  • Refusal to Provide Sample CC 320.15(1)
  • Operation while Prohibited under the Criminal Code CC 320.18(1)(a)
  • Fail to Comply with Release Order CC 145(5)(a)

The accused was held in custody and will appear next in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 11, 2025 to answer to his charges.

Erin SIDER Was Arrested

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a local woman with impaired driving.

On Sunday February 2, 2025, just after 8:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to a concern from a member of the public about the condition of a driver who had become stuck in a snowbank near Beaver Ridge Road in Gravenhurst. Officers attended and after an interaction with the driver of a vehicle, arrested and charged 31-year-old Erin SIDER of Gravenhurst, ON with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 25, 2025 to answer to her charges.

In the province of Ontario, when a driver is charged with impaired driving related offences, they have an immediate 90-day drivers license suspension imposed and their vehicle is impounded.

Jesse MACLEOD Was Arrested

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a driver with impaired at a RIDE (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) program.

On Thursday January 30, 2025, just before 11:00 p.m., Bracebridge OPP officers were conducting a RIDE program on Muskoka Road South in Gravenhurst when their attention was drawn to a vehicle that appeared to avoid their location. Police conducted a traffic stop a short distance away and subsequently arrested and charged 23-year-old Jesse MACLEOD of Mactier with Operation While Impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on February 25, 2025 to answer to her charges.

Alison NICE Arrested After Posting Stolen Items From Legion Online

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one person after an investigation into a theft from the Royal Canadian Legion in Gravenhurst.

On November 16, 2024 police began an investigation into the theft of irreplaceable clothing items from the Royal Canadian Legion in Gravenhurst, ON. Further information was provided that the suspect had listed the stolen items on an online marketplace.

As a result of their investigation, police arrested and charged 49-year-old Alison NICE of Gravenhurst with Possession of Property Obtained by Crime CC 354(1)(a) and Trafficking in Stolen Goods CC 355.5(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge next on February 4, 2025 to answer to her charges.

Theft From Legion, DAWSON & SCHELL Arrested #HowLowCanUgo

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two people in relation to a daytime theft from the Royal Canadian Legion in Gravenhurst.

On Wednesday November 20, 2024, at approximately 3:20 p.m. two individuals entered the Royal Canadian Legion located on Veterans Way in Gravenhurst and stole a quantity of items, including irreplaceable World War 1 and World War 2 memorabilia, clothing and a wheelchair. Bracebridge OPP officers conducted an investigation into the theft and with the assistance of community members and the availability of surveillance footage nearby, the suspects were identified.

Police have charged 32-year-old Ashley SCHELL and 34-year-old Jesse DAWSON, both of Gravenhurst, each with Theft OVER $5000 CC 334(a). The accused parties will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on December 17, 2024 and January 14, 2025, respectively, to answer to their charge.

Fatal Collision & Fire

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is asking for the public’s assistance after a collision on Stephenson Road 1 in Bracebridge that resulted in one person’s death.

On Sunday November 17, 2024, just before 2:00 a.m. officers from the Huntsville and Bracebridge OPP detachments, along with Muskoka EMS and Bracebridge Fire Department, responded to reports of a vehicle fire on Stephenson Road 1 East in Bracebridge. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree before catching on fire and the sole occupant, a 41-year-old Port Sydney man, was pronounced deceased.

Police are asking anyone who may have surveillance footage in that area or information to call Bracebridge OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

Mark SETHI – Sexual Assault

(Gravenhurst, ON) – Members of the Bracebridge Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and the Muskoka Crime Unit have charged a Gravenhurst resident with sexual assault.

In October 2024, the Muskoka Crime Unit began investigating a historical sexual assault alleged to have occurred between 1999 and 2000 at a former licensed establishment in Gravenhurst. As a result of the investigation, Mark SETHI, 58 years of age, of Gravenhurst, was arrested and charged with Sexual Assault CC 271 and Indecent Act CC 173(1)(b).

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, on November 26, 2024, to answer to the charges.

Fraser MECKIFFE – Impaired Driving

(GRAVENHURST, ON) – Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged one driver with an impaired driving offense on September 26, 2024.

On September 26, 2024 at 1:15 a.m., Bracebridge OPP officers responded to concerns from a member of the public about the condition of the occupants of a vehicle after they threw a beer can out of their window while driving on Muskoka Beach Road in Gravenhurst. Officers located the vehicle at a quick service restaurant near Bethune Drive and subsequently arrested and charged 33-year-old Fraser MECKIFFE of Mississauga with Operation While Impaired-Over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on October 5, 2024 to answer to his charges.
